My car was kinda hiccuping when I stepped on gas so took car to Midas and was helped by Jason the Mgr. they had me sign fir diagnostic and wait for their call. Jason called said it needed a coil and filter etc. and I said to do oil change too and was quoted $688. I approved repairs. Then I got a call car was ready. A couple minutes later I got a call that they found one more bad coil and now it would cost $812. Traditionally when they diagnose problem and you approve repair they don't charge you to diagnose. But they did! So I left and checked with a friend who had been a service mgr and he agreed - typically your not charged for diagnosis if you agree to the repair. I called Midas and spoke to another employee who agreed and when I arrived back at Midas Jason refunded me the $95 diagnostic charge. I really feel like they thought "woman" we can charge what we want and she won't know any better!! Two days later car began acting the same as before Midas repair. Upon suggestion of friend I took the car to Mountain View Tire and repair in La Quinta. They found that Midas has left a lose spring from one of the old coils in the bottom of my new coil and that ruined my new coil. I let Mountain View repair Midas screw up for $180 as I had lost total faith in Midas credibility and ethics. Car runs great now. Recommend Mountain View Tires in La Quinta and advise everyone to stay away from Jason and Midas in Cathedral City. They are not reputable! read more

John, the gentleman who was in charge of this store on 8/29, stated that he would order a part to be installed on 8/31. But when I called on 8/30 to confirm that the part had been ordered, the person who answered (Andrew) said "I don't know anything about that" and that John wouldn't be back for several days. While I was on the phone Andrew made no effort to investigate whether the order had been placed. Nor did he ask for my phone number so he could call me back after investigating. He gave the impression that he was profoundly uninterested in my business. This is no way to provide customer service. After this experience, it is highly unlikely I will return to this Midas store, or to any other Midas facility. read more

Incompetent or bold face liars. Midas told me all my struts were blown and that they could give me a great deal to replace them for 1200 dollars. I got a second opinion from an independent mechanic and a third opinion from the dealership and both said my struts were in great shape. Midas is on my black list. I wouldn't ever trust them again. read more

I visited yesterday for some routine maintenance and, as usually anticipated, some unexpected issues were identified. The Shop Manager, Jason was more than helpful in explaining what should be corrected as soon as possible and what could wait, taking into consideration my current budget constraints. He never once failed to keep me apprised of the status and any changes throughout my service. When I received his call indicating my car was ready to go, I'd already calculated the final price from our previous discussions and he surprised me by additionally discounting the total! Not only does my car feel brand new, my wallet didn't suffer. I've already recommended this shop to two of my employees and will certainly do so with the other 50 when they need auto service. My 95 Subaru Legacy wasn't accelerating, and had the check engine light on, and I thought I would never be able to drive her again. I was referred to Midas, so I drove her (gripping the steering wheel the whole time) to this Midas, and Chuck took excellent care of my baby. It turned out to be a misfire in one of the fuel injectors, so he cleaned it, checked my air conditioner, and put air in my tires. I was afraid all of services he provided would cost me most of my paycheck, but let's just say it was such a good price, I will refer everybody here! Outstanding customer and automotive service!!! My Electronic Throttle light came on and I called and spoke to Chuck. He said to bring it in and he would diagnose it for me. When I got there he was very nice and reassured me that they would find out what was wrong. Of course the light never came back on, but Chuck drove it around a few times and checked everything out and found that a cable was loose and that could be the issue. He reassured me that everything would be ok and if it happened again that I am welcome to come back. I recently had an oil change at Midas. After leaving and heading out of town for the weekend, I noticed the "Check Engine" light was on. When I returned, I took the car back to Midas and showed them that an engine sensor near the dip stick had been broken off. Manager said it was my problem not his and would do nothing to fix it. He also said the employee no longer worked there. Cheap Midas oil change - $25. My cost to repair their damage - $370. Avoid this business. read more

Took my truck in for an inspection because the rear brakes were sqeaking. Chuck and his crew installed new brake pads, flushed the system, and turned the rotors. We had just begun our trip to Texas with a cab full of pets when our air conditioning went out in 103° weather. We called at 1730 on a Friday and Chuck's response was, "we're supposed to be closing up shop, but bring it in and we'll check it out." He determined it was the compressor clutch but couldn't replace it that night due to lack of parts. We found a local hotel and were able to take it in first thing Saturday morning for replacement of the parts. We were visiting from out of town for a softball tournament and we thought we might have a leaking tire after a long road trip. Staff checked it out, couldn't find a leak but discovered that all four tires had low pressure because of the changing temperatures and so they filled them up to the appropriate amount free of charge. Messed up and went to jiffy lube for my oil change instead of Midas. Jiffy lube stripped my drain plug and couldn't remove it. Told me they could not change my oil. Took it to midas and they easily handled the problem and was $30 cheaper. Bill is always a great help. Only place I will bring my Grand Cherokee. read more

This is my second time in 6 months that I've brought a car to Midas. The first one was for a last-minute oil change for my older Honda CRV. They were about to close, but they squeezed me in at the last minute and did a quick job at a reasonable cost. No problems, nice service. Today, it was for a front end alignment on my Toyota Tundra, again near closing time, and with a very fair price, better than the tire guys down the street. I feel they are very fair and honest. The Chevron station on the corner of Ramon and Landau was the one who recommended Midas to me six months ago. BTW, the Chevron is also a great place, which I'll review later. I have no regrets coming here or recommending it to others. In my opinion, I'll be coming back to Midas! read more

Took my vehicle in with a quote that was reasonably priced had a 4:00 appt. Didn't leave til after 6:00 and without my vehicle because 1) they didn't have my parts in. 2) when they did get the parts in they were the wrong parts. 3) when they returned the wrong parts they came back with the wrong parts again. By the 3rd time it was closing and we decided to leave the car til the next day seeing how my tires and brakes had already been taken off and my car was on a lift. Came back the next day to pick up the car and pay and when the bill came it was 3times the price we had been given. Never received a call letting us know what actually was going to be done or the final price. I will never take my car back or recommend anyone else to take their car to this unorganized money pit!!! read more

Went in for a brake job... Was told that I needed to spend $600 for perfect all working brakes... So i said okay... Now the brakes make a knocking noise when you apply the brakes... I took it back in and they looked at it and said this and that was wrong... Everything including loose hubcaps... Funny it wasn't making any noises before and my "loose hubcaps" seemed fine before... Normally I would take my car to my regular mechanic for an AC charge but just as an after thought, I telephoned MIDAS at this location and was instantly impressed with the customer service of John, Monday Manager and how he quoted prices and generally was not pushy yet welcoming. I took my car in and was impressed not only by the prices (that caused me to instantly terminate my regular mechanic) but by the quality of service and pride of workmanship by CHUCK, their main mechanic (dirty deed doer). Not only did they take care of the task at hand but blew out my cabin filter which I did not know existed, replaced it and the price again, was simply unbelievable. The manager SCOTT, absolutely has this ship running smoothly and it shows in the quality of work and very happy attitudes of the associates there. I absolutely rate this business a 5 star and highly recommend them for quality service, customer service, pride in workmanship and congeniality. My family and I were traveling from Arizona to Los Angeles and our check engine light came on. We drive a Mercedes Benz S600 V12 so naturally a lot of mechanic shops don't work on Mercedes. After calling the dealership we were told they couldn't get us into get it fixed until the following morning. So we stayed the night and took it in. They call us with 2 different prices saying they read the amount wrong the first time and the second call was $750 more. They seriously wanted to charge us double the price the dealership in Arizona would of charged us. So we called Midas and they gave us a great price on doing the job! They needed to order more parts and told us wouldn't be ready until Monday. They were very honest and communicated with us the whole time. They did a great job over all!
