Skip this spot. There were fundamental issues with the rice: it's not very sticky, it's somehow mushy, there's too much of it. The fish quality was fine overall, but do yourself a favor and don't order the yellowtail. The saving grace was the spicy tuna. For the price, I think this may be the worst food I've ever had. For 19 dollar popcorn chicken appetizer, I got a tiny little bowl of chicken. These used to be 8 dollars. Something in them felt the need to raise the price of this dish by 11 dollars. What compelled them to do this, we may never know. They were nice and it looked nice in there. Very clean and welcoming. Whenever we are in Tehachapi, we stop here for a meal. The place is always clean and nice decor. I usually get the sushi sashimi combo plate that comes with soup, salad, and rice. my family and I enjoyed dinner here the other night and it was a very pleasant experience.I loved everything The portions of the Ramen and udon noodles are plenty with a large bowl and I tried to beef yakisoba and it has such a wonderful flavor and the texture of the noodles stirfry. I highly recommend this place. I did not try any of the sushi this time but everything on their menu just looks wonderful. The service was perfect. and I love the decor inside the restaurant. Food was good, but not $$ like advertised. Their menu prices obviously were changed with the new prices. My issue is I ordered Garlic Edamame. I didn't see it on the menu for the price since normally that is under $10 bucks. When I looked at my bill, the Edamame was $14 dollars That is pretty steep IMO. I asked the waitress if this was correct and she said yes. Just a heads up and $17 for a rainbow roll. Food was good but on the high side. read more

I gave this business two tries. Twice I stopped here during the advertised 11am-2:30pm open time: once at 1:10pm and once just before 2:00pm. 40- minute drive each way. Both times the place was dark, the door was locked and nobody answered the phone. And yet the door sign showed same hours as Yelp. I despise dishonest business hours. Stopped here from out of town as we love to try new sushi places, and this hit every single expectation I have in sushi. Not fishy in anyway, super creamy fresh fish, the ultimate best combinations of sauces on rolls, and sashimi is thick cut! Each rolls is the most wonderful new creation of the Chefs and blew my mind each time I tried a new one! We will 1000% be back and make the drive for Midori's sushi! Surprisingly great sushi, large portions, and very friendly hostess and sushi chef. We were just passing through town and were staying at the adjacent hotel across the parking lot. Midori exceeded all of our expectations. My wife ordered the Unagi Don, which I don't think was actually on the menu. Portion was huge with two full sides of eel over rice, with delicious garnishes of ginger and pickles. Also had a combination tempura appetizer which was too much for two people, but really excellent. I ordered the chef's choice nigiri sushi dinner, which was basic but the fish was really fresh and nicely presented. This will be a regular stopping point when we pass through town. read more

We have decided this is now our go to sushi spot. You will notice it doesn't smell like fish when you walk in, (which it shouldn't), plus it's very clean & updated, unlike another popular place in town. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place to go. I recommend ordering everything you want at once, otherwise you will be there for a long time. The owners & employees are very nice & the fish is great & seems very fresh, plus we don't like seaweed, so they always make our rolls on soy paper. I ordered a dinner combination plate and my husband ordered sushi but my dinner came out way before my husband's food. I tried to eat slowly, after he told me to start eating without him, by the time his food finally came mine was cold and I was pretty much done. My dinner combo plate was ok but not worth $39. I've been to this restaurant a couple times now. It seems family owned and run. The decor is nice, and typical of a Japanese restaurant, in fact it would be difficult to distinguish the interior from any other Japanese restaurant. The prices are to be expected. I only experienced delicious, high quality fish at Midori. The menu is full and varied. And the staff is friendly, though sometimes harried by the lunch or dinner rush. I can recommend the: miso soup, yellowtail, salmon, red snapper, mackerel, large scallop, quail egg, as well as the shio broth ramen. I will warn customers on the Japanese fried chicken, as I found it very bland; but it does come with a spicy house sauce. It was really the only thing I found less than stellar! If you've gotten this far in my review, you might be interested to know that I've worked in a sushi restaurant before and it is very different than working in a traditional (hot) kitchen. This restaurant runs a tight ship dedicated to customer satisfaction. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to subsequent visits. (Sorry I didn't add more photos :( read more

This is my favorite sushi place! They stuff the sushi with tons of meat and use minimal rice. The fish is super fresh compared to other sushi restaurants. The food was amazing the sushi chef was very engaging. I had the house salad that was fresh. I had an order of Hamachi belly that was the highlight of my meal. My mains Course was their Chirashi bowl. Full of fresh cuts of sashimi and excellent sushi rice. I was give fresh homes pickles and my favorite was red peppers that went great with my meal. We went today for lunch. It was very hot inside. My husband was actually working up a sweat sitting there. We asked for AC please (it is August) and they complied. The resistant is very clean. Looks like they serve beer but didn't see any signs of other cocktails. We had bento boxes. The miss was not comparable to any we are used to and we didn't like it at all. The tempura came with a few veggies but no shrimp and frankly wasn't great. The portions were very small and the prices were far too high. We assume this is because they probably get most of their business from the nearby hotels. The owners were very nice and somewhat attentive. However, we will not return. read more

As a Lancaster native passing through town my son wanted sushi. My husband and I yelped what was around and this was the number one spot. To our excitement it is fully worth it! We ordered gyozas which are pork, it's not my favorite but they were tasty, popcorn chicken which was moist, hot, fresh, tender and not over fried. It came with a spicy Mayo that was delicious, we kept it for the rest of our food! We ordered a bulgogi bowl, crispy rice, scallops, spicy tuna roll and a rainbow roll. The bulgogi bowl was delicious, the meat was a little fatty but that's almost impossible to not have it with bulgogi. It came woth more rice than you'd need but was delicious nonetheless. The crispy rice was my husband's favorite, it was cooked to perfection and a perfect mix. The scallops were good, but scallops are a hit or miss depending on the timing of ordering them and their availability. And the spicy tuna was scrumptious and so fresh tasting. We can't wait to come back! The staff was so incredibly friendly too, I could talk to them all day! With it being a full-ish house, we walked in and we're seated within two minutes! I highly recommend this spot wether you're from Tehachapi or if you're just passing through. Worth it!!! read more
