A rip off. Friend of the family took my father here for a regular cut and a shave. Cut was fine but Mike told my father and my friend after they asked for a regular shave his beard hair was "too thick" to shave so he used a electric beard trimmer to give him a shave instead. He was asked why a razor could not be used and like I mentioned already he just gave a really lame excuse about beard thickness and used an electric clippers to give him this "shave". Kind of pathetic of a barber to give this type of answer and service. Shave with the electric clipper took a minute or 2. Of course All would have been acceptable at the end of the day but guess what? He charged my father regular price for a regular shave as if he had gotten a straight razor with shaving cream and hot towel. So basically we paid 50 (25 for cut and 25 for "shave") bucks and my father walked out of the place with stubble on his face, almost as if he got no shave at all. His beard was not much longer than stubble to begin with, which was the whole reason why we requested a shave with razor. Never seen a barber scam a customer like this. Naturally I won't be going back here to get my father his cuts or shave. 50 bucks spent would have been NO PROBLEM if he had actually gotten a shave, but unfortunately he did not. He also got a 10 dollar tip because my friend who took my father wanted to be polite even though the service paid for was not performed. Good job Mike, thanks I appreciate that. read more

Great place for a haircut...I myself don't do much, just a buzz...but at this point they know what I like/sideburn length/etc, to the point where Ella has even said "the usual?" Friendly people - George is awesome! Clean shop...always have a good movie on while you wait. It's in the heart of Oyster Bay, which is a great town itself. Came in with the boys. All of us got pretty crooked haircuts. Straight across the back and neat around the ears was neither. Looks great when it's wet after they spray a liter of water into your hair, but after you get home and it's all dry, looks lopsided and sloppy. Never again. read more

I've gotten my haircut by Mike and George. Both have given me some of the best cuts I've had. I was in the military and let them know I was a little more analytical about my haircuts than most and they did not disappoint. I get a high fade with a beard trim every time I go and they do an excellent job. The wait can be a bit long on the weekends so I'd recommend going during the week or plan on staying a while. read more

I have been going to Mike's Barber shop for the last 2 years. Never received a bad cut. I use Ella as my stylist and she's very friendly and easy to deal with. Prices are reasonable and Mike continually spends money to update the place and keep it fresh and relevant. Usually no wait or if its going to be little bit till your stylist frees up, Mike will let you know up front to make the most of your time. Worst barber shop ever!!! Mike is extremely grumpy and makes u feel as though u are bothering him . I waited 10 min a few weeks ago on a saturday b4 he told me that he had to leave esrly for a wedding....then the next time i went he charged me $33 for a trim up and shave which took him 10 min ....he will never get my business again read more

Very unpredictable on who you get. I got Mike's shorter older employee. He wasn't too bad in the past but I went today and I asked him to give me a flat top. The last time I went I got him asked him just that, no problem. Today, completely was hard to understand because he was mumbling, he barely used the flat topper tool and gave me a crew cut. I lied and said that was fine thank you just to be nice. As I was paying Mike, he was in the middle of giving another customer a hair cut, he looked annoyed and wanted me to hold on to the money instead of pausing and just letting me pay him then get change. I had to wait 5 minutes to pay him. I gave him $20. Funny thing is my brother and my dad go and they pay Mike $20 every time they go then he gives them $4 in change and nothing for me. If he did, I would have tipped him $2 but he wasn't having it. Not recommended by me. If anyone goes back to Mike's watch you wallet. Try Richie's in East Norwich or Johnny's around the corner. They'll hook you up with what you want with great prices. read more

I've been to a lot of bad barbers but this one was the worst. I was there this past Sun. and Mike buzzed a bald spot in the back of my head. What makes it worse is he didn't mention it and did not show me the back with the mirror like they usually do so I wouldn't realize it until I got home.
