My experience at Mignon was a lot better than what I am reading on this page. I dined with my fiance and it was our anniversary, the ambiance was very romantic and serene. Our server was very professional, efficient and knowledgeable. I was surprised at the vast selection of wine, and the '07 St. Clement Sauvignon Blanc was amazing. The service was good and the food was delicious! The prime frilled filet "Oscar" was cooked perfectly with the richest flavors! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back for more! read more

I visited the restaurant Mignon located at 4005 Preston Rd, Plano, TX on March 16 from my birthday. This was to be a birthday gift to myself. I would go to a fine restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal. My visit started out very well. The restaurant had a nice décor. The manager greeted me with a smile. He introduced himself. I do not know his name. He was from Lebanon. However, from this point until I left my visit to Mignon was a series of disappointing events. After introducing himself the manager was curious to know from which country and city I came. I replied, "It is Russia." He quietly said, "I remember you were here with your daughter." He then disappeared. This did not make any sense. I figured he must have mistaken me for someone else. So, I ignored what he said for two reasons. First, I do not have a daughter. Second, This is my first time visiting this restaurant. When the server came to take my order, I said, "I am a vegetarian, but sometimes I can have fish." I then asked if did they serve fresh fish, because not I said, "I had better leave." He assured me that everything served is fresh. All his menu suggestions were for cheap items. He repeatedly said, "Order this one. This is the cheapest." I found this to be very rude. I ordered the salmon and a glass of wine, Sauvignon blanc. The glass given to me contained only a very small amount of wine. It looked like a tester. I asked the server why the glass contained so little wine. He said my order was for 6 oz. This was embarrassing and upset me. Half of a large glass is 6 ounces but my glass had only a small amount at the bottom. This was nowhere close to 6 oz. The wine also tasted strange, not like Sauvignon blanc. I did not complain and ignored it. The wine in my glass I learned was a mixture of various wines from other glasses. I experience severe headaches, an allergic reaction, when different wines are mixed . Since I was hungry, I decided to order an appetizer while I waited. No one ever asked how everything was going or it I needed anything ,otherwise. The manager immediately brought me fried calamari. I was impossible to chew. It had no taste or smell. It was like it was two weeks old. It was totally inedible. I was able to eat the jalapenos, however. When the salmon finally did arrive, I immediately knew if was not fresh. Again, I did not complain. I tried eating, but after a couple of bites I decided to leave and take the rest in a To-Go box. I asked for the receipt, along with not being charged for the calamari. I explained to the manager I would pay for everything legitimate. I would not pay the $14.00 for calamari requested. It could be classified as food, plus the server took it away(Probably for the next customer). It would tough and totally inedible. I would also not pay for the $9.00 requested for an unnamed mystery item. My guess it was the bread. Especially, since I am already being forced to pay $14.00 for a glass which contained an inadequate amount of wine that was a mixture from other peoples' glasses. In addition, I am paying $21.00 fro salmon that was not fresh an was served with canned corn. In response to all of this the manager from Lebanon said," You are all Russians. The same." Even though, I took the salmon with me, I was unable to eat it. I suspect and would not be surprised if the manager from Lebanon spit on it. So, I just put it in the trash to be safe. So, instead of a nice gift to myself where I go to a fine restaurant and leave having enjoyed a delicious meal. I left Mignon not only extremely disappointed, but also with a severe headache and very hungry. read more

this is one of those places that has a ton of potential (financially). Owners that work the place and really care. it's a little over pricey. food is five star, simply must have a great chef to turn out sensational food they offer. simply everything I've tried is superb. Decor is superb, dimly lit and a great view of the fountain for dinning, great patio . could be as good as Steve Fields . not necessarily a place for the kid s. (which, I personally like..I've raised three sons). :) not a place for everyday dinning (unless your wealthy and don't care about how tight your britches get). There is an up_charge of $7.50 if you want to split an entree! This turns me into a "have a couple of appetizers" and go next door for dinner", if it's a work week day. oh, and personally, .....they really need some fine art behind the bar, that stupid picture of a ~ French clock is horrible and wasted space. Maybe something upscale, consignment? (support the arts)! lack of parking constricts this place from doing the business they could. you have no choice but to valet which is typical for the clientele this place should and does draw. it's there, but it's not professional. drive the suburban, leave the plush wheels at home unless you don't mind being parked with the general public and door dings. read more

Mignon is absolutely phenomenal. I have had almost everything on menu and it is always fantastic. My favorites are the Filet Oscar, Watermelon Salad, Shrimp Louie Salad and the Lobster Bisque. Read the mixed reviews online and was skeptical, despite that fact, i booked a table for valentine's day for me and my girlfriend requesting a romantic booth. We were pleasantly surprised. The place was packed but after only a 5 minute wait- we were early- we were sat in one of their two round circular booths. I was surprised they remembered. Mignon is one of my new favorites! A few friends of mine came in town last weekend and I wanted to take them somewhere nicer for dinner and wine. The waiter helped us pick out a good bottle of white wine to start with. It was a Chardonnay and I believe it was called Flowers. Regardless, he did a great job because we all loved it! Food wise, we started with the Calamari.. which was awesome!!! Sometimes Calamari can be real chewy or unflavorful, but we ALL loved it there. I got the Sea Bass for my entree..and it was ever better. I'm really into flavor..and the sea bass didn't lack it at all. Seriously..one of the best sea bass dishes I've ever had. Everyone else was very happy with their food too. Several of my friends got steaks, and they all loved them. I don't recall what EVERYONE got..but there were no complaints at our table. As far as I know everyone seemed to love their food. It was delish and the service couldn't have been better. Bad service can really ruin a restaurant for me and Mignon met all my standards. Oh..and the atmosphere is great too. The location is really pretty. I definitely recommend Mignon. I can be picky and I RARELY give 5 stars...but Mignon really did impress me. Simply fabulous. Having never written a review before I went to the trouble of creating a yelp account just to spread the news about this charming little restaurant. Can not say enough wonderful things about the food. My filet was tender and buttery. I asked for extra bread to soak up what little foie gras sauce I left on my plate. Not as well known as other steakhouses in the area, but just as great, if not better. Hurry and go before the news spreads and we have to wait for tables! read more

My husband, his family and myself went to celebrate his graduation. The graduation celebration was mentioned in the reservation, but never acknowledged by the restaurant. My husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law ordered one of the "specials" - Beef Wellington. When the food was delivered, everyone's beef was cooked well done, in spite of it being ordered medium, or medium minus. When our server came back over, she immediately acknowledged that dish is supposed to be cooked / served medium and that what we had was well done. My father-in-law didn't want to wait for another meal, but my mother-in-law and husband sent theirs back. By the time they got their second dinners, everyone else at the table was done. My mother-in-law said hers was "better but still not good". My husband bit into his and discovered it was ice cold (retribution for complaining?). He immediately approached the manager, who's attitude was unconcerned at best. We continued with our meal and when we got the bill, I approached the manager about having at least 2 of the Beef Wellingtons removed (of the 3 we received, no one ate more than a few bites). What a great restaurant! My boyfriend and I had not visited Mignon in a few years because his job had taken us out of the Plano area. We went to Brunch with family on Sunday and the food was incredible. Our family had the Blueberry Waffles with whip cream and maple syrup as well as the Crab Cake Benedict, French Toast and the Smoked Salmon with Poached Eggs. The food was fabulous and the service was among the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back and we will tell our local friends and family about it as well. read more

I've been going to Mignon ever since they opened and keep coming back. The Chilean Sea Bass is the best I've ever had, as are the crab cakes. I love the patio during patio season, the bar is quaint and the service is very personable. The Bartenders are very attentive and typically start my drink (the best Vodka Martini) as I walk in the door. For more casual fare, you can't beat the chicken sandwich or the stuffed jalepenos! We had 7:00 reservations for Christmas dinner. They sat us late, ran out of bread, soup, and bread pudding. Service was also horrible. There was no break on price even though they ran out of food. For the price you pay here this is unacceptable. read more

My family has a tradition of having Christmas dinner at Mignon's. The menu was nearly the same as last year, which is good, because we really like the menu. Two of us had the 8 oz. filet mignon, and two had the 16 oz. ribeyes. The filets were so tender you could cut them with a fork. The ribeyes were very flavorful, and came with truffled potato wedges, which were very good. The wine list is rather extensive, so ordering a good wine to go with the meal was rather easy. For dessert, the chocolate cake was decadent. We liked the dinner so much that my wife and I went back on New Year's Day. She had the lobster bisque and the filet again. I ordered specials, namely the salad caprese and Cobia, a fish I rarely see on menus. The meal was outstanding again. The filet was as tender as it was on Christmas. The Cobia filet was the thickest and best I have ever had (and I go out my way to get Cobia), and the sauce was right on. On both nights the service was quite professional, especially on New Year's day. We are looking forward to our next visit, and we will continue our Christmas tradition. read more

We had a confirmed reservation with them for our anniversary. A rehearsal dinner party had reserved the patio. They changed their minds on the day of the reservation and wanted to come inside. So we were called and our confirmed reservation was cancelled. Six hours before its time. The patio is covered and enclosed so even with cloudy skies it should not have been an issue. What a horrible night at this place. Went there Friday night June 13, for an an evening on their patio. At 11 o'clock they fired up a band that was so obnoxiously loud we couldn't hear each other. With the food being average quality at a high price, this just ensured we will never be back. Complained to the GM and he smugly brushed us off. The place is obviously losing business and is trying to create something to compete with their neighbors who are doing well. We decided to try something new for dinner and had heard about Mignon from co-workers. We had reservations for 7:30 and were seated right away. We were seated at a table for 4 even though there were just 2 of us. The waiter brought a wine list and specialty drink menu then gave us a couple minutes to look it over. That was the start of a very enjoyable dinner. Everything was timed to where we didn't feel rushed or have to wait between courses. The salads were beautiful, highly recommend the heirloom tomato and mozzarella. Our steak and sea bass were some of the best we have ever had. Took my 73 year old mother here for Christmas dinner. She got food poisoning. Thanks Mignon for a really bad Christmas gift. She was violently ill for hours and hours. This looked like a good restaurant. The server suggested the lunch special...Halibut. It was okay. I dine out a lot and I can't say it even made it into my top 30. When I received the bill for lunch, the lunch special was $35.00!!!! Then add on the more expensive glass of wine the host "sold" me on, A lunch special for $35 dollars. I really wanted to like this place but it came up very short. Three of us went on Christmas Eve. The service and ambience was great but the food was not. It was a Prix Fixe menu at $65+. With the tip it was around $325. For that, I expect much more than was delivered. The appetizers and desert were decent. My daughter ordered the lamb chop. While not the best she ever had it was good. My wife ordered a filet. It was also decent but not spectacular. The MAJOR problem was my order. I ordered the ribeye. It truly was one of the toughest most bland steaks I have ever been served at a restaurant. It was just plain bad. It was worse than Golden Coral. I have had better steaks from Tom Thumb. Overall, VERY DISAPPOINTING. I did not eat much of it and the waiter did ask if I wanted something else, but I chose to move on. We came into Mignon's for a special Anniversary last week for our first visit. Mignon's patio could be rated as one of the best in Dallas. The ambiance was wonderful and the patio overlooks a pretty waterfront and it's peaceful and romantic for special occasions. The service and food were most excellent! Our server was very prompt and informative on the daily Chef Specials and cocktails. We started our dinner with specialty Martinis and the Mussels. My husband had the Bone- In Filet and I had the fresh Seafood (Cobia) for our entrees. The food was top notch and we will definitely be back to Mignon's! I was so exciting to go to French Restaurant for my Birthday. What's a disappointed for a 5 stars rated. End up with a high bill ($150 without wine). I have to say that the service is top notch. Very friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful setting, and great music played softly while you eat. For what we paid for our food, I was not as impressed as I have been at other steak restaurants I've been at. Please keep in mind I am not telling you, you shouldn't try it. You may like it. But for my husband and I, we were just like ehhh.....disappointed it wasn't what we were expecting. To help you in your decision making process, you need to know a few facts. First and most important it is a French style steakhouse. So if you have never had it, beware. If you don't care for French sauces, dressings, extra then this isn't the place you want to choose. If price is an issue....this place will eat through your wallet very quickly. We had a 3 course meal option for $50 a piece, for customer appreciate month(which we knew and were okay with before we choose the place) and my husband had a soda(almost $4 for a bottle of Dr. Pepper). Out the door with 15% tip, close to $130. The first course of our meal was a salad choice. I had the wedge salad. Literally a half a head of lettuce(the half cut in half), a couple slivers of red onion and one little grape tomato with their house salad on it. Which I am still burping up. :-/ I did not care for the dressing but did choose to eat most of it, as not to waist it. Looked like tarter sauce. LOL!!! Again some people may like this kind of stuff, me and my spouse did not. He had the lobster bisque and did like that. I had a Mignon that was very tender and moist with mashed potatoes that was very good. I chose not to have their brandy sauce mixture that went on the potatoes and asked for it on the side as I knew I would not care for it. The desserts were just ok. 70's decor with business tiled ceiling, ugly light fixtures. Played classic rock, which I like, but in an upscale restaurant it was surprising to hear Sweet Home Alabama. Not crowded. French onion soup was good. Salads were OK, $9 for white iceberg lettuce with flavorful walnuts on them. One in our party ordered lemonade and was given a plastic bottle of Country Time Lemonade. The sea bass was excellent, the steak excellent, the trout, so-so, more breading than fish and micro thin. The side of au gratin potatoes was literally 3 thin slices of a small diameter potato and nothing special. Service was good. But the men who worked there were dressed slovenly. No uniform, just wrinkled dress shirts and worn slacks, including managers. The chocolate mousse cake was the exact dessert I've picked up in Kroger's deli (so exact, it had to come from the same place). It was ok, but for $35-60 per person, you expect more than plastic bottles and Kroger cake. This is why Pappadeaux's and Salt Grass have long lines, and Mignon was almost empty. read more

We chose to sit in the covered, outside dining area overlooking the nice pond. For a Friday evening, there were not that many people in the restaurant. We were greeted with a very large drink menu...no food menus. I asked for a food menu and the server said "We give the drink menu first, that's how we do it here." Soon I was looking around and one of the servers knocked me in the head as he was walking by. He apologized, but it did shock me. I wasn't going to have that ruin the night. Right after our appetizer, It started to rain, but unfortunately the cover (that was quite extensive and obviously expensive) had holes in it and our table was right under the worst area, dirty water from the canvass actually landing on us. It was enough water that even the other diners noticed. We got up to move to the next table over, no help from the staff. The food was adequate, but nothing to rave about. The music was strange and kind of loud, almost annoying...you would think it would be themed with the restaurant, but it was a mix of oldies, pop, and anything in between. I had two glasses of wine. When we got our final bill, the credit card amount was different than the itemized bill. I have to admit I was pretty annoyed by that point. The server did not give an explanation, and I thought I've pretty much had enough, so I totaled the credit card receipt without the tip. Got up and walked out. My husband stopped and spoke to a staff person, and soon the waiter was out the door after us saying he wasn't trying to screw us, he forgot to ring up the second glass of wine. It was pouring at this point and the parking lot was so packed from the other establishments, we had to walk quite a ways. Disaster night! Wouldn't recommend this place at this point. read more

Me and my husband went to Mignon for a second time with high expectations. Our first visit for lunch had been a success so we made reservations for Valentine's Day. We are rarely able to get away just the two of us for a nice quiet dinner so to say we were excited would be an understatement. Well, the night was a nightmare. We had a reservation for dinner at 7:15. We waited an Hour for our drinks. Yes, you read that right, an HOUR! The rest of the restaurant seemed to be getting service faster so we decided to keep reminding our server thinking he was the only problem. Two hours after we had arrived we had still not gotten our entree after several excuses about how slow the kitchen was so I went to find the manager. I had tried to flag down an employee for approximately 30 minutes prior but no one would make eye contact. When I got up to go find him I explained that we had been waiting so long. Our food was expedited but there was never an apology from any of the staff. Because our evening was taking so long we decided to get our dessert to go. The check was never discounted and still no apology as we exited the restaurant to finish our meal at home. When we arrived home we opened our dessert to find it was not even what we ordered. Go figure!! At this point we aren't shocked. I called back to the restaurant and spoke with Nick Natour and he said that he doesn't care about unhappy customers on holidays. He has no intention of trying to make this right and still would not apologize. He told me that it's my fault for waiting to complain. I know what you are thinking, this guy is a complete A**! Well, you couldn't be more accurate. He doesn't care at all about customers only his bottom line and I will make sure I tell anyone who will listen why they should never put money in this mans pocket. read more

Phenomenal! My boyfriend and I had never been to Mignon prior to Saturday and after our experience we will now be regulars. The patio dining is absolutely gorgeous, such an alluring ambiance, it made for a very romantic evening. The food was delicious, we started with mussels and they were awesome. For main courses I had the Fillet Oscar which was definitely the best steak I have ever eaten, the entire dish was so flavorful and just overall yummy and my boyfriend had the Fillet Mignon, they were so tender and I knew immediately that this place only buys the best of the best for their restaurant. The meats were perfect, from the seasoning to being perfectly cooked to order. We couldn't decide on a dessert so we shared the creme brulee and bread pudding, they were both so Delicious, I still will never be able to decide upon just one. Oh, and the wine list, they have so many amazing wines, my boyfriend is in love with red blends which they had plenty of, which also impressed him. It was an awesome experience, our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I have already recommended Mignon to all my friends, it's fabulous. We are going to try their brunch this weekend, the menu looks incredible and if it's the same caliber as their dinner I know it will be amazing. I am working in Plano for a couple months and have been checking out the restaurants in the area. Mignon is a gem! I dined at the bar, by myself. The service was perfect. Whitney the bartender was very friendly and called me by name the entire evening. To start I had the foie gras, seared to perfection and served with brioche and port onion marmalade. The sommelier recommended an Ice wine to pair with it. It really enhanced my meal. Next was the arugula, beet and goat cheese salad, the salad was fresh and the fried goat cheese was very tasty. One of my favorite French dishes is beef bourguignon, I had it and was not disappointed. Finally was the raspberry mousse cake, rich mousse, cookie crust and full of raspberry! The owner, Nick stopped by near the end of my meal, we started chatting and he gave me a tour of the entire restaurant. I have been a Chef for over 16 years at Ruth's Chris, The Capital Grille and Daniel's Broiler so I am very familiar with what a perfect dining experience should be, this was perfect. read more

Made Christmas Day lunch reservations here, (3rd year) worst food experience ever at this restaurant for the money. Three course meal for $69 per person. The waitress seamed as though she should have been waiting at the Waffle House, and not a fine dinning restaurant. Her hair was a mess, and she seemed as if she did not want to be serving anyone. She was very demanding, short and seemed to be overwhelmed. When we placed our order and she brought our first course out she slammed each plate down on the table reaching across over everyone at the table, very rude! The stuffed qual was cold appeared to have been prepared ahead of time and sitting under a heat lamp. We then received our second course all ordered filet mignon, each one ordered the exact same temp; however all came out cooked (appeared to have been prepared ahead of time) differently, mine was raw, bleeding on the plate. I asked for it to be cooked the way I ordered it "well done", the waitress crabbed it up as if it were a plate of waffles and said she would be right back, no less than two minutes I was brought another steak that was tough, chewy and plain disgusting. To say the least, I have had a much better experience and steak at the Out Back Steak House! Never will I go back to Mignon, sadly in the past this was truly my go to place, not anymore. There are much better places in Dallas than this slop house, they call a three course fine dining experience. read more

Mignon is one of my favorite restaurants in the metroplex. I love to eat out and I have found no place, in my opinion, that hits it out of the park in all areas like this classy French steakhouse. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is elegant and I love how the owner greets us at the door and makes a point to personally thank us as we leave. I've been a customer for over a year and this review is well past due. I was shocked to see any negative reviews.. I've introduced several others to this place, had my birthday party here and recently had them cater an important business event for me, and all went perfectly. Everyone I know who has experienced Mignons has loved it! I think people are more likely to write a review when they have had a bad experience and take for granted when they've had a good experience, because we expect it. So let me set the record straight.
