You can stop looking now -- these are the folks you want handling your water mitigation. Communicative, responsive, careful, and thorough. We had a burst pipe above our kitchen ceiling that released enough water to come through our light fixtures. Stressful! Mike came by to have a look and calmly and thoroughly explained what he was measuring, how he was measuring it, and what the options + implications were for mitigation. We had to demo the affected portion of our ceiling and allow it to air out and be treated. Mike was on the job every day, and work was careful and thorough. He went so far as to dust behind him every time he left the house so as to truly leave no trace. It was amazing. He even double-checked that our cat was OK after the door was left open for a minute while loading gear in! We had to travel while our ceiling was being treated. Extra stress: having a project done at home while you're not there! I don't think we would have trusted anyone but Mike. He sent pictures of the progress every day, the moisture readings, and estimates for when he thought the mitigation would be complete. It really put our minds at ease while we could not be at home. Mike and co negotiated with insurance on the back end of the work to ensure we didn't have to pay more than our deductible out of pocket. We've also had negative experiences dealing with insurance, and it was a relief to have someone experienced who could work with them on our behalf. We've worked with other home pros who are not nearly as diligent, careful, communicative, and thoughtful as Mike is. Every time I lamented not having found someone like Mike. After a heavy downpour last month, my bedroom developed a bad leak that cracked the wall. Mike from Mike's Water Damage came to the rescue. Since our house was built in the 1940s, other companies refused to touch the wall without a negative asbestos test first, or couldn't reassure me that any asbestos, if present, would be undisturbed or safely contained in the process. I chose Mike because he could handle the testing and the restoration in one seamless job. Fortunately, the test turned out to be negative. Mike was incredibly thorough, even recommending we open a section of the wall I was hesitant about--and I'm so glad we did, as that's where the largest mold growth was hidden. Experience with estimation request was remarkably poor, complete with numerous false assumptions, over-exaggerations, over-assertiveness and arrogance, and lack of any degree of customer service friendliness or politeness. Firm never called to discuss details, try to understand better, etc. They just knew it all -- you know, one of those kinds of firms that tries hard with full court press to break you down before building you back up their preferred way. Luckily, they declined pursuing a bid on the job without needing to schedule on-site time, etc. Maybe their actual work is good, who knows? Mike and his team were incredibly helpful in addressing an urgent need for water damage control from an unexpected leak. After calling their number on a holiday, Mike came out on just a couple hours' notice; he then stayed for over six hours assessing the damage and immediately beginning the restoration process. Our very old house has trim details that aren't available in stores and Mike's near-obsessive attention to detail means that you can't even tell the re-built trims apart from the originals on other doors. They even fixed some shoddy work done by a previous contractor while they were at it. Kate, who runs his office kept in close contact with us and dealt with a bear of an insurance claim adjuster making sure they were fairly and appropriately compensated. Asked for rekeying of five doors, repair of a non-functional bathroom fan, and fixing of a window that wouldn't open. Vladimir came on time and was communicative with me when the rekeying got complicated, but he got it done along with the window repair. The fan wasn't able to be repaired though Vladimir tried a new switch, and Mike arranged for himself to come several days later to try again. He confirmed the fan itself was working but something had gone wrong with the switch wiring. He got a simpler switch (a simple throw switch without a off-timer sensor), and that solved the issue. In total, I paid $500 for the services (i.e., not including new hardware installed). Mike discounted me $100 for the second visit. I appreciated that, for both the rekeying and fan, the repairmen proposed workarounds to me that I found acceptable to get the job done. Communications were always polite. I'm very inexperienced with repair costs, but the cost seemed pretty good to me. read more

Had two bathroom faucets starting to leak. Called Mike Handyman. I explained my issues and the age of the faucets. Mike suggested that we change out the old 25+ bathroom faucets which made my wife happy to get new Faucets. After she found the ones she wanted we set up an appointment to have them replaced. Stan came out to replace them today. The first faucet took longer than anticipated because it was an extremely Tight area to work in. The sink and pedestal were too close to the wall. Stan was able to install the faucet and checked for leaks. The upstairs faucet was easier to get to and replace. Stan did an excellent job and cleaned up the work area leaving it spotless.
