Our waitress and the bar staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations (our first time here). There was a slight mishap with my order, but they bent over backwards to make it right, which was greatly appreciated. The food was amazing. I had a cup of their clam chowder as a starter (I was starving) and it was easily the best chowder I've had outside of San Francisco and Seattle. My main was their French dip. It was piled high with thinly shaved beef and cheese. Would definitely recommend. My wife enjoyed her salmon and eggs Benedict. I tried a bit of it and thought the salmon had fantastic flavor. I definitely recommend enjoying a meal here. We'll definitely be back, though next time we'll know to secure a reservation ahead of time.

We were a group of 8 and while we were waiting on our food I happened to have a clear view of the kitchen. When I watched for a minute I realize the chef had his long hair pulled back in a ponytail, but his beard down to his chest had no covering. It grossed me out so much that every bite I was looking for hair! Then while the food came out and the waitress was serving she accidentally gave a plate of food to the wrong person. When it was discovered the waitress offered the plate to the correct person stating "he only took a couple of bites"! We all sat there in disbelief. The restaurant remade the dish to say the least. The food was tasty but the service was extremely slow. We arrived at 6pm and our food was served at 7pm. Question: would I go back byes, but I would check to see if the cooks were properly protested from hair dropping in my food.

We had a reservation on a Thursday night so seating was easy and highly recommended. The service was friendly and spot on. Tonight we came out to Js for my husband's birthday…read more The restaurant was clean, dimly lit, and fairly loud. Our waitress was good but not one of our favorites. Our waters were never filled and our non-alcoholic beverage drinkers were never checked on to see if their drinks were ok/wanted something else/need anything. She also only checked on us 1x right after the food was dropped off to see if we needed freshly ground pepper and not again until it was time for desert and the check. For appetizers we had the Thai Scallops and the special Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus. The Thai Scallops are one of our go-tos and they were good; however, they were pretty heavily breaded tonight. The Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus was good but was hard to eat and could have used a bit more cooking. For my main I had the linguine and clams. I was HIGHLY disappointed in this tonight. The noodles were delicious and beautifully done but the "sauce" was nothing but pasta water. There was flavor: no garlic, no butter, no clams-no flavor whatsoever. The clams were also macerated as if someone chewed them up and spit them in the dish for me. My husband had the ribeye with gorgonzola butter and polenta. Everything was cooked beautifully and seasoned perfectly but his chunk of butter (his favorite) was so frozen it never melted-even by the end of the meal. For desert, my husband had the bread pudding and we had the crème brûlée. My husband said the bread pudding was good but slightly dry and cold. The crème brûlée was horrible. We sent it back and got "oh sorry someone new made them-big fail" and laughing. The brûlée was not even close to being set so it was pure liquid. It wasn't even a consistent temperature. After years of loving eating at Js and celebrating milestones here it makes me sad to see how quality is slipping.

Where has this been all my life, and why is it tucked in a small food court in a bowling alley!? I…read moreordered the Wild West Tater and honestly was expecting a fairly satisfying, but ordinary, baked potato with toppings. What I received was an amazing blend of super tender pork in a slightly sweet but tangy BBQ sauce, mac n' cheese, and a perfectly cooked (not hard or dry), very generously sized potato (big enough for two). On a chilly day, when you're hungry, this absolutely fits the bill. Warming and savory, but well balanced, and not greasy. After some bowling or billiards? Perfect. I was thinking this was probably the best flavor, when I saw the rotating ad for....a spaghetti potato pie. Will have to come back and try other varieties. The cashier was very helpful and patient explaining the menu. Checked the website and looks like they update the menu with new options too. They say they're "dedicated to perfecting the art of the baked potato," and they're doing exactly that. Along with it, they're also serving up one of the best craft-style fountain sodas, Stubborn Soda. Don't hesitate to make a little detour (or order delivery) to try this place. TIP: Located inside the HomeGrown Bowl center: from the main entrance, head down the hall to the right past the arcade; also near a side entrance.

They told us not to order over the phone, only online. OK, fine, but it seems like you shouldn't turn away business just because we used a phone. We got our order placed online instead. My wife received a confirmation email and then an email saying our order was ready for pickup. She arrived at the restaurant, and the lady working said she had never gotten an order and hadn't started on it. So my wife waited for the food to be prepared and finally got it home. The food was good. The mac and cheese potato is really good. The mac and cheese was a star. The shepherd's pie was ok, but a little shy on the meat and needed some more seasoning. At least the portions are large, and you'll likely be able to split an order into two meals unless you're super hungry. The inside of this place is small and located inside the bowling alley building. Nothing special about the ambiance. Takeout is probably the way to go. This place should be 3 stars. However, I am going to cut a little slack and assume it was a one-off experience. So for this review, I am sticking with 4 stars. When I return, I hope the food is up to par, and the service improves. I would love to write a 5-star review for this small local business.

Needless to say, they have room for special events and private parties. So if you are looking for a venue keep them in mind. The Prime Rib was outstanding. Indeed, it was the best Prime Rib I have had in a very long time. Our waiter and the Maitre de were outstanding. They made us all feel so welcome and almost like we were family. We all are still raving about the Prime Rib. There is something so wonderful about a place treating you like family. The human connection is something we all want. It is so awesome to feel appreciated and connected to our world and others. The staff here were outstanding. Everyone commented on the service we received. The appetizers and salads were tasty. The family members who had the salmon said it was excellent. Everyone was pleased with their meal. Portions are generous. All of us remarked on how good the food was. Not to mention, the price was right. The ambiance might be a little lacking. There are no tablecloths. However, keep in mind that tablecloths come with a cost of their own. They need to be laundered and then some need to be replaced. So there would be an added cost. So the question is would you prefer a little more ambiance or a cheaper price for an excellent meal? However, if you are looking for excellent service with delicious food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Not to mention, that the drive to Carson is beautiful. Plus there are plenty of things to do in Carson to enjoy. Perhaps it is time to beckon back to a slower pace of life. Take a nostalgic trip to Carson to see the Capitol all decorated for Christmas. Stop in at the Nugget and enjoy a dinner at the steakhouse. I wish I could remember the name of the Maitre de and Waiter I hope that management sees this review and gives the KUDOS and a big SHOUTOUT for delivering such great service. We were told that the chef was on vacation. Should have just left then. Then after being seated and given menus, they came and took them back and gave us this paper revised menu since the head chef was out. Our actual waitress was Chelsea and she was fantastic. If not for her, I would give 0 stars if possible. The restaurant itself we really did not get to see much as we were tucked away in the 1st dining area by the entrance. No worries. It was nice and quaint inside and that's about where it stopped!! I asked about bread, and a different lady brought us 2 rolls that were barely room temp. Basically went from bag to bowl. We ordered our prime rib medium. As anything over that gets tough. We also ordered it with broccoli and when it arrived it had inedible asparagus. I mean they were so fibrous we could barely cut through them. Chelsea apologized and brough us out some broccoli on the side, and just like the rolls, it was barely room temp. Not her fault by no means. Now onto the very overly cooked prime rib. There was 0 pink in it. It was well done and very tough. It was also barely 1/4 inch thick. I mean the thinnest prime rib I have ever seen for supposedly being a 9oz. I have had 8oz at other restaurants twice the size of what we were served.. I managed to cut a couple pieces for my husband to eat. I dd not eat any of it. Basically we sent the majority of it back when we left. The only plus thing about this visit was the mashed potatoes and gravy. Still luke warm at best. I ate about 3 bites of food and was done with it. It was the worst prime rib I have ever seen/tasted in my life. Now Chelsea went and got our receipt for us, which of course was no charge, but if it was, I would have never paid 22.99 for what we received. It was that bad. Chelsea apologized several times and like we told her, you do not control what comes out on these plates. So yes she did get a nice cash tip for being such a sweet waitress and trying to do what she could. As far as the restaurant, we will not be going back for anything there. It is also only open Friday and Saturday from 4-close. I came home and made a sandwich for my now late dinner!
