Mika Sushi 3 is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots around Denver. Located in a shopping center in University Hills, I feel like this is a hidden gem that people who live close by know about and not many others outside of that area. We will drive the 18 minutes from RiNo to this location no problem for the food, the super friendly staff, and the mostly quiet vibes in there. Spicy tuna hand rolls and the manhattan roll are two must orders every single time, but we always try something different as well. These photos are from many experiences there, and they even sometimes (especially if it's slow) bring your order out on a boat or with dry ice and an ice sculpture on it. The to-go business is always busy when we are dining inside as well, love seeing this place successful and thrive. Date Bight while I was in town and this place was recommended by a friend. It is now one of our fave places! We were able to be seated immediately on a Saturday night, it's a great atmosphere with a bar and several TVs with the games on, great service from their entire staff, the sushi was delish AND presentation was amazing. I absolutely love this place! I can't believe I didn't know about it until now and it's right in my backyard. The lunch special here is a great deal - for $18.50 you get three rolls, miso and a salad. The service is excellent and they provide such cute decorative details with your meal! The quality of the sushi / sashimi is very very poor. The color was off, the texture was hard and I even had to spit out a bite which of course ended my eating experience. Wow - after shopping at Marshall's (for entirely too long) I was in need of some good bites and this spot delivered. It might not look like much from outside but the food is fantastic. The service was wonderful, everyone was so kind and attentive. They have a large menu with so many offerings. Food was good, but will skyrocket your blood glucose levels, so you're in for a treat. Went here with family and enjoyed it. It is expensive and they do charge almost 3% extra for credit card usage, so be aware of that. Ambiance was good and everyone is really nice there. We ate there almost the end of the day, after a long hiking trip. I shared a shrimp teriyaki bento box ($29) that came with soup, salad, rice, California rolls, 6 pieces of shrimp and tempura. Happened to be in the area when my yearning for sushi hit. Mika sushi is the real deal -- so very good. There's an elegant vibe to it -- worthy of a special occasion meet up. Menu is extensive, with some different specialty rolls we haven't had before. We started with their yummy edamame, moving on to crab cheese wontons that were slightly different in appearance than other places we've had. No matter what they look like, they were yummy! Moving on to the sushi -- oh my! Every morsel was delicious. We felt compelled to try the Mika Fried Rice (yummm). Then we had the California Roll, the Mango Roll and the Amazing Beef Roll. Their presentation was very special -- and all were fabulous. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, so we took most of the Mika Fried Rice home with us. Yup, the restaurant's almost 5 star rating speaks for the quality of food and service. And I was impressed how quickly our food came out from the sushi bar and/or kitchen, too! Well, it was a cold Monday night where the restaurant wasn't necessarily busy or crowded. And yet, it wasn't empty either. I showed up to the mother-daughter dinner (with my daughter) being famished so I wanted to eat right away. When our miso soups and edamame came out immediately after ordering them we started to devour them. And our appetizer sashimi, sushi, roll, hand roll came out pretty much all at once only 10 minutes after ordering them (beautifully decorated on a large sushi plate); we were shocked as to how quickly our glutinous appetite was satisfied!! Who would have thought that such a small sushi restaurant located in this ordinary looking shopping center can be this great? I felt like my experience was very fast food at fine dining price. Both food and service was very fast. We didn't have to wait long at all. Most sushi plate comes with beautiful plant or mini tree decor and fog effect (water on dry ice). Multiple servers helping each others quickly. They gave us our check when I wasn't done with my plate. And they also kept attempting to take my plate away when I wasn't done waiting for my water refill (I had white tuna nigiri on my plate that I was savoring but I really needed my water) So, if you want fast, I highly recommend this place!! read more

Great potential here. Setting is nice and spaced, super clean, along with them clearly maintaining all Covid protocols. They also have a patio. I haven't eaten-in anywhere in a loooong time thanks to Covid-life and decided to give this place a try after getting a flyer in the mail. They were actually pretty busy too. About 12 tables between inside and out, and 2 servers who seemed pretty in the weeds, but were nice and prompt with a greeting at least. Small wait for a table. They had a nice menu with great roll options, with things pictured clearly, and some unique rolls without being excessive. Tried the Beef Negimaki app. The beef was nice and tender, though the sauce was a little flat and the onion overpowering. They offer a great $1 piece sushi for dine in with nice sized pieces, though not all sushi is available for the $1 option. The Mika ball is a great sushi starter. Food presentation is fun and different. The food was overall tasty and nice for price and portion. What pushed this closer to a 3 star for me in reality was the House Sake tasted super watered down. They do a 2 for one and the brand is the same house Sake used pretty much everywhere but didn't taste like it at all. Seriously tasted like water with a splash of Sake. My biggest pet peeve eating out is when you rarely see your server your whole meal, worse if you have to look for them the whole time, and when they are ready to bring you the bill they rush you and are right on top of you. Sadly...they did this here. I saw several others trying to track them down for service and in fairness it was pretty busy for two servers, but smoothering at bill time doesn't make up for lake of attentiveness the entire rest of the meal. That said the service was sparse but not terrible. Again...solid potential for a quality neighborhood sushi option. read more

The 4.5 rating and the fact that the menu offers hamachi Kama and salmon skin, pushed me to decide MIKA was the place and I have to say, my party and I are please we did it! I ordered: - Edamame: as to be expected - Salmon Skin Handrolls, No Rice, No Sauce, No Veggies: I'd rate these a 6.8/10. They were good, generous portions and executed the way I requested (minus a little bit of rice to stick the nori together), but the salmon skin is SALTED, so it tastes more salty than like salmon. This is fine, but I definitely much prefer salmon skin that has ZERO seasoning on it. - Hamachi Kama: Deliciously succulent meat but it could have been cooked a LITTLE longer because I like crispy skin. I'd give this a 7.9/10. - Fatty Yellowtail Sashimi: 10/10 - Absolutely NO NOTES - Salmon Sashimi: 10/10 - NO notes either - Unagi Sashimi: Boring. Could have done without it. I love Unagi but I like to make it myself and I sometimes wonder why I even bother ordering it sometimes... 4/10. I would absolutely come back to Mika Sushi and I would probably order TWO SASHIMI DELUXE PLATTERS BECAUSE that sashimi truly BLEW ME AWAY!!!!
