Fortune cookie (top left), chocolate chunk (bottom center), peanut butter (top right)
    Jessica W.

Chocolate chunk cookie: rich, delicious, with melty creamy chocolate combined with soft chewy body. Better than your grandmommas! Fortune cookie: positive fortune and delicious cookie overall. Intoxicating vanilla flavor released from this slightly chewy, wholly mouth watering treat. Palmier: addicting French pastry with a delicious flakey crunch, accompanied by a sugary caramel brine. Would eat 20 without hesitation. Peanut butter cookie: not the average dry peanut butter cookie we've all unfortunately become accustomed to. Perfect exterior peanut butter flavor and a creamy peanut butter interior. There are even tiny bits of peanut throughout.

I've been trying really hard to eat healthy lately, but when it comes to cookies... It's game on. Diet who? Don't know her. I visited Batch a week or so ago and had a lovely experience! It's conveniently located near Seattle University. There's plenty of cheap street parking too, which is a bonus. I had no issue finding a spot. I intended to just grab one or two but I pretty much grabbed one of everything they had in the case... Whoops! My favorites were the brownie, caramel chocolate chunk, and the peanut butter sandwich cookie. They were all moist, delicious, and not overly sweet. Highly suggest stopping by this shop for a delicious treat (or 5).

    Assorted baker's dozen!

Cashed in on my first Yelp Elite Perk of 2021 - a free cookie from Batch Baking Company! I had never heard of Batch before, and I was delighted to find that it was only five minutes away from my office. I went in with the intention of getting a few cookies... and a left with a dozen + my free cookie! I got an assorted dozen, which includes some of their staples like the Squareo (a homemade square-shaped cookies and creme cookie), the peanut butter sandwich cookie, and homemade fortune cookie (real fortunes included!). I've only tried the chocolate chunk and ginger snap cookies so far, but these cookies are DA BOMB. They are soft in the middle but perfectly crispy on the outside, and they hit you with a ton of different flavors in each bite. I'm especially excited to try the apricot palmier and caramel brownie. Thank you to Batch Baking Company & Yelp for the free cookie and Yelp swag, and happy (almost) one year anniversary to Batch! Can't wait to stop by again soon!

    Caramel chocolate chunk

Stopped by here after a good game of tennis to cancel out the benefit of any exercise I got - zero regrets. The caramel chocolate chunk was calling my name although the peanut butter sandwich also looked great. Will have to save that for next time. We got thorough explanations on each of the cookies and it sounds like they have a changing selection which is great because that just means more to try! The cookie was fantastic from first bite. Chewy with a crunch in all the right places, a sprinkle of salt to really bring out the flavors, the crackle of caramel and a gooey chocolate from the still-warm cookie. Ugh if only I could live on sweets.

    Vegan Chocolate Chip ($2)

DANNGG this place makes a mean cookie. Walked in to be greeted by the owners, one of then was scooping put fresh dough on the cookie sheets. I tried the vegan chocolate chip cookie ($2) and it was AMAZING. You really can't tell it's vegan. HUGE chunks of chocolate. Crispy buttery edges with slightly underbaked center. Not too sweet or big - the perfect size. Definitely am going to go back to try more :)

We came here for a Yelp benefit and left with a bag full o' cookies! This place is very cool and centrally located, right next to Seattle U. They make cookies, etc in small batches and appear to be continually making them throughout the day. We ended up buying a variety of cookies and a brownie and they all were delicious! My fave was the Caramel Chocolate Chunk Cookie and special call out to the striped fortune cookie for it's originality. Thank guys for being open during this pandemic and for practicing Covid safety protocols.

Peanut butter sandwich, salted caramel brownie, caramel chunk cookie

I never heard of this place until now, thanks to yelp :) its located near seattle university and I can see it being pretty popular with the students once this pandemic is over. I came here as part of a yelp elite perk for a free cookie but ended bup buying a few more to try because they look interesting: Peanut butter sandwich cookie - I'm usually not a fan of peanut butter cookie because they are usually not crispy or just not done right, but this cookie was beyond amazing. It is two perfectly crisp cookie on the outside filled with peanuts and smothered with smooth peanut butter inside. Definitely one of my favorite cookie. Caramel chocolate chip crunch cookie - another perfectly crisp cookie with a nice sweet and savory taste. I really like the subtle hints of crisps. Salted caramel brownie - my hubby loves brownie so I decided to get one and it's not my favorite to be honest. It's a little too dense for me but almost dry-ish. I definitely like the caramel in parts of the brownies though. The owners were super friendly and provided some info on the cookies. There was definitely a few more cookies I want to go back to try for sure (fortune cookie, palmier, squareo, etc).

The dough when I came home.

Some friends and I recently attended a focaccia baking class and it was wonderful! As an added bonus we also enjoyed some delicious cookies. During class, we were able to prepare and bake dough that the owner/instructor had previously started. In addition, we made our own dough and brought it home so we could immediately use the skills we just learned. None of us had much bread baking knowledge. It was a fun evening. Thank you, Jared!

OVERALL: 9.2/10 (Yelp Converted Score: 4.6/5, rounded to 5/5). I will note that my visit was due to the 2021 Yelp Elite Perk that I had, for a free cookie. I bought a full dozen on top of that, since we need to be supporting local businesses! 1) VARIETY/SELECTION: 8.5/10. I found it impressive that there were so many different options. A twist on the classic palmiere, an Oreo-equivalent, and your quintessential snickerdoodle & chocolate chip cookies were definite staples! 2) FRESHNESS: 9.5/10. It was awesome that I learned that they were baked that day, and that they have a continuous baking cycle throughout the day to ensure they have a fresh supply. I definitely felt that the cookies stayed fresh even a couple of days after I brought them home. 3) VALUE FOR MONEY: 8/10. The price was decent for what you get, but comparing against other baking companies (especially other cookie specialties), this place stands above average. The cookies definitely aren't massive, but they're manageable, albeit slightly overpriced. 4) SERVICE: 10/10. I was the only person in the lobby when it opened at 11am (someone entered as I was on my way out), and I was courteously greeted by someone upon entry. I have a peanut allergy, but the current batch only had walnuts/almonds in it (I am okay with both of those), and I didn't have a problem eating any of the cookies! (which means these folks were FANTASTIC at cleaning / separating out cooking apparatuses for dealing with allergens) 5) CONSISTENCY / FIRST IMPRESSION: 10/10. My first impression of this place was pretty solid - I really hope they stick to this high standard after the pandemic is over, and we're able to enjoy the ambience of this beautiful baking company store! I'm looking forward to coming here again to try out more flavours.

3 chocolate chunk, 1 Mexican chocolate (spicy), 1 marbled fortune cookie, 1 apricot filled palmier
    Eva M.

Wow. This place has excellent cookies! I hear they have great brownies and cookie sandwiches too. At the time I went, they were out of those. That's okay, I'll just have to return. Anyway, out of what is available, I chose 3 chocolate chunk, 1 Mexican chocolate (spicy), 1 "fortune cookie", 1 apricot filled palmier, and 1 vegan chocolate chunk cookie. I inhaled the last one without taking a picture. LOL. They are so good! Out of 7 cookies purchased, only 3 are left in a matter of hours. Oops! (In a good way) Seriously, I am definitely returning here. Their location is very convenient, across from Seattle University, on 12th, between First Hill and Cherry Hill. There are plenty of street parking nearby. There are lots of restaurants nearby. Be sure, to come by here before or after.

    Cindy I.

Very tasty cookies but they are a little small for the cost. Right now with less traffic due to Covid I am still inclined to support local businesses even with higher costs. The snickerdoodle was good, could've been a little bit more moist but I enjoyed the flavor. I also tried the brownie with caramel and again I thought it was good not overly rich. I think I liked the chocolate chunk caramel cookie the most but I am a sucker for brown butter. So I would definitely get that one again. That one does tend to be more on the sweet side so it wasn't my husband's favorite but he likes a different type of cookie than me.

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I will note that I haven't tried the breads, but as a non-morning individual, I do appreciate that they do tend to still have many items available even later in the afternoon (~1-3PM time frame). You will have to find street parking, but I've never had too much trouble in this neighborhood even on the weekend. Butter Croissant (3.75/5): I'll admit I'm insanely picky with my croissants and I think Sea Wolf's is just okay. I want a stronger crisp on the outside, something that almost shatters and makes a mess when you bite in, but the inside has a nice chew. Kouign Amann (3.75/5): I had a really fantastic time with this my first time picking it up, they have almost a crunchy sugar caramel crust on the outside with super buttery pastry inside. Unfortunately, my second time picking this up ended up being a miss, just stale and much to dry. Cinnamon Roll (1/5): The raisins are a nice touch, but this was awfully dry. Even the caramelized crus on the outside couldn't save this and charging extra for cream cheese frosting on top of a dry dough is criminal.
