This was a quick stop in for a tire replacement. I did a walk-in because I didn't have an appointment. I was seen promptly. And they gave me an estimate about an hour and a half. I did end up waiting about two hours. There's no Wi-Fi here, so I was just on my phone while waiting. Overall experience was as expected. Compare price because I personally don't really know the different prices of tires, but I always get my tires at Goodyear and they did not try to upsell me on other things. read more

I called Goodyear to see if they had a specific Goodyear tire in stock. The tech physically inspected their inventory to be sure it matched what was online and confirmed. I was quoted a price cheaper than their local competitors but unfortunately their schedule was too busy for them to install based on my needs. I bought the tire from Goodyear at a good price and had it installed elsewhere for a good price. It was an easy transaction and I'm happy with the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tire I purchased. read more

This is not a place to bring your car for service. I would be even hesitant to buy tires from them as they are not easy to deal with if there is any issue with the tire you just bought. I used to live very close to this place which is the reason why I brought my car in the first place 20 years ago. After 2 interactions, I decided to never go there. Guess what, I had to visit this location again after 20 years and was hoping some improvement. Nope. Same old. Very unprofessional attitude, and rude service. Went for an oil change today. They left grease marks on the interior and exterior and pen marks on my car seat. They did the oil change and filled the tires with air which I appreciate but you shouldn't leave someone's car dirtier than they handed it to you. read more

Be warned, tires on EVs and hybrids do NOT last half as long! Had to do a tread wear warranty on otherwise excellent tires. Two other non-elec cars I have with the same tires are wearing fine! Don't blame the local tire store, it's the company execs that should have seen this coming. Now, Goodyear has special EV/Hybrid tires! Get them! The Somerville store evaluated my claim for a treadwear discount on new tires, set an appointment and efficiently installed the new tires. If possible, take advantage of buying all four tires at once as they have good sales and/or promos for that. read more

Very disappointing experience. Booked an appointment a week out, received multiple reminders, even showed up early day-of. Spoke with the store manager, Mike, when I arrived. He stated the system showed no appointment for my name, even when the appointment number and email confirmation was provided. Was told they were unable to fit me in today and to call back for another appointment. Won't be returning. Thank you, Goodyear. As a Harvard Business Publishing client, I knew this company was committed to talent development at the corporate level, but all indications from their retail operations (at least at this location) support that their ethic for service and quality of work also cascades down to the front lines. Okay, enough corporate jargon. I basically just mean this location is really great. I live about a quarter mile from there, so when I have a crisis (read: my car gets a flat and I'm trapped in the middle of Calvin Street holding up traffic, or my battery dies twice and my insurance co has to jumpstart me), they are my go-to shop. Being open on weekends for oil changes as well as services (i.e. the recent battery I had replaced when I brought my car to them on a Sunday at 2:45 pm, 75 minutes before they closed) makes them lifesavers. There have been mildly irritating times when I've gotten a time estimate on a repair or made and appointment and then been told at drop off it would be 2 hours until my car was ready, but I can usually use reason to talk them into committing to something more reasonable. Also, their marketing folks monitor their twitter feed and always follow up on my experience after I push an online check in. Also, they are across the street from Union Square Donuts. I have used Goodyear for all my serious repairs for many years. In fact, I followed the shop manager from Dedham to Cambridge to Union Square because his skill and honesty impressed me. In 25 years, he has never missed a problem nor have I had to bring my vehicle back after a repair. He discovered that my Tacoma cab supports were rusted out when the scandal about inferior steel used in Tacomas came to light. Their prices are always considerably lower than the estimates I get at my local dealer. Also the dealer has often listed repairs that were unnecessary. read more

I just took my '06 Corolla here and they did a fantastic job! First, it was a clean, professional operation with prompt service and communication. My car was older and had various existing issues which other mechanics have been excited to point out. The team at Goodyear was able to sort what was necessary from what they could do. My car rolled in with squeaky breaks and a check engine light. They determined that nothing was necessary and charged me $0. That level of honesty is extraordinary in a mechanic! I would recommend them to anyone based on that. I will certainly be back. I had them perform an oil change a few miles early so they would make some money off me. read more

Absolute worst service I've seen at one of these locations. My brother went in to change a co formed insured tire ($20) but then call him later on and try to charge over $600 , tacking on an unrequested front end alignment and demanding he had to buy 2 tires because they won't just replace one. This is all a lie, I've literally dropped my tire off and picked it up later at other locations. The person I think was new but when I take him back to get the key her supervisor, clearly angry raises his voice at us for requesting the key. I will never go to that location again. read more

Recently moved to Boston and was weary of having service done on my car since I've always gone to the same place in RI. Dropped my car off for an oil change and brake replacement. The gentleman at the desk, Ty, was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. I asked if they would call with an estimate prior to completion. He told me that they would not do anything without my approval. After a half hour Ty called to let me know that the oil change was complete, and my car did not need the brakes replaced at this time. The rotors were rusty which is what caused the noise I was hearing. They could have changed the brakes and taken my money, but did not. That shows honesty. They also cleaned my routers and did not charge me for the cleaning! I will be back for all of my service needs in the future. They are very trustworthy, and do a great job! read more

What a great find, So happy to have a local place for my car care. I really did not know that Goodyear did more than just tires but they do. The staff are friendly and informative they gave me great help not only with the tire repair that I needed but they called to let me know about some regular maintenance that was needed and gave me a great price for the whole thing. Do not go here! I brought my car in for a routine oil change, and half a day later they racked up $700 worth of work that "had to be done". Two weeks later I was in again with related issues, racking up another $130. Two days after my second visit my car broke down on the highway because the mechanic did not fix the coolant leak, causing a gasket to blow and my engine in need of replacement. I've been there for several uses over the years. Tires, batteries, and most recently a rattle in my front end. I feared the worst, but they sent a mechanic with me on a ride along so I could recreate the noise. He assured me it wasn't what I had been told it was. And the repair was $1000 cheaper than I was expecting and yes it did fix the problem. Always friendly staff, quick and reliable. I don't know cars, but I trust these guys. read more

Due to the questionable integrity of the employees here, I will not return if I can avoid it. I went in to get a flat repaired. The guy at the front desk came out to look at it and told me that it was beyond repair and would need to be replaced. I asked him if he was certain that was the case, and he assured me the tire would need to be replaced. I then handed him my Goodyear road hazard policy that I had purchased with the tire, and all of a sudden, with the prospect of me getting the replacement tire for free, he thought there was a chance the tire could be repaired, but he would have to check with the mechanics. I would not bring my car back here to get serviced. The service staff was not very attentive, and they did poor work on my car. I brought my car in because it died, and i assumed i needed a new alternator. They fixed the battery and gave me back the car. 5 days later the car died ago at midnight on a Saturday night. No place is open on Sundays to get a car fixed, so i had to wait until Monday to bring it back to Goodyear. They told me they gave me a bad battery and replaced it again, still not touching the alternator. 5 days later on my way to work, my car died on route 2 during rush hour. I got my car towed back to Goodyear and they finally decided to fix the alternator instead of just the battery. Shockingly, this fixed the problem I didn't have another problem with the car. They also really lack courtesy, and never once apologized for the mistake and tried to make me pay for 3 batteries, when they didn't fix the problem the first time. I typically hesitate to have my car serviced at a chain but when my car started making funky noises, I had no choice but to take my wheels to the Goodyear shop. Two years later... I continue to bring my car to Goodyear when I hear or feel that something isn't right. The service techs are great. John and Richard always call and assess the situation before the start working. Also very honest. Example, brought my car to the shop . John called to tell me what the problem was (the carburetor) but told me he wouldn't fix. The reason? The part was less than a year old and was under warranty..he told me to bring it back my previous mechanic as they should replace it for free -- seriously not many companies would do or say that. read more

When it comes to surliness, tire shop employees are usually right up there with dive bar regulars, off-duty cops and tow truck drivers. So imagine my surprise when I encounter not one, but two, employees here who were polite, attentive and helpful. I give them credit for replacing the damaged tire and not trying to coax me into buying a pair or even a set of 4. I spent more than I was hoping to, but that probably has more to do with manufacturer/distributor mark-up than the store itself. I can't speak on any repair services.. for that you should always go to a trusted local mechanic in my opinion (go find one on cartalk.com). For tires however I am very satisfied. Dick (who I believe is the manager) gave me a great price on two new tires.. much better then I could find elsewhere. They didn't try to sell me on anything else.. just straightforward good service. I went in for two new tires, got the best price around, and didn't have to deal with a litany of attempts to try and sell me other things. I'll go back here for tires again for sure. I had to wait a little longer then they advertised but no big deal.. Go next door and have a coffee/sandwich at Bloc 11 cafe. They have wifi too if you bring your laptop (although it costs $5/hour or $8/day). read more

Not a good experience. Terrible customer service. Went in on a Monday morning because I thought I had a slow leak in one of my tires. Explained this and was told it would be an hour. Kind of a bummer but I hadn't made an appointment so what could I do? Was anxious to get it looked at before a long car trip. Said I would come back. Killed an hour at a nearby cafe, went back in. Saw the same person at the counter and reminded him I was there about a slow tire leak. Sat down. Read a magazine. 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes... getting impatient. Look at my watch. 25 minutes... Same guy comes in and asks me if my car is already being looked at. (What?!) I say no. He proceeds to give me major attitude because they "can't look at my car if I am not checked in." We go back and forth a few times, his attitude increases. I finally say I'm going to go somewhere else. "Fine." he says. SO annoyed. So basically I lost an hour and a half of my morning and got nowhere. Perhaps there are other employees who are more pleasant, and perhaps they do good work, but I'll never know because I will definitely avoid this place from now on. Went down the street to Monro Muffler where the people were super nice, checked me in immediately, and did a great job. Save your time and go there instead. read more

I moved here from the west coast and this place was right by my house. I came into the shop to get my wheels rotated and balanced. When I got there I asked of they could also check the bakes and replace the center caps as they were getting all rusty from the east coast winter. First they told me that I would have to figure out what center caps I need and order them from a parts store because they don't do that kind of thing. Then 4 hours later I get a call telling me that the cars all done. When I got down there must have been some mixup with the phone calls because they are unable to get my lug nuts off and have not done anything to the car. They insisted they lug nuts were stuck and they didn't want to assume the risk. I took back the car and went to another tire shop near by. I actually watched the guy pop the lugs nuts off and I asked him if they were really tight. His answer "no more than they should be." This goodyear just wants to sell tires. They are not knowledgeable or if they are they just don't care. read more

I've had to bring my car into Goodyear 4 or 5 times over the last couple years and am always impressed by how reasonable, kind, and efficient the team is. I am so lucky I called Goodyear to handle my last minute tire issue the day before I was moving out of state! I called on a Saturday afternoon and they found time to fit me in before they closed and inspect my tire. They found it was a cracked air valve and then, to my surprise and amazement, replaced it for free as part of what they considered a complimentary tire check! If there is ever anything that is beyond their expertise they'll recommend going to a dealer, but that doesn't happen often. Last week we took our car here for tire change since we had a flat tire. First of all, there was no one at the desk, we were waiting there for 10 mins, then a person came and told us rudely that they are running late and will take 20 -25 minutes on the top. The person was not at all welcoming, no smile on his face, however he was welcoming others in better way. He seemed to be racists at that point to us. We wanted to get two tires changed but due to his rude behavior we decided to get only one tire changed. We have been living in the same neighbourhood for quite a long time but never experienced such racists behavior anytime before. We will never visit that store again and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
