Took my dad's car in for a popping noise. They said other things that were wrong with the car, which I'm not sure if there was anything actually wrong with his car to begin with. Midas said that the rotaries were put in crooked; however, when I talked to a mechanic friend and another automotive repair place they both said that wasn't possible. When my dad picked up his car we could still hear the popping noise. My sister called and asked if someone could take a ride with my dad to see if they could hear the sound as well. The person from Midas that rode with my dad said it was probably the suspension but we basically needed to make another appointment and pay Midas again to look at it even though that was what we originally paid them to do in the first place. Don't bring your car to Midas unless you want to be cheated out of your money! read more

Insanely overpriced and always recommends work that isn't needed, even comical to suggest, though they do it with a straight face every time. Me: I just need the front brake pads replaced please. Midas: ok, well it looks like you need to grind your rotors, install new calipers, change your fluid, bleed the system, possibly install new rotors (and the back ones while we're at it), and all sorts of things wrong that need to be "fixed". No, I try to say, I just had another mechanic look at it and all that is fine, just need the brake pads, like I said. read more

From the photos they texted me, to the brake repair they completed on my car while I was at work, to the honesty and integrity of the owner Doug. It was an experience worth raving about. Called today for a quote on an oil change and was treated like crap very rude by the owner. Was told I was being rude trying to get an exact price. I'm on disability and was just trying to make sure I had enough to pay. I'm going to let everyone I know what kind of what kind of horrible service just on the phone. They were super helpful, and made me an appointment about an hour after I called. I got my front brakes replaced, and they told me that by the end of the year, I'd need new back ones... About 5 months later, they were squeaking, and I went right back in, and got an appointment within an hour. Both times, they were very nice and did a great job. I have had my front brakes for 6 months with no issues at all. The brakes also come with a lifetime warranty, so if they need to be replaced, they'll do it. I feel it was a great deal. read more

You couldn't pay me five thousand dollars to take any car to this shop. A few years ago my wife got a coupon out of the yellow pages and went to this place for a simple oil change and they fought her over the coupon, they did more than they were contracted to do, and then, when I got involved I found out they had left some lugs loose and one was completely missing!! When I took the wheel hub to them and confronted them on the damaged lug bolt and missing lug nut, the owner took the hub in the back and took a chop saw to the back of the bolt grinding into back of the hub AND enlarging the lug hole in the process. The proper thing to do was to use a press to push out the damaged bolt, but this guy was just a jerk. It was all I could do to NOT cause a scene. Since then, I make it a point to steer everybody clear of this place, at least until it changes ownership. Consider yourself warned. read more

As my wife and I were driving south on the 5 on our way down from Shasta, the brakes on my F-250 failed completely, just as we were on a 6% grade. We were driving back from Washington, on our way down to San Diego. We stopped in at the closest repair shop we could find, and we immediately knew we were in good hands. The service was prompt and direct, and they gave me a good idea of what needed to be fixed. With no appointment at all, they had my truck fixed in less than 24 hours, and for a very reasonable price. She has said only good things about her experiences there, so I decided to have them take a look at a noise I had in my Toyota. I met Charles, Doug and Ditna when I dropped my car off and was very impressed with their customer service. The owner of this establishment is extremely rude and doesn't deserve customers. I say this because my husband noticed he had a flat while driving on i5, cautiously took the first exit off of the freeway and noticing the tires stacked up drove into Midas. The owner came out and my husband described his predicament to him which in turn the owner told my husband to get his truck of the lot immediately as he didn't have time to fix his flat. Which is fine he didn't have time but my husband asked if he could use his jack as his tire was completely flat at that point. The owner continued to yell at him then told him to back his truck up as one of his guys would air up his tire so he would leave his lot. I understand that they were busy and probably didn't have time but there is no excuse to treat potential customers in this way. We will never be back and we'll definitely never ever refer anyone to them. read more

Doug always takes good care of both of our cars. After Jiffy Lube repeatedly told us we needed premium oil for our engine (after removing all the oil already so we couldn't leave!) we found out that that was completely false. We have been loyal Midas customers ever since. They always get done long before their estimated work time, and are friendly. We get our tires, brakes and oil done from them each time. I have priced out all these services, and Doug will beat it each time. I usually have my two small sons with me, and they are considerate to be quick so we can get out of there. They may not honor national Midas coupons, but I appreciate that they are locally owned and operated. read more

We had the best experience at this Midas location! On a up to Oregon, our "check engine" light came on. The car had been recently purchased (used) and we had not yet road tested it, although it had checked out great with a pre-purchase safety check. We decided to stop for the night and have it checked in the morning. After checking the error code at Auto Zone, we contacted Midas to see if they could take our car in right away for a repair. Doug was very helpful, asking the necessary questions to evaluate our situation, and agreed to check the car out. Taking our car in immediately, Doug replaced the very worn spark plugs and did a diagnostic check of the ignition coils, to determine if the car still had any misfire error codes. After just an hour, we were back on the road and on our way! Doug was professional, helpful, and very thorough. He even called us hours later to check that the car was running well and that we were progressing along safely on our trip! Even though this was an unexpected expense, we felt that it was reasonable and fair and the immediate attention given was greatly appreciated. Thank you Doug! read more

Our granddaughter is going to school 150 mi. from us in Redding. Last week, she hit something in the road that messed up her radiator and A/C condenser. It's a older car, and not worth much, but replacement of the entire car would have been time consuming and expensive. My boyfriend was treated very poorly here. They refused to do an oil change because his oil was to low. Now we don't know much about cars and that might be the correct thing to do but being rude to your customers and making them feel uncomfortable because they didn't know is not okay! Doug refused service to us because of a belt that he thought was going to go out soon. He felt like it was a liability to change the oil because the belt was well worn, which is ridiculous. All we wanted was for them to change our oil, but they wouldn't even do that. A belt and oil impact each other in the slightest. He treated us like we were two-two year olds who knew nothing about cars and it came across very disrespectful and condescending. Horrible customer service. Won't be coming back here EVER. read more

Midas is the worst place to take a car to get anything done. I had brakes done had to they after just three months later we called and then they told us they put the cheapest brakes on my car. You shouldn't put such cheap brakes on it. I have never had that ever happen, we don't make much money so they screwed us. They are the worst company to do any business with. I will never ever bring my car back to them. I will always tell everyone I know that they are the worst place if they read this screw you. I will go to another place. The jerks also told we had to do 100 miles of driving and stopping to brake the brakes in. I have never ever hear of that they also lied about that too. I am extremely shocked to see such good reviews come from people from Midas in Redding I went there for a brake job because a family member said you should try them cuz they have a lifetime warranty on their brakes so I dropped it off a couple hours later I get a call from the owner stating that it was going to be $1, 800 cuz there was numerous things wrong with my car told him there's no way I could afford that I was anticipating about 200 because that's what big'o had quoted me he got it down to 1100 I said forget it and came and got my car took it over to Big O Tires and it was less than $200 to get my brake job done. I have always got my car serviced at Big O Tires because they're trustworthy and have experience mechanics there and should never have ventured out I've learned my lesson. I talked to a friend of mine went through the same thing with Midas here in Redding and was surprised to see that he was still quoting such extremely high prices for repairs. Yes he explains things perfectly but after big'o had checked my car there was absolutely nothing else wrong except it needing a brake job. My advice is always get a second opinion or quote before paying outrageous amounts to have your car repaired. read more

I AM AMAZED. Thats all i can say. This place is a total joke that lightened my wallet by over three hundred dollars. I supplied ALL of my own parts as well as fluids for a brake job on my Mercedes. When I got home and applied the parking brake it went to the floor. Then I called the owner of the shop and he explained that the e brake is a "HUGE" job and is a seperate system. While this may not sound bad my quote was for around half of what the cost actually was. I will go in tomorrow for an expaination of my bill as I was there waiting from 2:55 pm til about 6 pm, was cold and tired of waiting in their waiting room. I had my front breaks changed by this Midas shop and was told at that time that my back breaks needed replaced. A week or so after the front break job the squealing was back and I decided to find a cheaper place to have the back ones done. I took it to the Toyota dealer and was told they do not need to be replaced and that they are rated from a 5 (excellent) to a 1 (needs replaced) mine was a "4". I called the Midas shop and talked to the owner who in turn called the Toyota dealer saying that they did need changed. The toyota dealer checked them again (at not cost to me) and again would not change them because they did not need it. So beware on the work they say you need, get a second opinion. I had the Toyota dealer do a new front break job for me. The reason I went to them in the first place is because back in 09 I had them change my front breaks and purchance a special they had giving me new brake pads as long as I own the car. So my first trip in there this year with squealing breaks he said I did not need a break job but the break lines were dirty so I had them do that job. Then a week or so later the squealing was back and I went back in and had the break job done. I feel this was just a way for them to get there money for the "FREE" brake pads I was supposed to get. I am usually skeptical about chain auto shops as sometimes they offer services you really do not need like "jiffy lube" We went here because my right wheel berring was making a bump sound on it after driving through a bunch of gravel roads which shaked the car a lot. Unfortunately, we did not know any mechanic around and someone suggest Midas, so we scheduled an appointment at 8:30am. They inspected our car for $30 dollars and they found the problem was the wheel berring. The quote was $445 dollars which is quite a high, but it is what it is at this point and as long as the sound goes away it would be worth the money. We were about to walk away, but Doug the owner convinced us that we are risking a lot and was quite concern, so we decided to give it a shot. The lead mechanic was great as he did his job and actually went to my car and showed me the problem as well. Anyways we were happy it got fixed and within an hour and a half, the car was done and there was no delay. The problem was fixed. I would definitely go back here again if only I lived in Redding :) read more

The customer service here is absolutely fantastic. They really know how to make you feel right at home and like you are in good hands. I was just passing through town the night before and had heard the unmistakable sound of my brake pads wearing down my rotor. The next morning, I frantically called around town but nobody could do anything until after Christmas. Finally I called Midas as my last call before giving up and accepting I'd be spending Christmas away from home in a motel and, what luck! Not only could they get me in on the same day but they were just so friendly and welcoming. I asked if there were any coffee shops nearby I could walk to as I had my dog with me and wasn't sure if bringing her indoors was acceptable or not. He happily informed me that their lobby was a nice, warm, dry place that was dog friendly. He even remembered speaking with me when I came in later and asked where my dog was as I had left her in the car briefly to make sure it was still okay to have her. I will be forever grateful to the owner of this location and to Midas for encouraging above and beyond customer service. They'll probably never quite know what it meant to me to be able to have my car serviced so I didn't have to spend Christmas without family in an unfamiliar place. It really truly means everything and more companies could learn from this place. If I lived here, my business would be 100% loyal to this store. Period. You won't regret it! read more
