They have halal steaks that they source from a particular farm. The waiter mumbled so badly even though I'm hard of hearing I couldn't understand a word he was saying, but when I checked with a 30 year-old sitting next to me, whether he understood what he was saying or not he also said that he couldn't understand & that he just politely nodded. Ordered the lamb, Mynd you of everything we ordered? it was the most expensive at $75. the waiter never asked at what temperature I wanted it. I had to catch him on another round of drinks at the table to inform him of medium rare. The presentation was horrendous just literally thrown on the plate with no presentation apparently in mynd - plus? I had 6 lamb chops & there's typically 8 in a rack of lamb so they kept the 2 end pieces. If that wasn't enough of a disappointment? The lamb chops were literally a 1/4 inch thick, which doesn't make any sense because as a former chef being quite familiar with rack-of-lamb preparation? any type of lamb is usually at least a finger width thick or 1/2 inch thick at the very least (normally 3/4" thick), not a meager 1/4 inch thick. As I said, the presentation was absolutely horrendous. Nothing was fanned out or shingled. You would think for $75 I would get something more than just flung on a plate haphazardly lamb chops. It was traumatizing. It's almost as if they cooked it incorrectly & then shaved it off in order to get the medium rare aspect, keeping the nice endcap pieces for their own consumption. Absolutely disappointed. I'm never ever ever never going back again. It's dying a slow death that it absolutely deserves as a business. Save your time, disappointment & your money by going to Al Biernat's or III-Forks..... hell even Chamberlain's is better because of the cigar bar next-door at least. Wow! We found this restaurant on Resy when looking for somewhere to celebrate my husbands birthday. Brion was our server and was phenomenal! I really appreciated his recommendations and service. The food though. Wow. Top notch! We started with the bacon flight that came highly recommended and I can see why! It was absolutely divine (unless you don't like bacon and then you wouldn't like it haha) For the main courses I got the Lobster Agnolotti which was probably one of the best lobster pasta dishes I've had! That's almost always one of my go to Italian dishes so that's saying a lot. And they included CHUNKS of lobster which was delicious. My husband got the 45 day dry aged strip (he's a NY strip guy) and he said it was chock full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We added the mashed potatoes and avocado fries to round out the dinner. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had at a restaurant and the avocado fries were crispy and refreshing all at the same time. I do wish the avocado was salted a little more but that may be personal preference. For dessert we shared the vanilla creme brulee which was equally amazing compared to the rest of the menu! I want to be clear that this place is very expensive, almost comically, but we were celebrating my birthday and I been wanting to eat at Knife for years. So here we are. It was a quiet Monday night and it felt like we had the restaurant to ourselves. The dim lighting provides a very moody ambiance, kinda felt a little throwback to the rat pack era. You always forget what exceptional service actually looks like until you come to a restaurant a Knife. Our host, waiter, and bartender were all top tier. Quick shout out to our bartender for making some exceptionally tasty and balanced cocktails. The bread basket to me was an interesting flex. It was kind of off-putting when our waited arrived at our table with this massive basket of bread for our choosing. All the bread was fantastic but I would avoid the biscuit. Even though it was good, it wasn't hot and no one wants a room temperature biscuit. The Mac and Cheese for me was almost great. The quality of the pasta was good as was the flavor of the cheese. However the cheese sauce was broken in my mac and cheese. This happens when you incorrectly reheat a cheese sauce. I could taste where the cheese actually separated from the sauce and it created a grainy texture. The sleeper side was the roasted okra! Our waiter even said not many people order it and it's a restaurant favorite. It was soooo gooooood and not slimy for all you okra haters. Now for the main event. We ordered the 45 Day Aged 44 Farms Rib Eye medium rare. So was the steak delicious, yes. Was it $145 declious? Meh not quite. The best part was the bites of the crispy edges on the exterior of the steak. What an epic bite of food. However, it was still cold in certain parts, and yes I realized it was ordered medium rare, but a cooked steak shouldn't be served cold unless that's how you want it. The bartender didn't know the name of the wine and we pointed it on the menu for them to bring it up. They then proceeded to break the cork as they opened it. But luckily none got in the bottle. We asked for bread with the wine, got a slice each of walnut bread and never again were asked if we wanted more. We got two steaks and two sides. One of the steaks was so salty it was hardly edible. The mushroom side was awesome. The fries, meh. The other steak was nicely cooked but it didn't wow us. We took some home for our pup to share. Our pact was, he selects meat, I select dessert. I saw a chocolate hazelnut mousse on the menu. Turns out it was a organe sorbet with a hazelnut mouse like log, that barely tasted of any hazelnut mousse. I had a bite and passed it on to the husband. Long story short, I would rate the service a 1.5/5, the food a 2.5/5 and overall experience/value for money totally not worth it. The stand outs were the bacon tasting (5 varieties) and the 240 days dry aged steaks. The steaks were perfectly cooked medium rare, nicely charred on the outside, really tender inside with bold flavors from the dry aging process. Our mistake was actually ordering too much that we couldn't fully appreciate the star of the show (the steaks) and had to take some home (which made for a great lunch the next day). What's also excellent was the service. We had Jordan, who was knowledgeable with the dishes. We asked many questions...from appey, to sides, to the steaks. Jordan provided recommendations based on our preferences and checked in on us often. When our friend asked more detailed questions on the wine selection, Jordan immediately offered to bring Grant, the beverage director, to come help us with his recommendations to select a bottle of wine, again asking questions to understand the customer's preference (which was a great conversation). This is one review where I would truly like to start with the service. We were greeted by an extremely friendly maitre d who acknowledged our special occasion and got the evening off to a great start. The real fun began when our server, Jordan, came to say hello. He was an absolute professional and had a great knowledge of every dish. He really enhanced our experience and in this day and age of overall declining service it was a real treat to have Jordan with us. We started with the Bacon flight. You can absolutely tell the difference in taste between the different types of Bacon on offer and the Bacon Jam is superb. We also had the Bone Marrow and Caviar and while tasty, I felt the bacon was a clear winner. We went with the 90 day aged Strip as our main and despite being aged 90 days it had a nicely restrained "funk" which enhanced the meat. We also had the Bolognese Pasta which was very well prepared. As for sides, we went with the Spinach, Fries, and Mac and Cheese. The spinach was less creamy than at other establishments but I attribute this to Knife using fresh spinach instead of frozen. We had the Banana Dulce dessert and it was quite interesting. The Bourbon bananas were a highlight for sure. The Panna Cotta was very set, while the flavor was still great I would have preferred a softer set preparation. Had a great experience here last month with the family! Started with champagne, definitely can't go wrong there. I loved that they brought out complimentary crudite, which btw was so good. We also ordered the 240 Dry Aged Carpaccio as an appetizer and it was so good. It was perfectly dressed and very tender. We also got the Charcuterie Board which my husband and I loved but perhaps a bit too exotic for the kids. For dinner we ordered filet mignon (one was a bit overcooked but not worth sending back) and brussel sprouts and the truffle pasta. Pretty solid steakhouse next to the Willow Bend mall. Knife's specialty is dry aged meats and they feature numerous options in that department (even one that has been aged for 240 days). Knife isn't super showy like some of the other steakhouses in Dallas, rather, the emphasis is placed on the symphony of meats offered, with options such as bacon, charcuterie, and of course, the steaks. Overall, I left impressed but not wowed. The charcuterie board was great, the steak was cooked well, service was friendly and accommodating (though they forgot to give us butter when we asked). Without a doubt, I experienced the best steak I've ever had here at Knife. I was fortunate to be invited to a party in the private dining space. The space was beautiful but our party of 16 happened to be there when another party of about 25 were also present, therefore we shared the space with them. Needless to say, the noise level was HIGH. I wondered why the restaurant didn't simply seat us in the dining room as it was pretty empty that evening. We started with the bacon tastings. Very tasty but because of the noise or the number of people in our group, I didn't know what the 5 different bacons were, therefore could not really appreciate them. My side of the table had the oysters which were fresh and medium sized. My favorite appetizer was the yellowtail. The combo of yellowtail with grapefruit and sriracha was epic. BUT the 45 Farms filet mignon was magnificent. The crust was a beautiful brown and perfectly charred. Combine the crust with melt- in -your- mouth tenderness and stunning flavor in each bite and this steak is worthy to be a Last Meal. The wild mushrooms scrumptiously rounded out each bite. The restaurant is also beautiful appointed, see pics. It's a perfect ambiance for date nite. The bar also looked inviting to linger at. We had a tour and saw where the beef is dry-aged (for up to 240 days!). Everything is butchered in house, including the tuna and salmon. Spicy meatballs: Waiter said 6 come in an order. Only 5 came in the serving. Menu said spicy. Not at all. Meat a little tough and bland. Sauce was like jar marinara. Disappointed. Wedge salad: what would you expect to see....a wedge of lettuce- yes? It's really a chopped salad. Disappointing. Good taste. We came here for my husband's birthday a while ago. The place is real nice, our waiter was amazing, pricing was normal to most nice steak houses. We ordered the bacon tasting... which was pretty good, and a Caesar salad, which was also good. My husband got a filet and I ordered the lamb. It was cooked to my liking and was really tasty. We have always gone to Knife in Dallas, last night was our first time to Knife Plano. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere, wait staff are very attentive, food is phenomenal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the butter poached lobster and filet au poivre. Both were exceptional. But! I miss the small peppermint and gummies AND the muffins for the morning that Knife Dallas did. Both of those final touches I am sad they don't have at Knife Plano. For a high end steakhouse this place is mediocre at best.
