Nice place, nice friendly staff. Good food and good beer. We shared the calamari and fish and chips, delicious. A little too much fried food but we don't do that often. The fish was a little greasy but okay, will probably not order again. There's plenty of other items to choose from, will continue to patronize. The Cali squeeze beer was refreshing and delicious. I am leaving this review because of bad business communication. I have eaten here before and the food is decent. However, today I came to Yelp to verify they were open, it said OPEN. I called to place an order, no one answered. I called multiple times, no answer, no vmail indicating closed. Mind you, I have called in the past with no success in answering and instead drove there to place my order because they weren't answering the phone. So I checked the website to ensure they were open since sometimes Yelp isn't updated. Says OPEN, no indication of it being closed. So I sent my son to place the order in person and this was the sign that was up (see below). My issue is as a thriving business this should have been better communicated, especially with the experience I've had of them not always answering the phones due to busyness. read more

Had lunch with my daughter yesterday. She had an avocado bacon burger , which she said was AMAZING! My husband had the special " Mushroom burger with garlic fries of which he said was Very very good! I ordered clam chowder and crab cakes. The clam chowder was very good. Very delicious. It was kind of unusually thick for a clam chowder, but I still enjoyed it. I had a lot of clams in it. It was very good. Unfortunately the crabcakes were a thumbs down. I took one bite, which really threw me because it didn't taste anything like a crabcake. So I took a second bite to see if maybe it was just me and no it was the crabcakes. Unfortunately, these did not work for me. I honestly couldn't even tell you what I was eating, but it didn't taste anything like a crabcake I had ever had. I unfortunately had to send these back. I've ate at Mike's. Several times. So I went back again. Fully expecting to order my steak. Kyle recognized me as a return customer even though I'd only been there once before. Server remembered my preferred beer and also that I like water with my meal. Nice touch. I'm eyeing what looks like the biggest ice cream sundae I've ever seen. Kyle stops by and tells me the special. And points to the giant ice cream sundae. I ordered it. Oh. My. God! Steak was once again perfectly cooked (You don't know how hard it is to find a medium rare steak!), Served on a bed of charred asparagus, with baby red potatoes, a balsamic vinegar reduction, and what certainly tasted like a giant scoop of homemade garlic butter sitting on the steak like ice cream. Their clam chowder was excellent, great flavored stock as well as an abundance of clams. I could have gone for a full bowl. Last Saturday I was invited to a friends surprise birthday party at Mike's Grillhouse In Modesto, CA. We arrived and were greeted warmly and seated right away. It was a pretty large group of about 25-30 people. I was amazed at how nice and efficient the staff were. Orders were taken and in no time we were served, good hot food!!!!! I had the chicken marsala... first time having this dish and I have to say it's just a bit sweet for my taste. I needed hot sauce to offset that balance. Presentation was nice though. The caesar salad was good. Crispy lettuce, nice amount of cheese and dressing. I also tried the sandwhich which was ok, but a bit dry. I just wished there was like a special mike's dipping sauce for the sandwhich to make it bomb. The garlic fries were your average. The service was good. I like the atmosphere. read more

Alright, didn't want to do this review at all becuz this is a family owned business and we ALWAYS order from here but at this point i feel like since we order from here so much, they do not deliver quality. The quality has always been amazing, even though there has been hiccups here and there but today we ordered their house burger, why did they add a slaw in the burger? It was leaking white sauce (assuming it was mayo or whatever they use for slaw) and making the burger so soggy. This is our favorite restaurant but I feel like they are getting too comfortable with their regulars, they don't care about the quality as much as they used to.
