This place is BRILLIANT! Their weekend brunch menu is magical (there's a steak and eggs benedict to die for). I've been primarily for dinner but I think they're open for lunch also. Mignon's is a Prime steakhouse, so their prices are on the higher side but it worth it both in the quality of the food and the fact that the higher prices have a tendency to dissuade the type of clientele that show up to dinner in cut off camo shorts and a sweat stained wife beater. Concerning the food, the cowboy ribeye is one of the best steaks I've ever had. I've also had their filet and have been impressed with all. They also typically have several off menu features that consistently rotate to keep things interesting. A few other things to try are their crab cake, the bone in filet if they have it, jalapeno au gratin potatoes. Lastly, if you are in to wine, the variety of wines on their wine list will floor you. We dined at Mignon on a Tuesday night. It was not crowded, music was playing and the atmosphere was quiet and nice. We started with calamari and escargot, both were very good. I had a Caesar salad, the dressing was good but salad came out uncut, which seems to be a popular way to serve these days, but not my favorite. The filets were very tender and flavorful. The cream corn and mashed potatoes were also very good. We ended with chocolate molton cake, very delicious and a creme brûlée, which was also delicious. Excellent meal. I have visited many restaurant in my life. I have to say this one was 10 stars out of 5, I ordered a file mignon and fragua and crab cake for appetizer. The fragua with the chocolate souse on a toast is out of this world, the portion is big and it just melts in your mouth, I have to say one of the best I had. The crab cake is all meet with the lobster bisque souse was amazing. Our 1st visit ever, we tried Mignon recently for Vday. Valet was pure chaos and the valet stated "I'll try to valet your car." Try??? We then sat in the bar waiting for our table, still watching our car outside, running, not being parked. We then get seated outside in their patio, which felt like a garage. Even with heaters it was freezing! My husband then had to grab a candle from another table because the waiter failed to do so. Food was meh. Price was so much more than expected. And then got food poisoning 2 hrs after the meal. No thanks!!! Won't be returning!!! read more

As always, the latest visit to Mignon is just as exquisite as the first! There's so much praise I want to heap on John and the entire staff for ensuring that every dining experience - from a casual Sunday brunch to an intimate wedding reception - goes above and beyond our expectations. The service is very attentive and genuinely pleasant, and the food... I could go on for days about how absolutely perfect the texture of the salmon is, the way the sherry jus makes you fall in love with roasted chicken all over again, and how you'll find yourself mopping up the garlic butter with freshly-baked bread long after you've inhaled the escargot. Just make sure to leave room for one of Mignon's superb desserts (I don't think you'll find a better crème brûlée in DFW). Though the restaurant has good food and I was looking forward to the visit for Mothers Day, they did not honor the special menu that they had on the website. When my husband made the reservation, he was asked if he wants to go with the special Mothers Day menu and he said "yes". So even the person taking the reservations was not aware it was Brunch only menu. The server told us it was for brunch only (the website didnt say that), and at 7:30pm, they have the Mothers Day menu framed in the ladies restroom on the counter (easily removable)....what was the point of that of having it displayed in the evening if it was for brunch only. So basically they made the mistake and we had to pay for it. I'm generally pretty generous and understand sometimes people make mistakes, but there wasnt even an offer of a complimentary appetizer or dessert for your error. Just "sorry". Again, food is good, but how they take care of your customers is not. By the way, it wasnt just us, it was also the table next to us that also questioned why they didnt honor the menu. read more

First time here and gravely disappointed. To be succinct: 1. Steaks ordered well done, came back less than medium, in a pool of blood. 2. Took 1 hour 15 minutes to get these undercooked steaks. 3. Ribeye was so well marbled, it was literally fat with bits of steak attached. 4. No ice, water ever refreshed from the time we arrived. 5. Waiter was nice, but was powerless to control the poor service environment. If a steakhouse cannot handle a full house on a Saturday night, it won't be full for much longer. P.S. I used my flashlight on my steak to check doneness, someone came by and said "that looks medium, how did you order it?" I answered "well done". He said oh well. Went tonight for the X-mas 3 course meal. I have been coming to Mignon for the last 15 years. Was disappointed in the portion size of the filet mignon (given the $70 plus tip cost per person), steak was ordered medium and it was more like rare. Shouldn't the filet mignon be outstanding in every way given it's the name of the establishment? I thought the value just wasn't there given the cost. We even got charged for the sodas. I hope this review and perhaps more like it will motivate a change by management in the value proposition. One last thing, the restaurant needs to updated with a new interior design and décor, furniture (chairs are old and wobbly), you would think with all the money they [should] be making, they'd reinvest in furniture, fixtures and the like. read more

The staff was very friendly and the outdoor dining view was lovely (minus the occasional flying bug). The restaurant was fairly empty for a Saturday night at 8pm. Worst Christmas Dinner I have every had in my 71 years. I was prepared and excited to have a elegant Christmas meal. Made reservation, was told sure we have room for 4 on 12/25 at 6pm...great, I feel so lucky. I was not told by Matr'd who took my reservation, twice, the standard menu would not be available. Not till we were seated were we told it was a buffet. Bummer, well we are here ..may as well enjoy, after all where else can we go last minute on Christmas day. So we walk out to the patio where a bunch of chafing dishes with mundane food are set up, no carving stations, no prime, no lobster, plus nothing special about the desserts either. Then I rec'd the bill, I was prepared to spend a hefty amount for a juicy filet, a succulent lobster, not 59.99 for a buffet that should have cost no more then maybe $20 bucks. Worst experience ever!!! The service was subpar. It took ten minutes for anyome to come to our table and when they finally came it was a busboy who filled our waters. Ten minutes later when our server finally came to our table he informed us that we could only order off a special ala carte menu which wasn't told to me when i made the reservation. The service was terrible and the quality of the food was awful. I paid $42 for a ribeye that looked and tasted like a burnt leather boot. We went in for Mothers Day after painstaking research to select a special place to dine. The ambience was nice enough but the positive attributes end there. Our food came out cold and missing ingredients. Our poor waiter had too many tables and was completely overwhelmed. We were given attitude for not wanting to pay upwards of $40 dollars for one of the entrees that was less than sub-par and freezing to boot. POOR MANAGEMENT!!! Feel sorry for the waiters that have to work in an environment trying to create a pleasant dining experience with managers that do not support their efforts. There is a reason the other restaurants in the area are ALWAYS PACKED while Mignon barely makes it!! The Managers are RUDE & UNFRIENDLY from the moment you arrive. They say they are French, but they are actually middle eastern. Arrogant and have very bad attitudes as if you are unworthy to be in their presence. The waiters really try to make up for it as much as they can though. They all are aware and make comments about the "Harsh" managers and apologize for their behaviors repeatedly. CRAB CLAWS: Tasted & Smelled OLD & FISHY (gross)! Fish should never be fishy, it is a sign that it is not being kept cold properly and could be going bad. Someone is going to get food poisoning! Black hairs found in our Calamari too! Ask for a medium rare filet and get it well done. Do Not Dare Mention that your food may be inaccurate or cooked wrong...the manager will come to the table and HUMILIATE YOU LOUDLY no matter how nice you are trying to be about it! (Scene from Seinfeld...soup nazi BUT WORSE!!!) There are no apologies, the manager will get loud and glare at you and tell you that there is nothing wrong and that you are the problem! They do not care. They will call you a LIAR instead of fixing the problem and making the dining experience pleasant again! I am not joking...and I have seen it in other reviews too...they have no shame, they will literally call you a liar! I would not trust that they are handling and storing the food properly and I would not trust that they are not recycling food that should be disposed of immediately. The best Option: NEVER GO THERE!!! EVER!!! There are too many wonderful places in the area, that strive to provide the best service and food....AND ACTUALLY CARE IF YOU COME BACK AND BRING YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!! NOT MIGNON! I can't ever imagine dining here again. We've been here many times over the years, and decided to try it again for my birthday. Where do I begin? $10 for a Skyy and soda??? we decided to order the mussels and I could smell them when I came out of the restroom...smelled so fishy like a lake, it was truly awful, we sent them back, I just couldn't believe that the person who prepared them, nor our waiter noticed. It almost ruined our appetite for the rest of the meal, but we moved on to steaks, which were ok, but not great. When the waiter brought our check, there wasn't an itemized bill, so we asked for one, and sure enough, the nasty fishy mussels were on the bill, along with extra drinks that we hadn't ordered. I'm not sure how this place stays open, there was only us and one other table there that night. The manager/owner was not accommodating when we brought these matters to his attention. It's too bad that it's come to this, they have one of the coolest locations in Plano. At this point, I just wish they would close, so something better can open in their spot. The atmosphere relies solely on the pond view, tables are much too close together for fine dining. Although the food was not terrible, the quality did not meet the price point. I was here for a group dinner for a friends birthday. I knew less than half the people there. A friend and I were going to share a tab. We let the server know when we ordered and he said he would take care of it later. When the bill arrived it was near $950 since we had a large group and gratuity was added. The server said at that time there was no way the bill could be separated. The majority of people that knew each other agreed to split everything evenly and if you had something small you could just put cash in. I hardly carry cash with me and I only had soup, salad and a glass of wine while the majority of people ordered entrees of steak or fish including salads, soup and glasses of wine. I would have had to contribute up to $80 when my meal cost maybe $30. It made it very awkward for the group of us that knew each other versus the other group of people. We were all there for one purpose. To celebrate our mutual friends birthday. My friend (whom I was sharing the tab with) grew irritable and was upset with the server. Admittedly, my friend could have handled it better. No voices were raised and no threats were made on either end. My friend did tell them it was terrible service which I agree. The server was VERY rude about it. He talked back to my friend saying he should have told him in the beginning (which he did) and stating that since people "moved chairs" or left the restaurant it was too much work or too confusing to split the check.That is ridiculous. My friend stood up to speak to him and the server instructed him rudely to have a seat. In the end, he was able to split checks for a few of us. So it was actually possible to do it. It was completely unnecessary, out of line and downright embarrassing. The second star was for the food because it wasn't bad but definitely not memorable. The tomato soup was really good. The grilled pear salad was pretty good as well. The white wine I tried was also good. I definitely will not be visiting this restaurant again. I have warned others of the service as well. After seeing this place off Preston for years my wife and I decided to go. We sat outside by the water. Very nice area. We ordered a cocktail and it was bad. We asked for some advice for another and our waiter told us the bartender was new and didn't know the drinks, which was the reason the first one was bad. We asked for advice on the food and he said everything's good, but I haven't eaten much here. However, he was very attentive and was at the table often. The food came and it was average at best. We ate everything and walked out hungry, unimpressed, and $100 lighter. I would definitely not recommend this place. read more

This was a $150 (for 2) BAD experience. Thanksgiving day 2019 buffet. We had a reservation for 7. I called two days earlier and confirmed they were seating until 8. We got there at 6:45. The rolls were hard as hockey pucks. The salads were soggy. The butternut squash soup was flavorful but lukewarm at best. The entrees and sides were NOT GOOD, barely warm, and it was obvious everything had been sitting out too long. Did I mention they started breaking down the buffet at 7:30? I actually had to get up from our table and ask them to stop. Then at 7:45 they started running some very loud piece of equipment in the kitchen. Sounded like a basket of silverware being stuck down a garbage disposal. The GM was standing around looking at us and the other two tables like "Are you gone yet?" As others have said this used to be a wonderful restaurant. All that remains of that is the lovely decor. But Mignon is deserving of no stars anymore. The restaurant should lose its lease by virtue of its terrible and expensive food.. It is an embarrassment, and its owners should be embarrassed to be charging anything. We stopped here as I recalled how good Mignon had been on occasion years ago. . Those days are gone, and now the restaurant is worthy of an episode of ".Kitchen Nightmares." The service could best be described as passive aggressive. When i asked for fresh glasses of iced tea, I got an argument that it was the same tea the waiter had been drinking all day and tasted fine to him. We shared a special of heirloom tomato and mozzarella cheese salad, and indeed the tomatoes appeared to have been handed down through 5 generations. The cherry tomatoes surrounding it , were wrinkly, old and tasteless. No restaurant should think to serve produce this old . My beef borginoine was tender, but was destroyed by an off putting sauce. My girlfriend's steak, was tough as an old shoe with another terrible sauce, and cost $44.00. We had to get desert and coffee at Breadwinner;s across the shopping center. That was great! Stay away from Mignon. Simply put, it is awful. . This place needs to close, until such time as the ownership can afford to run it properly. read more

Went here (Mignon) on December 11, 2015, for my birthday and everything was amazing. The whole staff is friendly and they always had a smile on their face ready to help you, they are also very knowledgeable. There was a big group there for their Christmas party but that did not slow down the service or time for our food to arrive. The bacon wrapped quail was heaven, just melted in your mouth. Two of us ordered the tomahawk, which is a 32oz bone in rib eye, perfect birthday dinner. I also tried a piece of the filet, that others orders, and the quality of meat is superb. After our experience I won't be waiting a year for my birthday to be heading back to Mignon. They have an extensive wine list and the Cabernet Sauvignon we paired with the steaks was a perfect choice and reasonably priced. Definitely going back soon........ read more

I had to let a little time pass before I wrote this. I was in this establishment with a lady friend a few weeks ago. There was a party of elderly people who i think were from some kind of assisted living center. Anyway, there was some kind of ruckus where I think the manager was pitching a fit about separate checks. What kind of restaurant does that? We finally decided to leave. As the old folks left at about the same time, the manager and the bartender were screaming...SCREAMING at the older customers. If you will treat honored elders this way...I don't want to find out how you will treat me and my companions? NEVER going back. If you guys read this, I'll drop $100 to $200 on a fine dining experience at least once a month. I won't ever be spending my hard earned money with you guys. My advice? TREAT YOUR ELDERS BETTER! We dined on the patio here and it was lovely. It backs up to a pond with a fountain so it's nice to see something other than a parking lot. We had the brussell sprout fritters, very good. We did not have a great experience. We attended the Valentine's Day dinner which had 3 items for a fixed price. The choices looked great. It took a while to get our waiter and drinks. We placed our order and the salads were good. While we were halfway through the meal our dinners came out. For $79 a person we didn't expect to get the entrees so quickly. They took them back and remade them. My steak was great and my wife's sea bass was overcooked. The waiter never asked about our meal so we told him it was not good. He did not offer to fix anything. The meal on Labor Day was lovely, and we're glad they made the patio "glassed in" with air-co now so that you can sit out there and not be bothered by our Texas heat. And you can still see the pond view. Nice. The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed the excellent, varied menu. (And I don't think it's overly-priced like many steakhouses are. Not cheap, but not outrageous as many are.) The only reason I'm not giving it 4 stars is the atmosphere. The music being piped in was very dated...some kind of 1950's music which was not at all elegant or relaxing. All the singing was very shrill and made it hard to hear our guests talk. They did turn it down when we asked them to, which was kind, but the music selection was very poor for such a nice place. Background music should be that: in the background. My advice to Management: stream Pandora for FREE with a more trendy, updated selection such as "Paul Hardcastle Radio", Smooth Jazz Radio, Acoustic New Age Radio, Jazzmasters Radio, or New Age Instrumental. Anything but what they had playing would be a better compliment to the excellent food, pretty dining room, and nice patio. read more
