Stop here for any car needs! As a lady that knows nothing about cars I feel that a lot of the time places try to take advantage and sell me things I don't need but not here!!! Long story short I was sold a battery I probably didn't need at an autozone and then told to go to another shop to diagnosis an alternator problem. I did that and my alternator checked out fine, all I needed as a new key fob battery. I felt like I was being taken advantage of. So I called Midas in midtown and told them I needed an oil change but also my battery and alternator checked. I made an appointment and came in, everything was done within and hour. They told me I had a good battery and alternator that was working fine. I explained what had happened with the other two shops and they told me I would be able to get all my money wasted back, and told me the steps to take. I can't thank Shawn (owner) and Nick (manager I believe) enough they were so kind and helpful and not there to sell me something I didn't need. I was told that two of my tires need to be replaced and showed how they could tell. But they just emailed me a quote and didn't pressure me to do it that day. Again that are awesome!! read more

I had a VW Jetta that was dying. When I brought it in, I was told that it needed a new alternator in order to diagnose the other problems. New alternator went in, then the remaining repairs were diagnosed. Way more than the car was worth. I appreciated Brian's assessment of the situation (Not worth fixing), and he didn't pressure me to get work done. I asked if I could return the alternator. Brian explained that the cost of labor in removing the alternator would be more than the part was worth. He did suggest that if I removed it myself, they would check its condition and return it if they could. So I spent an afternoon with a friend removing the alternator. I brought it in and Brian and Shawn were able to refund me the cost of the part. I appreciated their advice and cooperation, and their honesty and sympathy over not wanting to waste money on a car that was too far gone. read more

Ended up going to America's Tire, who didn't have a problem with the repairability or the wear on my tires. What a horrendous company to work with! The technicians simply can't install brakes correctly, supervisors aren't capable of making decisions on their own, and the owner is rude and has horrible customer service. We had our rotors machined and new brakes installed at Midas Sacramento. After a few months they were making a loud noise. Upon returning to Midas Sacramento to have them inspected, Midas checked their own work, insisted that nothing was wrong with the brakes and claimed it must be something else. Feeling strongly that the brakes were the issue, we took our SUV to a 3rd party mechanic for inspection who determined that the brakes were, in fact, installed incorrectly. There is a specific inside pad and specific outside pad, however both inside pads were installed on one side of the vehicle and both outside pads were installed on the other side of the vehicle. As a result of the forced installation, the rotors needed to be repaired as well. When we called the owner at Midas Sacramento with this information, he insisted this isn't possible because both brake pads are the same, that there are mounting clips that prevent such backwards installations from occurring and he implied our 3rd party mechanic didn't know what he was talking about. He insisted that their evaluation was correct and that there must be another cause. Despite the arrogance of the owner and the lack of trying to identify the issue, we still attempted to work with Sacramento and return for another evaluation. After multiple unsuccessful attempts because they were too busy to fit us in or didn't have a transportation vehicle available when we arrived, we decided we would continue with Midas in Elk Grove. When Sacramento found out that we wouldn't change our work schedule to accommodate their schedule, they asked why not (which wasn't any of their business) and they accused us of not taking it serious enough to be of concern. We informed Midas Elk Grove the brakes were making noise, but wanted an independent evaluation so we didn't tell them why we believed it was making the noise. Upon inspection, Elk Grove also determined that the brake pads were specific to the inside and outside and they were installed incorrectly. Elk Grove even went out of their way to order an additional set of pads to confirm. Upon the inspection results from Elk Grove, which matched the finding of the 3rd party mechanic, we called back Sacramento to get the repairs authorized. The supervisor on duty would not authorize the repair or payment to Elk Grove, denied that it was possible to install them backwards, could not come up with a solution to fix the problem and the owner would not return our calls. To avoid duplicate out of pocket expense from Elk Grove, we had to return the brakes to the original "defective" condition. At this point the Midas Elk Grove owner was doing absolutely everything he could to get authorization of the repair, but Sacramento simply would not respond to him. When Elk Grove did finally receive a response, they were offered a measly $40 for their service if they replaced our brakes. Where Sacramento really became shady is when we received an unsolicited call from Midas Arden offering to repair the issue at no charge. Neither us nor Elk Grove contacted Arden yet they had our personal number and said they would make the necessary corrections at no charge. Yet they didn't know what the required changes were. Infuriated that Sacramento would not work with Elk Grove or us, at this point we accused Sacramento to be working with Arden and that Ardens findings would likely just match what Sacramento told them to find. We then informed Sacramento that they may (a) fully refund us, (b) authorize Elk Grove to make the repair no charge to us, or (c) that we will be meeting in court to resolve the issue. Following this point, we no longer heard back from the Sacramento owner. At no fault to Elk Grove who did everything in their power to get authorization to repair the work, they could not get a response and it put the repair on hold. It was at this point that we continuously called the Customer Service line who admitted they had no course of action, no direct phone numbers to contact management and that they were simply a call center. After much convincing, the call center final gave up a phone number to the Customer Relations Department at the Midas Headquarters. Upon contacting the Midas Headquarters, they were shocked to hear the story, apologetic for the lack of customer service provided by Sacramento and they too attempted to contact the District Manager. Hours after no response from the District Manager, the Midas Headquarters made the executive decision to replace our brakes at the location of our choice at no charge to us. We arranged for Elk Grove to make the repair, they got us in quickly without issue, they replaced our brakes and re-machined our rotors without delay and we have not had an issue since. read more

Went in for routine maintenance once I hit the 150k mark. It was 75 before tax for an oil change and engine filter replacement, it took a total of about 2 hours and the entire time the guys working there were in a good mood and super chill. About 1/3rd of the price compared to a Certified Toyota Service Center, and it took about 1/2 the time. I will absolutely be taking my business back to this place. read more

When it comes to car repair, I always think of the worst case scenario and often times don't trust mechanics. Mark and his staff were more than happy to help me on a Saturday. I was off from work on a weekday and thought it would be a good time to have my brakes inspected. I drove by my actual mechanics shop on 16th and W but it looked packed with nowhere to park. On my way home I saw Midas off of 16th St and I stop in. The salesman was nice, but insisted I needed brakes and rotors all the way around on my Lexus and it would cost $750.00. (It was a shock to me because I had my front brakes done less than 40k miles previously and my mechanic told me on my last oil change my rear brakes did not need to be changed for another 6-8k miles). I told the mechanic and the salesman to bring my car down so I could get a 2nd opinion and the salesman asked, "Why, you have to get it done anyway". I immediately went to my mechanic and they never bashed Midas but stated my front brakes and rotors were good for another 20k-40k miles and they replaced my rear pads stating the rear rotors are fine and my rear pads could have gone another 4-5k miles.. I paid $231.00 vs $750.00. Midas are fast talkers and in my opinion charge for services that are not necessary. read more

Took my car here for a brake inspection and was greeted with quick and polite customer service, until they came back and told me I needed new rotors in addition to the brake pads all for a whopping total of $526! Mind you, this is only for front brakes. When I questioned them the tune changed real fast. The man at the desk, John, was now sharp and seemed bothered that I was even questioning him. Well, as it turns out I did NOT need new rotors and mine were easily able to be resurfaced all for more than half the quoted price. I drive for uber black car service (with four vehicles) and have used these folks for the last two years in a row for a couple reasons: 1. They always over deliver on service and allow for last second appointments. 2. They don't try and upsell on any additional problems with the vehicle that they find during the examination. One other thing: Every time I show them a bid from another shop, they have guaranteed to beat the price of the other shop. I won't stop going here unless they go out of business. They checked out a car I purchased and did a thorough check through everything for a reasonable price. Last July 2016 these folks gouged me for belt replacement ($500+) and caused a power steering pump to leak ($525 for a new pump), 2 months later - still leaking another ($310) to replace the hose that should have been replaced to begin with. Another mechanic showed me photos of the power steering pump sensor wires that were cut from the PS sensor and now requires repairing. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! They look for ways to rip you off. I am a single female with one car that I take very good care of. The new owner Shawn is counting on clients from previous owner with that had outstanding customer service, these new owners do not. If I could give minus stars I would, but this Yelp requires one star to be checked. Next stop... Better Business Bureau! These guys suck! read more

Terrible customer service. I walked in because of a squeaky brake. They looked at my car and the first thing they talk to me about is my cabin and engine air filters. I had to remind him about my brakes. I eventually agreed to get the work done and asked how long it would take. He promised it would be done by 11 a.m. They didn't start working on my car until almost 11! Then they found out that the wrong parts were ordered. Great, add another 5 to 10 minutes to get the correct part delivered. I understand stuff happens but there was zero communication from anyone. It's ridiculous! I do not recommend getting any services done here. They were dishonest. Called and asked how much it would be to have power window looked at that was not rolling up. I was told there will be no charge to "open it up and looked at." When I got to location I was told there was a $45 charge! I would not have my paying, I know services are not free but be honest up front when I call and ask. And was still charged $30. While they checked the door I asked for an oil chang and asked if they checked all fluids, "oh yeah all except brake fluid." So why was my coolant low an no one said anything and did not fill it. read more
