I felt very welcome and was treated very well by the server. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The booth was comfortable and had a fresh clean tablecloth.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was originally going to go to Lawry's but I was closer to PCH than Beverly Hills. A quick yelp search for prime rib led me to this gem of a restaurant- Golden Bull. You know what was as good as the prime rib? The brussels sprouts! They are roasted and taste better than any other brussels sprouts I've had. I actually don't like brussels sprouts but was trying to stay away from carby potatoes. They were very good with the apple cider mustard sauce. Anyway back to the prime rib, the slice is deceivingly thin, but it was a large piece so I was satisfied. Medium rare temperature was perfect and the seasoning was great. The fresh brewed iced tea was delicious. I could tell from the menu they have a nice cocktail selection, but I was not drinking that night so I'll have to come back to try them. Parking is tricky, but they have valet.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Old school since 1949. This is a hidden gem in the neighborhood and it's not on the main drag.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Free street parking was a bit difficult to find but they do offer valet parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We only stopped by for drinks at the dark old school bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Luckily two bar seats were available and we placed our mixed drink order and a draft beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was on Father's Day just when they opened at 300pm but the bartender told us that in the evening it gets crazy busy and people start to sing along to whatever music is being played.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place is legit! Great cocktails, excellent food from the apps (calamari, shrimp cocktail, cheesy bread), entrees (filet mignon, burgers) and desserts (croissant bread pudding and s'mores casserole)! Great service and reasonable prices - can't wait to go back!

I want to put 3.7 Stars... Established in 1949, Golden Bull Restaurant off Pacific Coast Highway is a historic steakhouse with a charming old-school vibe. We had deceent steaks, mine topped with rich gravy and traditional Yorkshire pudding. The martinis were good--and like other classics, were well made. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor patio is spacious and perfect for larger groups, adding to the upbeat atmosphere[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], [[HIGHLIGHT]]though sometimes felt more like a rowdy bar with many guests enjoying drinks and burgers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite a few minor drawbacks, (an order mixup, and one steak that was a little gristly), its history, friendly staff and outdoor area make the Golden Bull a nostalgic dining experience.

I discovered Golden Bull about 2 years ago, and found the entire experience to be quite nice on all levels, the restaurant ambiance itself, the food quality and the service! A year ago, my wife and I took our good buddy to Golden Bull for his Birthday, and again the experience was pretty exceptional, all our steaks, appetizers, and salads were perfect, and the service with Fiona was impeccable! Few months ago, my wife and I dined "outside" for the first time, and the restaurant was clearly short staffed. We tried to be patient, but it was hopelessly frustrating, the long delays! I brought this to the attention of the Manager Brian Whipp! Unlike other restaurants that can be apathetic and could care less, Brian was quite attentive to my concerns and frustrations! He made certain generous concessions, and asked that I reach out to him the next time we returned to Golden Bull. Very recently, we brought back our dear friend for another Birthday celebration, and Brian really went all out for us (understatement)! Every part of our dinner was almost personally attended to by Brian, and their "exemplary" and very personable server Fiona! I have been in the service industry myself for 35 plus years, and I have found that many restaurants/managers can be completely unaccountable for certain unacceptable mishaps, be it the food quality or the service. Brian Whipp is the exception and truly cares about his patrons, no question! The steaks, appetizers, and salads at Golden Bull are pretty exceptional, but the service just completely stands out, they will do you right! Highly recommend Golden Bull for great dining, both inside and outside for completely different ambiance! Be sure to look for Brian, the tall guy usually out front. Super nice guy! And hopefully you will get Fiona as your server, you could not ask for a nicer, lovelier person!!

Our first time here. There were three in our party. We were seated in the bar area - Big mistake, too noisy. We started with a Caesar salad and a French Onion soup. Both were excellent. My wife and I shared the prime rib sandwich and substituted onion rings instead of the French fries, and added the creamed spinach. The sandwich was very good, although I thought that a little more meat would have helped. The onion rings were some of the best we've ever had. The creamed spinach was amazing. Our friend ordered the Golden Bull Burger, which was excellent. Kelly, our waiter did a great job. Lance was also terrific. He was the server/busser. Great food and great service, what else could you want?

The food was phenomenal! Everything tasted great and was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was kind and efficient. The place was very "kitch"! Very trendy and popular place. Excellent location. Full bar with excellent choices of wines and aperitifs

    Do you accept reservations?

Yes we do! We are available on OpenTable or you can give us a call at (310) 230-0402 to make a reservation!

Is happy hour only in the bar area?

We offer Happy Hour on the Patio as well as the Bar Area Monday - Friday from 4pm-5:30pm

What if you don't want valet parking?

Street parking in the area is extremely difficult to find because it's right off PCH, and a lot of the street parking is taken by the valet for restaurants on the street. Your only option will likely be to pay $16 to valet park.

    What time is happy hour?

Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 4pm to 5:30pm.

March 06, 2021 -- open for lunch? Website says open at 3pm, but Resy taking lunch reservations!

Yes we open at 12pm on the weekends again

Can't wait to visit this restaurant, I've heard only great things about it. What day and time do they have live music?

We do not have live music as we’re not allowed to have entertainment or anything that would draw a crowd. But we have an amazing happy hour and the best atmosphere!! Looking forward to having you dine with us

Parking: They have an adjacent paid parking lot though metered street parking is cheaper since they unfortunately don't validate. Ambiance: Really gorgeous inside, with high arced wooden beam ceilings, natural light through skylights, romantic dim lighting, candles, lots of potted trees for greenery, and velvet seating to add elegance. Even the plates are worth admiring. They have a nice patio with heat lamps for cooler evenings as well. I absolutely love the vibes for date night. I have eaten here four times now and have a reservation ready for my fifth. The menu changes EVERY WEEK and the fact that the ingredients are so seasonal, and the chef really seems to takes pride and passion in creating different dishes so often, keeps me coming back each time. They have done specials from Sunday Night $35 7-course omakase to 50% off Neighborhood Patio nights to $65 for two 4-course date nights and the quality is so worth it. I even came by for an art class hosted on the patio since they hold multiple community events, including sports watch parties. The best yellowtail I've had (including eating in Japan and various sushi spots in LA, OC, SF, and NY) was surprisingly here, at a place I was honestly hesitant to even order sushi from. It's the first time I actually really could taste the flavor as it's more subtle than tuna, salmon, or albacore but they somehow made it incredibly memorable from the freshness. Definitely order the hamachi with pomegranate. I loved the flavor with the ponzu and that it wasn't just the basic jalapeño combo. There was a Singaporean crab garlic butter noodle dish they made once that was incredible though sadly seemed to be on the menu that time only. This was my absolute favorite entree they've offered so far. The gem lettuces Caesar salad is amazing although unfortunately, both times I've ordered it without cheese, they forgot. The boquerones (anchovies) are a gem (ha) that really adds to the salad and I love the texture from the herb crust. Their signature shrimp toast has a good crunch from the sesame seeds and distinct pieces of shrimp rather than mush inside and the ikura on top adds another good layer of flavor. The vegetable curry was rich, flavorful, and savory witbout being too heavy with perfectly cooked potatoes that didn't just hide in the sauce in a way that actually didn't make me miss the meat. The short rib curry had such tender meat and the roti made in house was actually a major highlight for me as it was so flaky, hot, crispy and had an amazing garlic flavor. The chocolate pot de creme had a good orange zest flavor to add to the chocolate and wasn't too rich or heavy though the texture was thicker. The calamari had super crispy batter so didn't associate it as much with a lighter tempura one but the lemons in it and the roasted garlic marinara sauce it came with were so good and added a lot of depth. The butter curry prawns has SUCH well cooked shrimp - flavor was amazing. Miso salmon was good though crispy skin side up would have been better personally. I liked the olive oil flavor in the vinaigrette and the lemon with veggies on the side as well. The tres leches was surprisingly light for a cake and very moist so I enjoyed a lot and the caramel ice cream wasn't overly sweet. The lychee vodka drink is my favorite (came with a drink pairing they offered with Sunday omakase) and the imperial gold yuzu cocktail is better for those who like a stronger drink. The grilled asparagus was cooked to a tenderness with great flavor from the crispy onions on top that have somehow made it among my top favorite dishes here, despite it just being a small side vegetable dish but I didn't like asparagus until this! I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner over brunch personally, as those have been my most memorable bites. Definitely order the yellowtail sashimi, shrimp toast, gem lettuces Caesar salad! Hoping the garlic butter crab noodles, grilled asparagus with crispy onions, and housemade roti reappear on the dinner menu!

The purple cabbage was crunchy & fresh. The white rice underneath hot and soft. Enjoyed the contrast of textures. Good sized portion too. Since it's summer, I was so happy we sat on the patio instead of inside. We went around 7:45 PM and there was the perfect little breeze, which made the whole dinner even better. Everyone who works here is genuinely a vibe -- super chill, friendly, and welcoming. Alec was our server and we vibed from the jump! Now for the food because we ORDERED: Pacific oysters on the half shell -- honestly, you can skip these. Nothing wrong with them, but there are way more interesting things on the menu. Korean aguachile -- SO unique. The flounder was incredibly fresh and it came swimming in this cold kimchi broth that was tangy, refreshing, and almost gave me spicy water naengmyeon vibes. Crispy kimchi pancake -- a fan favorite at the table. The basil leaves layered on top added this unexpected burst of flavor, and there was a little mala element that gave the whole thing so much dimension. Chicken wings -- fried PERFECTLY. If you're only getting one thing from the small plates, I'd go with the wings. Chilled acorn noodles -- DO NOT SLEEP ON THESE!! Stone pot steak tartare -- my #1!!! The raw beef mixed into the rice was already amazing, but then you get that crispy rice at the bottom to soak up every last bit of flavor left in the bowl. So good. Beef short rib -- HOLY COW. Cooked to medium rare perfection. You absolutely need to order the assorted lettuces with it and make little wraps. One of the highlights of the entire meal. We finished with the strawberry bingsu and hotteok, which honestly made for the perfect dessert combo. Also, a little tip: corkage is only $30, so if you have a bottle of wine you've been saving or wanting to try, DEFINITELY bring it to dinner. Overall, vibes were HIGH. As a Korean, I loved seeing familiar Korean flavors used in ways that still felt creative and unexpected. The Mulberry gets the full recognition and stars it deserves from me, and I'll absolutely be back. The only thing that left us a little confused was the bill. There's a 20% service charge added, but it states that it isn't a tip and that they're a no-tipping establishment. We were also told that the service charge doesn't go directly to the staff, which made us wonder where exactly that 20% goes. I'd personally love a little more transparency around that. If you really appreciate your server, you can always ask if they have Venmo because Alec definitely deserved the love!

Sounds simple but there are many ways to screw up a burger and a salad. And there are fewer ways to knock it out of the park and they did just that. I don't think people appreciate what goes into a well-thought out salad. This was mostly a kale-based salad (I think) so they've already chosen the vegetable equivalent of making life difficult. Kale is basically a dare. But the size and shape and quality of the ingredients was not lost on me. The torn versus diced chicken, the large pieces of nuts, the long thin spears of apple. So you KNOW what is on your fork and what is going into your mouth and can appreciate it. What impressed me also was that when the table/booth next to us was vacated, one of the staff came over and DETAILED that booth... Looked for crumbs in the cracks of the cushion... pulled out the two chairs facing the bench and thoroughly swept under the table like he was opening up for the day or clearing a crime scene or something. Why can't we have places like this in the Valley? Is it because we are poor and mostly in-bred? I get it... but we like torn chicken and clean booths, too, ya know. (They had REAL candles. Not flicker LED fake candles. At some point all the restaurateurs had a pow-wow and agreed you do NOT let valley people get around real candles. A decision that I wholeheartedly agree with but I miss them.) Anyway. Try it.

For food, my aunts ordered EVERYTHING! we are a vegetable loving family and definitely got lots of yum yum that reflected that: ratatouille, salad, mushrooms, calamari, mashed potatoes, broccoli, salmon flatbread, and so much more. Everything was so flavorful! I really enjoyed every dish we got! If I had to choose some absolute favorites it would be the salad and the ratatouille! Both were incredible ( along with everything else). Finished the meal off with the pear dessert and a glass of port. Yummy! Great meal with family! I'll happily be back in Massilia to have another lovely dinner.
