They have a great variety of sake, too. I've had one that was really light and so crisp tasting, but I almost always go with the suggestion of the server since I am not a sake connoisseur. So here we are, 5 months later, I decided to take my family here for another try, David (owner) was very generous, he treated us (5) a big dinner and offered us a gift card to be back again in the future. Foods: We didn't see or taste anything weird, they were very yummy and fresh like how they're suppose to be. - Must try their oysters!!!!! Raw (Blue Point Oysters) or fried (Pablo seaweed pacific oysters) - they are so huuugeeeeeee and fresh! - High Ride Roll : this is a new roll that recently added to the menu, they have fried oyster in the middle with salmon, tuna and yellow tail sashimi on the outside with their special sauces. This roll stands out the most in taste and is a must try! - and anything that has yellow tail!!! Went in for a mid week lunch. Not very busy. Service was pretty quick and we were checked up on often. Our server recommended some off the menu items that were really good. Sushi had a good mix of flavors. Didn't even need soy or wasabi but I still used some. Rolls did seem a little pricy but at least the taste and display was right. 4 rolls and 2 starters @ $75. I am tempted to give this place 5 stars. I am a sushi snob. I don't eat it everywhere. However, it was well prepared and fresh. I loved the creativity in the rolls and appetizers. The service is excellent. I had a c2 roll which was amazing and a crashimi plate. The crashimi plate is similar to the sashimi with the addition of rice. The rice was topped with some type of red pickled peppers (sweet not hot) which really set off the flavors. I'm looking forward to going back and perhaps raising my review to 5 stars. They definetly have the potential. I would like to try a couple more things. One thing I really enjoyed was their extensive sake menu. It reminded me of Katsuya in the valley in Cali. read more

This was our second time having come to Michiru. It did not disappoint. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. We had a couple drinks and ordered fried gyoza and crab wontons as warm ups. Then we had multiple specialty rolls. Each roll was delicious, perfectly rolled and fresh! Michiru is a little bit more expensive than some of the other sushi restaurants in the area, but it's well worth it. We have not had any issue on either occasion that we have been, and gladly recommend it to anyone looking for sushi in the area. read more

Service was friendly, environment was nice for a romantic evening (but even nice for a business trip to the area as well) and was clean. This is my favorite local sushi place when I need my sushi fix. I've always had great service whether sitting in the dining area or the bar. The wait staff is super attentive to "regulars" and I've never been disappointed. The sushi- the crazy crab roll, the Triton roll, the Kanpachi- everything I've tried, I've loved! They now have spicy edamame added to their menu and you can't go wrong with the Yellowtail appetizer with jalapeño and ponzu. They have a loyalty program as well that earns you points for $$ off your tab. I've accumulated so many that my $200 tab with friends was completely FREE. ;-) read more

I return this afternoon (Friday) to try their lunch special menu. Three regular house rolls for $10 with a choice of miso, hot and sour, or wonton soup. I chose Spicy Salmon roll, New York roll and Philly roll. The New York Roll is made with salmon, spicy mayo and thin slices of apple. The Spicy Salmon roll is chopped fresh salmon mixed with spicy mayo and chile sauce, while the Philly Roll is salmon, avocado and cream cheese. Last time I ate here the rolls were mushy and fell apart very easily when picking them up. If they survived being picked up, then they fell apart when being dipped in soy sauce. This time my New York Roll and Philly Roll were firm and well constructed. The Spicy Salmon roll still had issues with the rice not being compacted very well and the whole roll falling apart when you picked it up. My dining partner had his rolls made with brown rice and most of the pieces fell apart as he picked them up; however brown rice is not very sticky, so he expected them to have some problems. Our waiter, Hank, was very helpful, attentive and polite. This is my third time at Michiru and I probably like him the best out of all their wait staff. Another reviewer here mentioned him too, so I must not be alone in my thinking. I'll come back again and maybe try a few specialty rolls. The Spicy Salmon roll has fallen apart the past three times I've gotten it, so I'll probably try to stick to other items in the future. read more

Best place to have sushi in the Clear Lake area. Fresh, fresh sushi - there's not a place in the area that compares. Quite frankly, we were surprised the first time because it's in a small strip center and normally would think it would be one of those "fast-food" sushi places.. You walk in and don't even feel like it. Warm, yet modern decor, soft lighting. Good balance of seating - booths, tables, bar seating. Creative presentations. Usually sit at the bar love getting served by Stevie (he waits some time too). Extremely knowledgeable about the dishes. Usually ask him just to make a recommendation. Head chef is very nice (think his name is Lance? sorry, I forgot). I'm a sashimi fan so I can't say tons about the rolls but I pretty sure my daughter's had everyone and hasn't been disappointed yet. I can say the rolls are always put together well. Not too much rice and more about the fish and combination of flavors. Again - fresh! The only couple of weird things I've encountered was they serve Pringles chips with Tuna Tartare (y'all really need to get wontons or other chips) and both their spring and summer rolls are fried (thought spring wasn't suppose to be). I can't think of anything I didn't like about this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was classy and relaxing. The food was very tasty and artfully presented. AND I discovered I like sushi! For years I've not liked sushi because of the seaweed. Well, here the menu mentioned something about soy paper, which I asked and found out was an alternative to seaweed. We ordered both our rolls with soy paper and I loved them! Which is great news because my husband loves sushi, but we usually avoid it because I'm not a huge fan. Now, I can eat sushi, I just need to ask for an alternative to seaweed. We found that this is the best sushi restaurant in our area. We love the food as well. Always super busy. If you go on a weekend I highly suggest calling and making a reservation. Make sure ask what they're special rolls are. Triton is one of the fellas favorites. The pear cold saki is pretty delish. Light and refreshing. The fried spring rolls are bomb in your mouth. I could eat them for a meal. I've had a few bento boxes in my time. Ok let me explain the four stars versus five stars.... The food outside of the sushi was all over done. Now saying that the service was AMAZING! We sat at the bar where Bree was running everything on a busy Friday night by herself, and she handled it like a boss! My husband ordered the sea bass and was very disappointed due to it being over cooked. He briefly expressed his concerns with it, and explained that we weren't looking for a discount just that our sea bass and our salmon puffs were over cooked (and a little burnt). Well unknowingly to us she went to the owner to express our concerns. SERVICE! Most BUSY bar tenders would have just apologized and moved along. The owner came and spoke with us to personally apologize she was so nice and sweet. This to me is the only place I'll come to for sushi. As far as the grill items maybe try it when they're not so busy. I ordered the fire island roll and it was really really good. Also I'm now an epic fan of Lychee Martini! They are good, not great. Had the seaweed salad (some bits weren't fresh) and tuna and spicy tuna rolls. WAY too heavy on the spicy mayo for the spicy tuna and it didn't hold together well at all. And honestly it was my least favorite spicy tuna to date. The regular tuna roll was rolled in a hurry but tasty. Server seemed bored and disinterested. Not rude, he was friendly. This place was amazing! I have found it very hard to find a good sushi place in the Clear Lake area but my wishes came true when I tried Michiru. I was impressed overall. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is due to the high prices! I wish it were a bit more affordable in comparison to other sushi places in the area. However, I can say it's the best sushi I've had in this part of Houston. For appetizer I had crab wontons with REAL crab. We ordered the Michiru roll and the Fire Island roll. Both very good but fire island would be the best. And to finish up, the tempura cheesecake with green tea ice cream was divine. I will definitely be returning. I was really surprised how popular Michiru was! It's a Japanese restaurant stuck in front of the Cinemark theater, so we stopped by after watching a movie. By 7pm, people had to wait for tables. It was a little hard to hear my friends over the semi-loud atmosphere, but the decor itself is simple and nice. :) My friends both got sushi rolls (their favorite was the dynamite roll), and I got the almond-crusted salmon. The two super-thin salmon steaks was a little overcooked/dry for me, and it comes with overly sauced vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, and onions. Your choice of steamed white or brown rice. The taste was good, but not spectacular. There's a large sushi bar area where you can eat and watch the sushi chefs at work. The sashimi plates looked really beautiful and creative! :) Our waitress, as well as other staff, was really nice! Most of Michiru's charm is presentation, but I wouldn't come back unless we were super hungry after a movie. I can get better tasting Japanese food at a better place elsewhere!~ read more

My girlfriends and I decided to come here for sushi to celebrate a birthday. It wasn't busy when we got there for lunch on a Tuesday. I've never been to this place and I frequently go to the cinema behind it! We ordered a mix of different things. We got 3 different soups: miso, one with the dumpling in it, and another dark spicy one. I tried all 3 and the miso won me over. We also got the Salmon and Cuban rolls. I like the Cuban roll better just coz I like the crunch that came with it. Another friend ordered the shrimp calamari and sliced beef (medium rare) on top of jicamas. The calamari was really good and the other was quite interesting. And then another ordered the bento box with the breaded pork chop. Also, very well cooked. Crunchy on the outside and the meat is tender. To toast for the birthday celebrant, we ordered TYKU sake. My oh my... that one was very smooth! I have tried sake in a long time but this one for sure was a hit! This place is on the pricey end (compared to my usual sushi go-to places) but for the flavors, ambiance, and service - this place deserves 5 stars! read more

They said they could make it and since it was dinner for one of my kids I drove the 20 minutes back and got it instead of getting store credit. But instead of offering to compensate me for their mistake and the gas and time I spent retrieving it, they said "you didn't get credit cause you got your food now". I typically order the Chirashi and I've noticed the quality of fish has been steadily declining over the last few months. Small but cozy, though it can become quite crowded and noisy when folks fill the place up, the atmosphere inside Michiru Sushi is nice. It's dark and cool in the summer, a nice place to tuck into when out running around for a quick bite. They have a full bar too, which is nice if you're into cocktails. We had a cocktail special while we were there which is rare for me, since I usually don't drink due to my health medications. But one drink won't kill me, and the cherry cocktail they had one special looked really good--tasted good too! They have some nice small plates to choose from for appetizers, and we tried a couple to share at the table. They were good. Then we ordered different specialty rolls for the table, to try several different ones. I will definitely say the plates come beautifully decorated, with sauces that are drawn on the plate like pictures. One was a sunset type picture and another was flowers all over the plate. They were beautiful and tasty, almost too pretty to eat even! But beyond that beauty, food is supposed to TASTE good and that's where Michiru Sushi falls down a little bit.. Now, please understand that my three stars means that their food was really A-OK. I would eat here again. BUT.. their sushi rolls weren't very tight so they fell apart. Their sizes were all wrong for proper eating sushi. And I felt the fish was not quite as 'fresh' as it should be. Now, I realize not all sushi fish is served 'fresh' (It usually has to be frozen first to kill the buggies)... but some of the fish seemed a little 'dry' around the edges like it had been out for a while and one piece even felt a little slimy. For rolls, this might be acceptable in a cheaper place, but Michiru isn't really a cheap sushi place (it's not super expensive, but it's certainly not cheap sushi). And for sashimi, this is just shameful. Also, on the Tako (octopus) sashimi, there were seeds in the lemon slices--seriously, such a simple thing that ruined the experience of the octopus. I've been comparing most of my sushi reviews to my favorite quick sushi place, which has been Masa Sushi...and since I give them only a four star review, Michiru just doesn't quite get it as good as they do, so I have to give three stars. Also, wheelchair accessibility is tight there. The front entrance has a small seating area but if you're in a wheelchair, it's so small that the wheelchair takes up the entire area, making it impossible for anyone else to sit there or to even come in the door. Then manuevering in the restaurant is difficult especially when the restaurant is full of people. Accessibility could and probably should be a lot better and that also contributes to the lower star rating. All said and done, if you're close by and are craving a quick Japanese fusion bite or some beautiful sushi rolls, then definitely give them a try. We've eaten there twice and it was about the same both times. They have great drink specials and soups and appetizers and rolls, and there are other meal options for those who don't like the raw stuff too. There's nothing wrong with Michiru, so give them a try. I wasn't disappointed, I just didn't find anything super spectacular to rave about. read more
