Just got an oil change. They got me in rather quickly without an appointment. They also charged me a fair price rather than trying to rip me off like fullserv oil change in Downers grove was trying to do (74.99 for an oil change according to fullserv). They were more than half the price here and advised an oil change for my particular make/model car shouldn't ever cost that much. read more

I will not be going back to them. I took my ION there a few days ago for an oil change - dropped my car off, left to run some errands with my husband, and waited for the call for my car to be done. The guys from Midas called me and told me that they found a serious issue with my car. Apparently it was "leaking gasoline" and my fuel filter was "saturated" with fuel. They told me they could replace the filter for me for $90-something and that when they do that they may find there is a leak in a fuel line. I told them I just had both fuel lines replaced less than a year ago, so no way was there a leak. I told them I just want the oil change and that I would take it to my mechanic. When I picked it up, they told me it was very serious and that I shouldn't drive my car and to be very careful. Well, we dropped my car off with my mechanic that evening, and after having to take my husband's car to work the next day, I got a call from my mechanic that he ran my car for more than 45 minutes and it was completely dry. No leaks. The filter was just fine. The fuel lines still looked great. So THANK YOU, Midas, for wasting my time, my husband's time, and my mechanic's time. These guys clearly just wanted to sell me on a part that I didn't need, thinking that I was just a young, silly woman who doesn't know any better and would just agree to have them fix a problem that wasn't even there. read more

I only go to Midas because of their free brake pad replacement program. But I set up an appointment for an oil change and was quoted $109 for a VW. Who in their right mind would think to charge that? NEVER going here again!! read more

We have taken 4 cars over ten years and always had great service and piece of mind when we walked out the door. Great customer service and quick turn around on our vehicles. We have gotten a few other services including oil changes, fluid flush and pricing has been reasonable. Recommend them to anyone. read more

Dealing with Midas makes me even angrier with my previous mechanic. I started shopping around after my old place gave me a ridiculously expensive quote after barely looking at my car. Its an old, super crappy, crapmobile and I needed work done to pass an emissions test. I became fed up with the old garage and stopped into Midas as it's close to my work. They gave my car a thorough diagnostic evaluation, found several things I already knew about and a few I didn't. They were open and straight forward about communicating with me, explaining what they found, making recommendations, and walking me through what needed fixing for the emissions test. Ultimately, it was less then $200 in repairs, and the emission issue came down to a tiny crappy wire that cost me very little to replace. They also managed to find and correct and overfill from my last oil change, done at the old garage, to which I will never be returning. As long as this shop continues to provide me with straightforward and easy service, I will use them for all my car issues. read more

They saved me $600! The dealer said I needed a whole new exhaust months ago, and said it would cost me $800. I made an appt. at Midas, and their technicians promptly told me I just needed a new muffler, which came with a rebate. (under $200) I will be going back for all my car needs- they were honest!! read more

Bought muffler for $1200.00 and it sounds like the old muffler. Stopped in and they wanted to up sell me to the original parts for $900.00 more. Learned my lesson. Just go to the dealership. At least it will be done right. read more

Provided estimate for work I didn't need - which I found out after I went to an honest shop and saved $400.

I called a few establishments, including another Midas about 40 minutes away, prior to coming. I was given estimates for worst case scenario, replacement of pads and rotors. Mike gave me a phone estimate and told there were also 2 possible rebates. I came in and was told that I needed pads all around and rotors could be machined. Interestingly, the new estimate was only $20 less than what this location gave, by phone, me for replacing rotors and brakes. It was also nearly $180 more than what another Midas location quoted for the same service. I mentioned these details to Mike and he went into salesman mode, telling me that what the other location told me wasn't true and "no body can estimate these things by phone". I'm thinking, why do they offer estimates on their website and give them by phone! Furthermore, I read the rebate and coupon in store and the rebate only applies to purchases with a Midas card. As I sat, waiting for my vehicle, I heard the other guy on the phone quoting someone, almost the same amount I was given by phone, mentioning the rebate. I can't say if they were a repeat customer and had a card but he never mentioned that the rebate only applied to Midas card purchases. Seems to me that's a ploy to get people in, thinking they'll save when they won't or to get them to obtain a Midas card. By the way, the dealer only charges $17 more for the same services! The of the warranty will be shorter but I've never heard of Midas charging, nearly the same amount. I told Mike that I may as well pay the extra $20 and get the rotors replaced. He then tried to make it seem that it would be a lot more to do so and adamantly stated that I don't need them. I expressed issues with dealer pads, which had been replaced numerous times, as well as a recalled part that had been preventing the brakes from totally releasing. I stressed that I didn't wish to invest in the most expensive breaks because I will barely drive this car in a few months and might even get rid of it. I also stated, to the other gentleman that I like to keep my old pads and request to keep them when replaced. I got home and searched and the pads were not in the car. Everyone else I spoke with had the same price for the fronts and the rears but I just reviewed itemized charges and realized he charged me more for the rear pads. I'm guessing it's because they were "almost at the end of their useful life" What? If new pads are used, what does the wear on the old pads have to do with the price of the new ones? I've never seen or heard of that. Every establishment, including the other Midas and dealer, quoted the same price for front and rear pads, not more for 1 or the other. As I drove home I heard somewhat of a dragging sound. I called in and the guy, who answered, claimed there's always noise at first but it will go away in a day or 2. That's another new one. I've had Midas breaks in the past and never heard a dragging sound, immediately afterwards. I haven't experienced that with any brake service in the past. I went into this location with my car grinding, feeling very unsafe. Had I just decided to take a chance and go elsewhere after the estimate changed in person, I might of had a different outcome or gotten better results. I should've been suspicious of the fact that there was only 1 car there when I arrived and people were easily coming in and out. It's an expensive lesson learned! Needless to say, that was my 1st and last time at this Midas. I will never again visit this or any of the Naperville, Plainfield, or Bolingbrook locations, under this franchise. read more

First and last time here...I only went for an oil change and tire rotation with a coupon. At only 37k they wanna tell me i need new tires when I've rotated them religiously. Then they wouldn't do the tire rotation included in my coupon because I just need new tires. They should have said something before because then I'm just getting an oil change and could have gotten it cheaper somewhere else and I won't pay over $600 for tires here! Next time I'll go across the street to NTB they are only $19.99 for this without a coupon. read more

I'm not sure I will go back. I asked for a couple of things to be done and then I receive a call advising me they found several things wrong that I needed replaced and/or fixed. They even advised they would save the one specific part to show me, all fine, but the part they showed me clearly did not need to be replaced. I was also advised my battery needed replaced, which I had just done a year ago, at that point I cut the serviceman off and said, "I picked your establishment as you are known for doing what is asked without trying to sell and replace everything else," his tone immediately changed and suddenly I didn't need a new battery. Hmm.... I'm not a mechanic but I'm certainly not an a pushover. Last but not least my car was trashed on the inside from the oil and such from the mechanic(s). I have tan leather interior and carpet is tan, so you can image how obvious it was to see. So disappointed. read more
