Excellent breakfast in a truly old school place, complete with booths. (I love booths.) Had the three egg omelet-- built my own, with pretty much everything I wanted (swiss, green chili, tomato, sausage, spinach and onions.) Even had a choice of a tortilla instead of regular bread, and sampled their homemade red and green salsa. Great hash browns. Average. It was the closest walking distance restaurant from the hotel. Traveling through town. Stopped here instead of eating the hotels free breakfast. It was nice. Wish they made some kind of salsa to go with their breakfast burrito, like a green, red or habanero sauce. They just had Tabasco. Their biscuits looked like bread rolls! Nothing flaky or buttery . We stopped for breakfast. The food was fairly bland (they have season salt in the shakers at the table). There was literally no salt or pepper used in the eggs or hash browns. My toast was bread with very minor toasting. The biscuits were large but the gravy was bland. The portions are very large (too large). Service was fine. I wouldn't say there's much in the way of ambiance. It's a diner type restaurant. read more

When we stopped in to Mike and Ronda's The Place was full of locals enjoying hearty homestyle meals with their family and friends. WOW! Our meals were plentiful! We ordered a gigantic breakfast burro with hash browns and chicken fried steak with eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. We don't always get great chicken fired steak so it was nice to have it done so well! It was still crispy under the gravy as it should be. We needed to take the leftovers to go and got some extra gravy on the side too. Their meals warmed our bodies and souls on a chilly morning. There's lots of parking out front. Maybe we beat the rush or maybe we just lucked out. Service was great, friendly and fast! Go check them out whenever you're in the area! They have another location in west Flagstaff area too which I'm sure is just as great as their east side location. We'll be back for more the next time we're out here! read more

From the moment we walked in, the server, Karissa, was quite rude. My husband and I were both irritated that she was rushing us, starting off by telling us, "The kitchen is closing soon" (AKA HURRY UP AND ORDER BECAUSE YOU'RE TAKING TOO LONG" which we both found off-putting. I asked her the name of the restaurant because there's no signage on the building and she was super irritated that I even asked! I asked for cheddar cheese on my BLT which she didn't include. No mayo on my dry BLT - found that odd and it had a lot of red, old lettuce which I did not eat as it was disgusting. Not a fan of the food or service. The food is always amazing when we visit. Today, not so much. My elderly parents had an appointment with the cardiologist late in the day. After the visit they wanted to stop into their favorite eatery to grab a bite. My mom loves the pancakes. Unfortunately, they were not cooked completely. My mother mentioned it to the waitress who then told my mom if you would have been here earlier.. The waitress told my mom the cook had to turn the stove on for them. Why not close up? Why not tell my parents they were closing? That makes for bad business. My mom was hurt. They had a long drive back to Holbrook (80 miles). read more

Have not been to The Place in about 4 years. Always stop by for breakfast when traveling through Flagstaff. Today I had the Breakfast Burrito for a late lunch. The Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich did not quite sound that appetizing. Breakfast burrito had 3 eggs and you choose the meat, veggies and cheese. My selection was bacon, spinich, green chili and pepper jack cheese. Burrito had a large portion of hash brown. Had this for two meals. The Place is old and also an old school restaurant / cafe. Looks the same as it did 15 years ago. Food and service was very good. They have two locations in Flagstaff and one in Glendale, AZ. Still a great place for breakfast or brunch. read more

Visiting here from Maine for the week and made Mike and Ronda's our breakfast "home" each morning. The friendly, attentive service is excellent, the food deliciously prepared! (Huevos!) A side note: This appears to be a faith-based ownership and this morning a few underserved folks wandered in looking for something to eat. My family and I were looking for a delicious breakfast spot. This place came up on a google search and seemed to have many positive reviews. Honestly I couldn't find one single thing to give a good review about. The cups were dirty. The service wasn't great. Waitress disappears comes back smelling so strongly of smoke. The food was shockingly disgusting. The potatoes tasted like they were fried in filthy oil. The gravy was terrible. The chicken fried steak made me sick to my stomach. Even the ginormous rolls served with the biscuits and gravy that looked yummy, were nasty. My husband and I both couldn't even get through our food and had to hit the restrooms before leaving. Speaking of the restrooms, apparently others also had to hit the restrooms because the toilet was full almost to the point of overflowing with You couldn't convince me to ever eat here again. Awesome spot off Route 66. Classic diner vibes and best of all: huge portions at low prices. Went for a post-run breakfast and got the stack of 3 big thick pancakes for only $9! Got blueberries and whipped cream for only $2 extra. Can't find a deal like that anywhere else in town. My friend also got the stack with strawberries, but could barely finish half of it and had to take the rest home. I'd recommend only getting 1 or 2 unless you're really hungry. We found this wonderful diner totally by accident. First of all I love Flagstaff, but I never get to spend time as a tourist. Anyway, continuing our trip we needed breakfast and began driving, oh there's an exit, let's try that one. We pulled into this huge parking lot and realized the area was not touristy and the businesses were industrial. Other than a Burger King we did not think there were other places to eat. Low & behold right there in front of us was a sign saying "The Place" huh, what the heck we entered. A diner like this one are far & few between, and that's a shame. As soon as we picked our booth a young man came over and while setting our table he gave us large menus and then in a flash we had two mugs of coffee (really good) and x-large glasses of ice water. Our yummy breakfast served on platters, huge portions of hash browns, biscuits (3-4" tall), gravy, eggs, and the thickest bacon strips ever served in a restaurant filled our table and our tummies. We arrived in town after 9 hours on the road & just wanted a simple meal. We ordered take out - a French Dip/Plain (dry) with au jus on the side. The person taking the order said they were out of hoagie rolls but didn't offer an alternative. When we asked what other choices they had for bread, he had to yell to the cook to ask what his last alternative was for the hoagie. He was no help there. When I opened up the container, not only was there cheese on it but the cheese was on both sides of the bread and was melted all over the sandwich - not plain. French Dip is pretty basic and "plain" is self explanatory when there are only 2 things on the sandwich. read more

Obviously Mike & Ronda's is geared toward dealing with customers who work hard & long and burn off a lot of calories in a day. Clientele that were sitting at the tables fit that model, along with families with kids. If you're one of the working stiffs of this world, you're gonna be right at home at Mike & Ronda's The Place restaurant. I scored a chicken avocado sandwich with a side order of fries. Sandwich came with melted cheese, tomato, onion, and lettuce on it. It was also so huge I had to put a major squeeze on it to fit it into my mouth. Downside was that all that pressure sogged out the bread enough that it was disintegrating by the time I finished the sandwich. Which shows that the chicken was juicy as well as tender. Fries arrived hot & just a hair shy of crunchy crispy. Potato portion was equally substantial. More fries than I could pack away after demolishing the sandwich, in spite of them being plenty tasty. I've got Mike & Ronda's The Place restaurant in my sights for a repeat visit if I'm again in Flagstaff and in need of vittles. But I'm gonna make sure I show up real hungry. read more

The spot was recommended in a FB group and the reviews on Google were 4.5 The place is pretty big inside; seems like it's a local favorite; the staff is all incredibly friendly; breakfast/lunch/dinner served all day; bathrooms are clean; and the food was delicious! We had a group of 7 and all ordered something different. Hubby ordered 2 eggs breakfast with biscuits and gravy. The gravy is creamy and it's like butter, and the sausage in it was flavorful. They ordered a few of the house made salsas, one is supposed to be mild and the other hot, but the server Christina said it right...it's hot and hotter Cousins ordered Country Breakfast and a build your own omelet, kids got chicken tenders and French dip.I got a grilled cheese with thousand island dressing. Typical diner greasy spoon and everything hit the spot. Christina was amazing giving us suggestion for fave items, and was just bubbly and kind. Jackie was our other server and she also did great checking in on us, making sure our food came out right, etc., and she was also very friendly. read more

I had been to Mike & Rhonda's West MANY decades ago, but had never been here until the other day. A bit of an odd and claustrophobic dining experience, but we had a large group and they were still able to accommodate without us waiting very long at all. Everyone enjoyed everything from pancakes to French Toast to their ginormous biscuits. I had the Breakfast Burro (emphasis on 'burro' - it was too huge to be a "burrito"), customized w/ pepper jack cheese, spinach, broccoli, crushed avocado and a heaping side of hash browns I couldn't finish after devouring my giant creation. There might (emphasis on 'might') be better places to have breakfast in Flagstaff, but this one undeniably hit the spot ;-) read more

Wow! I've lived on the East side of Flagstaff for years now and only thought there was one "Mike and Ronda's The Place". I'm so happy to report there's one away from the crowds of the university and one for you and me. This place was filled with locals and the ambience was one of a wonderful locals place. The food and portions were amazing. This time I tried the huevos rancheros. I decided to try the red and green sauce. I was so excited to find that both are delicious!!! This dish has to go down as one of the best examples of this dish I have ever had. Of course this place is famous for its biscuits but I wasn't in the mood for such big biscuits so I went with the eggs. I have brought a southerner to this place in the past to experience the biscuits they were amazingly tasty for even a southern who grew up on biscuits and gravy. So you just can't go wrong. I can't wait to go back and enjoy other treats on the menu! read more
