She cut my hair completely different but also much more stylish than my last stylist so I was happy. I had a not so good experience at Michele Lynn. I scheduled an appt here because I just moved to the area from out of state and wanted a local place that I could call "my own" for the next few years as my husband and I settle into the South Loop. Since there were good reviews, I had gotten a coupon in the mail, and I was in desperate need for a cut and color, I decided to give it a shot. I called and made an appt same day, which was very nice. I was set up with a young Asian associate who has punk rocker hair. Since I have been highlighting my hair since high school (10+ years), I know my hair very well. I explained exactly what I wanted (low/highlights that will blend well as they grown out, go a little bit darker, and ash blonde color) and warned her that my hair tends to pull warm tones, so go for as ashy as possible. I also have an upcoming wedding which I am standing up in, so I wanted to make sure I look OK for that. Of course, I got exactly what I didn't want: bright brassy blonde hair, no lowlights that almost look like allover color, so you will see my roots as soon as I start to grow out. When I tried to explain the problem, she said "it's blonde for summer!" It's like she didn't even listen to me at all when I started the appt!!! So after that, she said she wasn't finished and put a glaze on my head, which I asked (since I am on a budget) if it was part of the color and she agreed. Not much changed, so I asked for the manager or owner. Michele is the bright shining spot of this whole experience. She was so sweet, and offered to touch up my hair free of charge and she even did the cut herself afterwards. I would definitely think about seeing her again, although the initial experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. She did a great job. Michele gave me an extra discount on top of my coupon, but the first girl ended up charging me an extra $45 for the glaze and color on top of the highlight and haircut price so it pretty much wiped out any savings I may have had. Even with the discounts, I spent $150+. It wasn't worth my time after all of that to dispute anything more. I wish I would have just booked with Michele to begin with because I might have gone back, but I am going to find somewhere else in the South Loop from now on. read more

I tried this South Loop salon a year after it opened and sorry I waited the year. Very clean, good stylists and centrally located in the neighborhood. Pricing is very competitive and they have a referral program. Not just for women either. read more

I really love this place. I do not see Michele I see a different lady (right chair closest to front on right). She is great. She can cut all different types of hair styles..and well!! I watched her cut the mom who was before me and gave her a great Mom do. Really looked awesome. Then she gave my friend (girl) a really cute funky Mohawk, then she gave me just a good bob! I have never left upset. The only complain I have is that they are getting rid of their 50% off coupons and therefore after I use the two I have left I will have to go somewhere else. Michele has been doing my hair for many years... before she opened her own salon on Michigan Ave. I have always been very low maintenance with my hair, and like to switch up my style every so often. I always love the suggestions Michele gives, and I can tell that she is always keeping up with the latest techniques and trends. When she cuts my hair, I rarely need to get another cut for a couple months....which suits me perfectly. I have always been on a budget, so I go to the Aveda institute occasionally because of their cheap haircuts. I always end up going to Michele a month later because you get what you pay for. Compared to other salons I think Michele Lynn's is very reasonable considering the quality and attention you receive. read more

Michele is a very talented hairstylist. Such a smart lady too. I came into the salon not really knowing what to do with my hair or hair color. I have very long and dry hair. The only thing I told her was that I wanted to keep it long and layered. She knew exactly what to do with my hair. She studied the shape of my face and my features. I also have very thick and coarse Asian hair and not a lot of stylists know how to cut Asian hair. She gave me caramel highlights and she knew it would fit my skin tone perfectly. She gave my hair a conditioning treatment and all of a sudden my hair had a new life! The haircut she gave me was also very stylish! I am glad she is in the neighborhood. Walked in and told Michelle exactly what NOT to do to my hair. She did everything I asked her NOT to do. Do not butch the back of my hair as I just grew it out, hair was maybe 1/16" long. Do not give me whispy bangs, I have whispy bangs that drive me nuts and do not sit right or look good. Do not give me a style that i have to use tons of product in, I have to use so much product to make this cut look even semi-decent. I had just spent months growing out the back, now I have to spend months growing out the whole cut! She cannot fix it as there is no more hair left to cut...very unhappy read more

Okay so this is my new go to salon. I absolutely love Michele, she does a great job cutting my hair. I wasn't totally thrilled after my first visit but that was b/c of the price...$72 is really steep for someone w/tons of debt and had just started a new job...now a year later and almost debt free, my wallet can finally afford this place :) I have always gotten tons of compliments after Michele has cut my hair (which has been 3 times now)...She is great at what she does and the price is totally worth it. Plus they have specials and send out coupons in the south loop mailer. I just booked color with her for two weeks from now so I'm hopeful she will be just as great at that! I have been a fan of Michele Lynn's Salon from day one! I am a brunette and have always struggled with stylists coloring my hair and having it turn out BLACK! I've always explained that I want to be a chocolate brown brunette, but NO ONE every got it right. That is - until Michele became my stylist...She is so wonderful. She listens, asks questions, and obviously knows what she's doing. I have chocolate brown hair and I'm thrilled with it. The cut is amazing and stylish, too! So I went to Michele Lynn to dye my hair yesterday, the person that helped me dye my hair seemed pretty nice, but all throughout the time she was trying to sell me hair products and offering services like 'conditioning' or something which costs $15 ... she was really pushy about her products, why can't I just go in and dye my hair in peace. Its fine if you offer once, but it was like.... It went on for a good 20+ minutes. After she finished dying my hair, which turned out average, I found out I was charged $30 extra for a 'glaze' service she didn't even ask me if I wanted. I just think it's a little shady to do something without telling the customer how much it costs. The way she explained it I thought it was part of the process. I just think if she knew how to do business, she wouldn't have charged me the $30 leading me write this review and telling all my friends about how shady they are. This place is average; my hair is really NOT smooth after they dyed it, maybe because she put some product in it? I'm not sure what she did. I guess just make sure they don't give you services that didn't ask for. read more
