Went in for a quick oil change. The standard oil change ended up costing way more then expected. Ed also said I needed new brakes and rotors. Which I knew was not accurate. So they were nice enough to my face and did not try to swindle me. They were very fast. Here is my issue. They told me they'd call me when it was done. I walked down to grab some lunch while they worked on my car. I was gone about 15 minutes, when I came back i decided to wait outside and talk to my mom on the phone to pass the time. After 2.5 hours i decided to check in because the work i needed done would've been super quick, and they'd told me on the phone to come early so I was confused why it was taking so long. it was done the WHOLE TIME. They never called, never stepped out to let me know when i was right there, they passed by my multiple times. I let it go in person but I really felt like it had to be a joke... how did no one think to let me know? Please do better on that front... it wasted a big chunk of my day. read more

This place is amazing. A friend and I were driving out to school and had an emergency on I-80 and the car was towed here... we could not have been luckier. Ed and his staff were so understanding about our situation- not only did they explain the issue in depth so we could understand what was happening, they also worked swiftly and efficiently in order to send my friend and I back to school. We were enroute from Maryland to Wisconsin whan the rlgft front wheel bearing of our All Wheel Drive van came apart. We nursed the van to Midas with the wheel listing at a 20 degree angle to the van. I left the van in front of the service door looking like a horse that needed to be put down. Ed said that looks bad. It was bad, the bearing was gone and the disk brake was the only thing holding the wheel in any kind of alingment. The mechancs includng Brian (I hope I have his name correct, great guy.) saved the day. Within 6 hours we went from barely able to do 5 miiles an hour to back to safe highway speeds. I came in to get an oil-change. They tried to convince me in purchasing multiple other services, including: replacing my air filter, flushing my transmission fluid, and replacing my spark plugs. I just recently had my transmission fluid flushed and I replaced both my air filter and spark plugs. When I confronted the guy at the counter, he was adamant that I replace both and was certain that my transmission fluid hadn't been flushed. If you get serviced here, keep your brain close and your wallet closer. Disingenuous and disappointing. read more

I've been here multiple times and they try to rip me off every time. The last straw was when I went to get an oil change and they told me that both my ball joints needed desperately replaced. I couldn't afford it so I didn't get it done. However, he quoted me $460 to replace both ball joints on my car (parts and service). The next time I came in for an oil change they told me that my passenger side ball joint was ok, but my drivers side needed desperately repaired (he showed me it was wiggly). So I got it done only because I applied for the Midas credit card. I was approved for a $700 credit and he found about $700 worth of repairs that "needed done" on my vehicle. Anyways, it was $360 for ONE side. That just doesn't add up because I was originally quoted for $460 for BOTH sides. I felt taken advantage of. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I needed some tires but since the car is leased, I didn't want to spend a lot. I looked into prices at BJ's Wholesale, NTB, and Tire Rack. In the end Midas Strongsville was the best. Overall the price was fair with far less aggravation. I also like that Midas has a national reputation and has been around for many decades. The guys at Midas Strongsville would have put on anything I bought at Tire Rack, for a reasonable charge, but I decided to buy some sweet Ohio made Cooper tires from them, with a rebate and interest free card (if paid in 6 months.) But what really made my decision easy was the staff. They are busy, but friendly and very knowledgeable. The mechanics take the time to explain things well. I highly recommend their work and will definitely go there again. read more

Overhaul experience was terrible. Had 1800.00 if front end work brakes calipers 2 new front tires done..5 months and 6kmiles later tires bald brakes noisy and feels like pads are worn car pulling to right bad.calipers totally rusted Took it back several times and ed mgr told me they weren't going to do anything about it which led me to call corporate..after several weeks and many phone calls later still Noone returned my calls..I then called consumer relations and spoke with a lady that finally got some help for me Took it back to midas as directed after they agreed to replace tires and front end alignment Mgr Ed was very rude, argumentative and stand offish. .two days later I also notice oil leaking in ground which not once was an oil leak mentioned after the many times I've brought it back and car was up on lift Ed told me my steering rack of pinion had a small leak. I took my car yesterday to another shop and was told I have a severe oil leak and my steering fluid was fine I feel like I've been totally mislead from midas and for what I paid them 5 months later most of work they performed was failing and on top of everything, noone from their corporate office would even return my calls. Very happy with my experience today at Midas. The gentleman at the front was extremely helpful and accommodating. I went in for an oil change and wanted to get the undercarriage of my car looked at because it appeared to have a loose piece of metal hanging from the bottom of my 350z and I didn't feel safe making my 30 minute commute home. Not only did they change my oil quickly and fix the issue under my car, they also informed me my break pads were badly worn. I have had issue with excessive break dust and knew the pads my Nissan dealership put on a few years ago were cheap (even though I paid a fortune for them) but wasn't sure of the extent of the wear. I was grateful that they took the time to check my breaks when they noticed the unusual amount of black dust all over my rims. The real winner with my experience today was finding a complete break in my muffler pipe.... I had no idea it was there so I was shocked to get the news. They took me back into the shop to show me the undercarriage of my car, and pointed out in detail the cracked muffler. I was given options on how to proceed and at no time felt pushed or obligated to fix anything. I chose to have them weld the parts together with a metal sleeve. Although i left with more than i expected to have done, i knew my car needed some work eventually and have no doubt the pricing was fair for the amount of repairs. They were very accommodating, fast and went above and beyond to make sure my car was fixed. I could tell a major difference in how my car drove on the way home. Everyone has their own experience no matter where they go and I am not one to write reviews, but was grateful for their help today and felt it imperative to share my wonderful experience. read more

I went here because my car needed brakes and muffler work. It was expensive, but it was 5 smaller problems that added up (entire brake system, muffler, serpentine belt). I didn't get the feeling that I was being taken advantage of. They took me to my car on the lift and showed me the state of things before I approved it. They didn't push me for a complete muffler, instead, cut out the damages sections and replaced just what needed it. My car is a 2001 Saturn, so it's in the final phase of life. I'm just trying to get another couple of years without car payments, and they got me to where I'm safe driving out the door. No one likes car repair, it always seems like a ton of money, and it's things that you didn't see coming. That said, they were polite, competent, and my car is fixed. So disappointed. I got an oil change and tire rotation from this place. Paid 80 some dollars. They couldn't rotate the tires because I had wheel locks on the tires unbeknownst to me and we couldn't find the key. They tell me they can break the wheel locks off and put new lugs on but it'll cost me $30 a lug plus whatever it costs to get a new lugs. I ask if I find the key or buy a new one can I come back and get the tires rotated? Of course says the guy behind the counter. So I go and purchase the key from the dealer ($20 btw) I come back to to get my tires rotated, and now it'll cost you for us to rotate your tires! Unbelievable. I pass 4 other oil change places to come here. I didn't even want to argue, just told him he lost my business and walked out. He didn't even care. Horrible customer service. Do not go here, Worst service ever. Apparently being younger and female means it's ok to tell you your car needs well over $1000 of unnecessary work for the tires, back brakes, and coolant flush. While the oil change (my original purpose) so far has been fine, I don't appreciate being taken advantage of and I will not be returning there. Wow, these guys are some real clowns. Took my vehicle to midas this mourning to have to warranty work done on my exhaust system that was under a lifetime warranty.Come to find out they don't cover your lifetime purchase. The manager took my paperwork and started laughing at me because I purchased the exhaust system from this location 6 years ago and said there is no way they are covering this under warranty. Very poor service from the start as soon as he found out I was there for warranty repairs. I will never go back to midas again. Can't believe these guys. Went here during the winter when my exhaust pipe on my jeep split in 2, by the time I was finished they put on a new catalytic converter and it was $950.00. 3 years later I went to another place in parma and the same repair with converter was $100.00. This place is a rip off. read more

This is car repair. You never feel good about these things and it is always more then you want to spend. They at least point out things on car and explain why. My husband was in the hospital at Cleveland Clinic and our car developed problems with overheating. Ed and his crew diagnosed the problems with our car and fixed what would get us back to Tennessee, and, on top of that, Ed told me problems that would need to be fixed when we got home to Tennessee. Ed was also able to take payment from our family over the phone so my husband and I could keep the money we had and have plenty of money to get back home. Ed, also, gave me information on how to take care of our aging car that even the owner's manual couldn't give us. I also made an appointment online and was called that morning to see if I could come in earlier which saved a lot of time for me since I was needing to get back to the hospital. I have never been to such a courteous, helpful, straight-to-the -point kind of place like this even in Tennessee. I wish I could bring them back to Tennessee with me for all of my automotive needs. Thank you so much to Ed and his employees for making a stressful situation not as stressful as it could've been and making me fill at home. Not sure if they are trustworthy, but the attitude needs a definite tone down. You go for a 'Normal' service like Oil change which is advertised for say $ 21.99 is not provided because your car does not qualify. Either its a new car or an old car (I have had experience both-ways). The service if fast but maybe its because there is no line. Anything that these guys charge/estimate I have got it cheaper thru dealer AVOID THIS SHOP! read more

I used this shop to bolt on a new set of snow tires on wheels. Simple job, but they managed to lose my business forever. It started with lackluster customer service. They failed to provide me with plastic bags for the old wheels, forcing me to load dirty, wet wheels into my trunk. Second, they refused to load the wheels. They also had aa hidden fee they neglected to tell me about and were utterly indifferent to the pathetic quality of their shop. Oh, last but not least, they gave me the lugnuts in an open envelope, stating they had nothing else. The manager helpfully suggested I find a ziplock at home. Instead, I'll look high and low for another shop when I need to put my summer tires back on. read more

I used the shop to get a lot of repairs done to my car not too long ago, and an overall checkup. While I know it needed a lot of work, I feel they may have done more than necessary. But, not being a car person, I let it slide and gave them another chance. Not long after all these repairs were done, I took my car back for an oil change. My experience with Midas at Strongsville was great. I took the car there when my electrical system light came on. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. They immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed the car very quickly. While performing a complimentary car inspection, they found a couple of other issues that my car dealer that I normally go to did not. I brought my car to my local GM dealer because it was shifting funny, the dealer said I needed a new transmission which would cost me over $3000for my SUV. I brought it to Midas and they looked at my Truck and found a leak in my transmission hose and replaced it for $300 and refilled the fluid I had lost from the leak. They saved me thousands and I my SUV drives perfectly now. I highly recommend this shop. I will go there for service from now on. read more

Went in for an oil change. Very shady. They tried to tell me that my vehicle was supposed to take synthetic oil. I told them it was not. Guy checked the computer again supposedly, and found out conventional was fine. The attempts to upsell were absolutely ridiculous. I was charged for shop supplies that were used. Not just parts, and labor. Shop supplies as well. Of course they told me I needed new brakes all the way around. I needed to get my fluids changed. I needed to get my filters changed. This place is very expensive as well. I will never go back to Midas, and I will make sure I let everyone I know not to go there. read more

Reviewing has to be factual and honest, but this Midas is hard to describe with pure facts. I just got a really bad feeling. With my maintenance light on and a long drive very soon, I pulled into the 10 minute oil change place next door. They had 4 cars ahead of me, so I figured I'd run errands first. BUT... there's Midas with a sign for $21.95 oil change PLUS tire rotation. They've got at least 4 bays - all empty. I've got a slow leak in 1 tire. Seems like a no brainer. So... first my Toyota Sienna "doesn't qualify" for the advertised price, second my treads aren't even so rotating is discouraged, third the plug for the nail they found will be $19.99. Skipping the rotation doesn't reduce price 'cause "the rotation is free". I turned down air filters, I turned down, tie rod repair, and I left thinking, "Was that load of crap because I'm female? But, really, it wasn't all crap - I know 'cause I'm a savvy female. It just FELT like crap." The labor suggested was all real; I knew about the tie rods & the filters. But somehow I left feeling ripped off for a 'bait&switch', an overpriced plug, and a delay greater than SIX cars that got through next door. Final cost for oil and a plug = $57.08 and Ed swears they put in 10w30 even though the receipt says 5w30. I think I know why all the Midas bays are empty while there's a line next door. read more

Stay far away from this shop, if the lot is empty there's a good reason why your the only customer !!! I went to this shop last week in hopes of getting my car fixed but instead I got in an argument with the manager who lied to me about doing a diagnostic test for my check engine light. I refused to pay and he called the police. While the cops were on their way the mechanic lifted my car up and wrote down the mileage and make/model. They basically lied about the diagnostic test and tried to do it before the cops arrived. The cops showed up and I explained to them that I wanted to leave once i found out how high the price would be to get it repaired but the manager refused to give me my vehicle and did whatever he could to charge me for work that wasnt done to my car. They had no choice but to give me my vehicle back once the cops came. I will never go there again. I also needed a wire reconnected and they wanted to charge me over $90 just for that !!! If you want a good deal and fair prices you won't get it at this midas shop in strongsville. read more
