We (all 8 of us) ventured inside of this establishment for a birthday dinner. We got to meet the owner, Kyle Raymond, who shows concern for each and every customer that crosses their threshold. Food was outstanding! Home Style comfort food. The roast beef was superb, fried chicken was up there too. Burgers were ordered as well as Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Two of my grandsons had the kids cheeseburger and chicken strips which they ate! The atmosphere is down home and inviting. Fireplace in the lobby along with old time pictures of Modesto hung on the walls. Very clean inside along with professional staff makes this restaurant on the top of my list. Very pleased with my experience at this place. From the time of my arrival I was greeted by one of the female staff that sat me down with a smile as I waited for the rest of my party. She came to my table several times to see if I needed anything while I waited for my family to arrive. Once they were seated we were approached by another server that was as great as the gal that seated me. The food in general is good except for the chicken tenders my grandson ordered. I notified our server and she promptly replaced his plate with some new chicken tenders. Her happy go lucky positive attitude was so refreshing as she served us with a smile and a positive attitude. She was especially sweet and fun as she interacted with my two year old granddaughter. I would definitely recommend this place especially for the service. read more

We have been meaning to stop by and get a bite when we are in this part of Modesto . Today we did . Very busy today (Saturday) 30 min. for a Table wait for lunch . Saw 2 open spaces at the bar . Jumped for those ! Even though they were very busy the Waitstaff and Kitchen Crew were working as a team :) Taylor T helped us with our meal today . Very pleasant and attentive. We ordered a 805 Beer and a Pinot Grigio. Waters please as well . I ordered the San Francisco Burger , burger cooked perfect and juicy . I swapped out my fries - 1 dollar up charge . For their Clam Chowder. Since it's a recommended item on their menu. It was very good a little too thick for me . But, it had all the great flavors . Hubby ordered the Turkey Melt . It was on Ciabatta Bun with Melt Monterey Jack and a Ortega Chili on it . He absolutely raved about it . I ate a few of his fries and found them nice and crunchy with soft center . Came here with my co-workers on a Tuesday afternoon for our team lunch and it was great! Amazing service and the food was delicious! We ordered a few appetizers and all ordered an entree each. Appetizers: shrimp skewers and fried zucchini Entree: spicy Hamilton chicken penne and the rest of the team ordered burgers. Appetizers came out quickly and were delicious. The shrimps were large and juicy. The sauce was not too overpowering and light enough for our team to share. The fried zucchini were my favorite. It was not overly breaded and came with two sauces: ranch and marinara. I ordered the spicy Hamilton chicken penne since it was a fan favorite on Yelp and it was really good. It wasn't too spicy and had a lot of grilled chicken in my dish. The pasta was also cooked nicely as it was not too al dente. Ambiance is more dimmed and the AC was on full blast since it was 100 degrees outside. read more

We decided to try this place again after several years and the food was as good as I remembered. 2 stars for the service. It seems that If you are not a regular, you will not see your server for the duration of your visit. We were greeted kindly at the door, and forgotten about the rest of the time. There was one instance after another from forgetting our drinks (multiple times), not bringing our food, forgetting our salads, then bringing them after we finally received our meals. Great ambiance, but the service turned us off from this place. Decent prices, however an extra charge to use your debit card was unexpected. Maybe it was a one off night at the restaurant, but it definitely made an impression, enough so for me to write this review, which I never do. I probably should have mentioned while I was there, but we were over the experience, and ready to go at that point. read more

Great food, excellent service. I had the tri-tip/dip sandwich. Melt in your mouth goodness. So much flavor! I really love how they serve the fries in a metal container so they stay piping hot longer. I ALMOST gave this place a 5 star review until we got the tab. My mom and I decided to stop for a quick light lunch and decided to share a plate since we weren't too hungry. We shared a chicken Caesar wrap and decided to share it since again we weren't too hungry. The wrap overall was good, fries were tasty. The staff was honestly killing it. They were helping everyone and always had great service. I'm more disappointed and surprised with the $4 charge for splitting an item... that seems ridiculous to me... mostly when it's not on the menu to even give us a heads up. read more

In town for work and wanted somewhere local to eat. Mike's was one of the first places to pop up that was close by. I am so happy I came here! There were a few seats open at the bar and the rest of the restaurant was pretty empty which was great. By the time I had left the entire place had filled up, so you know this is a spot for regulars. With this being in a plaza there is plenty of parking right in front of Mike's or very close by. Came in on a week night and the service at the bar was fantastic. They were very attentive, gave food recommendations, and kept my cold beer full. I would highly recommend getting a wrap if you aren't in the mood for something fancier. This is one of the best Chicken Caesar wraps I've had in a very long time. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was extremely warm. The lettuce and fresh tomato's and cheese were nice and cold. The wrap was wrapped perfectly and stayed together the entire time of eating it. The fries were great too. You can tell everything is made fresh in house here. Overall. Prices were reasonable. Staff were friendly, and the beer was cold. I'd stop in here next time you are in Modesto. read more

First time at this grill-house. I'm glad we made this stop. We just happened to be in Modesto and yelped to find somewhere to eat. I ordered the Caesar salad chicken wrap, but asked for the crunchy strips instead of grilled. It was really good. But what was really really good was the sweet potato fries, crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside. My husband had the steak salad with the fried onions on top. This is the only reason why it got four stars instead of five, he said the steak strips were a bit on the salty side and the steak was a little tough. We will definitely stop here again if we are ever in the area. read more

We visited Mikes Grill today! And all I can say is wow! From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Kyle, we were impressed. In this day and age, you don't see customer service like this. Absolutely superb. Simple phrases like "Thanks for choosing us" & "We appreciate y'all" mean so much to us as customers. We ordered Garlic fries and chicken strips, Kyle brought us ranch without asking. it's the little things like that. Have you ever been to a restaurant and you asked for a condiment and it takes them 30 minutes just to give it to you. So to be brought some thing without even being asked, showed great customer service. Please if your in the Modesto Area or just passing through, please give this establishment a try, I promise you they will not disappoint. oh, and let me add, the chicken strips and garlic fries are probably the best I've ever had. We were just passing through on the way to our kids basketball game, coming from out of town. So we just wanted a place a stop at and have a quickappetizer and an adult beverage. Upscale grill with great teamwork. Located off of the busy Costco Dale rd you will find the Grillhouse. Super nice entry way lounge seating greats you as well as an enticing bar seating. Large tables and well laid out floor can accommodate small groups if needed. We had the mozzarella sticks for appetizers, clam chowder, Caesar salad, and a Chicken Bruschetta wrap with fries. Even though this is a grillhouse I really have been craving clam chowder, sadly there was an inedible amount if sand in my bowl of soup :( The Caesar salad was mediocre, not amazing, nor horrible, there was an ample amount if romaine and croutons. The chicken bruschettta wrap was very fresh, great ingredients. Was very good. But then the fries were, not so great :( The entire meal was an experience of high and lows. Good flavors, but then a bad ingredient. I want to try this place again, and maybe I will stick to GRILL items :) read more
