Amazing cannolis! The $5 regular sized ones are gigantic. Crispy shell and rich but not-too-sweet cream. The chocolate chip is a classic and my favorite, but the ricotta cream ones are great as well. The mini cannolis are the perfect size (about half the size of the regular ones), but are sold by the dozen for $30 and you choose among three flavors (plain, chocolate chip, and pistachio). Mostly takeout, though there is a little bench you can sit at for a short period of time if the store isn't too busy. Coffee is not too bad, either! read more

Had my first-ever cannoli experience here while visiting the Harvard Square area. It was pretty empty and this is definitely a smaller branch, so I was able to enjoy the cannoli's more. We decided to order three: Florentine, the Pistachio, and the Mint chocolate one. I personally don't like mint, and according to my bf, the mint one was "too minty" and his least favorite of the three. I thought the Florentine had a super nice exterior, as it was super sweet and crunchy. I would definitely split this with someone though -- it is much larger and sweeter than other cannoli's. I loved the mini chocolate chips too! The pistachio one was also good, but there wasn't much pistachio flavor aside from the crushed pistachio on the ends of the cannoli. I much preferred the outside shell on these ones more. The ricotta cream in both the pistachio and the Florentine were to die for.. it's lightly sweet and not heavy/too oily tasting at all, which is something I like in desserts that do involve dairy. I'd recommend Mike's Pastry for sure, and this location as well (since it's less crowded than the North End location). I already miss the cannoli's! read more

While I do agree that the Mike's Pastry in North End is amazing, the one here in Cambridge is also pretty great! This Mike's Pastry is easy to miss by its location, but I do recommend stopping in one day! It's located right around the corner from The Garage near an oyster restaurant. The cannoli is to die for. It's a good treat to have once in a while. The chocolate chips and filling aren't overbearing at all, and it's a perfectly classic crunch of sweetness. I also tried the Florentine, and that was a bit too sweet for me so I like sticking with the classic. The prices are also unbeatable for Boston pastries! $2.50 for a fulfilling Ricotta Pie? How happy I was to find this location! The same pastries as the North End only with a fraction of the line around the block. They have a great variety of cakes and pastries but, always grab a cannoli since they are the best. I have even frozen them for the flight home (6 hours) and they were just as amazing. Just freeze and allow to defrost in the fridge. Mu two favorites are the nutella and the hazelnut but I have tried the vanilla, chocolate and several others...I am not sure they know how to make a bad one. read more

They accept cards here! It's a smaller shop and a little off from the main street so there's less foot traffic and even though there are like 4 seats, there is a high chance you can actually get a seat. But I think one time, I was given a cannoli where the ricotta was going bad. I've never had a bad experience here. It's open pretty late too. read more

2.5* Does not live up to the hype for me personally. If you ever visit Boston you would have heard about Mikes Pastry in North end ( Italian district). I tried it many years ago and remember it being better somehow ! Maybe it's because I tried it at the original bakery, not sure. When I heard Mikes opened near Harvard Square I had to go try it. The lines are long and the crowds are patiently waiting for a taste which indicates that the quality is still on point! The menu is painted on the wall behind the cash register and the sweets are on display as well. They have a wide range of sweet treats like cheesecakes, cookies, etc and some seasonal specials like pumpkin goodies, etc. After waiting for around 25mins we finally got the classic cannoli( yellow cream, $3.50 each ) Firstly it was huge so sharing is a good option. The cannoli itself was not bad but was a little on the sweeter side. The yellow cream had a distinctive egg flavour which I personally am not a fan of. The pastry crust was flaky and fresh so that was nice. Overall I felt the sweetness and eggy smell overpowered my experience and I did not have the fan reaction I was expected to have. 3/10 I heard that the chocolate cannoli is the most popular but I wanted to try the original because Fusion flavours are not where it all started. The staff was very friendly so that's a big plus and the space is nice but better for take out and not to hang out. They make really nice carrot cake, though the cake slices vary in size which is sometimes frustrating when you're paying the same amount for a smaller piece. The place is frequently visited by tourists and can get busy but the wait is never too long. Staff is always nice and the desserts are consistent! read more

Stopped in to grab a couple of cannolis after a long day of walking around Boston with my daughter. It was late, so we had missed out on a lot of the variety they have, but I got a chocolate chip cannoli and she ordered the hazelnut. Both are excellent. And big. We each only ate half and saved the other half for the next night. If you're in the Harvard Square area and want something sweet, seems you can't go wrong with a cannoli from Mike's. They had a ton of other stuff too, in case you're a bit strange and don't like cannolis. *shrug* Just be sure to hand them the correct amount of money they ask for. My boyfriend and I had planned on visiting Mike's Pastry located on the North End, but while exploring Harvard Square, we stumbled upon this location. I've heard it's packed and crowded at their North End location, but this location isn't. We were able to place our order right when we came in, and grabbed two seats in the front by the windows. We ordered two cannolis, their chocolate chip and pistachio. Each cannoli cost us $4, which seems pricey at first glance, but one cannoli can be shared between two people. For the size of the cannoli, the $4 price tag is pretty reasonable. We both preferred the Chocolate chip over the Pistachio. I felt like the Pistachio flavor was very subtle and underwhelming. But the chocolate chip was definitely better. The chocolate chips didn't make the cannoli taste too sweet, and added a nice crunch to it. The filling has just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess to it! I definitely wanted to bring some back home for my family to try, but knew they wouldn't be able to make it through the trip back lol. read more

This is the Cambridge branch of a Boston North End institution. Mike's claims to have invented the cannoli (as far as I know this is not confirmed but also not disproven). Certainly they have some of the best cannoli around if you are into that. If, like me, you're not, there are still many great options for you at mikes. At this location they don't have the full cakes but there are very good cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and more unusual pastries like "lobster tails" and puff cream pastries. Wow. Strong pastry game!!! I head stories about lobster tails in Boston but always figured Brooklyn could compete. Dang. These lobster tails blew my mind. They are Huuuuuge and full to the brim with cannoli cream!!! I got 2 cannolis and a lobster tail, I think the box was 20lbs. The cannoli cream is super smooth and is thick like whipped cream cheese. It was great in both the cannolis and the lobster tail. The lobster tail was definitely my favorite though, the crust is flaky and super hard/crunchy, but then soft and doughy in the inside- perfection. The peanut butter cannoli was also pretty good, but too sweet for me. If you are a peanut butter fan this is definitely for you. It had a lot of powdered sugar so the cream was suuuuuppper thick. I would maybe stick with the originals- they are solid. Either way I was satisfied and thought it was pretty good! The lobster tail is where it's at. read more

You hear stories of this place. You see people with their pretty white boxes with blue writing and the cute old fashioned red and white tie... Mike's is a Boston institution when it comes to Cannolis. Taking a flight out of Boston, I can almost guarantee you will see at least one person on the plane with a Box from this spot. I can't believe it took me over a year of being in this town to go there! The selection is huge, much more daunting than I thought to make a choice. People say it's like the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld and in a small way it is. They want you to order quick! Hard to do with such a giant selection. We went in the afternoon and it was a tad wiped out. They still had a great selection, I got three humongous freshly filled beautiful pieces of art. I couldn't even contain myself and dove in as soon as I could get that box untied. I ate those 3 in about 2 days and it was worth every bite. I visited Boston for a weekend last month. It was a very short 36 hour trip, so I didn't get the opportunity to really visit many attractions in the Boston area. Mike's Pastry is one of the most famous spots in Boston to visit, but I was staying in Waltham so it was too difficult to head to their main North End shop. Fortunately, I noticed on Yelp that they had a Cambridge location at Harvard Square so I decided to make a trek there since I was visiting the nearby Harvard campus. The shop is on a side street just off of the center of Harvard Square. The shop is so small that the line can stretch outside the store. The specialty that Mike's is most known for are their cannolis which come in many flavors. But they also have other sweet treats to choose from like cookies (by the pound), cupcakes and pastries. I decided to get a hazelnut cannoli ($4) doused with powdered sugar on top and a couple raspberry cookies ($15/lb.). The items were put in a Mike's Pastry box and tied up tightly with string. After grabbing my box, I debated whether to eat it in-store. There is a very small eating area here and it had no seats so you basically stand by the window while you eat. So I decided to take it to go since there were customers in this spot already who filled up this area. Rather than head back home before trying out the cannoli, I opted to sit at one of the outside tables at Harvard Square. It was sunny, but it was still quite chilly so I rushed to down it. This is the first time (I can recall) that I was eating a cannoli. The cream in the cannoli is really delicious and comes nicely chilled. The pastry shell's crispiness was just right. This pastry gets a little crumbly, so use the box to catch the crumbs. I can see why the cannolis from Mike's are so well liked. As for the raspberry cookies, these were good too. Particularly the tasty jam they put in the middle of the cookie. This is a soft cookie that sort of reminded me of a macaron in that it goes down smooth, though it is not as delicate. The bakery selection at Mike's is massive. It really was difficult to choose a couple things from their large assortment. And in retrospect, I am now wishing that I ordered some more items. Mike's Pastry is the real deal. While they have a lot of treats to choose from, make sure to grab a cannoli or two here as that is what they are most known for and for good reason. read more

While in town, I saw so many people with the signature box. So had to go and find this place and see what's in store for me. Come to find out it's known for their cannolis and a great selection of it to choose from. They also have other sweet treats if your not into cannolis. It was about 7pm on a Saturday night and had to wait in line for 10 minutes. With so many different flavors to choose from I stick with my usual: Pistachio, Key Lime and Original. Oh I forgot to mention the price and size of the cannolis, at $4 a piece and size that can feed two it was well worth the money. Not overly sweet and the shell was crunchy even the day after. Mike's Pastry opened a second location in Harvard Square a while ago - and while this one is a much smaller size than the parent store in the North End, it also has much smaller lines. I stopped by after dinner today since it is so conveniently located close to my apartment. The store has a nice selection of cupcakes, cookies, and pies. However, the real draw (and I think the reason that most people come here) are the cannolis. Each cannoli consists of a crispy fried shell packed with a creamy ricotta filling in a variety of different flavors, including chocolate mousse, lemon, pistachio, peanut butter, and yellow cream. My favorite is the Amoretto, which has a strong almond liquor taste and comes with sliced almonds and hardened chocolate scattered on the shell. Cannolis cost about $4-$5 which is on the expensive side, but they are worth it for their uniqueness. You can choose to get additional powdered sugar on top (I usually opt out since I think the cannoli is sweet enough as it is), and it comes wrapped up in an eye-catching Mike's Pastry box to take home. The place is cash only, so be sure you have some cash with you. read more

We were the only ones in here on a weekday. It was SO exciting when we realized there were so many cannoli flavors offered! We ordered a handful and the little box was surprisingly heavy. Cookies are not cheap. My 4 macaroons were $4. The almond macaroons were more like amaretti - very good. The bright green pistachio macaroons were not quite as good, as the whole pistachios inside were weirdly soggy. Plus, I had asked for 1, but received (and paid for!) 2. I'm a big fan of mike's pastry however I don't think I will come back to this location after the service my cousin and I received today. Went in on a Saturday afternoon to get some cannoli's. Masks are required upon entry, as like most places in the Covid era however the waitstaff took it upon themselves to be very rude about the mask rule. I lowered my mask to drink my coffee once and the employee remarked at me to pull it back up. Then when my cousin went to order, she lowered her mask so she could articulate her order better to the employee behind the counter -- instead the employee goes in a biting tone "does pulling that mask down help you listen better??" It was so rude and honestly in all of the years I've lived in Boston, I've never encountered such a nasty, sour attitude. I really hope the manager who runs this location reads this and knows that I will not be back to this location for this incident. read more

Delicious. This was my first time trying a cannoli and it's set the bar high for any other cannoli I'll have in the future. I got a chocolate covered cannoli which had a crispy chocolate and pastry shell and tasty filling. The filling was the perfect balance of being rich yet still fluffy and not too heavy. Getting dessert at Mike's in Cambridge is always a treat for me and my family after we have pho down the street. We came last week and got strawberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, red velvet cupcake, Oreo cupcake and tiramisu cup. The strawberry cheesecake was good but the rest were days if not a week old. The frosting on the cupcakes were hockey pucks and the cake was dry. The Oreo cheesecake was hard and dried out as was the tiramisu cup. Very disappointing and a waste of money. read more

Actual Cannoli was good. I had the hazelnut, lots of flavour nice the crunchy shell and sweet cream filling. The two girls that was working, wow talk about needed to learn how to smile or just have better costumer service, talk about attitude. Ive never been to this bakery and really wanted to see what my options were. The one girl just looked at me like you still don't know what you're having!?? And no one else was behind me or waiting to order. Mikes have about 20 cannoli flavours and also other pastries. I knew I wanted to try their cannoli just didn't know which one. There is a flavor for everyone! -good portion size! For $4, it should be this big! Had to share with one other because it was so rich. Cons: -the crust of the cannoli tasted like dry nacho chips (minus the salty). Maybe it should taste better earlier? -the cream was a little flavorless and it just felt like I was eating heavy cream. Tips/observations: -they close at 9 pm on Sunday's! -they stop making new cannolis' about an hour or two before they close!
