Let me start off by saying we go to Miguel's at least once a week. We love the food but this location is always, ALWAYS lacking. We typically go to the Tyler or corona locations. I genuinely enjoy Miguel's Jr - for fast food, it's pretty darn good. The last time I was there, they were dealing with some unfortunate consequences with staff calling out, so things were super backed up. We ended up getting the wrong order too, which stunk. When I called, they added my name to their book and said the next meal is on them. I suppose easier than trying to get a charge back, just hope that when the time comes, it's legit in there and no one has forgotten! As far as the inside goes, for this location, it's less than stellar. Seems to always be dirty, but I guess the staff is constantly busy. Very disappointed at this location, I had a bad experience when I was there a bit over a month ago , I ordered the garbage burrito and when I got it everything inside was cold, the cheese was a big ball, wasn't even melted... shows how cold the burrito was.. I asked them if they can do it again, kept me waiting for over 10 minutes.. the staff said it had to sit a while so the cheese can melt I thought I would try again today and ordered a chicken taco salad and I barely got chips, half of a half of a over ripe avocado, maybe 4 tiny pieces of tomato's.. do dissatisfied! Sunday afternoon twenty minute wait for four cars in front of me Usually have chicken burrito today I tried the carne asada. Cost more than two dollars extra for a few pieces of dried out meat. I have been coming here for years and I have NEVER had my order come out correctly. If I say "chicken" they give me cheese. If I say "sauce on the side" they put extra sauce all over. Inconsistent Portions I used to go to Miguel's a lot however I stopped going because I got tired of the inconsistent portion sizes, specifically the meat that you choose. One day you might get the "standard" amount (which is not a lot to begin with). Then, on your next visit you'll hardly get any meat at all, it's always hit and miss with them and it's usually a miss! I stopped going due to this fact, I've also talked to friends and family members who stopped going as well for the exact same reason. I decided to give it another chance today and once again I was disappointed. I ordered a carne asada garbage burrito which cost almost $14.00, and as you can see in the photo it hardly had any meat! Definitely not worth $14 in my opinion. The food is not bad, however, it's a huge turn off never knowing if you're going to get a "regular" amount of meat OR hardly any! For example, the last time I ordered a burrito from them, it only had 8 pieces of meat inside the burrito, 8 pieces! They need to address their inconsistency issue. Service makes everything taste better! Our family has been Miguel's Jr. customers since the 70's. For the most food has always been good and consistent flavor. (With the exception of the Galleria location, their burritos are smaller than any other location)Service on the other hand has always been hit-n-miss. Bryan at the Van Buren location made it a 10! He was courteous, friendly and attentive. What a difference from all those years. Maybe Bryan can provide training to all other locations, including the full service restaurants. Such a disappointment. I have been a huge fan of Miguel's for 25 years now, but fear I will be fleeing them for other Mexican food establishments! I ate at this location last week because I wanted my favorite Garbage Burrito Carne Asada extra wet. They cannot even be honest, according to their posted banner hanging right in the restaurant as you enter and serve Carne Asada(see posted pic). When I took my meal back to the counter to inquire why the beef inside is not what is advertised, I was told they've had to change suppliers and the meat is much thinner. WHAT??? What is was served, and charged extra for, was nothing more than shredded beef. My youngest daughter and I had been sharing this chunky beef burrito for years and suddenly it changes. Placed an order for a bean and cheese burrito and a potato burrito with steak (carne asada) via the drive thru. There was no one behind me and the cashier told me to pull over and park, for they will bring my food. 10+ mins passed and a car that came after me (which appeared to also be told to park) was given my order. The car drove around and gave the order back to the server and he turned around to give it to me (note the food had been opened by the previous person). 4.70 total for a nice size Bean n cheese burrito is always a steal. Pretty good and flavorful beans. The only reason you are not getting 5 stars is your Red n green sauce. Garbage! With a restaurant named Miguel's you are really lacking in that area. The Red sauce is completely watered down and the green sauce has flavor but no kick to it. Taco Bell's mild sauce is stronger. These tacos in my opinion are some of the best tacos I've ever eaten. The beef tacos are so good- the meat is lean and very flavorful and I could probably eat about six of them. The lemonade is also spectacular, everything else is very good as well but the tacos and lemonade are the standouts. Also, the potato tacos are very good.
