Located inside a home kitchen in Watts you will find the best Palestinian food in Los Angeles. We have been here three times now and every time we start eating our food we immediately laugh and say to each other "this is so good." This last time in, we ordered the Rice bowl with falafel, the pita wrap with halal chicken, Zataar fries, mint lemonade and the karak chai. I don't know how to explain the taste of everything other than to say think of anything that you have tasted that was similar and just multiply that by 10 as far as freshness, flavor pop, texture, and cooking execution. The falafel was crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside, not oily and not dry. The sauces were all so very well balanced. The Zataar on the fries was so fragrant, salty and flavorful and the fries were fresh out of the fryer, warm and crispy. The halal chicken had this smokey almost birria flavor. Very earthy and natural. Like nothing I have ever tasted. The drinks and dessert are all amazing. My mint lemonade had fresh mint and hint of floral orange blossom. So refreshing. The karak chai had cardamom, saffron, ginger and cloves. It was like going on a flavor rollercoaster in a good way. The husband and wife team could not be nicer to you. All smiles all the time. They came out multiple times to check on us and talk to us. We definitely felt welcomed like family. Such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Life changing is all I have to say about this meal. Went to the Eid feast where Chef Summer collabed with Chef Heidi and prepared the most amazing Palestinian and Sudanese feast. Let me tell it to you this way: I abhor feta cheese; I've never had lamb that I liked that wasn't gamey; and I loathe mint in my food. And the dishes with those ingredients were some of my FAVORITES. There is so much love that goes into these meals and they are so well balanced and so flavorful. And do not even get me started on the homemade pita bread - life changing. Just tried Mid East Eats a few blocks from my place in Watts and this spot was amazing. Everything tasted super fresh and full of flavor. My girlfriend got the loaded fries with chicken shawarma, hummus, feta, and all the toppings, and I got the burrito with chicken shawarma. Both were so good that we kept picking at each other's food. Everything tasted fresh and made with love. The mint lemonades were really good too, light and refreshing. Definitely planning to come back and try more from the menu. Wow!). The maqlubeh was by far one of the best meals I've had the last 4 years of my life. The almonds and pine nuts on top of the maqlubeh was DIVINE (shout out to Andy for the sweet reminder). Sumer and Andrews falafel is so-so good! If you are looking for middle eastern food do not skip checking them out. I met Sumer at a catering event she was doing and she told me about another event she was hosting herself. It was a falafel cooking class. After trying her food and getting such a great vibe from her I was adamant about making it to her event and I am so so happy I did. It was quite far from me but it was sooooooo worth it. They do pop ups in various locations which is really great to know and I plan on keeping a look out to catch her at one. Her cooking class was a great success and I met a bunch of fans who love their food and follow her. I hope she decides to hold another one in the future.
