Just got an oil change here and left quite pleased. As a female, getting an oil change can be quite daunting. The tech that worked on my car, Collins did just what I needed. I did not feel pressured into adding extra services (and I know the car could have used new windshield wipers) extra recommended services were simply put in the comment section of my invoice. (With the prices added too, which is nice to budget for) The price of the oil change was pretty standard and they do offer a military 10% discount as well. read more

I brought my 2017 Explorer for my first VA state inspection. Unfortunately, it failed due to a driver mirror turn signal lens. Hunter, the GM, was very professional. He explained the situation, I corrected it the same day, and he had me back in the next morning to sign off the inspection. Everything was great; I would recommend this location look into allowing appointments (like the other franchise locations). While it may be convenient for a walk in, appointments allow individuals to manage their schedules. I will see you next year for my state inspection! read more

This is the absolute worse place to go and get anything done on your car. I dropped my care off and these people had my car for two full days claiming they are doing State Inspection. My car is well maintained so when I called no one picked up and no answer. I took a Lyft to go and see about my car and they were closed. They didn't communicate with me on any level at all. I'm AD military and I have to drive to work each and every day so I can do my job but these ppl have me in the limbo every time I call about my car. On top of that they failed my car for my struts leaking fluid when I just got them put in a year ago. I went underneath my car to take a look for my self and nothing is leaking they probably didn't know I'm a technician myself also a fender light isn't working like am I stupid? I don't have a fender light on my car. Please don't take your car there not even to change your windshield whippers better yet get air in your tires. Overpromise and under deliver..should be the name of this shop. I dropped off my car at open time (7:30 AM). There was one other person in front of me. It's been more than 8 hours damn near closing time.. I HAD TO CALL FOR AN UPDATE. Nobody called me. They asked if I could leave my car over the weekend for a measly inspection. Instead of telling customers ITS SAME DAY PICK UP, be honest and up front and stop giving false promises.. you guys knew how many cars were in front. You guys knew what work is to be done and estimated time for each work takes and yet you guys wasted MY TIME AND MY MONEY BECAUSE I HAD TO PAY FOR A LYFT TWICE!!!!!!!!!! And they said "FIRST COME FIRST SERVE WHICH WAS A LIE!!! There was only a couple of cars in the parking lot and when I picked up my car to tear into their ass, the parking lot was packed!!! Love this location! Called and asked about a tune up for my vehicle and was given all of the information I needed over the phone. The day I took my car in for service I was greeted with the best customer service the moment I stepped foot inside of the business. I was in and out within a couple of hours without an appointment. This is a fairly popular location so you want to get there early. I had inquiries about other services and was given a straightforward answer and a detailed explanation of how each service would impact my vehicle. Garbage place, do not come here. Came in here to get my truck checked out because it was shaking, asked for alignment and they said they would check. After the "alignment" they said it "might" be a wheel balance or bent rim. Took forever only to not fix the problem. Should've read the reviews prior to coming here. To the owner, I asked if the alignment would fix the shaking and they said it could, don't y'all work with tires? Isn't this something y'all can fix and if so why wasn't it done. The guy at the register even looked nervous as I was paying, he gave a %10 discount because he knew they did not fix the issue. He also said there wasn't much of an alignment done. We would like a refund for the $111 we paid. read more

My air conditioning was out and it was unbearable to drive my car. Tim and his service technicians had my car blowing ice cold air in no time at all,. Other places that I called said that they wouldn't be able to look at my car for at least two weeks. I am beyond satisfied with the care and service they provided. read more

Avoid tune up plus in Norfolk. took my girlfriends car for an inspection had 5 out bulbs small marker&tag bulbs ect they wanted her to pay $205 to replace them due to it being a "tedious difficult process to get to them" where they get off charging 1.64 hours of labor @$125 for something I did on my own in less than 10 min in the auto zone parking lot (only one requiring two Screws to be removed to access it) is pretty comical. After I brought it back they took 2 and half hours to glance at the car to see it was done. Gladly will not be going there for any work on future vehicles. Just wanted to make this known I would hate to see someone who doesn't know much about cars go there and fall for this. read more

Beware - Took car to the Tune-up Plus on Little Creek Rd Norfolk. Person working the front desk (NOT the safety inspector) told me the car failed inspection because the radiator fluid was low. Wow didn't know low radiator fluid was on the state inspection list. Wanted $$$ to fix it. After telling them to put a rejection sticker car and would fix level myself for $8.00, they gave me a complimentary top off. read more

If i could rate them lower than a 1.... i would Do NOT take your car here to be inspected unless you have 2 or more days free. I dropped off my car at 8am on a Tuesday (middle of the month) as of 5 pm the next day (wed), it STILL was not inspected. I had someone drop me off there 5pm Wed and they hadnt even looked at it. Still parked exactly where I left it. I called 2 seperate times prior. (After 4 on Tuesday and noon on Wed) I was told the exact same thing, there was 1 car ahead of me, they were busy....ect ect ect When I tried to address this matter with the counter people, I was told that's how Virginia is. Ummmm, NO it's not. I've been getting cars inspected in this state for 20 years and I've never had this happen. My advice to the owners, if you cannot offer a service in a timely manner, then DON'T offer the service. I will not be taking my vehicle here for any reason after this negative experience. Came in here with a groupon for a oil change and I also brought a new door handle for my car since someone tried to break in. They oil change coupon was for $30. I left the car and went home by the time I got home they called me and asked me to come in to look at something. When I got there they said my brakes were going bad my tires were going bad and a couple other things then they said they could fix everything for $500 I said I just want the oil change and the door handle installed. They said ok and I waited around and finally they asked me to come talk to them again they said that the door handle I ordered didn't fit so they ordered a new one without asking me. So all in all this place is a scam for money if I could give 0 or even negative stars I would this place is trash stay the hell away. read more

The BEST place you could go to for honest, reliable service in VA beach. I live in New York and have lived in VA beach, but am not used to going to a shop to get work done. After being put through the ringer a few times because of a small oil leak in my van, i was recommended this place by a Jiffy Lube employee. Hunter was amazing when helping with finding places, getting honest quotes and advice, and hospitality. He helped me get my tires and oil in check for a suitable price, and even went above and beyond to make a tire pickup for me when i couldn't do it myself. The service is fast, and the people are friendly. My cat and i had a nice time in the waiting area while my van was being serviced, and even after I finished and still needed work (and a tow later on), Hunter was always available and the most helpful anyone could ask for! Me, my van, and my cat made it back safely to New York, thanks to this Tune Up Plus location. Hunter and his crew helped with a lot of stress caused by this whole van situation. read more

This place is garbage. I brought my vehicle in a couple days ago and left it overnight for a state inspection. I was told if I left it with them it would be done first thing in the morning. They finally called at close to 5 pm the following day and told that in order to pass inspection they would need to replace my rear control arm (because the bushings were going bad) and all of my blinker lights because the bulbs weren't yellow enough. The rear control arm had been replaced earlier this year (bushings included) by Chrysler because of a recall so there's no way the bushings could have deteriorated by this point in time. Go somewhere else. Friday morning I stopped by and was told my car would have time for state inspection if I left it. Fast forward to Friday night, stopped by because I heard nothing all day. Office manager tells me I'm still third car in line. Says if I leave the car it would get done on Saturday. I ask if he's sure because I could just take it somewhere else. He says it will get done so I leave it. No word all Saturday so I stop by around 5:30 PM and the car didn't move since I dropped it off the morning before. Guy was full of excuses and couldn't even look me in the eye. This place sucks, don't waste your time. Go somewhere else. Update: Thanks for your timely response, if only I received a timely update on the status of my car that just sat around for two days. This place is a joke! Had my car for 5 days never called to update me! Then I went ahead and used a credit card threw them to pay for the repairs and they charged me for 2 separate credit cards total cost of 2500$ and I called them and called them to get it taken care of an it took them a month to even call the credit card company (if they ever did) so I called them and took it into my own hands and had it put on a fraud charge because it was and it's finally taken care of almost 3 months later! Because I had to take it into my own hands! Do not take your vehicle here under no Circumstances!! To Michigan and I had no tread On the inside of my tires and they never even told me about it! Took my car in for an oil change and ended up getting more work done (which was necessary anyways). Making an appointment was easy over the phone, and got me in pretty quick. They want to make sure your car is in a good shape before you leave. I just made an appointment to have my tires changed out. I gave my tire information, and they gave me quotes and comparisons on tires. I appreciated the quick but detailed explanation on what tires are available. They are upfront with what you will pay at the end of the day, which is important for me when bills involve "service charges" that can discretely fluctuate. Also this place is located right across from a laundromat, which helps kill time if you need to do laundry. Or you can walk across the road to several restaurants, or Walmart. read more

Absolutely unprofessional. Dropped my car off for a state inspection around 1PM and was told it would be approximately 3 hour wait. At the 3 hour mark I called for an update and the worker hung up on me and when I called back to get my update I was told that my car wouldn't be inspected today. The worker then proceeded to argue with me and tell me I was wrong when I told them it was unprofessional and bad business to not keep customers informed that their cars would not be inspected as promised. read more

This place is a rip off. I had a problem with my air conditioner and got a quote from them for $300.00. I had a coupon for a free diagnostic. The kept running up the bill and when it got to about $800.00 I said forget it, I just want my car back. They replied that I was lucky and could fix it for $595.00. I reluctantly said ok. They had charged me 3 diagnostic fees and other stuff that I didn't understand. I talked to the manager and he said that they had to do several different diagnostics which doesn't make since to me. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Please do not go if you want to keep your car!! Aside from trying to take advantage of you, they are beyond rude once you decline. They wanted to charge me a couple hundred to flush my power steering and break fluid and said it was an immediate issue. I called my boyfriends father who knows his way around a car and he told me that it was an easy change and we could do it at home. The mood of the "salesman" completely changed. So after they changed my oil I left paying ONLY for an oil change and within hours my car goes crazy. The car rattled then stopped in the middle of the road. I called them and without asking for more info they said my belt slipped. Well my belt did not slip. Then they said "come in and we will check it out" well how am I supposed to come in when my car will not start!? My engine was beyond hot and loads of white smoke pressured out of the engine camp. I assumed my engine did not receive proper lubrication. They said "sweetie, we don't give out bad oil" and was unwilling to help any further until my boyfriends father stepped in. They towed my car and said they'd look at it the next day. UPDATE: next day came. They said the oil change was fine and wanted to charge $100 to actually diagnose the issue. I declined. My grandfather looked under my hood and immediately said I needed coolant. He also checked my oil. They didn't bother to completely clean the old oil out either. It did not have that brand new oil complexion. Funny how they looked at my power steering and break fluids to get a couple hundred dollars off of me but didn't check my coolant. Avoid this store. Very poor customer service. The "mouth piece" (Eric Toxey, manager) for the store portrays to be professional but has a nasty attitude. I brought my car here for a state inspection. I had a few things wrong like thin brake pads and one light out over the license plate. They offered to do the brake work for an outrageous price but I declined. I respectfully informed Eric that I had another mechanic that could do the necessary work and a better price. He then started to discredit my mechanic and attempt to sell me to his services. I declined and took my rejection sticker. Eric appeared a little annoyed and bothered at me telling him I could get the repairs completed elsewhere... Anyway. Fast forward... The re-inspection was the kicker. I watched a different guy from the first do the re-inspection. He did not take any tires off to re-inspect my brake pads. He did not look at my license plate light with the lights turned on. He appeared to looked for new issues that didn't have anything to do with my brakes... I watched carefully. I've seen re-inspection and he did not thoroughly re-inspect my car but he found a different issue... These guys are shady and Eric Toxey is allowing this shade to happen and will argue with a customer to defend incompetents. This TuneUp Plus store is the typical shady mechanic. This place has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in any establishment. Today is saturday, I had an 11 am appointment to get my oil changed and tires rotated this morning, they told us to leave the key and they would call when it was finished stating "it would take no time." At 4 pm this afternoon I still hadn't heard from them so we gave them a call, they said my car hadn't been serviced yet but was going to be the next vehicle in....it is now 8 pm... I still haven't heard from them and they closed at 6 and are not open on Sundays. Withouth even a courtesy call, I have no idea what the status of my car is, all I wanted was an oil change. My appointment was at 11 am, there is no excuse for such horrible service. Needless to say, whenever I finally get my car back, I will never return to this sh¡t hole. read more

Went in for a state inspection and left when they told me I need all new brakes & all new Rotors on a car that's been sitting in a garage since it's last inspection because I was overseas. Then they tried to charge me $900 to do the job. And lastly, dude caught an attitude when I said hang on let me call my mechanic. Hand me that rejection sticker please I'll gladly take it and my money somewhere else. Had my mechanic look at at it. He changed my brake pads. I took it too a more reputable place and my inspection was done with in 30 minutes. read more

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. After an inspection and an oil change, I was relatively satisfied with Tune Up Plus. No major issues besides them trying to find any work possible they could suggest I get them to do to my car (i.e. flush out all of my fluids). The last work I had done there was engine mount replacement. The broken engine mounts were discovered during my oil change. They definitely needed to be replaced and they did it in just a few hours on the same day. The price was fair and the mechanic did a good job. However, in the process, my key fob (remote unlock/lock) was broken off of my keys. Then manager Justin offered to replace it for free. When the new one finally came in, his attempt to program it kept setting off my car alarm. Long story short, I stayed in touch with the place from the time it was broken (Nov. 22) until now. After the holidays I went back to continue to get them to rectify the situation and found out Justin had left and had not recorded anything in their system about the broken key fob or him trying to replace it. New manager Eric said he would take my word for it and try to contact the owner. I stayed on top of the situation until weeks later he finally he let me know he ordered a key fob and he would program it and fix my spare one (which had somehow stopped working in the process of all of this chaos). Instead of finding someone who could do it correctly, he got a technician to attempt to do it and ended up further messing up the programming. I ended up getting it fixed by Ford for free but told them if I was charged I expected them to cover the bill. Eric said he would not authorize that and said if it went to court "and it will" (his words) I had no proof they even broke the key fob in the first place. Horrible attitude from someone who claims to be "pro customer service". In short, after multiple trips back and forth to Tune Up Plus, I not only wasted gas but my time as well. I have never been so disrespected by a company and treated as if I was the one who created the mess in the first place. I will not only never give them my business again, but plan on letting everyone know what a shady place it really is. Eric Toxey should not ever be in a management position and shame on Justin for not properly documenting anything in the first place. **Side note: Eric stated the key fob he ordered was directly from the Ford dealership. When I went to Ford, they said that was a complete lie. Just another cherry on top of the situation Tune Up Plus put me through. read more

The most horrible customer service I've ever experienced. Made a appointment for 9:00am for a simple oil change and didn't leave until 1:00pm. After seeing my car finally being pulled into the garage two hours after being there. I decided to walk off for a hour. When I returned they told me they that they couldn't get into my hood, yes I had a damaged hood latch. However I would've preferred to be contacted rather than waste 3+ hours to find out my car was not at all serviced. They turned me away stating that it would be a liability if they opened it, in which I kinda understood. I was able unlatch my hood on my own in under five minutes and they finally serviced me. Would give this establishment zero stars if I could for the dreadful customer service they displayed at my time being there. read more

I have been trying to find the words to describe what incredible people are at Tune Up Plus. Both my husband's vehicle and mine have been in several times over the past few months (for separate issues, both cars are getting up there in age and mileage) and we have had nothing but great service. I recently had my breaks and rotors replaced and had mentioned that we were moving 1200 miles away. Pete, the gentlemen working on my van was concerned because they noticed there was something wrong with one of my calipers, but i could not afford to fix it at the time. I promised to come back before we moved to get it fixed (Pete did not want me driving that far without fixing it). Well, as luck would have it, less than two weeks later my radiator blew and I had to be towed to the shop. I received my estimate and they had done everything in their power to make the bill as low as possible. I went to pick it up the next day and received a HUGE surprise. These gentlemen went to great lengths to not only find a replacement part to my caliper, but ended up having to custom make one! Oh, and did I mentioned they fixed this all free of charge (a savings of almost $400!!!). They knew I was strapped for cash and was already having to come up with $1400 for the radiator and misc parts. They honestly did not want me driving on that caliper (it was making my car shake something horrible! I was afraid to drive it myself!). I cried tears of joy and gave hugs to everyone! I wish I could take you gentlemen with me when I move, you truly are wondering, caring people. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for my family.
