Apple Fritter & French Toast
Katelyn L.

SCRUMPTIOUS... and vegan! I got the apple fritter & French toast donut. Dare I say the French toast was better than the fritter (gasp). Whatever they're doing they're doing it right. Staff was friendly & quick, and there's a nice outside area to eat & people watch. 10/10!

When you're hard craving amazing donuts - you'd be hard pressed to turn away from one of the best, Mighty-O Donuts. Their donuts are all 100% vegan and, I'd confidently put these up to a blind taste test challenge for non vegan friends any day of the week. Based on their website, they can be found at five different locations ( https://mightyo.com/locations/ ): Ballard, Green Lake, Capitol Hill, 2nd & Madison, and Marginal Way (pre-order only). Often times they can be found in other stores as well, many times when I've visited Whole Foods, they had Mighty O's donuts in their donut case. My favorite location is the one at Greenlake (2110 N 55th St Seattle) as that's the one I've known since moving to Seattle 18+ years ago. Let's talk more about 18+ years because .. well, Mighty O's has the distinction of being a Seattle Vegan classic, as they first started selling their donuts in (wait for it....) 2001 and opened their first bakery/cafe in Wallingford all the way back in 2003, 20+ years of vegan donut goodness ... it's hard to beat that level of consistency and continuity !! Trivia Time! Did you know that Mighty O's won the first ever Food Network Donut Challenge! True story! This was back in 2011, Season 11 Episode 8, April 10th 2011. There were four competitors overall, one of which was also local to the Seattle area but not vegan. Mighty O's persevered and rose above all challengers to win the competition. You can read more about it here == https://www.wallyhood.org/.../food-network-donut.../... I would provide a link to the video but try as I might, I wasn't able to find a playable link. If you're able to find one, I would love if you could share it in the comments section! Ok, now that you're well entrenched in some history of this Seattle iconic classic of vegan donut mastery, time to talk about ... the donuts!! They always seem to have a colorful, flavorful, tempting array of donuts, from the more demure and classic to bold flavors (they're fun on holidays with temporary holiday flavors). They specialize in cake donuts (yum!), and I do mean specialize (!!!) but also offer the yeast variety as well. It's so difficult choosing one (or two) donuts over another that it's not all together uncommon to end up leaving there with a dozen , maybe that's just a "me" problem . For our recent visit, we managed to keep our order somewhat ... reasonable, Twist - a soft, doughy yeast type donut, and three perfect cake donuts Orange Glazed mini, Coffee Bomb, and a Chocolate Peanut Butter, each with their own unique base of cake donut goodness with specialized flavors to elevate each in their own unique way. If you haven't tried Mighty O's, you're in for a treat (or two) and if you have tried them, always check back because they routinely add new flavors to their itinerary as well as having regular classics available.

Who knew donuts can also be healthy? Mighty-O-Donuts specializes in organic and plant-based donuts that not only taste great, but do not have harmfull ingredients in it! I had the opportunity to try out their limited edition donut: the Dookie Donut! The chocolate taste was strong, but not overly sweet. They had a cute design to it meant for April Fool's Day, so hurry and get them when you can! The staff that helped me were nice, professional, and sentimental, as you can tell they had fun making these for customers! :) I've been going to Mighty-O-Donuts for years now, so give them a try the next time you are craving donuts or something sweet to eat!

Located in the beautiful university district of Seattle, Mighty-O turned out to be a great spot for coffee and you guessed it-Donuts!!! I tried a variety and loved them all-Jelly donut was one of the best. Great coffee options and staff were very accommodating and friendly. Parking garage nearby as well.

Vanilla sprinkle mini donut, peanut butter chocolate donut, cold press coffee with almond milk.

Fun organic vegan donut options! They have mini sizes which I loved so I could try more flavors. Not going to lie though, I enjoyed the classic donut flavors more than the chocolate peanut butter one. French toast donut was good too though. Coffee was yummy as well! Outdoor seating with shaded area was appreciated and enjoyed. Will definitely be back!

A "must to" when I come to Washington. I wish we had a Mighty-O in Louisville! This store is cute & quaint. The service is always great. Parking can get difficult. Their donuts are fresh & scrumptious. They have so many various flavors. In previous years I've come during the summer so they had blueberry donuts & fritters (highly recommend if you are in town during the summer months). This was my first fall visit & they had pumpkin spice donuts. Delicious! However my new absolute favorite that I wish I had more of: Grasshopper. It's the perfect mix of chocolate & mint. So so so yum!

I tried the vanilla cake donut with pink sprinkles - it was dense and delicious. There were so many flavors, they all looked so pretty - it was so difficult to choose! Definitely want to come back and try more.

One of my favorite Mighty locations. Near Greenlake, Tangletown nestled in a residential area, they have a lot of foot traffic which I think contributes to a better store. While they do run out of some donuts by mid day, they keep a lot of donuts at the ready. There's a nice selection including seasonal and celebratory flavors. It's a nice shop with inside and outside seating to enjoy a coffee too. The staff is a friendly group.

Dense, delectable donuts. Expensive. No frills, to-go setup storefront. Enjoyed ~ Raspberry Riot, French Toast, Apple Fritter. Service ~ no one else in the shop but the guy looked in a rush. His suggestion was 'depends what you like' and nothing more. Turns out he just wanted to get on his phone after handing out the box to us. Neighborhood in and out nook.

My husband has been dropping hints of donut cravings so I decided to surprise him with donuts and coffee this morning; not being a donut lover I used Yelp to help me find a top rated donut shop. The ratings and even media coverage I found on Mighty-O Donuts really peaked my interest, yielding a preorder I placed two days prior to pickup. I greatly appreciate the option to preorder, this ensures your desired selections are available and makes the pick up process extremely efficient. These donuts are truly unlike any other donut I've smelt, they don't reek of grease. I chose to order a variety my husband really appreciated being able to taste the fresh apples, lemon, raspberry, and maple. My toddler whom loves pumpkin devoured the pumpkin spice donut; I had to try it and it was spectacular (I truly don't like donuts, I'm still surprised I actually enjoyed it!!) The coffee is really good also, definitely grab a cup! Overall, my little Friday morning surprise went perfectly and my husband couldn't be happier hosting his meetings. Thanks Mighty- O Donuts; I highly recommend!

While I am still not a fan of mighty-o's donuts, I do like this location and the staff. I come in looking like a complete idiot unsure of where the line is, which donuts are for sale, etc. But the staff were very friendly and my dog went bonkers when they gave him a donut. It feels festive in here whenever I pass by.

We go here any time we are in Seattle visiting my brother-in law. Given that they are plant based and organic the are decent donuts. They still aren't up to the texture and taste of normal donuts, but they hit the spot. There isn't a lot of parking in the area, but we walk there so it isn't an inconvenience. It is just something to consider if you are traveling to Tangletown.

Do they offer gluten free donuts ? I'll be visiting Seattle soon and would like to try if gf is an option.

All their donuts are gluten free AND vegan! Not to mention delicious :)

Do they have vegan Choclate old fashioned donut?

Any gluten free options?

They do have gluten free energy bars but NOT donuts. The donuts are non-gmo, organic, and plant based, but not gluten free.

Nut allergy friendly! Vegan and nut free on everything. Amazing. I had to try it…read more I saw this cute spot on inKind after walking by it during several Seattle visits and finally decided to stop in after reading another review that mentioned that they are nut-free. Spoiler: Absolutely no regrets, I wish I had visited earlier! I ordered a six pack with a variety of their donuts and shared them with four friends, having a bit of each. I'm glad we did it this way because I don't think I could have finished some of these donuts solo. I also had a seasonal rose latte at half sweetness which was decent, but very wholesomely came with a little donut hole that was pretty good. I will say, they nailed all the flavors. If you like the flavor, probably a 4/5 donut overall. They just weren't always my cup of tea. So the scores here are for personal enjoyment more than anything - like I said, they're solid donuts. Sour Watermelon (2/5): Holy smokes, this one felt like it was punching your taste buds. It's almost confusing on how this is in a donut form. It's more like a sour patch kid. It's intense. I don't think I could solo one. Mango Tajin (3/5): Similar to the sour Watermelon, it's perplexing how this is a donut. It was a bit spicy and tangy, just as the flavor implied. Cookies & Cream (3.5/5): Get ready to get messy. It's crumbly. It's sweet. It's more like a normal donut. Matcha Strawberry (4.5/5): My favorite of the weird flavors of donuts. They really aced the matcha flavor and it's well balanced for a donut. Blueberry Fritter (2.5/5): This was pretty hyped up, but honestly I felt like the blueberry flavor was overpowered just by the sheer amount of sugar. Texture was good, it just felt so sweet. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a fun experience. Share some different flavors! Paid via inKind with no issues.

Mighty-O Donuts seems to be one of the few vegan donut shops that actually tries to make yeast…read moredonuts - most places are cake only. We decided to drop by after eating lunch in the area for a sweet treat afterwards, then ended up picking up a whole dozen... Some notes for a couple that I tried: Maple Bar ($4.99) - Hmm.. Not that fluffy or light. Instead or being airy, it's more dense and has a kind of springy chew. The glaze is sweet and gives off a heavy maple fragrance, an indication they use real maple syrup in the glaze. Maple bars from other places are usually disgustingly sweet with basically no maple flavor - this one is sweet but more well balanced. I think the texture is definitely different from a typical yeast donut. I wonder if it's just because it more difficult to make vegan yeast donuts vs cake donuts? It's a different type of yeast donut, but still very good. (4/5) Chocolate Peanut Butter ($4.45) - Good peanut butter flavor in both the topping and glaze. I think the donut base is also peanut butter but it could be contamination from the glaze. The base isn't very sweet and is kind of almost savory in flavor. The donut is dense but not crumbly and instead very moist. Not really crusty, so not too much textural difference. I think it's baked rather than fried. Still very sweet. (4/5) Devils Playground ($4.45) - The donut base is dense with rich chocolate flavor, and coated with a chocolate ganache of just the right thickness. I hate it when donuts just have a smear of topping to make the donut look attractive, but does barely anything flavor wise. This one, on the other hand, is richly flavored. (4/5) Chocolate Raspberry ($3.65) - This is my favorite, same chocolate cake donut base as above but with bright berry notes and specks of seeds. The tangy berries do wonders to temper down some of the sweetness. (5/5) French Toast ($3.65) - My least favorite by far. Covered with peanuts (which is fine), but the cake donut base or perhaps the glaze tastes heavily earthy, like an overload of cinnamon and nutmeg. (2/5) People who expect the exact same texture as a non-vegan donut, both the cake and yeast types, will probably be disappointed. If I just think of these donuts as their own thing, they're actually quite good. There's another donut shop that I prefer down the street, but Mighty-O Donuts certainly isn't a bad choice for a sweet treat.

I'd have to give the location a five out of five. Great staff were there making donuts when I was there. I'll start with the maple bar, which was packed full of flavor. I'll give it a four out of five: great texture, great flavor. The maple is really strong, stronger than my preference. I'll go to the buttermilk bar. The buttermilk bar was nice and dense, something great to dunk in a milk or a coffee. The Chocolate Ring, which is what they call it, I'd give it a five out of five: nice and pillowy soft in the middle, nice and had a crisp outside to it, and the chocolate was nice and rich and dark.
