I've been buying products from this store for a while now. I would usually give them a 3.5-4 stars but today i'm giving microcenter 5 stars. I helped my brother pick up his pc and the we decided to add sone parts to his already pre built one. MORRIS Digier, one of the knowledge advisors in the store patiently answered all out questions and helped us with the whole process. Best customer service i have ever received from this store. I unfortunately ordered a computer for my eldely mother, It was confirmed on line and the next morning I received an e pail that the computer was waiting for me to pick up, However when I went to the store no one could find the order, claiming it must have been sold, but could not be sure after 2 hours of torture in the store one on the managers offered me another computer for more money, and to add to the insult was a floor demo computer I asked them to match the original price but they declined. After an initial rough start and not being one to hold a grudge, I've returned to Microcenter a few times for a few small purchases. It seemed that with each visit, my shopping experiences have gradually improved from a customer service perspective. In an effort to not list the specifics, I shall give a top down summary. General Manager Tom Eckhart is a straight up kinda guy, appearing to be a serious guy with a very communicable persona. My problem was solved swiftly and conclusively due in large part to his ability to listen, decipher (BS from other) and decide quickly followed by a card holding flick of the wrist. As with all business cards has his contact info on it, the sincerity of the delivery spoke "let me know if you need additional help". I ordered an item online drove to Micro Center after a snowstorm to pick up my item and they did not want to release it to me. After the employee took my ID she was running around with my ID card for 15 mins and had 5 managers and employees gathered around the register to tell me they can't "scan" my ID to release the item. I showed them another form of ID and they said they couldn't take it. They asked for my other cards. I had to show them 5 other cards and an insurance card in order for them to believe it was me, despite my picture matching my ID. I even told them to cancel my online order and I'll just purchase it debit in store and they denied me. Never felt so embarrassed and profiled in my life. read more

I bought a Lenovo laptop from this store three and a half years ago. Last week suddenly 11 keys went bad and stopped working. Puzzling as I never spilled any liquid on the keyboard. I found out no distributor in the U.S. has a replacement keyboard for my model. Finally found a reputable repair shop that said the replacement for my model can only be shipped from Hong Kong and will take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. But in examining the laptop the technician said there was rust in one of the ports (which I rarely use) and a hinge on the cover was all worn out and should be replaced. I usually leave the cover open so this was puzzling. I am pissed that it was so hard to get a replacement keyboard and now I'm thinking Micro Center sold me a refurbished or returned computer. I haven't tried their repair center and I probably won't ever need one because their warranty plan beats it all. Their two year warranty plan is what makes it great. Ask them about it. Very happy with this Microcenter. Purchased a computer monitor a few weeks ago. It basically boiled down to 2 different monitors, but the Sales Rep was able to tell me the pros and cons of the monitors I was looking at. I could tell the Sales Rep knew what he was talking about, as his comments about the monitors that I was considering were consistent with the research I've done online. Anyway, a few weeks after my purchase, the monitor actually dropped in price. Although it was on sale when I purchased it, it dropped even further in price. I called MC and asked if they had a price protection policy, and they confirmed that they did. I told them the reference number of my purchase and they were able to refund me the difference over the phone. Great customer service. Will definitely return. read more

After contemplating for 2 days about whether to write this review or not, I have decided that I definitely should. This place has no integrity. After reserving my Samsung Notebook at MicroCenter in Flushing, I went to pick it up at the Internet Pickup Desk. The Customer Service Representative, C, tried to give me an open-box item and ruined my mood. After I told him no I do not want an open-boxed laptop for regular price, he still asked me one more time. He tried to convince me by telling me that the open box item must have opened accidentally during shipping. Really? After I got home when I was opening my brand new computer I saw that that the sticker that holds the box closed was not made of paper, but paper AND PLASTIC together. I could not open the box by hand, so I had to get a pair of scissors to remove the sticker. There was no way the sticker could have fallen off by itself during shipping. What the heck Micro Center??? Sorry for the bad review nice female manager who came out to thank us for shopping there. But sometimes, something has to be said. Have some integrity Micro Center. Nothing but headache and frustration. Behind pretentious facade of friendliness and low prices hides total disregard and disrespect for customer needs and satisfaction. Nearly 24 hours later I am stuck with an HP piece of overloaded piece of junk. Once you remove low grade McCaffee "security" software, the PC dies. The chat help does not know much. When I sent them a picture of a peripheral wire that I wasn't sure what to do with since there were no manuals or any printed matter to help with the installation or warnings about McCaffee threat, the response was "have no idea". Still waiting for the promised call back from the store manager (2 hours and counting). What a bummer for nearly $700 expenditure! read more

I was not happy with the customer service I received today. I felt as if I was being treated like a thief by the cashier and manager. My chip was not reading on my credit card so I decided to swipe and that became an issue. I cannot swipe cause you don't allow that even though your card readers say to swipe or insert chip. Your manager and sales person made it seam that I was some sort of theif that I was trying to rob you for a $5 item. Even though I regularly shop at your stores. If you cannot use anything other than a chipped card then have a sign stating so. Verbal directions are not policy. I've been to this Micro Center several times. While I love the fact that I can really geek out there, I find that there are better prices on used items like cables and such at the original Westbury location. I mean... $12 for a used VGA cable is absurd. This location seems to more retaily (is that even a word?) whereas the Westbury location is more of a geeks warehouse for all things computer. It's somewhat the opposite feel of the Westbury location because where the Westbury location puts the geeky stuff on display as the main focus and puts the big box type of items like TV's and laptops in the back, this location seems to focus more on the average consumer, making the nerd-herd have to wander the poorly lit aisles at the back of the store. That's just my take on it of course. I still wander in from time to time, but I find the Westbury location is more for me. read more

I would only shop here. Not repair things here. Brought my macbook in for repair, paid the fee for diagnostics. Was told the next day that it was opened and tested my motherboard and found it to be burnt out and offered to fix it for $750. I took it to another place where it was found to be in working order. Upon closer inspection the laptop had a 3M skin cover that covered all the screws. They lied about them claiming to have opened my laptop and testing the hardware. never. again. read more

Prices are really competitive, found a Dell laptop today for like 200 dollars cheaper than it was selling at Best Buy. Also the employees here are really friendly and helpful! Micro Center is a local legend among electronics/gaming geeks, just down the road from Queens College. THE spot for great deals on laptops, memory upgrades, monitors, headphones, gaming gear, PC components, phone cases, open box items. It's hard for me to believe that MC is a super regional chain, with stores in several states. When you get weary of Best Buy limitations, you are ready for Micro Center. It's got that " treasure hunt" shopping experience, with thousands of SKU's. MC has a bit of that "Crazy Eddie/Wiz" vibe going, where they keep certain inventory in cages or behind locked glass. Burly security guard and maze-like store exit design to deter "smash and grab" mobs. Fine with me. An old-skool feel with eclectic cashiers and CRM loyalty prizes when you get their mailers. A nice sized parking lot, so you can browse without meter anxiety. The reps are on commission and generally are mellow...they give you stickers with their number on it to paste on what they recommend during a shift to take to the cashiers. It's kind of pitiful, but play along; they don't push, and they know their sheesus. Bonus: Lots of esoteric phone cases...I found a SPECK for my NOKIA 900 on clearance. read more

I wish that the people in charged of the line where people go to pay would have more common sense. Twice I have had an issue with the way they make decisions. I'm a person with chronic illness that has issues making a line and waiting. The first problem I encountered was due to the person in charge of the long that couldn't accommodate me to get to cashier without making the long line that was there. Although, I had explained to the person my illness and that it was a hardship to stand waiting so long. The second problem was today 9/1/18. I went straight to the customer service to return an item. No one is there to attend the counter. A few minutes later a worker directed by, again the person in charge of the line (supervisor?) comes in and asked me to move to the side because she was instructed to service another person that was in the regular line. This doesn't make sense. First of all, she sees me waiting to be attended. Secondly, someone should be attending the customer service line. So, I had to move to the side until she was done. I spoke to the person that was in charge of the line and she argued with me that the cashier was instructed to attend the other person and that the cashier did not see me. So, I am invisible. They need to make sense of what they are doing and making the right decisions. Common sense! read more

I really can't understand how anyone could give this store anything less than 5 stars, really. It's a geeks paradise. Name any other big box store that comes close the the PC, electronics, or mobile inventory than Micro Center? It has the lowest prices on CPUs even against online competitors such as Tiger Direct, Newegg, and Amazon. It's the only brick and motor store where you can actually find water cooling components, led lighting, PC fans, heatsinks, PC cases, and a multitude of accessories: SSD, HDDs, CD/BluRay drives, Gaming mice, keyboards, mats, memory, motherboards, GPUs, etc, etc, etc. Don't even mention Best Buy - Pure crap selection. And not only that the clerk's helpfulness and knowledge blows any other big box store away. The only way you would find better is if your town happens to have a nich PC shop, but even then you wouldn't find the inventory comparable to Micro Center. They have DRONES for Christ's sake, all sorts of DYI electronics: heat guns, soldering irons, shrink wrap, resistors, etc etc, and even freaking rockets. I can't leave this store without spending money. There is always something useful that catches your eye. And all of this is not to mention their promotional give-a-ways: free Flash drives, microSD, and SD cards up to 32GB. I love this store, and am always bummed when I don't see a lot of people in it. Their return policy is excellent, and is the next best thing to shopping online. If you're a PC geek you get it because the only other way to get some of the items in this store is simply to shop online. It is what Radio Shack use to be in the 80s, and then some. read more

I'm happy a Micro Center in Flushing opened up! It's only a few minutes away from Queens College. Before this location opened, if I wanted to go to Micro Center, I would have to go all the way to Westbury. Not anymore! Compared to the Westbury location, the Flushing location is much better. First thing I noticed was the help desk. This is quite nice for those who aren't very computer literate. This location has more registers and is much bigger! I went here to claim my coupon to get a tablet for only $20. If you are wondering what manufacturer made it, it's Azpen. I also claimed my other coupon for a free SD card. A friend asked me to help her purchase a computer. I told her to meet me at Microcenter. She arrived a couple minutes before our agreed upon meeting time. The individual showing my friend around the store tried to sell my friend some computers and software that she clearly did not require. I understand the clerks are there to make sales but I don't like people being taken advantage of. As soon as I opened my mouth, I conveyed over to the clerk through lingo that I have somewhat of an understanding of computers and he became a little more honest. Other than that the clerk was easy to deal with and cordial. There was a fair amount of selection in regards to the computers that they offer. The establishment was clean as a computer store should be. Ample free parking. I am told that Microcenter can have competitive pricing. When I finish doing my research and helping my friend, I plan to go back to this review and let you all know about their pricing. ------------------------------------------------- Coming back to this review. It would seem that in comparason to other establishments like this, Micro Center does maintain somewhat competitive pricing. My 5 yr. old iMac "crashed"- took it to this Apple Authorized Micro Center (145-Queens Retail Store) for repair on 3/6/18. For the Serial # on the work order, they wrote my cell #. For "Problem Description" they noted "Physical damage/missing screws/Missing components?" none of which was true. Their diagnosis - after the diagnostics (for which I paid $43) - data would be impossible to retrieve. Their repair solution - stripping Hard Drive (the computer) clean and restore it to factory settings. No 'Operating system restore' without stripping or erasure was attempted. No data migration with thunderbolt cables was attempted. I declined their repair & and since I had nothing much to gain from the 5 yr. old computer, I bought a new iMac from them. When I showed the old unit to Apple Store they advised me of the 2 options not previously tried. At home, my Mac OS restore without erasure worked & all my data was saved. So I don't know whether their technician was so amateurish or whether they were steering me away from my old computer, citing its phony "physical damage..." description and inaccurate diagnosis of "unfeasible" to retrieve its data, thereby making it easier for me to decide to buy a new computer from them. I felt rooked and would have lost all my data from the old computer had I gone for their 'repair'. _ read more

Hands down the best electronic store I have stepped foot into. Everything is clearly labeled throughout the well lit, well stocked store, and the friendly staff will help you if need be. The prices are reasonable or lower than expected. They guarantee you'll be able to pick-up an item in store 18 mins if you ordered online, and check out was a speedy process. During check out, they ask for your email and home address which may be a turn off for some, but do it. I eventually received a $40 off any $60 item offer in the mail and picked up a latest PS4 game for $20. Will definitely return. read more

Back in December I received a ad in the mail from Micro Center. It featured a voucher for a free choice of 32gb SD card, USB, or a micro SD card. You get to choose 3, you can mix and match or get 3 of the same. It sounded too good to be true, there had to be some type of catch. It ad also came with two referral cards. Your referrals, they can receive 1 of the choosing. I strolled into Micro Center, checked out the store first. It's a really nice and big store. Everything is neatly organized and there's always a staff member around to assist you unlike Best Buy! After browsing through the store, I didn't find anything I really needed so I asked a sales guy where I can redeem my SD cards. You simply head over to the registers, make sure you fill out the voucher with your info, and just like that, they hand you whatever choice you want with no catch. I took 3 32gb SD cards for free and walked out of the door. I was amazed! My friend whom also came with me, picked up an SD card for himself as well. For referrals, they receive 16gb. Still not bad! I've heard about some great deals from Micro Center through my friend who goes to their store in Brooklyn. Now that they've opened up in Queens, I'll be sure to check back for tech stuff I would need in the near future. I took an extensive look at their camera section and was disappointed. Not much of a variety, lack of new releases and lens options. I know it's not a pro camera store, however it would be nice to see some newer camera models. read more

Bought a refurbished laptop it came with a broken touch screen. So it took me awhile but I was able to disable touch part of the laptop and continue using it like a normal laptop. Then I dropped it 3 weeks later after I bought it. So since the screen replacement was so much they said I can get a gift card for the amount I paid for the unit said Johnathan the manager at the time. I was like is there any models similar to what I have I asked. He said he doesn't know too much about computer spec's and to talk to the sales people okay. So now i'm talking to the sales people and I say this laptop is good and maybe handle VR applications. Johnathan was like no it's spec's can't handle VR. I looked at him like look who just because the computer expert out of no where. So fine I could find a computer with the same specs and price so I decided to send it out for repairs. WRONG WRONG WRONG you see even though I deny the gift card they was trying to give me for the price of the unit they wanted to ask me a second time. Delaying my repair for the unit. The other managers couldn't help me in the matter even showed me on there fine print that they have complete control over your protection and can choose for you even though you might not want a gift card. They still allowed me to fix my computer even just smile and laugh at the part where now it taking another 5 business days to fix my laptop just because you wanted another sale. I didn't get a chance to walk around the store because I headed straight to the cashier for the free SD card by taking in a referral post card--- no purchase necessary. I also came back another day to get the tablet for $22, again with the mailing post card. What a steal!
