I brought in my Tesla after receiving a $6,000 estimate from Tesla for the same repair. Tim took the time to walk me through everything, explain what was actually needed, and Midas quoted $2,100 -- less than half the price -- for the exact same work. They were incredibly knowledgeable about Teslas, honest, and transparent throughout the process. There was no upselling, no pressure -- just straightforward, expert advice and excellent service. The work was done quickly and the car drives perfectly. It's rare to find a shop that combines technical expertise, integrity, and great customer service, especially when it comes to EVs. Rude and unprofessional manager. This idiot, buffoon of a manager told someone over the phone that he/she had emotional problems. I did not know that a mechanic needed a PHD in psychology (can he even spell that?) Overstated needed repairs. I would not take my car back there. Most of the recommended repairs are not needed. Took a car in this morning for an oil change. Was told the price would be $69.95. I asked why so high. The answer I got is that they only Castrol motor oil. I asked about options. Was told there are none. I said that's the last time I'll be using you for an oil change. That is double what I paid last year. There is no possible excuse for a doubling of price. Castrol is not gold. Came home and got a coupon off my computer for $20 off. They better honor that. What they don't do is quote a price on their web site. They used to. So, it's $20 off what? Went in for an oil change and now my check engine light has mysteriously on ever since. When I immediately returned my car there were very evasive and did not help rectify. Definitely choosing a more trustworthy establishment moving forward. read more

We have been using the services of Midas in Bloomfield on and off for our two Toyota RAV4s over the last 12 years with no issues what-so-ever. Now, since both cars are no longer on warranty, I have been more likely to visit Midas within a mile of our home, rather than making the long trip to the dealer. That is a plus, considering the price of fuel. Thanks to Midas for sending me a card for a free oil change, which I used it on my last visit, another plus! The people I dealt with at Midas were out-standing. If I drop off a car for service, I can walk a mile from there and back from home, and I really need that too! read more

John is a very knowledgeable technician and manager. The staff he has in place is also quite knowledgeable. It is tough to find a great mechanic and when you do you follow where they go. John was previously at a location closer to me but it is worth the drive from Enfield to get treated right! Stopped into Midas Bloomfield midday today- with no appointment & a muffler which had literally been dragging on the road... I had the paperwork which showed a Midas shop in Vermont installed it 4 years ago... so today, the squeezed me in & replaced the muffler/exhaust part free of charge. All I had to cover was $97 for labor...they also did my DMV-Mandated emissions test too- I passed! Thanks, guys! read more

Well I was mistaken with the first review. The past few times I've been here for an oil change it has taken 1.5-2 hours. The last time I went it took a little over 2 hours!! I scheduled an appointment for this oil change, they didn't have the correct filter in stock and instead of rescheduling they said no problem we will go get one it wont take long. They also replaced my windshield wipers and left the cardboard piece on (this part wasn't a big deal I took it off myself). The next day while using them the driver side wiper fell off, I put it back on but the wiper was clearly broken because it fell off every time I tried to use it. I brought it back to be replaced, and the guy replaced it with cheaper ones that what I had paid for originally, which took 20 minutes. So I had to come back a 3rd time. They also told me I needed my struts replaced. I didn't trust them after all of this. I brought it to a more reliable and trusted mechanic and they said my struts were fine and did not need to be replaced (which would have costed an estimate of $700). Thanks, but no thanks I will not be returning. read more

Booked an appointment online and never received a call from a Midas rep to confirm. The website indicates clearly that someone from Midas will call within 30 minutes after booking the spot menu online to confirm. I called to inquire and was told that the appointment that I was ABLE to book online is too late in the day. Suggestion: call when you're supposed to and relay that information or even better don't allow customers to book appointments at times that are not available. read more

Found out today that oil changes normally take one hour or more at Midas. Employees didn't seem to be in much of a rush to get work done. Employee behind the counter extremely slow. My fault for taking car there and waiting 2.5 hours to get an oil change. Convenient location but poorly managed. read more

My car battery died due to extreme weather. I called up Midas in Bloomfield because I live only a few blocks away and thought it would be a quick and easy task. They informed me that they can indeed replace my battery for me. My appt was at 11am. My kids and I got there at 10:50. They took my car in at 11 as promised. But it sat in their garage for 40 mins before I finally asked what was taking so long. They said that the mechanic had to stop and take another car into emissions. Wtf! Another 10 mins later, the gm walks out and tells me that I need $400 worth of services done and that they didn't have the battery- that they just had to order it. It took them 50 minutes to tell me that they didn't have my battery in stock?!?!?!?!?!? And this after them telling me on the phone that they did have one in stock. They then pushed on and tried to convince me that I needed the extra services done. I told them no and to just get the battery done, that my personal mechanic would have informed me about the need for extra services. The gm proceeded to lecture me on how my mechanic was bad and how much better they are and also expressed deep concern about the safety of my car. Then he went back and told his mechanics about only needing the battery. He came out another 10 mins later informing me that they need to order the battery. UMMMMM!!!!! Didn't they just tell me that they had ordered it and that it was on it's way?!?!?!?? At this point I was extremely angry. I had already called my personal mechanic and told them the situation. I felt like Midas was trying to take advantage of me and thought I would fall for their crap. I ended up taking my car and left without the battery. But of course it took another 20 mins to get my car back. I brought it to my mechanic Sher's Auto in Hartford. I should have done there in the first place. They took me in right away, replaced the battery, checked my fluids, checked all the supposed bad parts Midas told me about and had me on my way in less than 20 mins. Oh, and they confirmed my suspicion that Midas was trying to cheat me out of money and Sher's even waived the labor because of the annoying almost 2 hours I've had with my car. What a waste of my time!! Never ever again! If you're in the area- I'd say make the extra 20 min drive to Sher's auto in Hartford. I should have never cheated on them and should have called them right away. I've learned my lesson. read more

Completely misadvertise the price for a basic oil change. Basic oil change is advertised at 20.99, and this sign is literally on the counter-exactly where your hand would rest as you pay the merchant! and I was charged 25.99 because they claimed my car couldn't get a basic oil change ( which is untrue by the way... I've gotten many oil changes at the basic price at places like jiffy lube.) their claim was that my car was a 520w, and as a result, couldn't get a basic oil change because the basic oil change needs to be a 510 w. So, looking at the sign, I pointed out that no where did it say that I need to have a 510w to get the basic oil change. And on top of that, they were charging me a bogus price according to the sign because the next higher grades of oil changes were priced higher than 25.99. Anyhow, after arguing with the guy, he agreed to give me a $5 "discount". Which was fine, but absurd that he called it a discount since that's the price I should've been charged to begin with! Note to Bloomfield residents, don't go there for an oil change!!! read more

They lost my tire lock! This is after having a 15 minute conversation with the manager about how I did not give the mechanic permission to go into my glove compartment and take it, told him I did not want any work done on my tires that day just a simple oil change and specifically discussed how important it was to make sure they put my tire lock back because I had just learned that they are specific to your tire and are expensive to replace. I found that the lock was missing the next day when I drove far out of the way to get my tire replaced at the place I had originally bought them. They couldn't replace the tire. I called Midas and they said they would replace the tire lock but at such an inconvenience. I made an appointment but it didn't matter. They said I was not even in the computer system when I made the appointment although this was my third (and last) time here. It didn't matter because when I got there the manager said he had forgot I had made an appointment and sent the mechanic to lunch. I waited 40 minutes before my car even went into the garage! They do not have their priorities straight. They are all over the place. Losing my tire lock and information. I'm glad I only went in for an oil change and will never go back after this horrendous experience. read more
