Rude service the older gentelman should be fired. it took months to have these people to even look at my car. they would no work with the midas down in north providence. no return calls From customer service. reported to BBB (Better Business Bureau) they did not respond to BBB. This is false advertising your Midas guarantee is a lie. I should note have yo explain the same issue and call the other location personally because you can't do your jobs. shawn from north providence location was very helpfull in getting this fixed but should not have taken 2 months. and then tell me there's more wrong with the car cuz you could stay to your business statement 3000$ spent. this should not have been a hassle yet it was. a lawsuit will probabaly be filed for false advertising. and for god sake hire more customer service. two months calling every other day only to keep getting a busy signal. I made an appointment to get a wheel alignment. Gave them all the information and was told it would be $148,99. I questioned the price and was told that was it and I would not be able to get it done anywhere else for less, I left without having the work done and found a place in town to do a wheel alignment for $89. I wish I read all bad reviews before I came to this place. Now I got my own lesson. Brought my own two new tires to put on a car. Everything was fine with a car. One hour later manager Joe called me and said that I have broken rim and one TPMS sensor is bad. He offered me to wait till next day so he finds a used rim for me. Obviously I didn't have other choice. When I came next day to pick up the car he charged me $250 for an old rusted rim and another $170 for TPMS sensor. I promptly paid and then found that TPMS light is on. Joe told me that I have to drive at least 2 miles for the light to reset. Nothing happened even after 20 miles. I called Joe and he suggested me to bring the car back. When I came back I asked for an old rim and when I inspected it I found that the rim was damaged from handling with crowbar. They denied that they did it. And after multiple attempts their technicians could not reset TPMS light. So I left this place with $420 in damage and with TPMS light is on. I submitted the complaint to MIDAS on their web site. Everything that I got back was an angry call from Joe saying "Never come back to my place!" and a courtesy call from MIDAS headquarter in Florida with a suggestion to bring my car back. I have gone to Midas for several years and today was the last. I made an appt online and when I arriving for said appt I am given strongarm choice of semi-synthetic or synthetic. Conventional was NOT an option. I then told the service member that I have gone to Midas for years and have never gotten anything other than conventional. I was told there was no conventional and that the semi-synthetic was nearly twice the cost. Is this a common tactic? I find it highly suspect that an oil service station is out of conventional oil. Instead of getting an up-sell you lost a regular customer. These shady business tactics will not be tolerated. I am also filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

Moral of the story: Never, ever step foot into a Midas location, especially the one in Burlington, MA. Run the other way, as fast as you can! No Really, I would start running now. I was charged $800.62 (this down from greater than $ 960.00 after nearly 5 hours of arguing) to replace the rear wheel bearing on my vehicle. This is approximately $350 more expensive then the price I was originally quoted. I was told the job would take about 4-5 hours, in reality the job took 6 days to rectify. The extra price and time delay was due to the fact that the mechanic damaged (far beyond repair) the wheel hub, apparently while using an air powered chisel to remove the bearing from the hub, instead of the more orthodox tool, a pneumatic press. I received abysmal customer service throughout the experience. I was repeatedly miss-lead and deceived by several employees, including both managers. Both managers (Josh and Joe) were completely unprofessional and rude. While in the store trying to resolve the issue, I was repeatedly yelled at and I had to ask the manager, Joe, to calm down several times. At one point, Joe struck the counter with his hand forcefully, and leaned into the counter, showing signs of aggression. Throughout the experience, I did not speak to or disrupt any other customers. While speaking in a calm voice and standing in the lobby area waiting (admittedly in protest), I was asked to leave the premises. At one point, I waited outside (just off their property line) for 2 hours while waiting to talk to the second manager (Joe). After several hours, they tried to resolve the issue by offering me a free $25 oil change. I had a difficult time getting the names of the members of the people I was interacting with. I had to resort to asking multiple times and/or looking at the uniforms when worn. The managers would not give me the name or contact information of the owner, and never-once directed me to Midas customer service. Both managers told me that they would not give me a copy of the original service contract. Over the course of the week, I asked for this at least 5 times. I suspect the reason that they would not give me the contract, is because I signed a statement saying that, "I understood that there was a list of things that could possibly break while completing the job including the parking break and the suspension." However, the wheel hub was not one of the listed items. Description of Events: On Saturday, I got a phone call from Josh 30 minutes before the estimated finish time saying that the bearing was frozen in the hub. The mechanic said they needed to send the part to a machine shop (although he would not tell me where the machine shop was or provide me with the contact information to the shop). I called the next business day and they said that while trying to press out the bearing, they broke the hub. According to two other mechanics that I consulted with, "This seems unusual." Two days later, still with the car taken apart, I went to the shop and took a picture of the hub. There was a large deformation in the lower right hand corner. When sending pictures of the damaged parts to another well-experienced mechanic, I was told that, "It appears as though the mechanic from Midas used an air chisel to remove the wheel bearing from the hub and not a press." The managers at Midas apparently tried to call me to explain the situation, but my phone had no missed calls or voice mails. I have never-not received a call like this before. When I called they told me it would be $350 to buy a new hub. On the Auto Zone website, the most expensive similar part is around $167 (the cheapest is less then 80). I told the customer service representative this and he said that he called Auto Zone and that "part was not in stock. " The part was in fact IN stock. I asked if I could purchase the part from Auto Zone and he said that, "They don't do that". Why did he call Auto Zone if they don't do that? At this point, the car was actually in much WORSE condition than when I originally brought the car to the shop. I would have paid for the poor service I had already "received," which was quoted at approximately $325 (with over 3 hours of labor to get to the rear bearing out, yikes!) and towed the car to another shop, but things would have been very difficult now that the vehicle only had 3 working wheels. In the end, I paid approximately 8% of the cars worth to replace the one rear wheel bearing, all because the mechanics at Midas are incompetent and did the job incorrectly. Finally, after 6 days, I was told that my vehicle was finished and ready to be picked-up. Are you ready for the icing on the cake?... Drum roll please..."They indicated that they wouldn't accept card from me and that if I wanted my vehicle back, I would have to pay the full amount in cash." ***Please see the photos of our experience. read more

Have been here a few times. They get the work done quickly and properly. Have had great customer service. My wife had some work done at a different garage and it caused big problems for her. Got towed here, they dropped her off at work, promptly fixed the issue, and even picked her up at work. Very accomidating. Great experience! read more

Spoke to a employee at the location over the phone about plug/replacing a tire he told me $25 for plug and $130 for a replacement tire ON A 93 COROLLA (tire size 185/65/r14) crazy! Then I called back and asked how much to mount and balance if I already have a , the man said $35 because I already had tire. When I finally get to the office, the First comment he makes is "oh that's a new tire", realizing I knew he was over pricing the replacement tire. He then tells me it's going to be $45 for a mountain balance. Because he knew that I needed to go through with the transaction he knew he'd be able to push the price up on me (extortion at it finest). DO NOT GO HERE- WORST SERVICE EVER- COMPLETE CROOKS Let me start this by saying I have been to a few other Midas's before going to this one in Burlington. This by far is the worst experience I've ever had. I bought my car 14 months ago, brand new, and at the time I brought my car into this Midas for a standard oil change/tire rotation- I had just above 13k miles on it. Within 20 minutes of working on my oil change/tires the guy at the front desk comes out and starts telling me that my back left brake pad is completely worn out. Because of this I was told I needed to replace both of my rear brakes, my alignment also needed to be fixed/adjusted as well as several other smaller items needed to be replaced as well. My standard oil change/tires on my brand new car had quickly turned into $900 worth of work they expected, and very harshly, tried to convince me I needed to get done right then and there. As I tried to tell them "no, this will be covered by my warranty with Mazda" the guy pushed even more claiming this would not be covered by warranty and Mazda is going to charge me twice as much as they would and I should just get everything done right then. After I pushed back several times he finally let up (but still made me feel like I was making a very stupid mistake) and ended up just finishing my oil change/tires. I immediately called Mazda to set up an appointment and told them about the "issues" Midas told me was wrong with my car. As I suspected, Mazda told me that these problems weren't common and would in fact be covered by my warranty and to bring my car in- which I did the following weekend. After an hour of them looking at EVERYTHING on my car the mechanic pulled me aside to tell me that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH ANYTHING on my car and it was in perfect condition- no work was needed. It turns out that the people at this Midas location are complete and total crooks. They were trying to scam me into paying 6x as much for "issues" my car didn't even have. They are money hungry dirt bags just trying to take advantage of anyone who they think may be dumb enough to fall for their BS. I have never experienced anything like this before and I will never go back to a Midas again. Their service is unprofessional, disrespectful and completely unethical. read more

I have used Midas in Burlington for years for exhaust work only and the prices were always reasonable. However last week I went in for urgent repairs that couldn't wait and they quoted me a price that was several hundred dollars more than I expected. This quote included inflated parts costs (I save all my old bills and the same part that had cost $139 in 2005 was now $289!) and two hours labor. Long story short I was over a barrel and agreed to have them do the job anyway. The job took only one hour. In retrospect the empty waiting area when I arrived should have tipped me off to something. I complained about the two hour labor charge when the job was finished and the manager told me two people were working my car for the hour it took to fix it. I could see the work area the entire time and there was a second person on the job for 10 minutes max. I went to a competitor after the fact and was quoted $240 less for the same job. Had a hole in my brake line. Risked my life driving to this shop on a Saturday; it was the only place open. Brake line alone is fairly cheap, a little over $20, but the hole was behind the firewall, so I knew it would be a bit more expensive, because of the labor to get to it. Upon arrival, the shop was empty, and only two cars were in the parking lot, presumed to be employee vehicles. They mentioned it was $47 dollars just to put it on the lift and see what was wrong with it, but since my dad got brakes there before, they waived the fee. They called me two hours later and quoted me at $800; they said it would take two days to fix, and they would have to spend half a day removing parts to get to it. I told them I would take it elsewhere. Upon arrival the mechanic said he wouldn't recommending driving it. At this time the brake pedal was A LOT softer than when I brought it there. I had to pay 90$ to tow it to a local mechanic, who would not get to it until Monday. He called me and said it would cost $200 and would have it done by the end of the day. Paid $290 total, should have skipped out on Midas from the get-go and saved myself $90 and a Saturday. read more

I brought my car in today at 11:45AM to get an oil change and tire rotation. Just on a side note I went into this place this past Monday to see how much it would cost to replace a headlight in my car. On Monday they told me it would be $30 for labor and parts, I declined. Today I asked them if they could just throw the new bulb in for me today as they were working on it because I had purchased the bulb elsewhere. Today the price in just labor to replace the bulb was $37.50!!!! Right before I went here I had all 4 of my tires replaced and balanced at townfaire tire down the street. I told them that I would come back to my car later because I had to get back to work; they had my number on file and would call if there was an issue. 3:45 PM I get a ride back here from a co worker to pick my car up. It still isn't completed! Like I said it was just an oil change and tire rotation. I walk in the door and the man at the desk said we called you and left you a message because we have some issues. I asked what number they called because I received nothing. They messed up the last 4 digits on my cell phone number so I never received the call. Anyways, they tell me that they notice I had my tires balanced last in late 2012 at our station (which is true) and your tires are now out of balance again. Now like I said before my tires were all just replaced and balanced up the street at another garage that doesn't do oil changes. I let the man finish telling me what else is wrong before I say anything. He tells me that also my rear brakes are almost completely gone and need to be replaced. Now my rear brakes were just replaced by a co worker not even more than 2 months ago in the parking lot of my work! So I actually happen to still have my receipt from townfaire tire showing that my tires were replaced and balanced 4 hours ago. I show him the receipt and the guy says "well maybe they didn't do a good job". I then quickly decline the brake job as the pads were just replaced and I still have the box in my trunk. He tells me that the brakes aren't going to last long and look like they were never changed in the car. I tell him to pop my trunk and look in the trunk because I still had the box from when my brakes were changed two months ago and I still had that receipt because the pads are warranted. He says he didn't need to do that. Clearly this place is just trying to milk people out of money considering they say my tires are out of balance when they were just all replaced and balanced!!! I went to this location for an estimate for front brakes. The service manager showed me an estimate for the cost of repair, totaling $634.00! I don't really remember the entire breakdown, because he would not allow me to leave the store with the detailed estimate in hand. Because I was on my lunch break, and I hadn't planned on dropping over $600.00 that day, I asked if I could call at a later date. He gave me a 'replacement' receipt, with no details, and charged me $47.50 for the estimate. Here's what I do remember, $139.00 for brake pads, the rotors were over $200.00, and caliper service was $65.00, and the rest, labor. I went to a local tire/auto repair place in Wakefield, was told my pads were fine, the rotors needed to be replaced, and did the caliper service, along with a tire rotation and alignment; all for $298.00!!! I feel like Midas was trying to take advantage, and well, they still got me for the $47.50. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone go there. read more

My daughter brought her car here in March 2015 with the exhaust pipe dragging after hitting a pot hole. She was late for work, but told them she had someone (her brother) who could do the repair at home, but just to please fix it so she could safely get the car home. Later that afternoon she was able to get a ride back there about a half hour before they were set to close at 5 pm that evening. The manager there with the difficult to understand accent handed her a repair bill for about $515.00. Her debit card had a limit, and it was declined. She called me, because he now threatened to close the shop in a few minutes without releasing the car to her. I asked him what he had done to the car and he got very agitated and defensive. He mentioned the muffler, regulator, catalytic converter and tail pipe. I assumed they had been replaced, and negotiated the price to $450, while he kept asking me "how much is on your card?" To pay the bill, he insisted that I fax him an authorization with my name, address, credit card data and signature, which is much more than you need for a telephone credit card transaction approval. Now I'm worried about the possibility of identity theft too. Once we got the car back at home, my son checked it out and saw that nothing had been replaced at all. They only welded the old parts back together. Most mechanics can install the entire system in 2 hours or less. The weld was less an an hour. How did that amount to $515 or even the $450 we settled on? What is their hourly labor rate? This business is a total RIP OFF... Needed a Tire Repair. Understood why based on the location of the hole that I needed to replace the tire as repair wasn't safe. What I can't understand is how they arrive at a price of $121/tire for the same model I could get on the internet for $50. Felt like I was mislead as they told me they needed to get the tires from their "Warehouse". Shocked to see a Town Fair Tire Truck deliver the tires. This may explain why I spent $70 more per tire ($140 total). I can see spending 120/tire for a name brand, but these were Doral Tires (a brand I had never heard of). read more

I wouldn't even give this place a half a star! This place literally tried take FULL advantage of me on Monday January 23rd. I work in Burlington and I was on my to work and discovered that I had lost my brakes NO brake fluid at all! The person that I spoke with gave me quote for $698.00 and top of it he also told me that my front brake rotors were shot too and needed to be replaced and that was an additional cost. My heart went into my stomach told him I had to think about it I went outside to make a phone call. He followed me outside and told they could fix it for $450.00! I called AAA and had my vehicle towed to another auto center and they replaced just the brake line for $235.00. The front brake rotors had nothing wrong just normal wear and tear on it. I wish I had read the reviews here (Filtered reviews) before I went to this Midas!!! My check engine light was on. I made a mistake of going to this Midas. I had read that AutoZone and even many Midas(like in Woburn) and Munro offer free diagnosis ..I am not talking about detailed investigation. This Midas juts took 5 mins and after asking me- when did you change the coolant last.. said It was o2 sensor code. C'mon just for 5 mins check engine light check they charged me 95$.(Thats the precise time they spent on my vehicle. Two guys like a doctor after reading machine code, asking me my symptoms instead of doing some investigation work . Also, They never said or offered anything like -If you get the work done from one this 95$ will be adjusted towards that which their headquarter customer service is now offering. Their estimate itself was way higher after I went to Munro and my local garage. I would have no problems if they would have investigated and spend some time to find out the cause. You don't expect that a good auto service station to just rely on the machine code which takes 5 mins(which autozone does too for free) and charge you a whopping 95$. I will never ever go to this Midas , not even for a flat tire and oil change. Who knows they will charge you 95$ for a flat tire too. If I was told in advance that they would just read the code from machine and not investigate the problem , I would have never agreed to pay the amount and would.. No wonders there was no other Cars under service/repair when I went to this location. read more

I hope people are reading this because there are tons of negative reviews that have all gotten filtered out. It must be because Yelp can't believe that a place could really be this horrible, but believe me, it is! I brought my car for an oil change and was told that my air filter was dirty and needed to be replaced. I declined the service because my car is less than a year old and I was suspicious. Following the appointment I started noticing a burning smell. I figured I really needed to replace the air filter, so I bought one to do ourselves. Upon going to change it, my husband found that my filter was not at all dirty, so they completely LIED to me to try to get me to pay for a service that was not at all needed. At this time he also found that Midas did not reconnect a hose to the engine while performing this "complimentary check." I figured that was the reason for the smell. After my husband reconnected it, I realized that was not the cause. I brought it to a place I could actually trust, a place my mother has gone for years, and they told me that the burning smell was from oil leaking everywhere due to a poor oil change. So, I had to pay for them to clean up the mess and do another whole oil change. I called Midas with all of my issues and only asked for a simple $32, reimbursement for the money I had to spend at the second place to fix the problem they caused. I was told that they couldn't reimburse me, that I had to call Customer Service. They proceeded to give me an incorrect number. When I did get in touch with Customer Service, they didn't take down my total complaint, pretty much only that I wanted $32, and I was told that I would get a follow-up call within 2 days. I did get a follow-up call and was refused the simple $32. He kept talking over me and denying that they did anything wrong. In the end he said that if I brought the car back again they could possibly give me a free oil change. UM, NO! That's exactly how I got into this mess in the first place, because they can't even perform a simple oil change. I WILL NEVER GO BACK, and I advise you not to go for your first (which would definitely be your last) time. read more
