My go to meal is the number 1 combo with 2 fried shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. Crispy, a little greasy, with shredded beef and melted cheese and green and red salsa poured on top!! Delish. I can't believe this place has been in Costa Mesa for years and I didn't know. My brother who lived in the inland empire has been raving about it for years. It's pretty much Mexican fast food done right. Refried beans and rice taste authentic, food tastes reasonably fresh, process are good. It's all about that shredded beef taco tho, fried corn taco shell with lettuce cheese and meat. Eat it with the house hot sauce, it's awesome. The place itself is very nice and clean, really large outdoor seating area, although it could use more shade, it can get pretty hot at noon. read more

I've heard a lot about this place from friends, and wanted to try it a few times before giving a review. I really don't like giving bad reviews, but I guess Miguel's Jr just doesn't do it for me. The prices of their food is too expensive for what it's worth. I had only been here for their lunch items, which didn't leave me very impressed at all. This past Tuesday, I drove by here in the morning and decided to give their breakfast items a shot. I ordered a chorizo burrito that had refried beans and potato chunks in it. Maybe it is just my personal preference, but I don't want refried beans for breakfast at 8am. I just wanted chorizo and eggs. Maybe it was my fault for not looking at the ingredients before ordering, but I just don't think of a chorizo burrito being something so complicated for a breakfast item. The burrito was definitely worth the $7 given that there were lots of ingredients in it, but my suggestion would be maybe keep the breakfast items simple and have it as an option on the side that you can add refried beans, potatoes and what not at no extra cost. I might give their breakfast another shot, but not sure. I really wanted to like this place, but really sorry to say that I've had better. read more

I used to live in Corona and was a regular at Miguel Jr's and at their main restaurant. I was soooooo happy to see the new location in Costa Mea. I would NOT compare this them to Del Taco or Taco Bell. They have quality food, reasonable prices and great service. You can't go wrong with a 2 cheese enchilada combo. The taquitos are also really good - ask for cheese on them for a special treat. I have only gone through the drive thru, but look forward to coming back and sitting on the patio with the fire pit. read more

I've been to a lot of the taco shops in the area and I've found myself going back to Miguel's Jr more than most of the others. It's not necessarily an "authentic" street taco place if that's what you are looking for. We've found that we like the two taco combo with rice/beans and a drink, the shredded beef nachos and the chicken tostada. They put plenty of freshly grated cheese on things which we like! It's a very clean and modern store and the sauces are tasty and fresh. The meat quality is typically very good. The serving portions have always been more than adequate for us. read more

Basically the lady was extremely rude, she rolled her eyes at us when we were only trying to add our drinks but she completely ignored us and so we had to do a second transaction, either way she did not give me my receipt. When I asked for it she took it out of the trash to hand to me but I told her to reprint it with this on going virus she could've been smarter. Turns out she charge me more then what I had first ordered so they finally had to do a refund. I go here every time I come to the beach yet it keeps getting worse and worse with the employees. They have no logic with how their business works. Without guests they have no job with terrible-service no one will want to come here. She's Hispanic and so am I but she has literally made a fool of herself with her disrespectful horrible service. They need to retrain her to be a better shift manager or whatever she was. I love this place. The beans are it, people. If you judge your mexican food on the beans, you're not gonna be disappointed. Yes, fast food, but consistently tasty. Fresh veggies, tasty meats, hefty portions. Their breakfast burritos are really good, too, I just wish they were available earlier...although we eat here more often than we should anyway. Aside from the tasty food and convenience, the people who work here have been consistently nice, which some days is so important. After 45 minutes on the 405, no time to make dinner and major exhaustion setting in, having your tasty beans and fresh made horchata handed to you by someone who's nice about taking your money helps to put the work day behind you, for sure. Such a bad experience at this location. I have had good food at other Miguel locations. This location seems to have bad management. I ordered at 9:16pm and I was the first in line. We ordered 1 crispy taco and 1 order of nachos. Many cars behind us began to honk and yell out there window. I waved the girl down who had tripped over a trash can and was dancing in front of the cooks. She said the nachos take a long time. We got our order at 9:36pm. 20 Minutes. When we got home we saw our crispy taco was not crispy at all and was dipped in oil and cold and not crispy buy disgusting and soft dipped in oil and put in a wrapper. Our nachos had no cheese and no beans. Which on there menu it's supposed to have.
