I had my 2006 Subaru Outback into this Midas, they did diagnostics and ended up saying all 4 wheel bearings were bad, and the transmission had a problem, and recommended his friends transmission shop, and recommended me to NOT go to the Subaru dealer next door. Thinking this through and needing a second opinion I went to the Subaru dealer. I ended up having 2 wheel bearings replaced, and no transmission problem. Hmmmmm........ read more

I really am pleased with the owners. They visit us from time to time here in Central Oregon, I own a 1969 ford F-100 that has a transmission that needs to be replaced; every time Doug & his wife Ditna saw the truck they kept saying one of these days "I'm going to come up here with the shop truck & put it on the trailer then haul it to our shop & fix it" They have it at their shop & I had not ever asked about getting it fixed; so long story short they picked it up, hauled it to their shop & are having it fixed for me. I never asked them to do it for me, but I am very happy that it is being fixed by such awesome mechanics. I was also told "when it gets back here you get to drive it off of the trailer". I do like MIDAS overall however this local owner is a little greedy/rip off. I would avoid this place.

So we were on our way to Mendocino from Seattle and I noticed some vibration in the brakes while driving thru the Siskiyou Mtns. We stopped in Redding overnight and I thought I better deal with this before tackling the windy Hwy 20 from Willits to Ft. Bragg. Called Doug in the morning and only wanted the pads replaced because I wanted to get back on the road. After Doug told me it would only take a few hours (it took less), he convinced me to have the rotors turned for a proper job. While inspecting all 4 tires, Charles discovered one tire that had nails in them and another with nails and an illegal tire plug (from the Honda dealer, where I got the tires). They dismounted both tires from the wheels, pulled the nails and fixed the illegal plug with a proper vulcanized process that would eliminate any possibility of it popping out, which could have happened with the illegal plug. Both tires were remounted and installed and I was only charged for fixing the plug. Even with the extra tire work I was out of there in 2 hours. Talk about excellent customer service. Doug and his crew run a particularly good business. Really, one of the best experiences I've had for an auto service company. 5 star rating from me. read more

Had a full brake job done on my Toyota. I paid for replacement of a leaking rear seal, new discs, rotors, etc... the full package you might say. When I picked up the car one of the locking lug nuts had been shattered. It looked like the mechanic had used an air wrench to seat the nut, a definite no-no. The manager handled it and replaced all the locking lug nuts, hence two stars. Several weeks later the brakes started surging upon application. Car went back to Midas for a full inspection. Car returned the next day. Supposedly the rear brakes required adjustment. Since the brakes worked fine for three weeks I'm sure that's all it was. Then the surging returned. After six months of this I took the car to Metric Motors in Anderson. They did another full brake job. Seems there are two axle seals in a Toyota 4Runner. If you only replace one, then it's a matter of time before it starts leaking again. Hence the surging problem as one side had been leaking gear oil on the rear brake drum (Which had been the cause of the original problem). worse experience I have ever had in the repair business, I had to have three major fixes on one of my company trucks, that they said that each one was caused by the other. The reason i stuck with these people is they came highly recommended by someone I trust. When the third repair was completed I asked for a week of drive time and then I would pay. the owner Doug demanded payment, this after I had already wrote checks for previous repairs. So I wrote him the check and got my truck...I stopped payment on the check...he then called his lawyer, I could not believe it, he knew I had every intention of paying AND YOU CALL YOUR LAWYER. I was not going to pay his lawyer fees but my wife who is easily upset demanded that we do so. So folks be forewarned of this shop. just an aside, I give all my commercial accounts 30 days to pay, I could not get 1 week from these people. Really great experience all around. They were incredibly straightforward and honest about what they would provide and what I did/didn't need in my brake job. The lifetime warranty and Midas name are nice, but the best part was the service, quality, and friendliness that they offered. I was in town for the weekend and they were able to provide quick brake replacement and better customer service than any auto repair/maintenance provider I've found down here in the Bay Area. I took my 2017 vehicle in for a simple oil change today. As soon as I drove off I noticed the tire pressure light come on. I called in and asked if I could re-set it, since Doug had informed me that they had added air to the tires, I assumed the light just needed to be re-set. He said to bring it back by to re-check the air pressure. I complied. He informed me that this shouldn't have happened and that, again, the air pressure was good and they walked off. I again asked how to get the light off. He did not know and looked it up online. He made a few comments about how normally this should not happen and eluded to how it wasn't their problem but he will see what he can do. He sat in my car and turned the key forward, pushing all the buttons in an attempt to figure out how to get the light off. After sometime, I let him know that I'd just contact the Honda dealer and figure this out myself and thanked him. I then got in my car and it wouldn't start!! I have never experienced such a thing. I purchased my car new and I've had it two years, no problems. I simply needed a maintenance oil change. I was understandbly upset in my opinion and he was so rude, he accepted zero responsibility and refused to be accountable for the issues that arose due to the service. As a matter of fact, when I got into my car to leave, he slammed my door shut and said nothing. I am left having no idea if my car will start, a light that is still on, and no clue as to what may have happened to my vehicle. I have every intent of contacting the better business bureau. read more

Be careful of this place! I took my car in with overheating/antifreeze smell problems. I PAID for the diagnosis test which will tell me what the problem is. I got a call with a $1200 price tag on it to fix it and Doug explained that it was the water pump and would require replacing the timing belt as well. He assured me that they did a through, slow test, (his exact words), to ensure it was NOT my head gasket. My husband preformed all the work (being a mechanic we just didn't have the pressure and carbon test they use to tell us where the leak is or if is a head gasket). We traveled to the coast only to run into overheating problems again. I called Doug at Midas and he was pissed my husband did the work, and said he suggest pouring bars leak into the radiator! He said he wouldn't do any more tests for us if were getting the job done somewhere else. Even had the exact part number he uses and buys for Bars Leak and quote "on 80% of the cars that come in with a antifreeze problem we use Bars Leak". Honestly, I think if we would of gotten the work on the water pump done there he would of just used bars leak and charged us 1200! DO NOT GO TO MIDAS! I have since taken it to another shop in Redding, and within 20 minutes they told us it was a blown head gasket! Eeek, wish we would of know that from the beginning before we already preformed all the other work. read more

I pulled off the highway after my check engine light went on again. I had just had my catalytic converter changed in Oregon and was less than pleased. Doug was able to quickly diagnose my issue, gave props to my previous mechanic, showed me the part that was broken and gave me a fair price. He really took the time out to explain everything and answered all my questions (I had a lot). He even called to make sure I made it home safely! Customer service from this group was first class. I'd been needing new pads and rotors for a few weeks, just hadn't had time to get it done. I called Midas and spoke with Doug, he was friendly and accommodating. I dropped my truck off, and he'd called me an hour later to give me the rundown on what his inspection found. When I picked my truck up a few hours later, I was more than pleased with the job. My husband told me to make appointment he thought I needed a whole new system after walking through the problems with Doug he said no I should do diagnostic test on car he sounded like something else.
