I don't mostly come to a Michael's but I went to see their cricut selections. I found the aisle where the machines is at easily and looked at the prices. Oh man, this place has seen me at my worst and my best. Working in the art field and having hobbies in it, I am constantly making trips to this store. They somehow always have what I need even if it feels niche. I go in for one thing and end up leaving with a cart full. I appreciate the self checkout option since it's fast. They have good deals, you just have to go at the right time. Sign up for their point system, it's so worth it. They have so many different art mediums and holiday selections, I'm obsessed. Stopped by as this was listed as a UPS access point and I have to send things out sometimes from UPS for work. When I walked in I was greeted with so many CUTE Halloween things. I had to get back to work but I checked my watch and said I have five minutes, so after I dropped off my UPS package, I went to the Halloween section and stared at so many things I wanted. They are SO cute, and best thing was that they were on sale so in the end I got 3 items for the price of one big one I was looking at. Score! read more

Everytime i shop online for the 40% sales thatthey sometimes have, if theres low inventory or 2 items or less in inventory, i get an email saying my order has been canceled. Then i look online the next day and inventory is saying the same as previous, i order again. And it cancels my order. also, when they cancel my order, any voucher i use is not refunded till days later after the sales are over. So friggin frustrating!! read more

Terrible customer service and staff. We waited in like for 30-45 minutes behind someone doing a custom frame holding a jersey the whole time that we needed put into a shadow box and when we got to the guy (John S) let us know his work load is too much and he wouldn't be able to do this. Then we informed him that we just waited for 40 minutes standing there holding this without being acknowledged once, and we also had no deadline for the shadow box to be completed and he still let us know he wouldn't be able to complete this because it was 'too much work on his plate right now'. Then we called the manager after to complain and all he had to say was he was sorry and then he hung up. Joke of a company and sucks that it's such a large business nothing will be done! read more

The customer service lady from yesterday , older lady, was RUDE! I'm not sure where or who trained her when it comes to dealing with customers and assisting them when the need arises, but she FAILED the test! I would never write a review such as this but the way this lady handled customers yesterday including myself warranted this review. First of all, the place is clean. Well organized which is shocking given that this is a crafts place so I need to leave this positive remark about the place. Now, back to the lady. When one of the self-check out kiosk didn't work, I called out for assistance, and she ignored me. So I stood there for over 10 minutes waiting for someone and nobody showed up. So, I said," excuse me, could you please call for someone to assist me?" She looked and immediately said, "Just wait!" Now, in my head, I'm debating whether I should rip her a new one but thought, "Nah, just because she's having a bad day doesn't mean I should allow her to affect me!" So, she finally decided to come over my area, pressed a few buttons here and there and my receipt printed. I'm annoyed to think this is the attitude from someone who works in customer service. Second, why is this even allowed? Where's Management when you need someone? Michaels has everything you will ever need in way of arts and crafts. They have classes to teach you things from painting to making a wreath. They are full of ideas. You can always find all sorts of ideas and craft packages for kids to make. I was in a rut because I ordered a bunch of crafts from a company for my Sunday School students to make. No one seems to sell religious arts and crafts in stores but I found them at Michael's. It wasn't big selection but I was grateful to find what I did. I actually met the late David McCallum there picking up some crafts. They have sketching, painting, floral, candles & candle making kits. They have gemstones and findings for making jewelry, wood crafts for painting as well as Canvasses. It's really wonderful just how much they have. All the personnel know about everything you need to find and make something and how to do it. Michael's makes the world a better place. read more

Whenever I need a random craft item that will take too long to find on Amazon or I want to see it in real life I head to this craft store. Aury the MOD- was extremely professional and so genuine and always was willing to assist and spend the time to answer any questions I had and took her time to walk me to specific aisles I needed to go to and made sure I found what I needed at the time Danny- I needed help to carry some stuff to my car and he was more than happy to help me out and carry the stuff for me and assist me. John G. Spent a good amount of time to help me find the correct size of frames I needed and helped me with figuring out the best frames for my paintings. I have been home sick and am an avid student of all painting types. This review is about two separate issues. My first issue has to do with a price match. I ordered an item on 5/7 that still hasn't arrived and it popped up on my Amazon for $41 less. I tried to "chat" with customer service three times and they had high volumes and disconnected me. Then this morning I finally connected with someone and they said no you can't get a price match because 7 days have passed! I have been home sick and told not to go out etc. your customer service department disconnected me and you won't honor my request on the 8th day! The other issue is that this particular store has had very limited supplies of fine art painting supplies. The same "used" brushes have been on display for over a year. You order online for store pickup and often times your order is canceled because their inventory doesn't match. I have been to other stores and I get that there is a shortage of workers and supply chain but their store seems more like a dollar tree than the other Michael's in Encino or Moorpark. I have two gift cards left and will no longer be buying from Michael's. read more

Stopped in to this Michael's yesterday to help a friend find some paper and stickers for a project. Ended up buying a few planner items for myself at the same time. The store was in transition; they were moving items around, and some of the signage didn't match. It felt a bit confusing. In the end, they didn't have the kind of paper my friend needed, but we did find stickers for her at a reasonable price. Checkout was relatively quick. We did get help from several employees on the floor, which was good. One didn't know where the planners had been moved to, so that wasn't as helpful. The store didn't seem as well merchandised as in some other locations. We moved on to Office Depot in search of decorative letter sized paper. read more

This review is for the complete and utter incompetence demonstrated by the framing department. Do yourself a favor and get your framing done elsewhere. We dropped off an order on 1/24. It was promised 3 frame jobs to be completed in 2 weeks. They missed that day and gave me a discount. Now, 60 plus days later, the two of the three are completed. They said they weren't capable of framing the box around a wall hanging. They also neglected to communicate anything at all about this at any time. This place is a clown show. read more

I've been a loyal customer for years, but after my recent experiences, I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. I ordered online for curbside pickup from the West Hills location. Not only is the website an absolute nightmare to deal with (displaying items that are out of stock--and letting you put them in your cart, etc.) but the staff at this location is even worse. I ordered yesterday and picked up today. They never emailed me when my order was ready, which meant I couldn't do same-day pickup as I planned and as their website stated..but that was the least of the problems. I ordered almost $75 worth of art supplies and they gave me a pack of canvases with a hole in them! After being given a DAMAGED PRODUCT, they then refused to take it back or give me a new one. Without even an apology, I was told I needed to hold onto my damaged item for weeks until the stores open and accept returns. There's a reason I bought these items now, because I need them now. I asked if they could at least refund me for the pack, or mail me a new canvas, or literally offer any help at all for their mistake. She said no--and then gave me another number to call to get rid of me. I called the number, and it's just an automated system that hangs up on you! So now I'm left to pay for this damaged product because of the carelessness of the employee who put my bag together. They obviously don't care about their loyal customers, so I will find a business that does. read more

The customer service given by Aury at their store on Fallbrook in West Hills was unheard of these days. She knew every item in the store, she took the time to discuss options to fix a Christmas heirloom before I packed it away for next year. I was so impressed with her, I asked her what she was studying in college - she wants to be a school teacher. That says it all. She knows the pay is not good, but that's what will make her happy. Why can't stores find people like Aury - that's will make people like me go back into the stores instead of Amazon. I got a canvas custom framed in November, but when we opened the package for Christmas it was wavy and poorly stretched. I brought it back in and Chris was appalled. He took it personally that I had received such a bad product. He promised to re-do it himself, clearly invested in doing a perfect job, which he absolutely did. He took care of it right away, called me to let me know, and showed me his work before wrapping it up again. Best experience I've had at a Michael's for sure. read more

Sam, the manager is amazing!! I went shopping a day after Christmas hoping to find good discounts and Sam the manager helped me out! First of all give this girl a raise she was so patient and so helpful!! People usually just point at isles, but she went above and beyond helping me find the perfect tree she even offered to light it up for me to make sure it's the color I wanted. Her customer service is amazing and it's times like these where it's greatly appreciated! She also recommended me out door lights after telling her we just bought our first home and she was right, they are bright! we hung them in the back. It may be corporate policy for all Michael's stores. But at this store (@ West Hills), I couldn't buy Michael's own Gift Cards with a credit card, only accepting cash or a debit card. This is the very first time I've encountered such a store policy regarding exclusion of credit card as an acceptable form of payment at a major retail chain. And to make matters worst, I only found out when I was at the register, and NOWHERE on the Gift Card stand was there sign indicating that all Gift Cards EXCEPT for its own, can be paid by credit card. This was a total waste of my time waiting in line. (Of course, I didn't buy it.) Also, Michael's online Support Center does neither discuss its acceptable payment method for its Gift Cards via its FAQ section nor allow you to chat. Bottom line, Michael's needs to be very transparent on this matter. Post Review (12/21/22) . Just spoke to my sister who said she recently bought Michael's own Gift Card with her credit card at another Michael's Store (in SGV). I very rarely come back to write reviews. I always feel bad writing poorly about businesses. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and you have to move on. But this has happened several times at this location so I feel it's time. I come there and shop on occasion. Whenever I fill up multiple carts for holidays etc, I am baffled by the service. There is a very angry older lady working there who has the worst attitude - and she always does. Ok. Moving on. She scans and bags so slow. Not because of her age, she's not that old! It's because she hates her job. You can feel it. She hates people. You can feel all that too. Her face is angry. It makes you question why you are spending money and waiting for her to complete the transaction 20 minutes into scanning and bagging. Now manager comes over for another woman complaining about the kiosk self service. Now, he sees this woman "helping" me and clearly struggling to do this job. He does nothing. Ok. I finally take two carts away and start scanning myself because I can't hang out in Michael's all day. I have two transactions going on now. Of course I finish mine first, because I want to leave so badly. Then this angry human says I'm finished. That's all. I checkout with her. But no - no carts are allowed out in the parking lot LOL. So three carts full of stuff are now bagged and on the ground waiting for me to go get my car and bring it over to the emergency exit so I can block the parking lot to go back in and out of the store to fill my car up. NEVER AGAIN. I am done supporting a business who has poor customer service. The manager was sweet. But he needs to start handling business to help his staff when they are struggling. Ok. Rant over. Store is stocked well. It's nicely merchandised. Bathrooms are "closed" to public. So, if nature hits while shopping - you will be sheet out of luck! Service is just so bad - I'd say a few people working there are miserable. Mostly the women. The men seem to be grateful to have the job. I needed a special item framed and Raymond (took my order and presented several options) and Chris (performed the work) were great. Raymond was professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. Chris did a great job and my son was really happy with the outcome (a signed basketball Jersey). Michaels in West Hills is a nice large store with a big parking lot. Prices are better here than at Joann's. Coupons are easy to access online and they usually have a better selection of everything except fabric than the nearby Joann's. Michaels doesn't carry fabric. If you comparison shop the craft items, you'd realize that some things are cheaper to grab at the Walmart in the same shopping center. Recently used a coupon and was shopping for craft paint, glue, ribbon, safety pins, buttons, and paper. I paid at least a dollar more per item using coupons at Michaels than if I purchased those items at Walmart. On the flip side, those things tend to be more at Joann's than Michaels. I noticed for example, an acid-free glue at Joann's for $4.99, same exact glue at Michaels was $2.99. At Walmart it was $2.49. If you use coupons at Michaels, you get the best price. Since convenience factors in, prices are not always the main factor if in one place over the other but this info is good to know if you buy a lot and might want to spend less. Michaels tends to be the best place to grab your craft items and those coupons can help save but Walmart's craft selection is decent and worth checking out if you are going to go in there anyways for other things. read more
