Vehicle to a shop to get it fixed I've never had a good experience before. I've always felt lied to and ripped off. This Midas shop in the group of guys working there change my whole experience. Customer service was great they all treated me with respect , respected my opinion and we're open to talk about other solutions to my vehicle's issue. I walked into the shop expecting to pay a couple hundred dollars and they got me out of there safely fix properly for $15 or less. If I could give him 10 Stars I would and I definitely will recommend everyone I know to use the shop for any of their mechanical needs on their vehicles. I don't have any service experience here so my rating is based purely on their customer service. After my initial attempt to have my tire pressure checked at the Natomas branch of a popular tire store (which I learned doesn't accept walk ins after 1pm), I thought I would have to go to their Arden location. I never think about going to auto shops for simple things like that, l tend to go with the obvious. I left from work downtown heading towards the tire store but decided I didn't want to drive that far so I turned to Yelp and found Midas on 16th, which was much closer to where I was. When I called, I asked the guy that answered the phone if I could swing by for a quick pressure check. He said yes and gave me specific directions to find the proper entrance to pull into at the shop. I hung up and thought I hit "get directions" for Midas on 16th, but apparently I had accidentally clicked on another shop's page and my navigation sent me there instead. I went into panic mode and tried desperately to find the shop that I had originally called but I was driving, couldn't remember the name and knew places would be closing soon so I gave up and kept going. I just wanted to get somewhere. Fortunately the new shop was able to assist me and I forgot all about The Auto Experts; that is, until my phone rang and their name showed up. I truly regret not remembering the name of the guy that called me, but he was calling to see if I was still on my way because they were closing up in a few minutes. I don't have a relationship with this shop, didn't have an appointment with them and they had absolutely no reason or obligation to follow up with me to see if I still needed help. I don't know about you, but I've never had a business call me back to make sure that I could get the help that I need, especially when they're trying to close up for the day. Even though I ended up going somewhere else, that simple and unnecessary phone call was greatly appreciated and is the kind of customer service that will get you a customer for life. Unlike the other shop that I ended up going to (that only services German vehicles), Midas can accommodate my domestic Equinox and the next time I need auto service, they will definitely be on my radar. Took my car here the other week to see about rotating the tires, and I brought my male friend with me because I know how sexist some shops can be when dealing with women, and these guys were no exception. The manager greeted me by calling me "Hun" and "sweetie" in this smarmy used-car-dealer voice, and his crew was eyeballing me like a piece of steak, which was just creepy. Excuse me, but DON'T call me "sweetie" - just because I am a woman doesn't mean I don't know where my water pump, serpentine belt or radiator is, DUDE. Another reviewer said it best, this place will give you the creeps. They were too busy to take care of my car at the time, so I left, but honestly I was relieved that they were because I didn't want them touching my car after that experience! The only people that I see leaving good reviews of this place are helpless women that don't know how change the oil in their car and think that doing an oil change in 10-15 min. is a miracle. Ignore these helpless femmes, people - they know not of what they speak. These sexist pigs will try fleecing you if they think they can, so if you do go in you should already know what you want and need done, then tell them to YOUR specifications what to do. Like I said, I always bring a male friend with me because otherwise even if I'm right, I always end up being in a long, uncomfortable conversation of me nodding my head and going, "Uh-huh, yup, that's right" while dude yammers on trying to come up with lame fake reasons for why my car suddenly needs $500 worth of parts and service when it doesn't before I pay for what I actually need and walk out. read more

I was getting my 2003 Infiniti ready to gift to my brother in Socal and realized it really needed an oil change and the brakes looked at since they had been giving quite a bit of shake when braking at freeway speeds and it had been at least 5 years since they were last looked at. I was able to make an appointment online (super easy to do) on Sunday for the following day and was even able to drop it off early in the hopes they could get to it quickly. I heard back from them within a couple of hours with a very reasonable quote to replace the pads and rotors on the front set of wheels (they were warped which explains the shaking at high speeds) and a recommendation to get the rear set looked at again in 15-20K miles (they could have easily said they needed to be replaced as well [with photographs to show me] but they didn't). I gave the go ahead to get the work completed and few hours later I showed up to find that they had done all the work required AND THEY REPLACED THE REAR ROTORS AND PADS FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE! The owner had been running the front counter and he had mistakenly told them to replace everything. He could have easily had his guys pull accidentally installed NEW REAR ROTORS and PADS off and replaced them with the old (still operable) rotors/pads but he didn't. He said it was his mistake and he wasn't going to charge me anything extra. I was very thankful and will be taking our cars to this Midas for all future work. Thanks guys! read more

Who we kidding--Midas? Stop right there, my opinion has completely changed and should you take your vehicle to the 16th st. Midas your opinion will change as well. This is the 3rd shop in 3 months that I have taken my Jeep Wrangler to and finally I can leave my house without the anxiety of whether I am going to make it to my destination and back. The staff was great and for it being my first time I was also introduced to the owner and shop manager--both Shawn and Sean. Shop manager Sean explained in detail at the level of my understanding and broke down the cost prior to doing the work. After finding another issue it was explained in detail again prior to the work being completed. My vehicle was returned good as new and 4 months later my Jeep runs and sounds better than ever. What I like most about the staff at Midas is that Sean Paul, the garage manager called me the next day and at 30 days to see how the jeep was doing and to receive feedback and the services they provided. 16th St. Midas you guys are great---good TEAM WORK-- loyalty---knowledge--customer satisfaction---- and integrity---I will be back and I will sing your praises to anyone who will listen and anyone who needs automotive assistance. Great experience with new ownership! Very welcoming, honest, and prompt. Brought car in without calling ahead for a brake check. They got me in fast, explained what was going on letting me know my brakes were ok and inviting me out into the shop. They were not going to charge anything for this but seeing the buildup in the back drum brakes I decided to have them cleaned and adjusted for $45. I had been going here under the old ownership and up until last summer the service was acceptable. I then however got my wife's older Pontiac Vibe's air conditioner completely overhauled for about $850. It had been dead as a door nail. They even set up an interest free payment plan. But then less than two months later the blower stopped working. I brought it back and they claimed the problem was different even though that was one of the functions fixed. Charged me another $250. Less than two moths later fan blower stopped working again :-/. I brought this up with new owner and he said bring it in and they would get it up and running again for no further cost. Said going to an auto mechanic shouldn't be something you dread like going to the dentist :-). Nice guy. read more

The day prior to coming to John and the Midas team, I had a VERY unsavoury experience with another mechanic who charged me over $200 for an oil change without providing any of the other services they had promised, such as a tire rotation, safety check etc. Less about those dodgy mechanics, let's talk Midas John was up front and honest about the costs and very accommodating and understanding about the issue - mainly, a TPMS sensor was acting shonky and needed to be replaced. They got one in and replaced it... sadly, that one was faulty. So at this point, after the two days and nearly four hundred bucks I had spent, I just wanted to trade my Challenger in for a horse. John kindly offered to order another sensor in and install free of charge under warranty and saved me a lot of potential bills for hay and saddles. He even gave me a discount for coming there from Yelp. Later that week, they allowed me to drop the car in super early as I work at stupid o'clock and had everything hunky dory by the time I knocked off. These guys are the business. My grandfather was a mechanic so I tend to be picky in my choice of automotive repair shops. I took my 2006 Ford Taurus with almost 120,000 miles on it to Midtown Midas as needed over the last 3 years and have always been happy with the service and knowledge of the technicians. The shop is usually busy, especially on Saturdays, but a couple weeks ago when I needed the check engine light examined on almost no notice, they were able to fit me into a tight schedule and solve my problem. I especially appreciate the knowledge, expertise, and customer service of John who runs the office on Mondays but is otherwise in the shop working on cars with his impressive background of experience. I am also always impressed with how quickly they can perform an oil change and it has never taken more than the time it takes me to get breakfast and come back. Overall, a great place to bring my vehicle when I have needed assistance. I replaced my Taurus over the weekend, but I plan on returning to Midtown Midas with my new car when and if it needs work. read more

I had my first less-than-stellar experience at the Midas on Arden Waty, which included my servicing taking quite a bit longer than promised, and the inspection light not being resolved by the end of my visit. There were a few miscommunications, but thanks to Shawn (the owner) and his very capable staff, these issues were resolved over the next few days. Shawn took the time to call and talk through what happened, and he made sure that everything was explained and resolved to my satisfaction. This kind of customer service is rare these days, when everyone is having trouble retaining good workers, and supplies are hard to keep in stock. I realize how hard it must be to run a small business like this, and I applaud Shawn and his staff for maintaining their integrity and work ethic. The other day, my tire blew up as I was driving home from work. I gave Midas a call that same day. They ordered me a new a tire and replaced it all within 24 hours. I met the owner Karim while I was there and he was super hospitable for a car shop owner. They administered a thorough service check on my vehicle and provided me with each and every detail of that check. This is when they noticed that my car also needed an oil change. Instead of conducting the oil change on their own in an attempt to rack up the bill, they waited for me to provide my approval. In the end, I left the shop with a new tire, three freshly filled tires, and an oil change. I made sure to cross reference the price that they gave me and it fell in between a pretty competitive range for those wondering. Hope this helps! read more

I brought my 2010 Altima in as there was noise and shaking while driving down the freeway. After a very quick inspection I was quickly informed that I had very bad tire wear and bad shocks on the rear of the car. Luckily I had cought it just in time as I no longer had rubber on the inside of my rear tires. In the end I needed new shocks and new rear tires that were given to me at a very reasonable price. I was in a very vulnerable situation and yet I was still given honest parts and repairs at an honest price. A big thank you to Midtown Midas for taking care of my car when I really needed it. Excellent professionalism all around. I am a man that is very cautious when it comes to taking cars in for service and from the get go Shawn's team of technicians were outstanding. Shawn made sure to let me know personally via text messages how much everything would be so that I was able to prepare my finances in advance. Once arriving, I was treated with nothing but patience and professionalism by John at the front desk. I've been going here for probably five or six years now. Always have taken good care of us and we've been through three or four different cars. My last two visits were free for some quick fixes (a taillight bulb and an oil leak) and superior customer service by John. There's nothing like having a mechanic you can trust. The way I have discovered this is reasonable pricing, but also on the rare occasion they make a mistake they admit it and take care of it. I have a shoe repair shop and I know what it's like to be in their shoes: we're all human. We all make mistakes sometimes.
