The Midas team at this location is top-notch, to say the least. My car had a bad front axel, which was cracked and missing its seals. Michael (if I remember his name correctly) knew exactly what was wrong the second I mentioned the symptoms. I was given a prompt appointment for the next day, and the costs matched the estimate 100%. Pricimg was very fair! The Midas team had the issue fixed in a couple hours, and was great at explaining exactly what they had done. Very prompt and extremely courteous staff! Had a 10am appointment to get AC checked. After waiting almost 1.5 hours I decided to check the status of the car because I had been waiting outside around the corner the whole time. As I approached the shop I noticed my car was still sitting outside. When I asked the guy at the counter for an update he said they just pulled it in. Obviously they hadn't just pulled it in because it was still outside sitting in the exact location as I parked it. He then told me it would take another hour to have it looked at. Jennifer and Mike are GREAT! As with most car issues when it rains it pours and not only one thing needs attention. Came in for an oil change and light bulb replacement since a Midas closer to my house turned me away and Mike said to come back at 1 and they would get my car taken care of! Oil changed and lights replaced! A few weeks later my AC needed some attention and I brought it back in and service was all complete before 11am! Jennifer made sure that I was in the loop along the way with any slow downs and remembered me by name. If you need service this place is great and knows how to treat people right! read more

I just left and incredibly disappointed with the lack of integrity of this place. I took my jeep for a brake inspection, and older gentleman that helped me showed me the rotor and said all 4 needed to be replaced. He verbally quoted me $418 total for the work. I agreed. 2 hours later, after the work was completed, he had already left for the day. When it was time to pay, the young man at register told me the total was $911. My car got a flat tire over the weekend and I just moved to Citrus Heights in the past few weeks, so I found this place because it was close to my house and had decent reviews on here. I brought my car in yesterday around 4:45pm and they closed at 5:30pm, so they said they wouldn't be able to repair it until the next business day which I thought was reasonable because I brought it 45 min before closing. The service writer I dealt with was Dan. His customer service was average, wasn't nice or rude, just neutral. Yesterday, I waited and waited for a call, 3:45pm rolled around and I still haven't received a call from their shop about my tire repair, so I gave them a call to check in because typically every time I have had a tire patch repair in the past it has taken a hour on average, it's taken 3-4 hrs max. And when I called they said the tire was done and already repaired and that they had time to finish the tire swap yesterday. So I brought my car immediately and it was 330. And when I brought my car there was only 2-3 other customers there, it was not busy at all. This man called back at 4:53 and said they didn't have time to finish swapping the tire on. It just sat there for two hours. And I've put a tire on myself before it takes 10 mins at most!! But the fact that he said they couldn't finish my tire 40 mins before they were even closed, that's just laziness!!! I couldn't work anything else out, so I told Dan I needed my car last night. So he just gave me the car back with tire in my trunk and the spare still on. They were very sloppy they got white paint or chalk of some kind all over the tire from it being there and they didn't even clean it off at all. Because they didn't care to finish my tire I wasn't rushing to arrive quickly and when I arrived, it was the same service writer in the shop named Dan who I dealt with. He told me they were still charging me the full price of what it costs to do a patching service, and I didn't think it sounded right considering they took a day and half to do it and they were wanting to even keep it a second night but I didn't let them. They charged me $28 and some change, which is half the cost of a new tire. I had a patch job done on a tire that got a nail in it last year and it didn't cost anymore than $15 maybe $20 but $28 for a sloppy patch job that's unfinished with super rude customer service desk? Definitely not. I haven't ever had such a rude encounter at an auto shop before. I called my mom because she works at a ford dealership and the service writer started getting an attitude with my mother as well because she said it's not right to charge someone full price during a pandemic when they took too long and didn't even finish the work. Super unethical and unprofessional business practice. When we asked why he was still charging us full price he had a huge attitude and told us he doesn't make the prices, the owner does and that he was the only one there to speak with. Why are the mechanics going home early when they still don't have all their work done? Not to mention I am a front line worker, health care professional, and I need my car for transportation to my job and they just go home early?If I was tired at my job and someone came in for medical help, I couldn't just throw in the towel and say I'm calling it a day?? Seems a little weird to me. But I will definitely be reporting this shop to the BBB because this definitely felt like price gouging to me. Please don't waste your time coming here. Brought my 2003 Ranger in on a Thurs in early December of 2022 for a misfire code. They told me I needed new plugs and wires even though I informed them I already tried that. The guy said, " that's where they had to start." At this point I knew I was in trouble but had to have my truck for work so told them to go ahead. Got a call on Monday and was told that the plugs and wires didn't fix the problem but they diagnosed a manifold gasket leak of some kind with a smoke test and they needed to replace gaskets. No idea how that could cause a misfire but I said ok. At this point I'm at 1900 bucks to them plus a rental car. Finally on Tuesday I get a call saying the codes are gone and the truck is running good, just has some vibration but that's probably because it's old. Though worried about the "vibration," dropped of my rental and went to Midas to get my truck. Paid my 1900 dollar bill, fired up the engine and guess what, there's the misfire code and the truck was running like it did when I dropped it off. So after 5 days and lots of wasted money, I got my truck back with nothing fixed. Had my nephew follow me over to Scotty's and they diagnosed it and fixed it in one day. Turned out to be just a coil pack which is a simple diagnosis for any real auto repair shop. The Midas Method of diagnosis is throw parts at it and collect money until they fix it or you give up. Don't waste your time calling corporate to file a complaint either. Just a third party contractor who answers complaints and sends Midas a report. Then they have the same guy give you a call who took your money in the first place. He told me everything they did I needed anyway so he couldn't refund my money. I brought this Midas my wheels and new tires I bought on line to change (brought them in my pickup truck, they did not dismount my wheels). They called me 4 hours later saying they were having a "hard time uninstalling the old tires, because they are low profile". The tire size is 255/35r18, on an 18x9.5 wheel, nothing special about this tire size. Low profile? Sure, but I've never had an issue with anyone changing the tires on these at all. I have heard of issues when people run a crazy small sidewall (like 25), but 35 on an 18" is no big deal. After a few more hours, I called them as they were closing soon, they said they couldn't get the tires off. Fine, I drive down to pick them up and take them somewhere else and find that they have completely ruined one of my wheels. The face of it was completely scratched up. Not just the paint, there are multiple divots and grab points that clearly go DEEP into the aluminum of the wheel. I made great note of this, documented the 9 or so locations that damage occurred (clearly from someone trying to dismount the wheel upside down on the tire machine, I am familiar with the machinery). It has been over six weeks since the damage has happened, and I have been calling the location, their customer support and resolution center, made a complaint with their corporate office, and been in contact with their "resolution manager" with ZERO thought of a solution. They clearly have been trying to ignore me in hopes that I will forget about the damage. Constant excuses, they refuse to actually address the issue. The customer service is embarrassing here. I learned how to mount tires in high school, even low profile, because most modern cars have a pretty small sidewall. Don't go here, something as simple as a tire change will go terribly wrong. read more

So this review is an update of previous ones, after I realize that the shop changed hands and none of the people (or values/expertise) are there I've had 3 cars worth of favorable service: On 4/25 Saturday morning @ 8am, I took my 2015 Nissan Altima into the location in Fair Oaks, CA on Greenback Lane for an A/C service. I didnt know what was wrong and suggested maybe the AC needed to be recharged. I was reassured in the diagnostic that the problem would be detected. Prior to being called back, i called to check the status and a quote for a tune up. Once the diagnostic was done, Dan the manager called and said the ac needed to be recharged, and that i have the original spark plugs and suggested they be changed. After the supposed service was completed, I was reassured that the shop vent tested the AC and the spark plugs were replaced, it was ready to go. Once in the car, I noticed that the AC was not getting cool as expected. Prior to the issues this season, the AC would be ice cold to the point of being on for several minutes, would cool the interior significantly to where the lowest setting would be enough to maintain the cool temperature inside. That wasnt the case after being serviced at this Midas location. The AC was on a high fan and Max AC setting and not getting cool as it was capable of being, or has historically been. 2 days later, I called Dan about it who said that they vent tested it and it came back fine and to bring it back so they can check it out. I told him that I didnt feel comfortable with bringing it back to him since it wasnt fixed the first time. He said that he has qualified mechanics that do this for a living, and I cut him off saying that they should have been more intentional about seeking out the problem, and not just recharging it. He said bring it in so they can look at it and attempted to fast track the end of this phone exchange with pinpointing a time that day or soon to bring it in at no charge. I dismissed this, not comfortable with anything involving this shop. It also brought into question about whether they replaced the spark plugs on the supposed tune up they also listed on the invoice. I took my car to the Nissan Dealership on Auburn Blvd in Sacramento, CA on May 2nd @ 7:30am, a week to the day of taking my car to Midas, for a 2nd opinion. After I received the diagnostic call from them, they said that the AC compressor was leaking and needed to be replaced, there leaks from hoses that needed to be replaced and it totaled @$1900 dollars. I said that I had taken it to Midas the previous Saturday to check this problem, and the Nissan people said, they didnt look under the car otherwise they would have found the leak. With this revelation, it puts the integrity of Dan and his staff into question. I'm now not sure that is shop even changed my spark plugs or did the tuneup required for my car, after charging me $363+ dollars. read more

I was told that my breakline needed replacing and it was going to be costly by a different shop so I decided to bring it to Midas on Greenback. They were very busy but they asked me to bring it the next morning and leave it with them so I did. They called me later that day to informed me that the breakline was fine but was improperly installed so they corrected the issue by replacing a washer and a seal saving me over $70! The manager told me that they are family owned. I will now bring all my business there and have already refered my Parents because I trust their opinion. More people should yelp when they are happy instead only rating a great company when they are upset. The good will outweigh the bad so companies like this can get a fair shake! I purchased a set of 4 all weather tires that had the best warranty specifically so I did not have to worry about replacing them any time soon. In my naivety I failed to do their job and ask for road hazard. If a customer states that money is no object and they want the best so they have the peace of mind knowing they are covered. Instead I get a bolt in my new tires and they tell me I didn't purchase road hazard (was never mentioned or offered because of course I would have purchased it with a set of 4 new tires) and I am told it would cost me over $100 to order and replace the new tire. I have no problem taking our families business elsewhere as there are no shortages on car repair shops. Will never do business with any Midas location again. read more

Caught this business charging and invoicing for services they didn't provide!!! When I called out the owner on his crooked practices, he said he was gonna "knock my teeth out". After an exhausting conversation with the equivalent of a wall, I paid full price for services I did not receive and I left. It all started when I clicked on an ad for a tire rotation and oil change at Midas, I set an appointment and took my explorer in to get those services done. As I was paying for the services I discovered the tires had not been rotated and I brought it to their attention. At first, they said the tires were too bald, but when I insisted the manager verify the tires weren't bald (see pics), the business owner, Mike, changed his story and said tire rotations are "a discretionary service". I reminded them I had come in for a tire rotation service and they had invoiced me for doing a tire rotation. I also pointed out the ad says 'oil change and tire rotation' but they refused to complete the service or even offer discount for the failure to do the services they didn't do. I was told over and over the tire rotation is free and not 'part of' services offered in the ad, it was a free discretionary service (Btw - Midas charges over $20 for a tire rotation). Furthermore, when I asked why he was trying to charge me for services he haven't performed he threatened me. So I asked why he didn't just inform me that he wasn't going to do the tire rotation prior to doing the oil change.. and Mike said: "it doesn't matter, the tire rotation is a free service". He proceeded to tell me I was "pissing him off" and "I needed to leave his business". It was a ridiculous conversation that went in circles, he got caught red-handed and came up with every excuse in the book to cover. It seemed obvious this guy has gotten away with this for years and just didn't care. Filing a complaint with the state, contacting Midas Corp attorney, and emailing the media regarding the crooked business practices. By the way - I took my Explorer to a tire shop down the road and they rotated the tires for free when I told them the Midas story.. Update: I DM'ed and called into Midas to file a complaint. Didn't get a response from either. It's been 2 months. Formal complaint filed with state and BBB. read more

Automotive shops; finding a good one is not an easy task, and generally speaking just about every single one of them can have a hit miss record depending on who you talk to, but that is realistically true for all diagnosis based services, doctors included. So what really sets one shop aside from the rest? I mean, why would you go to one shop over another, prices being relatively equal? To me, two very important things come to mind: honesty and experienced staff that perform quality work, and the Midas on Greenback has both. I've been to this shop a few times and have only positive things to say about everyone there, from the management and admin staff to most importantly, the mechanics out in the bay. A while back I needed to do the rear brakes on my truck and replace an axle seal, I called them for a quote which was a normal sounding price, though unfortunately I just couldn't afford to have them do the work for me at the time. After having done the brakes and seal myself, I brought the truck to them to bleed the brakes and while in there doing their routine checks they noticed I had not adjusted my brake shoes properly, so the mechanic just did it and noted the issue, I wasn't charged extra for that, and a good honest shop wouldn't either. On another trip, I had a strange noise in my engine bay, kind of an odd whining sound. It turned out to be nothing, just a noisy power steering pump, but only because I was able to pull in and ask if a mechanic could listen to it and tell me what he thought. Over the years I'm sure you've had that weird noise come up, I know I have on other cars and more than once I've had a shop tell me they had to charge a diagnostic fee just to listen to it. But five minutes later here, my mind was at ease knowing I didn't have some expensive bearing ready for imminent failure. Why is this important to me, because they are friendly and will give you honest advice and service with a smile. Friendly, honest, knowledgable staff that are glad to help and do quality work at reasonable prices; I'm not sure what more you could ask for. read more

I'm various levels of disappointed in this place. First- I called over a week in advance to make an appointment for 2 vehicles to be done separately as my significant other and I both need varying levels of work done and this was our time window to get that done. When I called I stated exactly what I needed and they told me it was no problem and that I was in the books. Even made it for a Tuesday so as not to battle the weekend rush. I just needed an alignment, and he needed to have something in his suspension looked at and repaired. Day of we arrive just before they opened and were taken in as though we were walk ins, what's worse is they were ridiculously busy so we were left feeling pretty discarded. What's the point in having an appointment then?? The alignment on my pickup took about 2 and a half hours which is fine, but then it took them another 2 hours to even look at the other one. By the time they did the day was half over and they stated that they would be able to complete the work necessary on my spouse's vehicle before business close. At the time we at least had my pickup completed so no big deal. The rest of the day goes by, we arrived 5 minutes before 5 (closing time) not having received any updates. They had done his shocks and struts but sent him out without an alignment! They told him how it's only off by a bit and so he would be fine, just come back. The downside to that is day of the alignment is $40, as a standalone service its $69.99. I came to midas after having a multitude of bad shop experiences, honestly this adds to it. I dont think we will be back, probably won't return to any midas as a whole. read more

But still slightly sexiest jerks when being a female calling an auto repair shop and they not only assume you know nothing about cars but they can charge you whatever and you will pay it which is the largest mistake each shop continues to make including this one. The guy didn't even listen when I explained I had my own compressor and gave me a quote of $1300 which is higher than the dealership. I'm calling on a Monday before noon and the earliest you can get me in is Friday when I need my car to have air to get to the doctor because I'm disabled. After Pierre (Bbb) looked into the paperwork he found multiple errors on Midas part and it was covered up, I was blamed for them but installing a faulty water pump which blew the header. After 6 months I received a check for the car $3,400 after it was already sold for parts. Midas should NOT send me coupons for services at my current address 2 years later. STAY AWAY IF YOU LIKE DRIVING YOUR CAR; because it won't when you leave here. Their HR / corporate ignored the matter besides to half apologize and put me on hold until BBB stepped in; they even denied the check for a week because the accountant wasn't able to show up when the business opened for unexplained reasons. You should be able to trust your mechanics these people are fraud just holding your car with a bandaid til you're back in a week because something is else 'breaks.' Go anywhere else in the city; this company is garbage. read more

I took my vehicle here for a brake change Saturday. Have to admit at first I was pretty frustrated because I had a 9am "appointment" which I found out is just a scheduled drop off time. This meant it took longer than I had originally hoped because my van had to wait for a bay to open which took until after 1pm because of all the vehicles ahead of me. However..... The work they did on my brakes was well done and quite a bit cheaper than another shop for the same work. Also the shuttle service home was nice especially early on a Saturday. Lastly, they went above and beyond on communicating a fix for another problem i didn't know I had. This put them at a 4 because my van had literally just had an oil change and nothing was said about this. read more

Absolutely horrible. I have a Hummer H2 needing smogged for registration. First they told me about a half hour. After 15 minutes they told me now it's an hour because machine needed to be calibrated. First thing they do is pop hood and see that I have an after market intake. Which automatically fails the "visual" inspection. Instead of telling me I failed they go ahead and do the entire test anyway just to take my $$$ and told me it passed the smog test just not the visual. I just donated $40 to their corrupt unjust just plain bad business. I called 4 other random smog places 4/4 said don't pass don't pay. read more

This Midas location is chalk-full of mechanics who are lazy and do not know what they are doing. These mechanics will cut corners where they can. We brought in a car to have the transmission fluid changed and they didn't change an old o-ring which caused the car to lose vast amounts of transmission fluid. Dealing with this Midas is a nightmare, do NOT EVER take your car here, for they will mess up the most routine procedures. They didn't even know what kind of car I had even though it was sitting in their garage for two days, and for several days prior to that! I had a 9:30 appointment, and they were so busy that my car didn't get brought into the bay till 11:15. However, it's Saturday, and you have to expect that at a car repair place on a Saturday. They have a courtesy shuttle, and they took me home which was really nice. There were problems making the simple repair on my car, and they called me to inform me that my car wouldn't be done and would have to be kept till Monday. I was pretty disappointed, as I didn't know how I was going to get to work on Monday. Looking at rental car prices just made me more upset, and I was feeling pretty down. Well surprise surprise, I received a call at 5:30 letting me know that my car was ready and they would come pick me up. They did a great job and it drives like a dream! These are great people! They stayed after hours to fix my car and have it ready for me so I could go to work on Monday. read more

I hate giving only one star, when they have done decent mechanical work for us in the past...it's just that we've come to realize that it's been horribly overpriced. Our suspicions were aroused when Midas told our daughter that the minimum to make her car safely drivable was $1,200. She checked it out with Otis Automotive, who got it safely back on the road for just $200! Slowly, over the years, we saw repeatedly that the prices were inflated, so switched to Otis and Fair Oaks Automotive, (both which have been wonderful.) Recently, our car had to be towed on a weekend, and we thought our usual mechanics were closed, so we chanced Midas again, only to reconfirm their high prices by their estimate of $540 for an alternator. When we told them that the price is much less in online averages, they quickly claimed they had "made a mistake" and reduced our cost by $80. {OK, but what about the folks who don't point our their "mistake?"} We told them their price was STILL $120 more than our usual mechanics', (who had opened that weekend after all), and Midas said "Well, your mechanic must be doing the work at cost." Then, in an effort to keep our business, they explained that they are required to pay the Midas corporate office 15% of all they earn. Now THAT does explain some things. But we don't choose to pay for their corporate overhead OR their "mistakes." Sorry, Midas! read more
