    Breakfast Tacos

We drove the Turquoise Trail from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and passed through the small town of Madrid. We stopped at the Refinery and it was 11:30 when we sat down. They don't start serving lunch until around 12:10, so we ordered breakfast. My bestie ordered the Loaded Lox with a side order of two fried eggs and a Cucumber Soda. I ordered the Breakfast Tacos with no meat, but extra avocado, plus the Minty Watermelon. The day was gorgeous and we sat outside right off the road. Our server was very friendly and took our orders right away. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. My eggs were very good and the corn tortillas were excellent. It came with Christmas - both red and green salsas. I typically don't like the salsas, but these were great. This is definitely worth a stop if you find yourself driving through Madrid!

What a joy it was to visit Refinery 14 for the first time. We opted to sit on the patio over in the corner in the shade, as it was a very hot day. The outdoor space is nice with many tables both under the patio and under the trees. The food was amazing! I am a long-term patty melt connoisseur, but I have begged off for many years because it's really hard to find a good patty melt. I opted to try the patty melt at Refinery 14 and was pleasantly surprised. I was served a fat, homemade patty with lots of green chile dripping with cheese. Of course bread and onions were also included, which rounded out the wonderful sandwich. Homemade potato chips were also serve served, as well as a pickle spear. I also opted to get a cherry limeade, which is way better than any cherry limeade I've had anywhere in the last 20 years. The service was great. We were attended to immediately upon arrival and our server was kind, competent, and friendly. The best part of the visit was meeting the Mayor, Galisteo, a black Australian Shepherd-looking dog. He came over and sat at the table with us and was very well-behaved and sweet. I highly recommend Refinery 14 and I will definitely be back as soon as I am able.

Food: excellent, high quality ingredients and flavors. The chicken wrap and house salad were fantastic. Service: equally wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Ambiance: can't go wrong with Stick Figure radio. Very pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. Bonus: Coca Cola shop!

Amazing menu and friendly relaxed vibe. Great breakfast / brunch. Our table ordered French Toast, Monte Cristo sandwich and the Fruitatta. Each dish was delicious.i cant wait to go back again. Pup menu, shady spot, great staff. Definitely recommend. Great to have a place in Madrid that isn't just burgers and pizza.

Such a great place I love everything from the menu, the place is very nice and lovely decorated; the flavors of their dishes are amazing, they have a delicious and big selection of drinks and coffees, clean restaurant, the staff is very nice and they have one server by the time but he obviously was great and managing the place perfectly. We enjoyed our visit very much because this place has a nice beautiful vibe.

Great food...fresh, high quality, & cooked perfectly! I love a good hearty breakfast to start my day, & this absolutely did the trick. Smaller options available as well. No capp or lattes, just coffee, but totally fine since you can get that next door. I wish I would have had more time in Madrid to go back for lunch!!

We were really excited to try this place because they are pet friendly outside, including dog treats and water bowls for pets. The food was very good, hot fresh, tasty. Red and green chili was hot and flavorful. Although I think their plates were a little lacking in portion size and presentation. For example, usually a montecristo is battered and deep fried (perhaps too heavy for breakfast) and served with the side of raspberry jam and some kind of side order. These were just the sandwich plain as shown. My breakfast burrito was very good with had breakfast potatoes sausage scrambled eggs and cheese. I chose to have the sauces on the side. Had I chosen for it to be smothered, perhaps it would have been a better presentation. My only complaint is that they are fairly expensive, but I get this is a tourist trap location. You can see the receipt for prices. Service was good at approximately 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday.

They call these 2 places "ghost towns" which is a bit of a misnomer. I do think that Madrid and Virginia City Nevada have a similar abandoned mining town vibe that we both found charming. And with the exception of the Virginia City Hat Maker, Madrid has better art. We came in on a Friday and just before a weekend music festival was to begin with the Mine Shaft being a major participant. We missed all than, but wouldn't have minded a little early live music. We snagged a nice outdoor table on the deck and enjoyed 2 different types of delicious brisket, along with generous portion of fries. I had a local beer, while Gayle had wine. We took our time and really enjoyed our time here. Until next time....

We knew what we wanted so I went back up to counter asking her if I could just give her our order, because we knew what we wanted. The lady said ok, but you need to go back to your table, I will be right there to get your order. Then she by passed us went to table of 20+ asking them if they if they were ready to order. Almost like a mix between the films Memento and Breaking Bad. But yes, Lisa's Grill. I had to stop in at this Southwestern Flare Diner! It's situated inside the truck stop, with a very 70s & 80s atomic age diners vibe like that one scene in the Kingsmen movie. Loved the ceiling, bold colored red, glossy, with silver...makes Johnny Rockets look artificial. So I had to try their top picks on the menu. The Red Rooster -- country fried steak with red hot sauce, and their hatch chilli burgers. The food was ok, Id probably rate a 3.5/5. Menu is heavily influenced by Spanish cuisine. If your looking for a quick breakfast along route 66 in Central New Mexico, this is a good spot to take a break. Overall service, environment food I'd give it a 4/5. Seems pretty popular amongst the locals, and place is pretty packed for a lunch run. Yea, definitely come check it out!

And being from out of town, it would've taken us at least that long to find another spot & probably would've had a wait at any other restaurant. There was plenty of space to wait in front of the restaurant, it was shaded and the weather was nice. I don't know how long we waited for a table, but it seemed to be less than quoted.
