I called Midas in Cat City for a small job, adjusting replacement headlights that had been newly installed elsewhere that were aiming too low (hi beams hit pavement 20' in front of my vehicle). Called for an appointment and was given a specific time, 10:30am, that same day (Christmas Eve!) When I arrived they did the usual paperwork and gave me an estimate of something like $120-$145 and less than an hour to do the work. Seemed high but I was desperate so said yes. Thirty minutes later, my truck was ready; total charge, $40! They said it was much less work than anticipated. I was blown away. Easy to make an appointment. Got me in on time. Got me out quicker than expected. Charged much less than originally estimated. Awesome experience! Found out while there, they also sell tires, so plan to check them out when I have a need for these. read more

I had the worst customer service I ever experienced at this Midas in Cathedral city. The lady they have at the counter, horrible customer service she is the worst service tech I ever experienced in my 50 years. I arrived at midas after receiving a call my cars oil change had been completed. I was left sitting there while she checked in several customers and ignoring my paperwork on her desk as well as me. She checked in too customers for uber inspections completed there inspections got them out the door while the whole time I'm sitting right there, just horrible. To make things worse with one of the customers that was there for an inspection she took the time to share baby pictures as we'll as Facebook photos ‍. I will never ever return to this establishment and I will make sure none of family and friends will either. My advice if need some work done to ur car go to firestone they're right across the street. I NEVER submit reviews. BUT. one of our work trucks was heading back to L.A. from a service call in Indio when it broke down (with a broken drive belt) on I-10 at 3:30 pm on Friday afternoon. After frantically calling around for someplace that could repair it, and for a tow truck, it was suggested that we call Midas Cat City. The truck didn't get to Midas until nearly 5:30 a close a 6. They already had the belt ready to install but then found that the idler pulley assembly had fallen apart. I expected a story about leaving the truck until Monday BUT they called their parts supplier, got the correct idler assembly, and had the truck back on the road by 7 PM, an hour past their published closing time. Surprise #2: the bill was only $550.00. The local dealer had quoted us about $900 if we left it over the weekend. As a small fleet manager, I've had some bad (and very expensive) experiences with "on the road" repairs including Midas locations elsewhere, and dealers. These guys were a wonderful change of pace. My spouses' car suddenly began leaking a dangerous amount of exhaust in the cabin. We 1st took it to RBS Automotive where they charged us 150.00 even though they couldn't fix the problem. Now we were short on repair cash. I called around and everyplace was full for the day on a Friday. The shop foreman at PEP BOYS made me promise to get this fixed immediately and since they were full, sent me to see Matt and John at Midas on Ramon Rd. We were told the part/work needed could run 1000.00 because only Nissan sells the part and they've made it pricey. Matt said he wanted to get in there and see if a safe repair was possible. They called in a welder for a hairline crack in the otherwise fine converter and our bill was 275. I just love these guys. My disabled sister went to Midas after they didn't properly identify an issue with her vehicle a week before. They made the needed repairs today. She can't pay for the repairs because she is not working. I offered to pay but this Midas location required I send via e-mail my driver's lic. and the front and back of my credit card to them. Normally, I can give retailers my information by phone to avoid my data circulating in an e-mail. That's a potential security issue since I honestly don't know who'll see and keep my information after I send it. They insisted on the e-mail after I explained the security issue. My recommendation is don't go to this establishment--they do poor work, take advantage of the disabled, and handle credit card security with disregard. I'm contacting their headquarters and the state of California on their practices. read more

I bought my car to Midas for a rattling sound I hurd in the left rear of my car, i thought it was the shock but they said it was my bushings and both sides needed to be changed to make it even for $1,450 dollars. I decided to go to a place down the street he Inspected it just like Midas except the cost was $60.00. The problem was a loose screw on my left shock, what did we learn? On 7/29/19 I came in at 4p to have my power steering looked at. I had been to a few other shops who said they were too busy. It was a LONG and HOT day and I didn't even care if all they did that day was just take a look at it. So I come in with my mother and we probably looked cranky. The AC was on, so it was delicious inside. And at the country was Rodney who took care of us immediately. He got us in and pretty much every step of the way he kept us updated with what the problem could be as well as working quickly. It was for the power steering and it was fixed that same day. Been kept us up to date and telling us the routes they are taking so that we don't have to spend more money but get everything we needed done was very helpful and it made my mother and I not so cranky anymore. Went in for an oil change and serviceman found a leaking Thermostat housing Anti-freeze unit. Price was $688 for both oil change and unit. They installed an after-market unit from San Bernardino and found it was CRACKED. They removed the flawed part and called my home. I said put the original part back on truck, they did. I arrived and paid only for oil change. They said please call us on Monday and we'll try again. Instead, I called Performance Plus and got a quote for $281.00 including labor on a Mopar dealership part. Looks like God was protecting me from being RIPPED OFF from Midas. read more

The Midas installed muffler on my car was rattling. Midas said the rattling was because the muffler needed the hangers replaced and the car needed a tuneup. 40 miles after I got the car back, I returned it because the check engine lights were on AND the rattling was still present. Midas said the rattling was because the Midas muffler needed welding, and because the check engine light was not on when I brought the car back, that I should drive the car and bring it back when the check engine light was on. I was told that I would be called when the Cathedral City shop made the appointment with the Indio shop. After a few days, I returned to the shop to get the information. I was told to drive my car to Indio. During that drive the check engine lights came on again. It now appears that my engine incurred thousands of dollars of damage because JAMES told me to drive the car with the check engine lights on on April 4th when Midas claims JAMES had not started work yet. I will talk to Jason tomorrow, but I feel that I will end up suing Midas. read more

I should have taken my 2012 328i to ultimate motors instead of the discount tire shop down the street. My dash display indicated a "battery charging malfunction" and the tire shop recommended replacing the battery. Replacing the battery did not solve the issue after driving it home from the shop. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere that evening! Thankfully my first responders cell phone had reception and I called a freind for a ride. Also had the car towed back to the shop. I called them the following day and they suggested taking it to a BMW dealer in palm springs after letting me know they could not diagnose the problem. Thankfully, and after a long discussion, they suggested taking it to ultimate auto (UA) down the street. I had my car towed from the discount tire shop to UA and gave them a call. The receptionist was very kind and let me know they would take care of the problem. Hopefully it's a minor issue and i can drive back home in my car. read more

The owner and his son went beyond the call of duty by systematically assessing our check engine light on our camper van and coming up with possible solutions on very short notice. The customer service and speed were phenominal and I can't strees this enough... the owner gave me his number if we had any general questions about the van in the future... which is just amazing! As a customer service professional myself I was shocked... and even more shocked when later down the road we found out a Jiffy Lube oil change and incorrectly installed fuel filter popped off, spiling fuel all over the place! We were out on public lands miles away from help so we called to ask for advice, and not only did they pick up, but they helped us to realize that the problems we were having all stemed from this faulty installed fuel filter. They didn't have to answer our questions or help us but they did. The world needs more people like this and I for one am happy they're out there. Thank you for going beyond the call of duty. I took my car here and was really impressed with the friendly people. They have all kinds of certifications on their mechanics. Overall not a bad place to end up sitting all day. There was a tv and a drink machine. I did have a weird experience with my car though and to this day I am not certain if I was treated well, or put through some stuff. First they repaired my catalytic converters...very prompt and nice. Then my car broke down....they had made a mistake on the repair and left some wires out of their harness...melted now. The management was SUPER SUPER nice...but what happened to all the experienced certified help? I guess they didn't work on MY car. On the up side, they rented a car for me during the second repair and that pleased me, even though I was not to be pleased with the economy wind up car they got me. I had my car there for several days and then took it, waiting for a part and had to go back. I thought after spending $2300 they would wash my car or something. I asked if they would change my oil because I felt like I was due some extra attention and their ads go on and on about thier inspection on every vehicle....I got an oil change coupon for asking. They were very nice to shuttle me back to my home one day. They gave me a quote on my brake discs and they only had ONE package---all the way around and a lifetime gaurantee. Trouble was I didn't have a lifetime of savings and I took it somewhere else that would just do the job and give me just the front ones. Instead of $600 permanent job from Midas, I did the fronts for $206, then a few weeks later did the back for $80 ( Ineeded a router for the front which is why it varied. I love those guys there and would gladly hang out there a few more days....but I am not sure I would get my car repaired there again read more

I called this place to get my breaks done, they said 239.99 for front and back. I said ok cool, so the day goes by they call and say the breaks are done but we only did the front because the back breaks are still in good condition, I said ok good. They still charge me 239.99 even though they only did the front, so full price for half the work, that is a scam if I ever heard one, but they come with a lifetime warranty, just pay 130 dollars for labor, screw that, and not to mention the disgusting unclean lobby, I get that it's an auto shop but I've seen some that are beautiful on the inside, the employee helping was not wearing a face mask even though they have signs posted everywhere saying that it's required by law to wear one. And to top it off the next morning when I go out to my car I have a flat tire. I have not a had flat tire in my entire 34 years of living, there was a huge screw in my tire, looked like it was hammered it, I absolutely guarantee it happened at the Midas. This place is sketchy and I would not recommend them. I don't know how this place has 4 stars, I wouldn't give it 1. read more
