Sometimes in life you meet people who make your day and Lisa at Midas is a special person!! Her infectious enthusiasm for helping her customers is so energizing. Came in for a safety inspection & she treated me like I was getting an engine overhaul. As I sat waiting, she treated everyone with Aloha and laughter. Lisa tells me the customers make her happy. She is in a high turn over position yet she has been there for 21 years being on her feet all day greeting everyone as her friend. Shame on me for only meeting her today. I will definitely be back because of her!! For Management, Lisa needs to be rewarded not only by recognition but monetarily. Y'all. I won't go anywhere else anymore. The aunties in the front are nice and funny. They always try to find a deal for me when I get something done. I've gone here for safety check the last few years. The first two times you could only walk in but now with COVID, you can call to make appointment. They are quick and efficient. I got there at 1201 for my 1200 appointment, I know shame on me. But I left within 20-25 minutes. Didn't take long at all. I came here for other stuff too. I changed my tires here as well. They were quite busy but still were getting a lot done. There is seating inside and outside. There is also a Hertz that shares the office. I like coming here. I didn't get to make an appointment last year because I was too late and I was running out of time. So I went elsewhere and I don't want to go back there. The team at this location is absolutely fantastic. We take our vehicles there for oil changes, brakes, and safety inspections and they always are fair, efficient, and do quality work before getting you on your way. I took our truck in for oil change yesterday and again they did a great job. I witnessed them talking to other customers about the issues with their vehicles and every single employee there is kind, well trained, thorough, and a great teammate to their coworkers. Somebody has done an exceptional job with training that team and instilling a high level of customer service in each of them. Ugh! When I woke up this morning to go to work I realized that it was February 1st and that my safety sticker had expired on January 31st. It was still dark out so I felt pretty certain that I wouldn't get a ticket but had to do some quick thinking. I used my trusty Yelp app to see who could help me with my problem so early in the morning. Like always my Yelp app gave me the answer. Midas located in Waipahu opened at 7:00 am!!! Do you believe that.... I was able to walk-in at 7:05 and was on my way to work with my updated safety sticker by 7:30 am!!!! This is my go to place for getting safety checks in Waipahu. I work all the way in Waipahu but I live in Hawaii Kai. So most times I can't make it back in time for the appointments at my East side safety check station. Midas/SpeeDee is quick and efficient. Because I was leaving for the holidays on December 20th, I tried to get my safety check before I left. Bad things happen when you forget to renew your safety check and registration. I've learned the hard way and I'm never gonna be late for any of those ever again. So anyways at Midas it's a walk in safety check, you don't have to make an appointment. I have two cars so it really took strategic planning. I had to only bring my cars in when I didn't have to bring my baby to my mom's house. The first time I brought my Camry in to get a safety check. They were wonderful. They were friendly and greeted me as soon as I entered and they were quick to process my papers. They told me to sit for a bit and that they would let me know when it was completed. It was done so quick, it was great. The next day I brought my truck. I had to come after I finished work and I was really pushing it since they closed at 4. I think I walked in a 3:45. I apologized but they said that they stop doing safety checks at 4, so I'm good. They quickly took my truck in and inspected it. It took a little longer than the first car, probably because it's pretty old, but it was still fast. This location is next to St. Joseph's Church in Waipahu. Goal- Oil change and Safety inspection. I used yelp to book the appointment. Customer service called me within 5 minutes. Booked the appointment for noon. Too easy! I showed up 15 mins early. They checked me in pointed me to their oil change section. Have them my info and took a seat. 10 minutes later Safety check, Oil Change and free tire rotation completed. Waiting area was clean and restroom available. Time is valuable. I was at Midas Waipahu for an oil change & safety check. I take all my vehicles there and WAS a FAITHFUL customer, I will NOT be returning. I was in the waiting room and I hear the YOUNG lady at the counter "remind" a customer to put in her phone number on the rewards pad. I asked why she didn't remind me when I brought one of my vehicles two weeks ago and spent $175 for oil change safety check & $40 for a tire repair leak. She responded with, well you need to remember to do it, like when you are at FOODLAND and you put in your rewards. She wasn't polite with her comment and when I paid my bill, I reminded her that I'm not at Foodland. I don't frequent Midas enough to "remember" to put in my phone number and that she reminded the customer in front of me to put in her number and even told her the savings she will get next visit. I've been going to Midas for minimum 10-15 years. I paid my bill talked to the sales gentleman & he was apologetic. I couldn't couldn't get my safety check because of technical issues. I left, stopped into Lex Brodie and got a safety check and a kind welcome. Midas loses 3 vehicles and Lex Brodie just gained "3" I will never go back to Midas again. Since Lisa retired, the front desk service is horrible. The young lady said well I've only been here a month and I told her to make a sign at the register for reminders to put your number in for savings. Look we are all trying to save money, however customer service is important. Which wasn't the case today. read more

I made an appointment on Monday for my car to have an oil change Saturday morning. I arrived early Saturday morning, only to be told that they will not see me even though I have an appointment, I need to go to SpeeDee oil change to have my oil change. I replied to the woman, I have an appointment here. She said no, we don't do oil changes, you need to go there. I am not sure if this is a new policy between Monday and Saturday, as I did not receive a phone call from Midas explaining the shift in location I went to SpeeDee, spoke with the attendant, was told I would need to wait 45-60 minutes. He apologized for the mishap was very remorseful for the way I treated at Midas. My car was put in right away. I have brought all my cars to Midas to have various work done on them, however, I am greatly saddened by the way the front desk has been managed this past year. I was in desperate need for a Safety Inspection for my vehicle. The place I normally would go to is a one man shop and unfortunately, he has been qout sick for awhile. I called around other places near my area but they didn't have anything that had fit my schedule. So again I had to rely on my good friend Yelp for some recommendations. Although Midas was not one of the top places for a Safety Inspection, it was a familiar name to me. So they were my first pick The phone call: A few rings before they picked up but when they did, it was a very sweet, friendly voice on the other end. She politely answered all my questions and got me an appointment that worked for my schedule. Or so I thought it did. I had to call back to reschedule because I scheduled a time when I had to drop off my son to work-oops! When I called back a guy answered and got me rescheduled for a later time that same day. The location: Located across of Servco Waipahu and right next to St. Joseph's, they are easy to locate. But because they opened up a new car wash, I kind of got lost. Their Main entrance is on the street between their lot and the church, NOT on Kam Highway. They also share an office with Hertz, so make sure you don't check in at the wrong desk like I did LOL! Read the signs Mary! The appointment: Since I checked in 45 minutes before my scheduled time, I was expecting to be waiting for a bit. But I was surprised that I didn't have too especially since they had other people waiting ahead of me. In less than 20 minutes my appointment was done. They even put my new Safety Inspection sticker on for me. Yay! The price: So this is where the 4 stars come in. I was quoted $20 something over the phone for a Safety Inspection which was reasonable for me. During the appointment I was told I needed to get new wiper blades because the ones I had on was streaking my windshield. That was a first for me but I took it as they were being thorough. The nice tech then tells me that my bill will be $80 something. My jaw dropped. So I kindly asked him why the jump in price? He said he was upgrading my wiper blades to some premium blades. As much as I appreciated that, my wallet didn't and this was just for 1 wiper blade not two. So I asked if he could recommend another type of wiper blades, which he did. I ended up paying about $50 something which I didn't mind since they provided great Customer Service so far. I just wish they warned me that the $20 something price was an estimate and that could change if they found any issues during the inspection. The nice lady behind the counter offered me a FREE car wash that following weekend. At first I was skeptical but I figured my car needed a nice wash so I did come for the car wash. I loved it! I definitely will be going back for more car washes and services in the future! read more

I would never recommend anybody go to this tire shop I got a quote to mount and balance all 4 tires for 120.00 but instead I sent my son for his car and they told him to pay 240.00. My sons a nice guy but I hate when locals rip off locals. So I called and spoke to a guy named Goto and he just gave me the run around. He charged my son 60.00 per tire to mount and balance??!!! The cat is out of the bag, if u look trust worthy you will get ripped off and the owners know and don't care.they know he needs they're beer money!!!! read more

I hate giving a 5 star rating during my first visit, but this Midas location got it! I went for my oil change as a walk in at about 10:45 am. It was empty and did my oil in about a half an hour. They didn't tell me that hey vacuumed my car like Jiffy Lube and One Fast Lube did and really didn't. To my surprise, they vacuumed my car. I was impressed! Has a lounge that I waited in which was perfect. Main thing was I didn't have to wait long because of how fast they were. The lady at the front told me that I just missed the earlier rush. Thank goodness I missed it. When I was leaving, it started to get busy again. I guess the timing was right. I am a happy camper and will definitely be bringing my cars here from now on. read more

My trusted mechanic recently retired and sold his shop. My 13 year old car recently started to get this intermittent dash warning light. Without a shop he still helped me frontline diagnosed it with a code scanner. This was a non-essential warning light can still pass safety check. He recommended that I take it to a shop so a mechanic can lift it up and do thorough physical checks from underneath the car to confirm diagnosis or rule out a loose wire connector or bad part. Just so happened I am in the Waipahu on a weekday around 8 am. So decided to take the car here as I had a safety check with no hassle few years before. A guy who seems to be the head mechanic checked me in and told me that there is a flat $200 diagnostic charge. He explained that the $200 is for about an hour of mechanic labor to do a thorough diagnosis including checking wiring electrical resistance from underneath the car. I figured give it a go but stipulated that they do the diagnostic right away while I wait. About three hours passed and about a dozen customers came and went, I went back to the counter. Though my car was moved into a bay within the first hour I never saw it lifted up or any mechanic working on it the entire time I waited. The counter lady was courteous and went back to inquire with the head mechanic. Few minutes later, the head mechanic emerged from the back and handed me a dubious repair quote for $2500. He explained that they only ran a code scanner and based his repair estimate on the scanner codes alone. Still made me pay for the $200 diagnostic charge. I did go to use their restroom for a few minutes so it is possible a mechanic ran the code scanner while I was in the restroom. But that's hardly even ten minutes. On top of that, they tacked on a 10% "shop supply" charge for no actual repair rendered! This shop is probably ok for routine things like oil change, safety check, tires, and brakes. Beyond that beware of bogus diagnosis and repairs. Would be 1 star except it is rare these days for me to see such well rehearsed live acting skills on this island. 2 stars for the entertainment value and use of their restroom. read more

Super convenient & saved me so much time!! Called early morning to schedule appointment. They were very reasonable with many time slots open. Staff was very nice, the aunties there are so friendly. They explained everything for my car and what was safe to use. Went for a oil change and safe check. I was done in 1 hour and 15 minutes! Which was super great!!!!! They have TVs to watch, bathroom, AC waiting area. The mechanic even took me to the bay to show me a few things I should look out for and showed me my tires. I went in to do my safety check and I gave one of the mechanics my registration and insurance card. He said it looked good and that I just need to wait because there were other people in front of me. After waiting an hour it was my turn and they were looking at my car. Another mechanic however came in and said that they couldn't take my insurance because I printed it out but it was emailed to me by agent. They said I needed to get the insurance on the app instead which I did and it only took me 5 minutes to get it. However when I showed it to them they said I have to wait another 45 minutes to an hour because they were working on someone else's car. I don't know why the mechanic that looked at the paper insurance card I showed him didn't mention anything until after making me wait an hour. I would not recommend going to this Midas location because of the poor service and the mechanics not knowing what they can and cannot accept. I ended up going across the street to Toyota and getting my safety done in less than 20 minutes. read more

Absolutely amazing customer service. June was a super busy month for me, so I came by on the 29th for a safety inspection. I was told that the inspector didn't know when he'd get to it and that I should just come back in the morning. The very adorable and friendly Auntie at the front desk, Lisa I think? Lol. She told me that she'd try to pull some strings and get me in first in the morning since I'd already waited that day. I come in the following morning around 8am and to my surprise there were already a lot of people waiting for their safety checks. I was prepared to wait for 2+ hours- had my coffee and a good book lol. Well Auntie recognized me and pulled some strings and I was out of there in 30min! Even got a discount for coming back to them. Absolutely amazing customer service. I will always come back to Midas for future safety inspections and any other motor vehicle needs. And thank you to the super cute Auntie in the front!! I went to Lex Brodie's down the road to get a safety check and they wouldn't pass my truck until I dropped a few hundred for a muffler repair. Before that they wouldn't pass it until I bought four new tires. After that I decided I hated getting ripped off by a company that was trying to take advantage of me so I said, let's try Midas! Great people at Midas give EXCELLENT service. They inspected my truck and told me they didn't know what Lex Brodie's was talking about because there was nothing wrong with my truck! Their diagnosis was much fairer and said, maybe in a year or two you might have to take care of the muffler because there are some signs of decay but it will last. Tires were good, lights were up to code, brakes were excellent. No need to drop THOUSANDS of dollars into an old beater if all I use it for is short dump runs and recycling! On top of that, they gave me a first time discount for coming to them. I brought my other two cars here and STILL got the same price. Aunty in the office is very sweet and kind. She exhibits the Aloha Spirit full tilt! The men who work in the garage are extremely respectful and treat your car as if it were their own. What a great company! I recommend this place for anyone looking for a fair price and wonderful service. If my mechanic cannot repair my vehicles, I'm surely bringing them here FIRST. Mahalos, Midas! Update: Went back for an oil change with my coupon and followed up on a gasket problem which they had made me aware of at my previous visit. Ashton and Jun went beyond my expectation of service. Idk what happened to the lady that use to work here with long hair and sweet voice (I'm sure long time customers know who I'm talking about) but her customer service was top tier. These new younger girls provide no customer service whatsoever. They ask you to sign something and don't even tell you what it's for. They don't even know what their specials are, they have to ask one another to confirm what it is. The manager over heard me asking about a special which couldn't be honored as it needs to be purchased in advanced, so I was ok with that (my fault for not calling in earlier to ask about the special, or the website should Recommend to be purchased in advanced prior to appt since they say it's from a third party website.) The manager though was kind enough to offer me a coupon special for my services which was really nice of him. Thanks Lito! He told the younger girls several times to honor the coupon. When it came down to agreeing to the services with the estimates, the manager noticed the girls didn't input the special into the repair invoice. He shook his head. I honestly agreed with him bc he was loud enough that everyone in the room could hear but apparently these girls didn't hear or care to put in the discount. The best place to get a safety check! On a Thursday After work i went straight here after hearing that they do safety checks until 4pm. No appointment was made. I walked in at 3:40 and was gone at 3:55 with my brand new safety check. The lady at the front is one of the nicest ladies and is very helpful. Will be back every year for my safety check. I also heard that they do fast oil changes. This place is awesome. ............. a year later. Still the same great customer service and quick work by the mechanics. Out of all the businesses I visited this weekend, I gotta say this place left a great lasting impression with me. I've been to the same 2 places to change my oil ( Goodyear Waipio & the car dealership where I bought my car from) Overpriced and the service was crap. Half the time I wasn't really sure they actually did the oil change or even bothered to look if anything else in my car needed to be replaced. I work 7 days so at the end of the day it was more about convenience than anything else. I'm really happy I gave this place a shot. I made an appt. online and less than an hour later someone called to confirm. The day of, I got a little confused. There's 2 work bays you can go to, since I has a smaller car, I was instructed to take it to the one up on the hill, they check you in there and you pay there afterwards. I thought the mechanic had great communication skills and recommendations. He went over the different oils with me even though I normally just request Synthetic. Then called a little later to recommend I replace some filters (which coming to think of it, I haven't replaced since i bough the car back in 2013) Something that wasn't in my though process however if any of the other halfass repair shops told me.. I woulda did it sooner. They even went out of their way to vacuum my floors!! I'm ecstatic about that bc my car was filthy inside and i appreciate their initiative and efforts to go the extra mile. On Saturday, July 22, 2023, I took my car to Midas, located on 94-709 Farrington Hwy Waipahu, HI 96797 for an oil change. When I got there, I left my car unlocked. I went to the front desk to check in and fill out the paperwork. I gave my keys to the receptionist. When the mechanics were ready to service my car, he told me that he could not unlock the car(remember...I said I did not lock my car). I went to the car to see if it would unlock. It did not. I pushed on the unlock button on my car remote, it did not unlock or give any response back. I didn't want to jump to conclusions so I went to Auto-Zone and purchased a new car remote battery. I installed the battery, but it still did not work. I talked to the manager of this Midas location and told him my remote was working just fine this morning when I drove the car. When I gave physical control of the remote to Midas, it came back inoperable. My conclusion is some must have dropped it and damaged. It is going to cost me $534.00 to replace the remote and have it reprogrammed. On Monday, July 24, 2024, I talked to Midas General Manager of Hawaii, Tim Hall in order to resolve the matter and pay for the replacement and reprogramming of the remote. He refused to pay for it and was in fact very rude about it. Not even an apology. So now I am locked out of my car, I had to order a new remote, my work equipment is also locked in the car, my family and I are now down to one car until the new remote arrives later this week. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and a complaint with Midas Corporate. read more
