Oil Change Service was excellent, They also did inspection of the vehicle I was told it needed some work done , Everyone said it was BS therefore I took it too the Jeep dealer for a four point inspection I didn't tell them about what was said I just use the year and mileage as a reason, I must say Midas was absolutely correct, And yes it good to get a second opinion through your car dealership with a four point inspection which is usually free through the dealership new or used . Do not recommend. Battery replaced 1/6/25 by Midas 98N location. Battery was completely dead 6 days later. I tried to jump start it as did the tow truck driver. The battery was completely dead despite several attempts. Towed car to my regular dealership ( thinking something bigger must be wrong). Vehicle was fine except for battery. Returned to Midas to get refund. No dice because I did not understand warranty replacement policy, which I accept. My complaint is that shop personnel insisted battery was fine ( after 1 minute test) and that three independent people don't know how to tell if a battery is bad ( me, tow driver and dealership where I had new battery installed). I had an excellent experience with this store at 7316 US 98 North in Lakeland, Fl. Went in for an oil change on my lightly used Miata. I know in Florida a battery lasts only about 4 years and it'd been 5. I was asked if I'd like that changed out with no pressure added to the request. A year ago my battery died on another vehicle and I knew I didn't want that to happen again. I very much appreciated the reminder and got the battery. Other helpful hints we appreciated, too. I recently brought my car in because of what sounded like a hole in my muffler. I made an appointment and walked in. There was a girl (don't remember her name) and a guy (probably the manager) and I think he told me his name was David. The girl at the front desk was a sweetheart and I think she was new. However, when I told her what I thought the problem is "David" jumps in from the peanut gallery and said, "how do you know it's the muffler?" It was smug and kinda caught me off guard. I was already a bit edgy that day and wasn't in the mood for attitude. Regardless, I kept my cool for now and just said, "I guess I don't, it just seems to make that similar noise, but I'm sure you'll be able to have a better story when you look at it." So they took it in and raised it up. Have you ever had that feeling the moment a team starts working on your car that you didn't trust them? Yeah, that's what I experienced here. The entire Midas team was unprofessional. Laughing and joking while 2-3 of them were looking at my undercarriage. One of the guys was even in my car while it was up in the air on the lift! I couldn't believe what I was seeing. To get down he actually hung on the side of my car and my door! I wish I had pictures to prove this. At this point, I was ready to go, but I was curious to see if my gut instinct was correct about the character of this place. Sure enough, David walks in and says, "It's not your muffler, dude". Okay what is it? He told me that I needed my manifold replaced, the cat. converter, and something with my cat. back exhaust. He rambled off so much that I actually don't know all he was trying to say I needed replaced to fix the problem, but the dollar signs were quickly racking up. Mind you, I went in because of a specific noise. This was his diagnosis of where it was coming from. That's very important when you get to the end of this story. I immediately got defensive in my mind. His approach seemed like he had to prove to me that I was wrong about the muffler and he would find everything else wrong with it, besides the muffler, just to prove a point that he's the expert. Important Sidebar: I already knew what the problem was. But I recently moved from Chicago. Before I left, my mechanic of 10 years told me that I needed my A/C compressor replaced before I took the trip to Florida. The only reason I brought up the muffler in the beginning is because I did think I got a hole in the muffler as well during the 1500 mile trip I recently took. I left the A/C compressor out of it because I felt they would find that problem when they looked at it. Instead, this guy was trying to get me to replace my entire exhaust and I knew it was never going to fix the problem. Either this place is the most incompetent place in Lakeland, or they literally scam their "walk in" customers. I nearly lost my temper while I made them drop my car from the lift and give me back my keys. To be fair with David, he's probably a nice guy. But after I drove away, he actually did call me and try to convince me to bring my car back so he could work on it. I thought that was hilarious. I don't think he realizes that I knew he was either trying to scam me, or didn't actually know what the problem was. But I wasn't about to take it back to explain to him that I already knew where the noise was coming from. I did take my car to a mechanic that my dad has been using and got the real problem fixed. But I will never step foot in this Midas again. If they're not dishonest, they'll just recklessly replace anything they think might be the problem and you'll pay a lot of money while accomplishing nothing. Be warned. read more

I went there to get an oil change and an inspection after driving several states. they were good at what they did and pointed out some things I need to get done on my car. I do appreciate that. The issue I have is they want to charge me $1100 to change my lower control arms on the front of my car. They were going to charge me $300 to $400 dollars per part; I bought both of the control arms for a 190.00 for both parts. I kind of got questions on the pricing when I changed the parts myself took me; two hours to switch out both parts without any of the fancy compressed air tools in the shop. read more

I lost my car when I was T-boned and recovered a 10 year old car that my wife gave to her sister 5 years ago. The sister put in gas and changed the wiper blades, not much else. Brought the car in and Kevin & Sam were there to hear my sad story. Unemployed because of the accident, I had a lot that needed done and not a lot of money to work with. The gents figured out what needed to be fixed, what could wait, and what I could do myself. I had three different technicians worked on three different aspects of the car. One piece was missing so the Midas shop owner jumped in his own truck to pick up the piece, saving hours until the regular scheduled delivery time. I needed new brake pads on all four wheels And disc's on the back. The technician said he would replace all four, but Kevin asked if I needed that, or if it was just good to have. Tech said I could live with what was on the front. No effort to sell a part that would only be good to have. Two times $80 that I did not need to spend, but would have because I'm not a car person. Trying to think of other things to say. The manager bought donuts for his team and offered me one. I mumbled that I had an errand to run and one of the guys took me to the Target just down the road. Tire light came on in my car so I went to Discount Tires because when I purchased my tires from them, they said that they came with service. But when I got there, the salesman were rude & wouldn't help me because fixing the flat wouldn't make them any money since it was included in the tire purchase . Since I couldn't go anywhere with a flat tire, I went to Midas across the street. Even though they were busy, they gave the flat tire a priority like other mechanics have done in my past. I had a negative experience when I brought my car to Midas of Lakeland. On Sep 19, I went to this store to make a balancing and alignment. It couldn't be done because they said that they need to replace the tire rods and the whole work will cost over $400. I said that I can replace the tire rod by myself and bring my car again to them for the balancing and alignment. But It looks that they didn't liked the idea and charged me $35.30 for only to check my car. Even that I am a customer that brought two cars for the same service in this year. They preferred to lose a good customer and charge $35 for nothing. read more

I made appointment Monday, told the lady I had a coupon for $25 off, she said that would work towards by bill. I show up Tuesday morning for my appointment time, Dave said the coupon couldn't be used, but there is a sign out front that says they beat any competitors price. So I left the car, and called other places for prices, since they didn't take my coupon. I found other places with way better prices, and when I went back to pick up car and told Dave this, he refused to grant what the sign clearly states. He told me there was no way other places had it that cheap with the prices sky rocketing. Long story short, I pay for my service and was told by Dave the owner would call me after I requested a call from him. He told me he spoke with the owner and it was his anniversary Tuesday so he would give me a call Wednesday. It is 4pm on Wednesday and I have heard nothing from him. I brought it back to show them and they continuously tried to tell me I was sold the wrong ones. I had a it looked at elsewhere they confirmed they were on wrong. Bought a heavy duty jack and did the work myself. Took a $480 loss but at least I'm driving around low and safe! Save yourself the headache, these are low level mechanics. Over the past couple months I have taken my Porsche Cayenne to the dealer and two other shops who just changed out parts but never found the real problem with my AC. David diagnosed the problem within minutes and got to work fixing it. After others replaced a tstat, water pump, blower motor and wiring costing me thousands, David had me sweat free in my car again, at a more reasonable cost. Bad business!!!! David will lie to you, he made me pay for work he said I didn't have to pay!!!!! Prior to handing them the keys. Im dealing with hardship so I chose to do my brakes and rotors myself. But the screw on the rotor was shaved in. I asked David if he could change the screw and I'll pay for that but I'll finish the job. He gave me a price and said bring the parts I'll do it. I replied again I can't afford to pay you to do the job. I just need that screw changed and I'll do the job, I'm hurting really bad.... He's says bring it in 8am the next day and I'll do it for free. I was so grateful!! Until i went to get my keys from the lady at the counter, he walks away and she tells me $135 some change. I explained I don't have to pay, david said he will do it for free? She just stared at me like a duck. I'm a single mother of 5, I work hard for mine. He obligated me to pay And the lady didn't bother to confirm with him what I was saying. In Order to get my keys back I paid from my mortgage funds that's due around the corner. So much for principal and integrity, I was a loyal customer to midas even after the new owner took over last year. I made an appointment to get an oil change which included a free full inspection and free tire rotation and the guys here found that my tires were torn on the inner sides and my alignment was messed up. It turns out that my tires were tilted inward which caused damages to the inside of my tires so I would have never seen it. I got my car serviced somewhere else last fall (so only about 6 months ago) and that service shop told me that my tires were fine and that I didn't need an alignment or a rotation. The guy who was helping me (I don't recall his name) was very informative and helpful. He walked me out to my car while it was lifted to show me all the damages and issues and explained everything to me. He also got me some discounts and coupons to use. I'm so glad I came to this Midas! Update/edit: the top part of my review was originally a 5 star review which I wrote when I was still at the shop but I feel the need to update this. After they started working on my new tires and alignment, I ended up waiting 3 extra hours for them to do it and the shop wasnt very busy. I only saw maybe 3 other people there who were in and out really quickly. During the 3 hours of waiting, I didnt receive any update on when my car would be done which was upsetting because I could see my car and see that no one was around it for probably about an hour. When I finally got my car back, I started it up and drove it out of their parking lot and when I tried to roll my window back up (because they left it down) my button wasn't working and when I looked at it, it was physically broken. It was pushed inward and obviously not how I had it when I brought it there. So I turned around and brought it back to the shop to talk to them and I told the guy what was happening and he then went to get another guy to look at it. And the second guy asked if this has happened before and I told him no and this was the first time and that it wasnt broken when I brought it in and all he told me was that he wasnt the one who started my car so he didn't do it. At this point, I'm already annoyed and the guy told me I would have to open it up and fix the switches on the inside which I don't know how to do and I wasnt gonna waste anymore time there. The guy ended up pushing the button further in and kind of to the side and for some reason that made my window go back up so he told me that's what I would have to do to get it to work now. That still didn't change the fact that one of their employees broke it, didn't fix it and didn't tell me about it. Ultimately the guys here are really nice and they did what they did what needed to be done and my car drives greater than it ever has before but the unexpected 3 hour wait without any updates and my now broken window button really sucks and will be an inconvenience for me. Then after inspection they took me outside and proceeded to tell me that they can do the toe problem but the camber and castor is " not going to be perfect because its hard to get to" and told me if i wanted it done perfectly it would cost me 119.99 otherwise he will get it as close as he can with what he got. i said im not looking for 100% because my truck is older and it will never be perfect just make it better. He said "no problem we can make it better". after the job was complete i received my paperwork i was shown the before and after numbers from the computer and the only numbers that had changed were the toes....... i proceeded to tell the lady behind the counter that nothing but the toes, which is one bolt on each side which i could have done myself, and she was lost and had to get someone else.....next gentlemen comes in and tries to give me the same talk as "look at the paperwork it shows it right here" but he is lost as well..... now comes BOB who was the tech outside that spoke with me to begin with.... Bob comes in and states to my face " i told him we cant do the cambers or castors without charging him 119.00" even though what he told me was it wont be perfect but we can get it closer.... NOTHING was done to them.... I took a vehicle there to get a muffler, and they put the wrong kind on. It sounded very loud unlike the original. When I took it back, the Mgr and shop guys looked at it. They said it was fine and even commented that I should turn my radio up so I wouldn't hear it. I took it to another dealer and they confirmed it was the wrong muffler. I got my oil changed a few months ago at this Midas shop. I paid over $60 for full synthetic. After my maintenance needed light came on, I checked my oil and it barely registered on the dipstick. Bear in mind that the maintenance needed light is based on conventional motor oil, which is around 4000 miles. I bought my own 5 quart jug of synthetic oil, a filter and changed it myself. The used oil was less than 2 quarts! My RAV4 does not have bad piston rings, does not burn oil. My girlfriend was apparently given non-synthetic oil there also. BEWARE! If you do use this service, I HIGHLY recommend checking your oil immediately afterwards. read more

Needed an oil change on my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Called and got a quote of $29.95 for a standard oil change. Drove there and when I started filling out the paperwork, I was told it would be $60 because they were required to use synthetic oil because that is what Hyundai recommended. Wasn't happy with that so I left. I called the Hyundai dealership where I've gotten my last few oil changes done and also where I bought the car. They said that not only is synthetic not necessary or recommended, but that the last 2 oil changes I had received (which were part of the deal when I bought the car) had been with standard oil. I also checked the owners manual which said nothing about synthetic oil. I will not return. read more

The guys here are very professional and nice. I have taken my car in for oil changes and serious work like replacing shocks and struts. I highly recommend Midas. They are fast at what they do. I like that they take you out to the car on the lift to show you what exactly is wrong. They have nothing to hide. I took my SUV in to get a terrible grinding sound from my breaks checked out. The owner told me I needed new front rotors, refinish my rear rotors, and brake pads on all four tires. I thought this was odd, because the previous owner replaced the pads 6 months earlier. I was then told this would cost me $680+tax, which is way out of my price range. I have done the brakes and rotors on privious vehicles I've owned, so this wasn't a big deal, and I picked up all the parts I needed from advance auto for under $100. When I took off my front driver side wheel, I saw that the rotor was low, but the pads look brand new, so I knew the sound wasn't coming from there. On the passanger is where it became clear. My brake pads were brand new, just like the other side, but my caliper was loose. After inspecting for about 10sec, I realized 1 of the 2 caliper bracket bolts was missing. This was causing my caliper to hit and grind the inside of my rim, causing the loud grinding sound. The proof was the giant ring of shinny ate up metal on my rim. This shop allowed me to leave their facility with my font caliper hanging on by one bolt, and did not tell me anything about it. When I called customer service, I received a very rude email from the owner of the north Lakeland shop, George Lapcik, calling me a liar and blaming the whole thing on me. I am now in a dispute with this shop with the Better Business Bureau, where Mr. Lapcik is still denying any wrong doing. If you value your safety and wallet, do not go here. read more
