I brought a brightly patterned Simon Miller sweater to Michelle Cleaners all the way from Brooklyn after washing it according to instructions and having the color bleed everywhere. It was an emergency operation. They brought it to their guy who tried to make the white parts white again, and after trying a patch, said it could not be done. Man I don't think I've found a friendlier laundromat / dry cleaner before anywhere. This place is great. They also fixed a coat of mine that had had the fastener poppers ripped off the hood last year in early 2020. After taking it to numerous places around the city, all claimed they couldn't fix it, but these guys did it cheaply, quickly and with a smile. 10/10! Went back to Michelle's today (Dec 2020) to fix a hairline rip along a seam in another jacket. Without hesitation, they fixed it right up, ready by the next day. These guys are great, they have been indispensable in fixing now not 1 but 2 of my coats! Let me preface this review by saying, Michelle herself is amazing and if you get an opportunity to deal with her directly, you will get top tier service! However, recently I brought in a designer item for cleaning, and was quoted $10 for the service only to be contacted several minutes later to be told that it would now be $35 to clean the item. The item wasn't heavily soiled or stained. It was just an item that needed to be freshened up and the label indicated it needed to be dry cleaned only. When we asked why the $25 up charge to clean the pants were assessed, we were told it was because it was a designer item. Did that mean they were going to use designer cleaners? Or something different if it wasn't designer? No. It was just because designer item. And again, this was a simple athleisure type item. Not a ball gown, sequins or any complicated fabric mixture. That makes no sense. Needless to say, we didn't get the item cleaned. Would definitely still go there for Michelle's expert alteration services in a pinch but for dry cleaning services, there are too many options to bother with inflated prices because a company just feels like charging you more. After reading amazing reviews, I was excited to use Michelle Cleaners for my most special garments. It was significantly more expensive than other dry cleaners I had used, but I figured it was worthy the price. While the owners were very kind and welcoming, I'm extremely disappointed in their services. My coat came back with many wrinkles set into the fabric that will be hard to get out. They also promised to repair a tear, which came back unfixed. I do not recommend this dry cleaner. read more

Finally my sheets and clothes smell good when I take them for wash and fold!! At $0.90 a pound it is not the cheapest place to get your clothes washed and folded, however they are the best place I have been to in NYC so far. When I dropped my clothes off they told me they would wash my clothes in 3 different loads: lights, darks, and whites at no extra cost. Living in NYC this is a miracle. At every other laundromat I have been to they charge extra for separating clothes. The laundromat is immaculate and the machines they use look pretty new. My clothes came back with a lot less lint than I have had before. So nice! If you drop off your clothes early in the morning they can get them back to you that evening. If not, expect to drop off your clothes and pick them up the next day. If you are too busy to drop your laundry off, just call Michelle and there is free pick up and delivery. Michelle is so friendly and she seems to really care about her customers. If you are a new customer she will give you 20% your first drop off. Thank you yelp for guiding me to Michelle's Cleaners. Regrettable! I've been a customer for years, and the professionalism has finally come to an all time low to make me feel I have no choice but to take my business else where. I take pride in my appearance and my wardrobe, and after years of having my laundry and my dry-cleaning done here with my more casual attire i.e. Less expensive, and after getting to know Michelle and the staff, I felt I could trust them with my more prized garments. But regrettably, after they not only RUINED six dresses that I planned on wearing for years to come by instead of separating them from the laundry and pay professional attention to them, they were WHITE for crying out loud, and they threw them in the damn washer with my jeans!!!!!!!!!! Awhhhhh!!! They of course claimed it was an accident, and the staff said they'd look into it and offer some sort of credit to my account. (You won't believe how much money I've spent here) which I NEVER received. I even sent my comforter in that my dog had an accident on when she was sick at the time, and when I went to pick it up, they handed it to me still dirty with stains on it, and when I spoke about it, they said "we do again" why would I trust another new person that apparently couldn't wash it correctly the first time!? So, I went down to my local laundromat to do it myself after I ALREADY PAID TO HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY WASHED! But their staff recently changes now from week to week, I no longer know whom I'm speaking to, they'll say; "oh she not here no mo, she fire, I handle you now" And I'd receive a shocking new staff member regularly, why can't they keep their staff now? And yet, my trusting self, still felt that I new the owner, Michelle well enough. I used to be able to call her or text her on her cell phone and feel great about our communication. That's why this last time was really the cherry on top! I entrusted Michelle personally with my one of a kind custom made designer dress, this is the only one made from VAKKO in the world. It had one small wine stain on the upper portion of the dress which was white satin, with the bottom portion being all dark midnight blue, I'll show a photo of when I wore it at its perfection on New Year's Eve of 2016. The owner, Michelle said she'd take it to the plant herself and make sure it is top priority and give special instructions to the Plant's Owner whom she claimed she knew. I asked her to please call me as soon as it is ready. THREE WEEKS LATER, I called and called and called but because Michelle is never there anymore because she opened another of her cleaners in Flushing Queens and apparently doesn't give a care any longer for her First Store here in the East Village! Now, I come in in person, and no one seems to know what dress I'm talking about or where it is! I call Michelle and text, and she never replies. I'm honestly very emotional about being taken advantage of, and tired of writing so let's just get to the end shall we, although there are plenty of gruesome details to add, perhaps another time... In the end, I never heard back from Michelle or saw her again, otherwise I'd told her all this to her face, it's clear she doesn't want to face me although she gave me a lint brush once for Christmas for being such a loyal customer, how nice of her. ***My dress, the dress, was returned three times, her mother, the tailor there got involved and said that she didn't understand why Michelle sent my dress to the plant with the white part attached to the dark blue part, because it came back twice where it looked like it was ruined and I was already making arrangements to have it sent to the designer to remake the top part. But her mother asked me to give her one last chance to have it done separately and that she'd remove the seam herself and send it in on its own. After THREE MONTHS, I got my dress back and vowed to never step foot in Michelle's again, what a nightmare! This place is only meant for washing guys dirty underwear and socks, they're real good at that, do not as a woman entrust them with your beautiful wardrobe that you've invested a lot of time and money in. read more

This is my first non-food-related review, and probably my last 'cleaners' review. Because reviewing cleaners feels awkward to me. Unless a cleaner does something horrible to my clothes (or myself). But I'm jumping ahead of myself. Michelle is great. Amidst all the competition in the area -- the density of dry cleaners in the east village, and even Ave C, is denser than the population of some midwestern states -- Michelle (yes, that's her name) manages to provide a friendly, quick, accommodating, personalized service. She knows me by name, she acquiesces to my requests in terms of timeframes, and she's always honest about when she can't accommodate something (which is rare). I never lost anything, although once I got a woman's underwear back in my wash and fold. I considered it as a bonus, and then decided to simply return it. I've been coming here once every two weeks for years, since she opened the place up, and I'll come here until I move from the neighborhood. read more

I'm definitely a fan! Can't beat free pickup/delivery, same day wash & fold, and reasonable prices for a local laundromat. They also do wash & press ($2 per shirt or $4.75/pant) and dry cleaning if you need. I live in Alphabet City, so not sure if that skews this review to being more accessible than others, but all it took from me was a phone call identifying pickup time and address and they did the rest. You can also leave a card on file if you plan to do multiple orders. Only negative so far has been that one of my work shirts was damaged (lost a button and some threads in the wrist came undone). read more

I have used Michelle's Cleaners for over 20 years. There has not been a single problem over all that time. Every bag of laundry and item to be dry- cleaned, pressed, or tailored has been processed flawlessly with impeccable care. Honestly, the experience has given my time in NYC a warm glow. For years Michelle had a dear guy, Candido, doing deliveries. He was warm; truly a hard worker, with a terrific attitude. During the pandemic, he went back to his country, so for the moment, Michelle is just offering drop off/pick up service. But, all her customers I have spoken to agree with me, it is actually fine to do our own schlepping. We have found it fun to get to chat with Michelle a little, as well as sometimes with neighbors there we wouldn't have met otherwise. MIchelle is ever convivial; moving quickly, but with a smile on her face. Tonight I discovered I had ripped the top beautiful TJ Maxx bag with the heavy laundry. Michelle typically has good wash and fold service and delivers quickly. Their weekday hours are 7:30 - 7:30 which is perfect for dropping off in the way to work. However the last time I went no one there until after 8:15 so I was late to work had to wait considering I needed the clothes washed that day. Unreliable opening times are unacceptable. read more

Excellent work, but not cheap and takes a while. I dropped off my favorite leather jacket about two weeks ago with the lining completely torn out of both sleeves. The fix was not a particularly easy one and certainly time consuming. I finally got to pick my jacket up a week later than it was promised to me (two weeks total) BUT the work is amazing. My jacket looks completely new! For me, the trade off is well worth it and I'm 100% happy, but if I was getting something fixed up for an event, I could see the inattention to dates being stressful. That said, maybe leather takes significantly longer than other fixes or maybe there were other people who stopped by during this time who needed their items back urgently, so keep that in mind. TLDR; highly recommended, great work, be prepared to wait a little. read more

I had ordered for laundry pick-up between 9:30AM-10:30AM. They confirmed. At 10:33AM they called and said they were never able to come. DO NOT COUNT ON THEM. What they did was explain that they are too far away for pick up. (I am on the Lower East Side, so this is ridiculous). They said they only have a bicycle, also ridiculous... this is laundry.
