I like the place. Good thing I know about computers and know where to find things in the place. but my last experience was very sad. I was waiting to pay for my items and I was the only one. With 9...literally 9 people standing around even looking at me for 10 minutes. When I asked to pay they were to involved in there conversation. It was not until a manager came around and asked how he can help me i finally got to pay. Props to the technical department and the build your own department. Either than that I strongly recommend they screen and get better staff. read more

Just got back from this store on a Thursday afternoon. I waited outside for 20-25 minutes with about 13 people ahead of me. I get it, social distancing. I get inside and get my stuff within 10 minutes. I am upset now though because they are not accepting any cash! I only came here because I don't like to use credit cards. The price was the same as Amazon and I could have easily ordered it there but I didn't want to use credit. Get to the register line and there are over 10 people on line, which is moving verrrry slowly. I see why; there are only 2 registers open and every customer takes a long time for some reason. It took me half an hour to finally pay, and I saw the line get even longer while I was waiting. CLEARLY, if they had more registers open, people wouldn't have had to wait so long, both inside AND outside the store. I could have saved an hour of waiting if only they had a couple more registers open. It had nothing to do with social distancing. For a store full of nerds, they don't think! Maybe there isn't a computer program for store management or customer satisfaction. Just order from Amazon since they won't take cash, which is probably against the law. The prices are no better here. And save yourself some valuable time. read more

This is the place to be when you don't want to wait to have real geeky computer parts shipped to your door. I do love this place, don't get me wrong, but the way stock rotates here sometimes puts me off when I actually spend the time to get out to this location. When its listed "in stock" on the website, it should be in the store no questions asked. I came to get four components that I saw were in stock on the site, I was only able to retrieve two of them and had to buy alternate parts which changed my build considerably in price and style and not to mention functionality. First of all: I am a Hardware Specialist with over 10 years of experience, and I'm used to the Micro Center in Denver. Keep in mind the sales staff gets commission. I came in for a few components for a new build $250 was my budget. Location: Inconvenient only because they don't have a location in Albany NY. They have a large parking lot. It was easy to find. It only took 3 hours to get there o.O Staff: Came in on a Saturday if that makes a difference. The guy that helped me was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and sociable. I kept bouncing ideas off of him , asking questions, and asking for opinions. He was able to keep up and offer a lot of insights and I learned a couple of things I missed during me research. It's refreshing to come across someone who knows their industry this well. Going in he knew I would be spending over 200 dollars, so maybe that is why he put up with me for as long as he did, but I couldn't be happier. Price/Selection: It's a Micro Center. Micro Center was the only reason to drive out to Long Island for me, and I'm happy to see one in Queens. It's a REAL computer store, and nothing else compares to it. They have stuff that you can't find in any other brick-and-mortar store. And you can browse - not just go up to a counter and ask if they have something in the back room. I expected to see a watered down version of the store, but I think the selection is actually better than the one in Westbury. It's bit of an odd location, off the beaten track, if you will. I thought that might be a bit of a problem for them, but the place was packed the two times I've been there so far. read more

If you need to buy a high in demand pc component that's hard to find , your better off getting it on ebay. With ebay your expecting to be price gouged. But generally you don't expect to be gouged from a seemingly reputable retailer like microcenter. Thats what happened to me when waiting on line early one Wednesday morning, I fortunately picked the right day to go because there was a truck unloading shipments of rtx cards and yes my rtx 3080 was on it. But to my disappointing surprise they were charging $1000.99 for a bottom of the mill msi gaming x trio non oc that retails for $720. On top of that they had the Gul to justify there gouging by blaming the $280 price hike on "tariffs" SMH its more like a Greedy company taking advantage of seemingly desperate consumers, the consumers that keep these brick and mortar business thriving even through these tough times for many. Let's just say wile I was impressed with the fact these microcenters are like candy land for building pc's, ill never support a business that takes advantage of there customers in such a slimey way. Finally another location in New York. It was nice having the Westbury location, but now a more convenient location for the Queens folks has opened. I was surprised to see that this store is slightly more up to date and modernized as opposed to its Westbury counterpart, which is dreary and feels like the merchandise has been sitting on the shelves for decades. Purchased a new Dell Laptop today at Micro Center. My experience from sales to check out to the knowledge bar was excellent. I highly recommend this store to all ages, Computer geeks, middle aged and older adults. I consider myself intermediate with computers. Our sales person (Kenny) was great. He was a straight shooter to the point , I told him what I wanted and he listened and recommended the best deal within my budget. The knowledge bar set me up and I was on my way. I don't normally write reviews but I am so annoyed with how their customer service is that I feel they need to re-train their people. Dropped my computer off a week ago to get fixed under warranty. I only took it here because the manufacturer said if I sent it to them it would be a week before I got the computer back and it will be quicker to bring here and get fixed. Quicker? Not even. I haven't heard back from these people since I dropped off the computer. They said they would call in 3 days; no phone call. I call them and they can't even find my computer. Clearly no one was working on it. Then they find it and say they'll call me the next day after running diagnostics. Still no phone call. I call 2 days later and they say the tech will call me when he gets in. Never called. I call back, they say the tech is out to lunch (at 7pm) right. And the person who tells me the tech is out to lunch gives me the most condescending attitude. These people have had my computer for a whole week and all they did was run a diagnostic they said takes 14 hours. If I knew how incompetent they were going to be I would have just sent it to the manufacturer to get fixed. Also, if you say you're going to call a customer back, CALL THEM. if I ran my business the way you did I'd have no clients left. Unbelievable. read more

I was shocked how great MicroCenter was. Evidently they are a chain and came to the space next to Pomonok and National Liquidators. They fixed my IMac replacing the fried hard drive and reinstalled the OS. It cost me in the end 280, but it was cheaper than a new Mac. It was fixed within hours. A lot less hassle than TekServe and no subway or parking garage. Very friendly staff. read more

A few days ago. I came here looking for a laptop charger. Which I wasn't allowed to try so I had to wait online to buy it. Just to go to their technology center to see if it fit. Which it did not. So I had to wait at customer service for 25 minutes because no one was behind the counter just to exchange it for a diffirent one, just to go back and try it again. read more

The customer service here is amazing and the employees are always willing to assist you. I always get insurances on my purchases and they come in great handy. I went there to fix my laptop keyboard.. they took 3 weeks to fix it. Technician is not professional.. He supposed replace the keyboard only.. but replaces some other thing also.. I have core i5 Toshiba laptop that I just bought around a year ago. I didn't even pull out any sticker from the laptop skin.. I didn't even pull out the Intel core i5 sticker that was attached in the skin.. when I get my laptop i noticed that there is only one sticker on the skin and it says core i3. I bring back my laptop to micro center and showed one of the customer representative my laptop.. he checked my laptop and I found that my laptop processor is core i5.. the customer representative took sometime to make up a excuse and explained me that, this how they suppose to done it because I didn't have any repair guarantee. I didn't have the repair guarantee that doesn't mean that you are going replace the skin with some other old laptop skin. I believe the technician might be replaced some inside part also.. because my Wi-Fi catching power is weak.. it wasn't like that before. Really disappointed with the service.. Spend around $300 to fix the keyboard only but end up getting a replaced by old parts laptop. I really wish I should have go to some other place to repair my laptop. read more

After reading others reviews about the sophomoric attitude of the sales people I realized I wasn't the only one to experience such poor service. They are hurled around talking instead of greeting and asking if you need help. On both occasions when I did ask for their assistance, they acted if I was interrupting their conversation (party). In addition to that, they behaved as if they don't want to help you. Why are they there?! Management really needs to address this matter or I'll take my business else where. read more

The Flushing store is well stocked and prices are reasonable for a brick and mortar store. I would say it's a step below an Apple Store, and a step up from Radio Shack and Best Buy. Sales people are mixed - some are eager to help, some try to run away and hide. Look for a young person, the older sales people seem to be lazy managers that dont really want to be there (my opinion based on multiple visits) Overall its a good place to get what you need at a reasonable price. read more

I needed a few odds and ends so stopped in today. They had everything I needed and a young man named Tyler was very helpful. The aisles are well laid out and it's easy to find whatever you need. The line for cashiers moves quickly. The prices are reasonable and the selection is very good. They probably have what you need. The worst customer service ever! I recently made a purchase and when I went to pick it up they closed the store without warning. I have sympathy that the store had to close due to the world events but no notice after sending me an email "don't forget to pick up your order" is ridiculous. Before going I asked if my order could be picked up by a family member with the exact same information except the first name. They gave me so much trouble and then finally said basically "I guess that's ok". So I asked if the purchase could be sent to another store due to the closure and they said no. I also asked if they would extend their 3 day hold period due to the closure and if the store closes again, once again no. We go to the store the next day and talk to the manager. He says we can either wait on line which is slower or do curbside pickup. I set up the curbside pickup and wait a full hour. No one ever comes outside or contacts me. We go up to the manager and he says "I never would have told you to do curbside. It is always slower. And now that you did curbside you can't even wait on this line to get in". I put in a second request for curbside and my phone number for them to call me and nothing. Still days later never contacted or said anything about it. I could never get anyone on the phone and the live chat is a joke. I told one live chat person the whole story and was instructed to file a complaint and it would be escalated. And now lo and behold you can magically ship it to another store! I said I wanted to speak to a manager first or set up a pickup time so this wouldn't happen and he assured me this would be escalated. I sent in the complaint on Tuesday and my order was from Sunday night. They cancelled my order on Wednesday and just contacted me on Friday at 9pm and asked "did anyone help you?" I said no and asked what could be done. They said "we can't ship this to you and it's out of stock." Clearly this company has more than enough money and doesn't need anymore business. I advise anybody and everyone to avoid at all costs!!!! read more

This is my second time visiting this location. The first time I went, I had a pleasant experience with Scott. He was helpful and attentive to all my needs. However, I revisited the store today to purchase some more items and was extremely disappointed with the customer service experience I received. These stores usually are be able to offer a price match to items sold on amazon. When I asked this woman (I believe her name was Chynasia) if she could price match a keyboard to the price listed on amazon, she replied in the most nastiest attitude stating I MUST purchase the items with insurance to get the price match offer. I responded by telling her that the insurance had always been an option customers rather than a requirement and last time I had gotten a price match without having to pay the insurance. She told me "Well, it's also an option for me whether I wanna offer you the price match or not" in her bitchy attitude. So I asked her to let me speak to a manager and she said "Well I am the manager!" (I don't know if she really was..) I'm really frustrated not only because I feel like she was FORCING me to have to purchase the insurance but also mainly because of her nasty attitude. My friends and I have always prefer this store for our electronic needs but after this experience I don't think we'll be visiting again. I think I'm better off going back to Best Buy. read more

Stick with B&H!!! Went to This location to get a memory card for my camera. First the selection was very limited. I decided on one card I found and it was listed at $20.99. I looked it up on the B&H site and they had it for $11.49 in store and web price. I showed the manager and he said the lowest he could go is $14.99. He said they needed to make a profit. Had the correct product for my specific need in my hand ready to purchase, but just to be extra sure, I engaged a sales associate who proceeded to talk me into swapping it out for a cheaper device. After walking thru exactly what I was trying to accomplish with my computer he insisted the cheaper device would still work, but ultimately he sold me the WRONG item. I appreciate that he was eager to save me money, but now I have to drive all the way back there and make an exchange for the right device. Thanks, ignorant sales associate! I decided to try the store out. I wanted to build my custom PC. I was surprised they have a location in queens which is minutes by car from where I live. I was skeptical at first but I went ahead and ordered my parts on Micro Center's online store. I picked my items on the store same day. A cute nerdy sales girl Khadija C help me out with my transaction. I was expecting she'd recommend some better parts or tell me if my parts are compatible, but then again, I'm probably asking too much if she's a computer geek. She just rang up my items for a quick transaction. The store is great. They even have a "build your own" corner for custom PC builders like me. Some items are decently priced as well. I used to buy all my parts from Amazon.com but since Micro Center gives me the opportunity to actually see the physical item before buying, I'll definitely buy my computer parts and/or geek gear from this store from now on. Shopping around for a TV online, google showed one price for the TV @ the Flushing Micro Center & Micro Center's site showed another. Called customer service & was told the price on google was correct, went to the store & was told google was wrong. Normally that wouldn't bother me too much, mistakes happen. However - the manager was rude & spoke down to me & my friend from the moment he walked over, he basically accused us of creating a false listing on google to cheat them out of money. According to him "anyone can cut & paste and make a fake listing on google." His attitude & tone were extremely unprofessional. I'll never shop at Micro Center again, I'd rather spend more money at a different store. read more

I will never shop here! Claim items are in stock, then try to pull a bait and switch to get you to spend more money. Once confronted they say the item in question was never in said condition or with set restrictions EVEN WITH PROOF! Had multiple experiences here. Took my laptop to be fixed, broken keyboard, they were pretty good with pricing and turn around time though ultimately it was under warranty so I sent it back to the company to be fixed for free as it was a known error. The knowledge bar staff were friendly and helpful though. Store is always clean and cool. Great selection of merchandise and friendly staff. Like a smaller version of BH Photo in the city just less of the cameras. read more

Took my MacBook in for a simple battery change. (Which they charged $162.00)Got it back with a failing hard drive. Which was suspicious to me! Anyway I decided to go back to apple and have them diagnose my MacBook. Come to find out the battery micro center installed was bad! I went back to micro center and demanded a refund. The "knowledge bar" person said they can refund me the battery fee but not the installation fee! Who pays for an installation fee for something that doesn't work????i I asked for a manager who then gave me back all of my money. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First of all the employees at the knowledge bar are snobby. I purchased a solid state drive from here about 8 months ago and paid them to install it as well. 8 months later the hard drive failed again so I took it back. They charged me $43 just to make sure it was actually failing..in my opinion that is a total rip off like it didn't take a genius to figure out that the hard drive was bad especially when I had already taken it to the apple store and the people at the genius bar took 5 mins to run a mri and find out that the hard drive was failing..micro center needed a whole day to make sure it was the hard drive and I got charged for their incompetence..then they tried to charge me to install the replacement even tho the hard drive was under a protection plan. There won't be a next time with this place. Should've never listened to the apple employee who recommended this place. read more

Today, I went to Microcenter for a replacement keyboard, a nothing purchase. The salesmen were chatting among themselves, it was slow, but when I showed my broken keyboard and asked where I could find a compatible one, I was instantly and courteously attended to. What a difference between this store and PC Richards where I literally abandoned a purchase of a costly TV because they couldn't be bothered to take one from the storeroom and walk it to the cashier so I could purchase it. That, after a customer told me what to buy. It's nice to see a store where women aren't simply ignored. I will be back for my more substantial purchases. Courtesy pays. read more
