    Shrimp tacos

Shrimp Tacos 8.2/10 - slightly dry shrimp/cabbage Cabbage topping was great and the salsa was top tier. Also ordered the guacamole and chips, chips were a bag of Tostitos. Guac was great, but would've loved a better chip option. Order to food time was really quick, great place if you are grabbing something on the go.

It's the blue building FYI -- don't go to the cyan building with the white door as shown in some of the older photos ---that's their location. This building is the one right off the road coming in from mainland - beside the dauphin Island store. Solid 3.5 stars. Food came quickly. Service was friendly. Easy stop and go but they also have a single picnic table outside to eat at. Fish had good flavor--tad salty but still good. Nothing special or different about the food - but it's a great option in a small town where there isn't much to choose from. Guacamole portion is good- chips are bagged Tostitos.

If you're looking for a local chipotle-like place, this is it. Their menu is small but mighty. It's a little hidden gem right next to the Beach Planet, and they served up a tasty burrito bowl. The steak I got was a bit salty, but that's my only complaint! I can't wait to go back for other items.

A great way to start our vacation. Kids remembered the shrimp quesadilla from two years ago and there was no debate on what to get for them. Perfect lunch for our family.

We were on the island in low season so bit off hours of operation but we were able to get a lunch one day here. All food is take out. This business shares the building with other businesses. Turn around time from order to food being ready was extremely quick. We got their burrito, burrito salad, tacos, queso and guacamole. Everyone enjoyed the food. The chips were a bag of Tositos for the queso and guac. The queso was a tad salty and then you had the very salted Tositos a bit much for me. Prices were high in my opinion but you are on an island so it is understandable. We would eat here again if in the area.

There is nothing Baja or Mexican style about this place. The idea is great but the food doesn't match the vibe.

Fresh, hot food. Had the shrimp bowl and it was good. Hubs had the mahi tacos and he enjoyed them as well.

Haven't had a burrito this good since I lived in California. I would drive the 1.5hrs here just for the burrito.

For as long as I lived in Mobile, Carnicería y Taqueria San Jose has eluded me. I've seen the name…read moreof this restaurant when searching Mexican food but never realized where it was. It's been hiding in plain sight to me. Anyway I wanted to try some Mexican food but the real kind and not the fake. I at first thought I wanted some tacos but I ultimately settled on quesadillas. The reason I picked quesadillas over tacos was mainly because quesadillas came with rice and beans. It was that simple. I ordered my meal online and decided to head over to the restaurant. I got there earlier than what the estimated time in my email said my food would be ready. The place was pretty close to packed. I realized the store was more than a restaurant because it displayed cuts of meat in the glass counter. I saw a family with children with popsicles that the parents had purchased along with the meal. When I moved further in the store I was approached by a employee and I told them I made an online order. She went back in the kitchen and came back with my food after a short wait. When I got back home, I couldn't wait to eat. There was a plate for salad and a plate for the quesadilla with the rice and beans. I mixed up the salad with the rice and beans. I don't eat Mexican food a lot so I'm not sure if that's how it's done but that's how I did it. I enjoyed it. Next I tried the carne asada quesadilla. This was like no quesadilla I had before. I say this knowing all quesadillas basically consist of the same thing: dough, meat, and cheese. This quesadilla was on another level because each of those ingredients were much better than what I've experienced before. The cheese was really the star of the quesadilla. It was so rich. I really loved this quesadilla. It was the best one I've ever had in life. Before I forget I want to mention I bought a Mexican Coca Cola with my meal. I could taste the difference from regular Coke but I can't exactly describe it. I loved it though. I really want to come back here and try more items on the menu.

We selected this spot because it's located across the street from the hotel we reserved and when we got out of our car the smell of the food was good. We went in and they kindly greeted us and said it we will be seated in about 30 minutes. We accepted and greatly was seated in 10 minutes, that was the good part. We walked to the table and I saw a guest with a plate of fajita and noticed it looked bland. They gave tortilla chips and salsa, the chips had no salt and the salsa was very mushy with no taste. I ordered Birria tacos, no season. The dipping sauce is very watery taste. It came with beans that had a very improper season. The enchiladas and other orders my family had was flavorless, low quality of ingredients, guacamole was too mushy. Someone dropped a plate that crashed on the floor. It took the waitress around 10 minutes to bring our tickets to pay. Waitress didn't check in on us. We had to wait for more water.

Not quite Margarita time for me, but I spotted a really fun full bar and an extensive menu of specialty drinks and bar food specials. The menu looked really nice and while I was gonna go for the street tacos, We opted for the limited Lunch Menu at the last minute. (served until 3) The lunch menu had something for everyone. I gorge out on the complimentary chips and salsa but my son chose to order the "large" queso which is definitely enough for 4 people... wow! what a portion. The salsa came in cute little carafe and was very mild for any latino tongue, but I loved it. Son ordered the quesadilla and I the loco burrito. Plenty of food, I really enjoyed mine which was accompanied by pico and guacamole salad. Son slathered his with more of the queso and we both requested boxes to go. The surroundings and staff were very pleasant. Perhaps I'll pop over for a margarita later, I saw a jalapeño one that might just do the trick.

THIS LOCATION REFUSES TO ACCOMMODATE MORE THAN 7 PEOPLE PER TABLE…read more This location has always had dirty tables with mediocre food at best, but today we had no choice to pick this location due to an accident on the highway. When we arrived we were not greeted by either hostess. I asked could our party of 14 be accommodated at the same table since we arrived at 4:30. One hostess very rudely asked if everyone had arrived, but I needed to ask several times what she was asking because she was very difficult to understand due to a South African accent. I told her we were all here at which time she walked away without saying a word. The second hostess said they could accommodate our party. After waiting a while the first hostess returned to the desk and told us to follow her. She asked did we want 2 of 3 tables. I reminded her we wanted to be seated together at which time she stated the tables were bolted down (which they obviously were not) and very rudely pointed me in the direction of the bar tender. After talking to him he said it was because it limits exit doors, I requested to be moved to an area that didn't have an exit door near it, he stated his manager would not allow him to put us in that area. I requested to speak to the manager because at this point I had been given 3 different excuses as to why we could not but seated together since we were the only party in the restaurant. The manager never came to the table. I asked another server to request the manager. The house manager stated the general manager will not allow the tables to be moved, also there were cameras and he wasn't going to get fired for moving them. The food was average and the tables are still sticky. Thankfully our waitress was extremely friendly and made the experience much more tolerable.
