Price was reasonable. I requested a tire change and got that, but when I went in my TPMS was working fine and now it is not working at all. Have driven a bit since I got the car back with the new tires and it says the air pressure in 1 of my new tires is 1. After completing work they should have teated everything and addressed the TPMS alert, but it was 4 pm on a Saturday after I had been there since 12:45 pm. I also got an oil change which I was quoted $69.99 and was charged $78.98. They never put an oil change sticker on as I have the sticker from my last oil change done elsewhere nor did they reset the dashboard message, which makes me believe they didn't complete the oil change. Front desk was friendly although I waited 13 minutes before anyone showed up to the front desk. Now I need to go back and find out why my TPMS light won't go out and all 4 tires have different air pressure. Also need to find out why I never got any proof of my oil change in the form of a reminder and car notification reset. I have do to this on a work day, the exact thing I was trying to avoid for a problem that shouldn't exist. Jury is out on if I will rerate this or recommend it as I am feeling uneasy about the attention to detail. read more

They lied about my car's status for 6 days to charge max service hours, billed me over $1,300 without fixing my car, and their negligence directly put my family in danger. I brought my car in on a Wednesday for an engine issue. They told me they needed to order a part and it would be ready on Friday. I explained that my fiancée is 39 weeks pregnant and this is our only reliable way to get to the hospital, but I was told it shouldn't be a problem. On Friday, they said the part had arrived but the job was more complex and would be done Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon came (with no call) so we reached out, and were told it should be finished by the end of the day, or first thing Monday morning at worst. Monday came and went with no proactive communication. My fiancée called at 1 PM and was told someone was working on it "right now" and they were aiming for the end of the day. I called again later for an update, and they simply stopped answering the phone for the rest of the day. By Tuesday, after a week of shifting timelines, zero updates, and constant excuses, I went there in person with my work laptop and waited in the lobby. I sat there for seven hours while being repeatedly told that they were just wrapping up by the guy at the desk, Alex. He would tell me "about another hour" or "just 30 more minutes" from about 11 AM to the end of the day. At one point he specifically told me that they were just wrapping up and the job was complete. Finally, at 4:30 PM, the technician came out to say that they actually couldn't fix it, needed another part, and it would take an additional 2-3 days just to have it delivered. After all of that, we had the car sent to the dealership, where they offered to finish the job. If Midas was honest and respectful to us, we would't have had to wait 6 days of being strung along to do this. The bill Midas gave me was over $1,300 for a week of stress, false timelines, and ultimately no repair.. my car left in the exact same condition it came in, if not worse. If you are looking for a trustworthy or reliable place to bring your car, this is not it. SCAMMERS. I am new to having my car in Boston, and needed my oil changed and another problem I was having to be looked at. I was worried about going to a new mechanic and being taken advantage of because I'm a young woman with limited knowledge about cars. I thought I could at least go there to get an estimate and new oil, considering that it's a corporate chain and prices are more standardized. Turns out, I was right to be worried. They looked at my car, found several of things wrong, and anticipated repairs adding up to about $4500. I wanted to have my hometown mechanic look at it if that was the case because my family has been going to him for years, and I know that I can trust his work. So I brought my car there, revealing that the entire Midas report I was given was a load of crap. My total ended up being only a couple hundred dollars rather than 4500. I went to Midas Brookline and had Technician/Mechanic, Mr. Scott Boulay run a diagnostic engine scan on my 2014 Toyota Rav 4 XLE. He was able to target the problem. He also made suggested recommendations which my vehicle would need sooner than later, based on the longevity and wear and tear of my car. Overall, Mr. Scott Boulay was professional and pleasant to speak to and he was very courteous as he took the time to show me my undercarriage and fully explain to me in detail, what was going on with my car. Very kind, thoughtful, and quick service. A bulb went off in a headlight of my Toyota Corolla, and I was in a rush to replace it before dark. Midas Brookline accomodated me right before their closing time on Saturday, carefully checked for possible problems, and quickly replaced the bulb with a matching type. I got rear brake pads my car is making a high pitched sound while I'm driving brought my car back there to resolve the issue they tried to fix one side but now the other side is making the noise and the customer service at the Front Desk wants me to leave the car and not sit in the waiting area to wait for it the front desk man is very rude and wants me to come every day until they can hear the noise at this point I want my money back because they don't seem to know what they're doing at this location and then they try to scam me to tell me that I need rotors I got my rotors done the month prior. Hello Scott, After receiving horrible service at Herb Chambers in Braintree a couple of months ago. I received your apology. I decided to give the location another chance to redeem themselves. However, the service once again failed to deliver quality service. Paul from the Service Department quoted me one outrageous high price. Then, proeeded to charge me another equally ridiculous amount after I presented the service department with a coupon. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes upon arrival. For the staff to print out my paperwork. That they informed me was ready when I arrived. The staff recalculated everything, came back, and charged me an additional $100 dollars. From the original bill that was presented to me when I first arrived to pick up my vehicle. Once I noticed the change in the price, I informed the staff this wasn't the correct price that Paul quoted me and wanted to speak to Paul. Which, he conveniently left for the day. This location attempted to take advantage of and scam me as a young woman dealing with her car. They told me I needed an entirely new muffler and quoted me 1,200 for it. After taking it to my home garage, they informed me that the muffler was completely fine and only needed a pipe replaced for 300 dollars. Harry and his crew have the best customer service I've ever witnessed. I've been with Harry since he started at this Midas location, and he definitely looks out for his customers. I remember the first time Harry and his crew worked on my car. My brakes were down to the wire, so I took it in and got them replaced. When I went to pick up my car, Harry took me to the garage and showed me what my brakes looked like. I was just surprised he was so transparent on what was worked on. It's a small Midas located in Brookline. It looks shady from the outside but the people who work here are very polite and attentive to your needs. Just like any other car mechanic places, they will try to tell you that you need to fix a lot of things BUT they won't try to manipulate or lie to you in order to get you to do that. They will give you a quote and give you some time to think about it so that you can just come back whenever you make up your mind. Last time I went, they gave me a whole list of things that I need to fix and at first I thought they were trying to trick me into fixing unnecessary things...so I went for a second opinion from a different place and I realized they were giving me an accurate diagnosis of my car. If you are looking to do a simple oil change, this will be a great place to visit. They usually have oil change & tire rotation deal for $19.99 (conventional oil of 3000 miles). You can upgrade to a synthetic blend and it will cost you around $50 but it will last double the mileage of around 6000 miles. read more

Avoid this place! This location charged me $300+ 12 months ago to change my 2 rear tires and I brought it to a new mechanic yesterday who told me my left tire was completely bare on one side and had to be changed again. It turns out the type of tire they put was an old model that isn't produced anymore (in and of itself an issue) and so I now have to change both tires again, costing me another $400. I have driven less than 3K miles since then so the tires they put in were either defective or they did not properly aligned them. I called them and they did not stand behind their parts or their work, basically telling me it was my fault because I declined to pay extra to have my tires aligned. My car got towed (wrongfully) at my job by Brighton Towing - who bent and dislocated my exhaust system, it was literrally dragging in the ground by the time I drove home. Of course, Brighton Towing denied any wrongdoing I was referred to Midas by a shop I had previously gotten body work done at. Everyone at this Midas location was extremely efficient and mannerly, a couple different guys took a look at my car, even showed me exactly what damage had been done, and quickly repaired everything at no charge! The guy working the front desk offered advice and calmed me down about the whole situation. I will definitely be returning for oil changes and maintenance. 5 stars! read more

You happen to drive by Midas in Brookline and ask if they might be able to have a look. They go above and beyond and David, new to their business, processes us and does it with a smile. They charge a batter replacement for $400!!! This include a $250 battery price, $85 labor, and shop fee, what the fxxxk all this fees for when you Pepboy, Townfair and lots other shops free of charge for Batter Installation when you buy from them. Ehhh. I called because I ran over a nail and was able to get my tire patched elsewhere in the past and was encouraged to stop by by the young lady who answered the phone. It was later in the day on the weekend, so the tire place I've patronized previously was closed for the day. When I arrived one of the employees inspected the tires on my car and explained that the tire was not able to be fixed due to its low tread. Apparently the tire patch won't adhere properly when the tread is too low. Ok, no problem, that is not what I was expecting to hear but completely understandable; I will admit that after looking at the two front tires they definitely should be replaced in the near future. But then they tried to sell me four brand new tires even though the back still have a few months of life left. Not to mention the quote was outrageous, around $800 for four tires out the door. I don't drive a sports car with low profile tires either. I then went elsewhere after some more googling and was lucky enough to find a place that was able to install two lightly used tires with plenty of tread left for less than $150 out the door. And they did it while I waited, in about 30 minutes. I think Midas must be one of those places where they can't really work with the customer to negotiate, they are bound by corporate policy, charge MSRP (or close to it) and don't have as many options for their customers as the "guy down the street." Would give zero stars if I could. My husband took the car in yesterday for an oil change and they offered a tire rotation at the same time. Later that evening, driving along with my TWO kids in the car, a man stopped us at the traffic lights and told me to pull over as the back wheel was shaking side to side. Pulled in - the lugnuts on the rear driver tire were NOT secure and the wheel close to coming off. What kind of company doesn't secure the tire back on after taking it off?? After calling roadside assistance to tighten it so it was drivable, he actually found the passenger rear wheel to be loose also. All I can say is I thank the man who stopped me and I'm grateful this didn't end in a fatal accident. Will never go to this place again and if they pay that little attention to the work they do, I would suggest you look elsewhere also. My car wouldn't start. Brookline Midas replaced the alternator. When I picked up the car, it still wouldn't start, same symptoms. The alternator was not the problem. They then replaced the starter, and the car was fine, clearly the starter was the problem, not the alternator. I asked them to put the old alternator back in and reverse the charges, and they refused. I asked them to return the old alternator so I could have it independently tested and they refused, contrary to Massachusetts consumer law which states that repair shops must return parts to the customer: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/massachusetts-consumer-guide-mechanics-of-auto-repair They replaced an alternator in error and would not rectify the situation when confronted. read more

I am amazed that these guys even have anything above a 1-start review. Back in 2017, I took my 2012 Subaru in for a routine oil change, they up-sold me on replacing brake pads and pre-summer maintenance. After four back and forth visits, they completely destroyed my car. Bent the rotors, shoddy brake pads, broke the A/C, bent the struts, and left lug-nuts loose. Long story short, I had sell my car and lease a new one. The manger was nice, but kept coming up excuse after excuse. I ended up filing a chargeback with my credit card company for almost 1K in repairs. Midas fought the charge but after several months, my credit card company finally ate the cost. read more

Brought my car here for leaking power steering fluid and check engine light. Was told that three parts were leaking and it would cost around $1800 to replace the parts. For the check engine light I was told it would be a problem with the transmission and it would cost $110 to diagnose the problem as they would have to do a detailed inspection to identify where the problem was. MIDAS did not charge for this inspection. For a second opinion I took the car to another garage who connected a computer to see what was causing the check engine light. It was the fuel cap not put on correctly causing the light. Was corrected in seconds. As for the power steering fluid it was a loose hose which was tightened. It has now been several weeks and no power steering fluid loss and no check engine light. The other garage did not charge for what took less than 5 minutes overall. The other garage now has a loyal customer; as for this MIDAS garage, I will not be returning. read more

So I was told the brake pads I bought should last a bare minimum of 25,000 miles (even though it should be more than 30) before needing a change during my entire day ordeal at this shop. I have now driven about 8,000 miles and the brake pads are completely gone and have destroyed the rotors too. Now I have to go get ANOTHER brake pad and rotor change because of this awful business. It appears that they only replaced the rotors and kept my worn down pads, because they kept ordering the wrong item from Autozone! I swear if I ever see that idiot who kept trying to smooth talk me and his "suped up" impala we will have some words. PS: Hey Midas i never responded because fool me once shame on you... The staff at this location was very nice and friendly, but their service and pricing was very disappointing. I came in to have an oil change and a headlight replaced, and I sat there for 2.5 hours in the middle of a weekday - there were no other people waiting, so it was baffling what would take so long. In their defense, the headlight is slightly difficult to replace, but it still took far too long, and cost too much. I recommend going to any number of Jiffy Lube locations around here, I have had overwhelmingly positive experiences there. ****UPDATE**** Just discovered last night that the headlight they replaced was either installed incorrectly, or it's the wrong headlight, as it is much dimmer than the original headlight and does not point the correct direction.
