This is hands down one of THEE best donuts ever concocted. These donuts are AMAZING!!! The best ones are their old fashioned cake style. The flavors are perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not to over powering. Subtle but very delicious. They have a heavy inside cake like texture with a crispy (typically glazed with amazingness) outside. One of the best thing about this place is all the donuts are made from scratch using organic ingredients. Also it is very personal and the feel the inside of this restaurant was as if they made each donut with outmost care and no industrialized machine or oven was used to make it. They have the traditional flavors as well as some amazing flavors like peanut butter and chocolate, cookies and cream, French toast, and lemon poppyseed just to name a few. Overall, it's a bit pricey but the atmosphere, quality, and customer service make up for it. Vegan donuts. I have to say I was skeptical about the concept, but I decided to pull the trigger on a LivingSocial deal for a dozen from Mighty-O. I waited until the very last day of the promotion to stop by and found myself here with little to choose from. As you might expect, there were stragglers in the same predicament wanting to get their donuts. By the time I arrived, the only two choices were the most basic of options, glazed and the cinnamon & sugar donuts. Hence, this review is based on these two donuts alone. That said, I found these classics to be awesome. I can see why Mighty-O beat Top Pot in a donut competition. Since these donuts are vegan, they are cholesterol free. You would think these donuts would not taste very good as a result, but I found both donut selection to be moist and delicious. Comparable to other donuts that I have had without as much guilt. Though the donuts were covered in sugar, my teeth didn't get sugar pains despite downing the full dozen which is a good thing. Yes, I ate the whole box. They are really that great. The donuts hold up pretty well. They were still good the next day and the day after. If I had to pick which one I prefer, I would say the glazed donuts. But that is just because they are less messy than the powdered ones. I did also try a large cup of drip coffee ($2.35). Coffee drinks are made at the counter, but for drip coffee you serve yourself as there is a pot next to the milk and sugar station on the right side of the shop. The coffee here has bold flavor, but doesn't taste too strong which is important since the donuts are the focus. I don't know if I would make a trip out to the Mighty-O shop again since it is a bit far away from where I live. Though I would give them a try if I saw them at Whole Foods or at a coffee shop serving them. I do hope they would consider opening a second location on the Eastside. read more

The Chocolate Topped is lovely, but I do wish the cake had a bit deeper chocolate flavor to it, the frosting is delicious though- if offered, I would consider drinking it. The Glazed is something you can skip. It's no traditional glazed donut, it's not hollow, but solid & cake-like. It tastes fine and the glaze is wicked good, but I wouldn't order it again. Basically, they have a million amazing flavors, but I'm daft & rolled in at 4pm- NOT DONUT HOUR. Donuts = made for mornings. Mornings = I am sleeping. The good news? It was Happy Hour! woo wooooo. 4pm to 6pm is half off donuts, so these little gems cost mere pennies, my friends! After a quick stop at Paseo where sandwiches were shared a visit to Mighty O Donuts for dessert proved requisite and finding the small, tidy shop still baking fresh after noon I was encouraged, my love of cake donuts and fritters rewarded four-fold as a batch of both were just ready to come off the cooling rack including the highly praised French Toast plus Organic Raspberry, Plain Glazed, and (after a short wait) the Apple Fritter. Unbeknownst to me before entering the shop, Mighty O's donuts are both organic and vegan while the shop, featuring reclaimed items, recycled t-shirts, and plenty of kitsch is so very "Seattle" and with friendly servers helping an ever present trickle of patrons I sat down at a small table with my friend to enjoy the donuts, each one surprisingly light with the French Toast tinged with maple and cinnamon while the fritter, virtually oil-free, was wonderfully flavored but in my opinion a bit less crispy than I'd have preferred. A nice place, particularly for the vegan/vegetarian sect, there are undoubtedly better donuts to be found in the Pacific Northwest, though perhaps none with better values or sourcing. read more

Be careful getting your donuts from here. I got a maple bar and chocolate peanut butter donut for $9...? Yes they have unique flavors, but $9 for 2 donuts seems high. If you come get donuts here just make sure you get the freshest donuts. Because mine tasted like the grocery store donuts. I'm not questioning anything but the price, if I'm not getting warm fresh donuts for $9 dollars. I'm better off going to the grocery store. I saw them also at Zoka's in Kirkland and thought it was very cool that they were made from vegan ingredients...now I actually want to go and check out their website to see what exactly are in these desserts. Are they healthy? Don't taste healthy! They tastes like a cupcake but more dense! I'm naturally not a fan of cakey donuts but these aren't sickly sweet and goes great with a newspaper and some drip coffee. UPDATED - Still my favorite donut shop. Just not happy with current service and prices. Donuts are now $2.50!? Not any real deal if you buy a dozen!? Meaning it costs me almost $30 for a dozen!!?? I purchased two chocolate donuts with nuts on them today and it cost me $5. The only reason I purchased those two was because it was those donuts or plain donuts with glaze. Granted it was 200 so I understand the selection was going to be limited but that was pathetic. Next I wanted to buy vita coffee. The coffee they had out was 2 weeks past the roast by date. I love Mighty-O, and I'm not even vegan!! Their donuts taste fresh and are flavorful, the wait staff is friendly, and they have pretty decent coffee. Last time I was there I had the raspberry donut. It tasted SO FRESH and there were even a few raspberry seeds in the glaze. It's close to green lake, so I love going for a run there and then ending with coffee and donuts at mighty-o. Had a horrible experience with them last year (long story short - 2 hours before they closed they had no doughnuts for sale on a Saturday afternoon and the employees working found it amusing to make my 4 yr old cry after we made the long trip here). Emailed them with what happened and the gal I corresponded with (can't remember her name) was truly apolgetic and even gave us a gift card. These are definitely my favorite tasting dougnuts! Better than Krispy Kreme and Top Pot. I can buy them at Whole Foods but it's cheaper to come here (even though it's an event to get here). Of course you have to navigate the street parallel parking and this is in a little commercial area right in the middle of a neighborhood. I'm dodging people walking their dogs, kids, people are everywhere. Tangletown is a busy place on a Saturday morning. Need to circle the block to see if I can locate one parking place. Of course, you widen the circle until you find a place; really not that hard. Anyway, I walk in to a really nice neighborhood place. I love these small local stores where you seem to be treated like you live just down the street. I know a few of these places in Seattle and they are gems in a sea of commericalism. By the way, they have a huge selection and finding a plain glaze donut which I thought would be plentyful is; well I got the last 5 glaze donuts. I've had samples of Mighty-O Donuts before during a fun run and couldn't quite fully appreciate how wonderful they were. Now that I'm vegan, I'm always finding excuses to eat any vegan junk food (Oreos! Dark Chocolate!). My room mate brought home a little box (4 - maple, original glazed, chocolate glazed, and cinnamon sugar) to share for a morning treat and gave me first pick! Nothing says "I love you" more than a box of Mighty-Os. The donuts were appreciatively crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The glaze wasn't overwhelmingly sweet nor was the cinnamon sugar too cloying. The maple bar was melt-in-your-mouth soft and the maple glaze tasted pretty legit. I did find the fried-taste of the donut pretty prominent though...nothing that can't be balanced out with coffee. read more

Uh-O Mighty-O!!! I love the name, I love the concept, but I just don't love the taste. The concept is fantastic. Mighty-O Donuts seems like an innovative spot in the marketplace (i.e. vegan donuts that taste good) with creative flavors, like a french toast donut with maple on top of a vanilla cake with cinnamon dusted with powdered sugar, or a seasonal blueberry cake donut with a light glaze. On paper, these sound like great tasting donuts. While I'm not a vegan, I completely respect the artistry it takes to create a vegan morsel that tastes phenomenal, and there are absolutely vegan treats that I would eat based on tastiness alone: Bluebird's Vegan Horchata ice cream comes to mind. Not sure why, but Mighty-O isn't my cup. I'm not vegan, but I love donuts, food innovation, and good tasting things. The donuts look beautiful in the case, but despite great names, the taste is just not remarkable. My donut is just missing something (um, butter, milk, eggs, perhaps?) These are good donuts made with love, and don't get me wrong, they are uber popular. For a vegan bakery, the goods are edible. That is actually something most fail to do. Usually they put to much "gum" in it and cause it to be too chewy, making most people feel as if they are eating "plastic food". Now, that the donuts do not have this texture is an amazing feat. However, as a donut they absolutely fail. They have a heavy taste to them like a dry cake. If you are expecting a "Planet Donut" from NY experience (since this place was rated higher than it and 8 other more deserving shops around the US) where the donut is the fluffy, fresh, refreshing, and soft - don't go in. If you want a vegan donut to go with your granola and can't take any of the natural products in other bakery's, try it. Just bring a half gallon of milk, because its a little hard to swallow. I love donuts and definitely wanted to try this place. I have never tried vegan donuts before so I do not have any comparison. It is amazing they make vegan donuts and they weren't bad but I am used to regular donuts and to me they were just not right in my mouth. The texture was way too soft and cakey and even the flavors were kind of off. I had french toast, coffee and the basic ones. The coffee is the only flavor I thought tasted right. I have nothing against their work and I think it is a great thing that they have so many options for vegans and vegetarians. But it was just not for me. P.S.
