There are lots of places in the city to get an oil change and get your car fixed. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, the management and customer service is atrocious. Had a simple oil change done and they ran out of air filters - which I get - so management tells me to just stop by and they'll take care of it some other day. Annoying, but fine I decided to do that cause what else am I gonna do. Tried calling and getting in to get the filter put in yet each time they tell me there too busy and maybe they'll get to it later in the day or some other day. Clearly they don't give a damn after they've got your money. In this day in age who has like 2-3 hours to burn to get an air filter put in. Place is a disaster bc management sucks. Thank god I only needed a simple oil change. Do yourself a big favor and go somewhere else. read more

However, they were able to squeeze me in by having me drop off my car and pick it up same day. They pointed out what was wrong and needed to be updated--but there was no BS in their upselling. If Yelp allowed (-1 ) review, this will be it. Sebastian tried to upsell me on unnecessary coolant flush. He says my coolant was low. I had my coolant flushed in November at the Jeep dealership. It was replaced with OAT 10 yr/150 K miles coolant. I checked my coolant reservoir the day before and radiator a few weeks ago-both at full level. There is no coolant leak for the level to be low. It's a closed cooling system, so the level will not go down in one day with no active coolant leak. My appointment is at 10 am for a brake flush. He says it will take 1.5 hours to complete. I came back, and the car is at the same spot. The tech drove it in and drove out and came back around 5 minutes. He put it on the lift, and approximately 15 minutes later, the car was parked at the front. I asked why the brake fluid was still darkish in color vs. new fluid amber/ clear color. Sebastian says the new fluid is circulating in the brake system. So, if I wanted a completely brake flushed system where the brake fluid is amber/ clear color in the reservoir, it would cost more than $100 and more service time. I paid $92.04 tax included with a 10 off $100 Midas coupon. I guess the brake flush on the invoice was technically more of a "brake bleed/ flush". With appointment I went to the Midas 10min before 10am. First they couldn't find the reservation, then I spoke to the person who gave me the appointment, he seemed confused but took me in. I was told it would take a couple of hours and they will call me (side-note, there were only 2costumers before me). At 1pm I had still no calls so I called them to hear about the situation and if my car was ready for pick up. They couldn't find it, they didn't remember what needed to be done, then asked me to call back after 10min because they needed to check. I called back and they hadn't the car inside the shop yet. I was told they would immediately work on it and should have beed 45min-1h max... They never called back. The shop was closing at 6pm so for 5:30pm I directly went there because I really, really needed the car Saturday and.... first they couldn't find it, then I was told they had not the time to check it so... the job wasn't done. If you like to be respected & not taken advantage of save yourself some time and money and take your car elsewhere. I initially brought my car here for an oil change. That led to them telling me I needed almost two thousand dollars worth of repairs. After getting those repairs, I picked up my vehicle and immediately noticed the AC wasn't working. I called the front desk person right away and he told me to bring my car back the next day. I did as I was told, dropped my car off at 945 am and was called right before they closed and was told I needed to pick up my vehicle. Once there, I'm informed they didn't have time to look at my car. So I coordinated with the front desk guy to drop off my car another day. The second day I'm told that my AC still isn't working. They claimed to have checked it & recharged the AC but then stated since the recharge didn't work it had to be a sensor issue & therefore an issue that wasn't caused by their mechanics. But keep in mind my AC was in working condition prior to me taking my vehicle to them. I got overwhelmed and had my friend go talk to the front desk person since they're more familiar with car terminology. The front desk person immediately became condescending, looked at me & told me he'd only speak with me since the car was mine and completely ignored all the questions the person that was with me was asking. I was then told to take my car back a few days from then. Not the next day because they claimed to be too busy to look at it. I took it back a few days later. During mid day, I get a call from the new manager. The first thing he tells me is that he had to bring his 15 thousand dollar computer to work because of me. That he never travels with his computer but since they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my vehicle that he had to risk his computer and take it outside his home. I'm then told they aren't going to fix my AC because I can't prove they caused the damage to it. I also get informed I need to pick up my vehicle then and there. Once in the office the new manager of this establishment felt the need to grab his computer and wave it in front of my face and again tell me he had to risk bringing his computer to work to figure out what was wrong with my car. Then he shows me some website he had to visit in order for other mechanics to help him narrow down the problem with my AC. He hands me the documents that state what is wrong with my AC. Tells me to take my car to a different mechanic and that if they can prove their mechanics caused my issue & that the repairs needed weren't what he concluded - that he would pay for the repairs. Mind you, this is after they had my car on 3 different days. Just because they figured out the issue doesn't mean they didn't cause it. Uber costs and a waste of time later.. I got frustrated and raised my voice & told them how unprofessional they were being. The exchange ended in the new manager telling me to go F myself. Brought my car her for a oil change, I go home walk my dogs and get in my car to run errands and all of a sudden my car is making noise when I turn the wheel..It then clicks in my head that they cut the powersteering line..(not saying it was done intentionally) this happened last time I took my buick truck to the Midas on Archer/ by pulaski. I call them and tell him what happened and he tells me in a higher tone than when he answered the phone "No we didn't " and hangs up on me..Really?! Ok .I call back and say did you just hang up on me? Yea you're not gona yell at me he said..um you didn't give me a chance to cuz you hung up on me you fat f*&$ Never will i go there again! these guys are are awesome !!! I had to fix my rear brakes and they fixed them the same day . I called to get a quote and when I got there they checked my breaks and I needed new brakes and rotors . the same price they told me over the phone was what I ended up paying . They didn't try to add on extra stuff but instead they were clear with the status of the condition of my front breaks and told me I have a lot of life left in them !! Other places would be like yah you have to change them because it's bad and blah . But no legit these guys checked what I had concerns about and I even asked them to check if anything else was off and they said everything looked good ! The only con about the place is that it is on a busy street and pulling your car in is a bit tricky but other than that everything was great !!! I started by trying to schedule an appointment online for next day. I received an email stating that I would receive a call within 30 business minutes to confirm if the time was available. I called the next morning and was told the online scheduling does not work. Not sure why it's pretty prominent on their website. This would have secured 5 stars for the additional convenience. I was able to schedule an appointment for the following day. When I arrived at the location that I've driven past many times it was unclear how to enter. You need to be driving westbound on Roosevelt, in the right lane. There is a small alleyway to the right of the building, this is where you pull your car into. When I walked inside I was quickly greeted and they confirmed I parked in the right spot and took my keys. They completed my oil change and tire rotation within an hour while I waited. So, long story short - I'll be going there when my precious Jeep needs some TLC! The longer story - I'm new in town, and, an immigrant! I called on Thursday 22 Sept looking for a slot on Friday 23rd! Duh.... Young lady I spoke to said "only option is a walk in, at opening." I said "ok - what time do y'all open?". She said - "bring it here 8:00 am" - I said "ok"! Next day - took my vehicle there - and drove around small block a couple times ( parking's really tight!) before finding a parking spot and going inside. Spoke to the guy at the check in station - and he was straight with me. Said right up "too much work carried o er, best we can do is next week!". I said "ok! - when?" He said "9:00 am Friday". I said Ok. Fast forward - I returned today ( Friday 30th Sept 22) at 8:50, found a slot to park, walked in and was greeted as if they knew me!! Strange- but great feeling!! Left my vehicle there at 9, went for a very tasty breakfast nearby, and returned couple hours later to pick up. Was really pleased that the work asked for had been done, I have a report for my battery, checked emissions, oil change and tire service!. In full transparency, i always feel I'm about to be scammed when I go to a vehicle repair facility because I know nothing about the subject matter, but I left this place with a real modicum of trust. I've never had a bad experience here. The young guys at the desk are always respectful and willing to explain or answer questions. I'm always irritated when I feel like I'm being swindled or sold something I don't need because I'm a woman. Never had that experience here. That's why I keep going back. They don't do a great job calling you when you're ready. I assume they're busy so I typically just drop it off on my way to work and call when I think about leaving at the end of the day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Car issues are never cheap so when you are dealing with them it is important to go to a place you can trust that recognizes it is expensive! This Midas location quoted me 2 hours of labor and it took over 5 to complete the work. They only charged me for the 2 hours of labor even though it was a non-binding quote they gave initially. They have continued to follow up to make sure i am happy with the work. They asked I bring the car in the next week so they can make sure everything is running appropriately (at no charge). I forgot to bring it in and they texted me asking how everything was. Not to mention Midas offers a 24 month warranty on their work/parts. read more

Dropping off your car for service isn't obvious to those who haven't been here before. You must enter heading westbound on Roosevelt, through the bike lane, and not into pull into the shop directly, they'll tell you to back up into oncoming traffic or circle the block. Right before the business, there is an extremely narrow driveway that you should pull into. It's loaded with at least 5 other cars. I requested an appointment using their service online and it mentioned I would get a call within 12 hours. I never got a call so a day or two later I called the shop directly to schedule a simple, routine service. I went in with a groupon for an oil change. The man at the desk told me the groupon I had bought for conventional oil wasn't correct and I would need the synthetic for my small, cheap hatchback. Seemed a little odd, maybe an upswell because ima woman so they assumed (and if so were fairly correct) that I know nothing about cars. It was a hassle and then I had to deal with returning a groupon. Seemed a little fishy that I had to pay more, but I trusted them, and dropped the additional money and had to deal with the Groupon hat I could no longer refund since I missed the 24 hour window to return since they didn't get back to me online about scheduling. My car has at least 30k miles on it now. He sticker left inside the car says I will need an oil change at 8k miles, which is about 3k miles from what it reads now. Perhaps they were looking at the trip odometer. I paid for the synthetic, which I am under he understanding that it typically lasts a little longer. I was told I would be called when it was done. Typically they take 20-30 minutes. I walked back over about 75 minutes later to check and had not been called, but was told it was ready. I had to wait a couple minutes after leaving for the men to run around and move all the cars so that I could just leave already. Dirty fingerprints were all over the car wash I had gotten the day before. Skip the Groupon run around and the hassle and take your car elsewhere for an oil change with someone you trust who will call or email you. read more

I used to work at Northern Trust a few blocks away. I've dropped my car off here many times for routine maintenance. The prices are always correct; they never try to sell you services you don't need. It's hard to find mechanics like this. One time, they found a nail in my tire and fixed it for free! I work by O'Hare now and live in Edgewater, but still make all my appointments here. I get my routine oil change here. The online appointment app doesn't work well (less one star), but you can just call in. The people at the front and the mechanics are great. The parking location is a little difficult to find. It is located in the alleyway before the store. There is only metered parking. Definitely one of the best auto ppl around, I went there for a oil change and then for a leaky tire and they were very friendly and didn't try to sell extra stuff or were pushy with things. Even for the leaky tire they were able to fix it versus trying to sell me a new one. After just making it into Chicago after a 6 hour car trip from Minneapolis our car finally gave out. We were coming into the city as plumes of smoke started coming from the engine. Being from out of town I looked up the closest auto repair and it happened to Midas. It sits right on a busy road near an intersection that seems to constantly have heavy traffic. They only have parking in the back so its easy to miss the small ally way leading back to the parking your first time past. After managing to get the car parked we went in and were helped right away with no wait. We dropped the keys off and took to the streets while they figured out the problem. About an hour or so later they gave us a call and told us the radiator tube had completely come off and needed new clamps at the very least or also to replace the entire tube. We opted for the later because we wanted to ensure the car could make the return voyage back to Minneapolis. A short while later they were all done with the repair but allowed us to keep the car parked there the rest of the day as we explored the city. After picking up the car we noticed the engine seemed to be shaking the car slightly and the check engine light was on. We returned the next day to see if it had anything to do with the radiator tube repair. The mechanic pulled the car in immediately and ran a diagnostics test. The 8th cylinder in the engine block was malfunctioning which was completely un-related to the radiator (just our luck). Fortunately, we were not charged for any additional labor. They took the 8th cylinder out and found that coolant had spilled into it. They wiped it clean and the car worked great. They handed us back the keys for no charge, earning themselves 5 stars. read more

Very good service. I called on a Wednesday afternoon and explained my problem (needed a wheel alignment) and the service rep told me the hours available for the next day and I brought my Jeep the next day at 7:30AM and they started working on it right away. A service tech brought me into the garage once the Jeep was on the lift to explain my front tire situation. The alignment problem I had caused major problems with my two front tires so I ultimately needed to replace them. Within 30 minutes, the desk manager quoted me a price, gave me a time-estimate and I was off for a walk to work. The location is rather convenient, you can grab buses right in front of the store or walk to Clinton and get on the Blue Line. At 3:00PM, I received a phone call indicating my Jeep was ready. By 3:30, I was out the door and back on the road. All in all, I was very happy with the service. I felt like I was treated fairly, I feel like their prices are competitive, and everyone was very courteous, professional, and respectful (which are 3 characteristics I look for all the time with customer service). The waiting area had free Wi-Fi and free coffee so for the 30 minutes I waited for my estimate, I jumped on my laptop easily and was doing work for 30 minutes before leaving the store for the day. read more

I went once to this store for Tire change and the experiance was not bad. They did it in allocated time. So I decided to take my car again for the squeaky noise it made. The manager Jimmy gave an estimate of changing the windows mechanism for $1500. It was outragious and no way it could cost so much, it might be a motor that need to be changed as the windows wont scroll down. Later, he said that the car might need some parts ordered from Suzuki and will get back on pricing again. I called him about 5 times but never got an estimate. This by far has been an very bad experiance as the manager didnt get back to me and giving outrageous quotes. read more

I was able to wait at Starbucks next door and it took about hour and a half from the time I got there, which I didn't mind since I had no appointment. I was just grateful they were able to fix it. Waisted my time setting up appointment. Arrived at location only to be turned away because they were busy. Could not even leave the car there to be serviced later. Going thru the stupid online appointment process and not having capacity to service the appointment is pointless. In addition to this, the initial quotation and appointment process took 3 days. Talk about waisting time. You lost a potential $500+ initial business with potential repeat opportunity on top of what ever time your staff took the time to send me the quotation. I agree completley... I went there for a brake job... I was the only one waiting..and they were just standing around soo I figured it would be quick.. OH NO!! they had me wait 3 hours before they could look at it.. And I was pissed already.. they thought because I was a woman that I wouldnt know anything about cars.. and they told me that my back Calipers were broken and I need a whole new brake system..and It was goin to be over 1,000 $$.. I am not stupid...and I have had alot of shitty cars so I know alot about cars and I know that calpiers do not brake easily ...I had a bad feeling and the way they treated me was awful..I was arguing with 3 of them and Felt very out-numbered..I almost left in tears because they stressed me out soo much.. I walked back there to see what was taking so long and my tires and brake parts were scattered on the floor.. I said "where are the mechanics" and after 3 hours of waiting they were out to lunch in the middle of a job..I yelled at them to put the tires and brakes on.. I took it to my mechanic in Brookfield and he told me all I need was back brakes and rotors.. he charged me 200$ I think they have a scam working where they make you wait forever and they think you will just fold and give in to the price because you have been waiting soo long.. and they took advantage of me assuming I didnt know anything about cars.. Reviews were great, so I felt comfortable enough taking my car to get my brakes checked. I recently moved from Texas to Chicago and I guess people who worked at car service stations in Texas are a little more peppy. Midas opens at 7:30, so I promptly arrived at 7:25 and waited in the parking lot. Jimmy, the well-known manager, walked to me and my parked car and started giving me an attitude because I was sitting in his parking lot and didn't come to the front office. MY BAD JIM, thought you weren't open yet! Coffee was missing from his morning routine. No worries, Jimmy, you ended up helping me out a lot! Once coffee was served, I was escorted to my car and given an explanation of the proper tire rotation my mazdarati needed. Their honesty was greatly appreciated. Anyway... Got my brakes checked (which needed no repair), tires rotated, and my oil changed. Because they are a full auto service company, it takes 45-1hr to get your oil changed. read more
