Since we were in Cambridge today and my sister-in-law wanted to try a cannoli, we opted to go to Mike's Pastry (this is an offshoot of the original in North End Boston). Very friendly staff, easy to read menu largely on one wall, not crowded and easy to order. Clean and bright inside with about 4 counter seats by the window. We ordered one each of espresso, lemon, and pistachio cannolis, walked around the corner and sat in a cool alley with a bench to enjoy them. The cream is very rich, sweet (2/3 would be enough! Very generous). The pastry is crispy and breaks easily when you bite into it (the paper is helpful to hold it together). Glad we came!
I hate writing this review with 1 star because I used to love Mikes!!! We got the Dubai chocolate cannoli and a slice of mousse cake. The cannoli was quite literally inedible. It tasted like pure cardboard with the texture of paper mache. I honestly was so disappointed with it. My partner got the mousse cake which was sour and bitter. I'm not sure what happened but we used to always love whatever we got from here. Super unfortunate.
Visiting Mike's Pastry in Harvard Square is the perfect way to get their pastries (that taste as good as the original) without the insane lines. The staff here are always so friendly and efficient. While their cannolis are rather expensive ($7-$10 for 1) it does make your day 200% better when you get one of their sweet treats. Their Chocolate Chip Cannolis and Amaretto Cannolis are my favorites! Their cannoli cream is always fresh & smooth while their shells are perfectly crispy. The variety of flavors is amazing. What's not to like?
Mint chocolate cannoli. All I have to say. This location was a lot quieter than the one in little Italy which was nice! Open late, fast service! Crispy on the outside , creamy on the inside. So many flavor options!
Really awesome selection of deserts. I don't think there's anything there that didn't look good. Service was great. Ambiance was very casual and more of a to-go spot.
Mike's is one of the representative chain pastries in the Boston area. However, its overwhelming sweetness was totally a disaster to my Chinese/ Cantonese appetite. Pistachio Cannoli: One of the signature products. To be frank, this cannoli was well baked, with incredibly crunchy dough shell which easily fell apart under a bite, and brimming thick ricotta cheese with a slight hint of lemon or orange zest's citrusy tanginess and fragrance. However, the cheese was ridiculously cloyingly sickly SWEET I had never tasted before, so that I could only persist to half of one. Maybe it suits American taste buds more. Tiramisu: I saw recommendations on the China's food reviewing platform Dazhong Dianping大众点评, but this piece of cake had actually nothing to do with the authentic Italian Tiramisu. As was shown in cannoli, EVERYTHING inside was sweetened, while I couldn't taste any hint of cocoa's bitterness or Rum's fragrance. As a dessert lover, I fell into deep depression and confusion. The only ingredient slightly better was the caramel cream on top, providing more layers of flavor.
Cupcake was yummy, Boston Creme Pie was not good to me, Chocolate Chip Cannoli was a game changer. Absolutely amazing, no complaints. The inside wasn't busy, lots of options to choose from and an entire wall of cannoli options to select from. Will return!
This is primarily a bakery for take-out. I had heard that the bakery is known for its cannoli. There were cakes and cookies displayed but no cannolis. After we placed the order for the cannoli, the cannoli shell is filled in the kitchen and then packed. They are just enormous, so be prepared. We got the amaretto and a pistachio cannoli. We liked the amaretto cannoli more and usually my preference would be pistachio. My personal preference is for a regular size cannoli. The two cannoli came to $15! So pretty pricey imo.
Incredible cannoli place! They have a wide variety of filling options to choose from, as well as pastry shells in vanilla and chocolate covered. I ordered the Nutella cannoli and it was delicious! First of all, they make giant cannolis that are very filling so you only need to order one. The pastry shell is baked crispy but doesn't messily crumble when you take a bite, plus has a ton of flavor. Then the filling is delicious, stealing the show with a creamy and sugary taste that fills your sweet tooth. I didn't think the Nutella cream tasted overly like Nutella, more like chocolate cream cheese with a hint of hazelnut, but was still delicious. They even add powder sugar sprinkled on top. Definitely a go-to stop in Boston!
As my first time to Boston, stopping at Mike's pastry was a have to. The line went pretty quickly, and the employees were very fast and efficient at getting everyone their order. They had a large selection with many different flavor, choices and combinations. I have to say my expectations were quite high, but I wasn't as impressed as I was expecting to be. For me, it was too much filling and too sweet. But my friends absolutely loved theirs so maybe a different flavor for me would be the trick. Overall, I would still go back again and it's absolutely worth a stop! Parking would have definitely been difficult however I walked from my hotel so it wasn't too difficult for me. Parking in Boston is just difficult in general so that's to be expected. But even if you try to park it's still worth it.
Came in here very last minute. They were packing up, so glad I got to grab a cannoli. You can tell it was fresh. Great to grab and pickup, not really a place I'd sit in though.
I'd never been to this location before. I've only been to the one in the North End previously. Service was fast and lovely. There was only one other customer in the entire store. We got lobster tail, fudge brownie, a tiramisu slice, and strawberry cheesecake. The lobster tail were not as crisp as I might have hoped but the tiramisu and the strawberry cheesecake were absolutely on point. Parking was also ridiculously easy. We got a spot right across the street and we were in and out in less than 15 minutes. We will definitely be returning to this location
This was my first time trying a cannoli, and maybe I just picked the wrong flavor, but I didn't enjoy it at all. I always see a line at Mike's Pastry, so when I finally caught it empty, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was way too sweet for me and nothing about it really stood out. I'd pick Beard Papa's over this any day.

Delicious. This was my first time trying a cannoli and it's set the bar high for any other cannoli I'll have in the future. I got a chocolate covered cannoli which had a crispy chocolate and pastry shell and tasty filling. The filling was the perfect balance of being rich yet still fluffy and not too heavy. The cannolis here are quite big, perfect for sharing! I'll be back to try the Nutella cannoli and their cakes next. read more

This place blows my mind every time. The cannoli's are to die for and they're soo big! This time I tried the mini cannolis and I was shocked. Usually mini ones are less tasty than bigger ones but they were so good. And the perfect amount of bite size goodness. Any time someone asks I'm like you gotta try here. Worth it everytime. The Harvard Square location is a little hard to find but once you're in there it looks and smells like the one in the North End. Try it out! read more

I was walking around with my friends exploring the infamous Harvard Yard when we stumbled upon this other Mike's location. The location is certainly smaller than the original location but they have the same setup in that the cannoli fillings are easily seen on the wall above the register when you walk in. I hadn't noticed the size of the cream puffs in the North End location but my goodness, they are ginormous and if I hadn't just finished a huge breakfast, I would have eaten one right then and there. I bought an oreo cannoli to bring back to my SO in NY and he absolutely loved it, he definitely ranked it as one of the best he's ever had and there's some great ones in NY. I'm so happy we stumbled upon this location and I was able to share the cannolis from Mike's, I'm looking forward to my next Boston trip and not leaving till my friends all stop and give these a try!! read more

My friend and I were visiting nearby Harvard on a Saturday morning and had heard about this place's legendary canolis, so we stopped inside. We were greeted by a vast array of too many curious items, and left the shop with two hefty boxes filled with five different treats. We walked across Harvard yard and sat on some steps before slowly opening the boxes with our frigid fingers. Onlookers exclaimed that we had the "right idea" getting Mike's, but quickly realized how crazy we were when they saw the total volume of food we had purchased. The canoli was actually pretty underwhelming, as the cream inside of it tasted of nothing more than some sugary paste, devoid of much other flavor. It was the chocolate covered one and had a bunch of chocolate chips on the ends, but the middle was uneventful. I am also used to more flaky and softer cannoli shells, and I thought the pastry part was very stiff and almost crunchy - and not necessarily in a good way, but I'm not sure how much of that was just due to the extremely cold weather. The Boston cream pie was a bit underwhelming too, but not bad - just not something that I could see myself ever craving. The lobster claw however, was fantastic. The fluffy cream in the middle was so voluminous, and spilled out like wonderful plumy guts as we eviscerated the pastry. The rather stiff texture of the bread and its hearty flavor was awesome, especially in stark contrast of having your next bite be of pure heaps of cream - filling your entire mouth with fluffy goodness. I was overall disappointed by the canoli we got, but perhaps I built up that expectation a little too much from the reviews I read. Otherwise, their lobster claw was just amazing (and did I mention freaking huge!?) and is something I highly recommend. Try this place out if you haven't before! read more

This is one of those "must go's" when in Boston. They have cannolis, gelato, and other pastries so there's something for everyone. Wait in line even if it goes down the block because the line moves fast. I've ordered the Oreo cannoli and the Chocolate Cream cannoli and I prefer the chocolate cream. Cash only. read more
I came here for a snack with a friend on a weekend afternoon. I was so excited to hear that there was a Mike's now in Harvard Square -- so much more convenient to access than in North End in Boston (speaking from the perspective of the college students here). Much like the store in North End, the staff is very quick in getting your order and tying up your boxes in a timely manner. They have this down to a science! There is no seating space (only standing space), however, but you can go grab a seat in the nearby Garage. Mike's is definitely something you should do if you are a tourist here with an agenda. I got a hazelnut cannoli ($4), and my friend got a tiramisu cake ($4.50). The hazelnut cannoli did not disappoint! The crust was crispy, flaky, and light -- well balanced with the creamy interior. You could get powered sugar in addition at the end as well, for the finishing touch. The tiramisu was also light and fluffy and the right amount of sweetness. Definitely have a cup of water nearby though, if you have a low sweet tolerance. These servings are large - and very filling! read more
There's Mike's Pastry in the North End and I was surprised to find this Mike's Pastry in Cambridge near Harvard Square. It's a small shop and not nearly crowded as the one across the river, but they do have a great selection of tasty treats. I got another canoli. It's still hard to say which is better (I'd had a Modern one the other day) because this one was crunchy and well filled with a rich cream and then dipped in nuts. Just delicious and only a million calories. read more

Recommend getting your pastries to go and eating somewhere on Harvard campus for the true Cambridge experience, especially since Mike's doesn't have many tables. There are some nice tables across the street on Dunster and Mass Ave. read more
Came cuz I saw that this place had over 5000 reviews on Yelp in another location, and I gotta say, Yelp reviews did not disappoint. I got a Florentine Cannoli and it was heavenly! The cream inside was kept cold, so it had a texture like ice cream. The exterior was crunchy and tasty, and glazed with honey. I shared one with my girlfriend and it was perfect for both of us, but next time, we will probably get more greedy and get one each! read more

A friend insisted I must check out Mikes Pastrys whilst in Boston and ill be honest, my last taste of cannoli at a well known bakery in NYC did not leave a last impression so I was kinda like 'meh' about visiting Mikes. We walked past the North End location and the queue was ridiculous. I'd already done my fair share of queuing at The Paramount that morning and so I figured that was the extent of my Mikes Pastry experience. But then... a walk around Harvard Sq ended up with wandering past another location which I was not aware of! And so in we went! It's a pretty looking store. All the cannolis are laid out in a glass cabinet so you can see all of the delicious flavors and they all looked real good! I went for the Nutella cannoli. This had a chocolate/hazelnut cream and the cannoli pasty was dipped in chocolate. It was real naughty! Despite my previous dissatisfaction with cannoli this was a game changer and so for that I thank you. Having said that, I do feel like Mikes is more of a touristy novelty than anything. $5 a pop is fine for a one off but if you were coming in the buy a few for your family or whatever it would work out to be pretty spenny for what is essentially cream in a bit of pastry? Idk... just my thoughts. read more

You know this place is good because it was a line inside. It was very hard to chose one thing: cannolis in so many flavors but Nutella was very good; Napoleon delicious, Oreo cupcake, and the Italian cookies yummy! I will visit for sure next time! read more

Best cannoli in Boston hands down! We were in Boston for the 2018 Boston Marathon and these were the perfect fuel for my marathon man. The espresso flavor was absolutely delicious and my favorite of the assortment that we got. There is a huge variety of flavors so there is definitely something for everyone! I really enjoyed the crispy cannoli shell and it was definitely made as fresh and creamy as a cannoli should be! read more

I love cannolis. Must I say anymore?! This Mike's is hidden inside a side street in the heart of Harvard Square! It's relatively small, only a few seats inside, but they still have a good selection of cannolis it was so hard for me too choose what flavor I wanted. There's less people, but still the same great taste of desserts. I had the strawberry cannoli and topped it off with some powered sugar and it was delicious. My other friend had the chocolate cupcake and it looked amazingly chocolatey with all the frosting on it. With Harvard Square being such a touristy place, Mike's is a perfect place to stop by to grab a sweet treat! read more

I may be blaspheming my Italian heritage here but........... the cannoli was NOT life changing. I know they are pretty busy here so they probably have to pre-fill the cannoli, but they taste/texture was lacking because of it. Not peak crunchiness, and the filling to shell ratio was WAY TOO HEAVY ON FILLING. I suppose you get a pretty sizable cannoli for $4, but the subpar execution still doesn't seem worth the money to me. There are much better sweet treats to be had in Boston & Cambridge---seek and you shall find! read more

Ask five Bostonian's where to go to get a cannoli, and you will receive five different answers. Looking for variety? Mike's wins, hands down. From strawberry to espresso and from traditional ricotta filling to mousse- options are-a-plenty. It was love at first crunch for me-the pastry is cooked to perfection. I prefer the ricotta filling-the espresso is my favorite--so far. Cannolis aren't your thing? Their black and white cookie is TO DIE for. Their peanut butter cupcake is richhh. Be prepared for a packed house. There is always a line-but it moves very quickly. read more
I've heard a lot about mikes pastry's famous cannoli so I HAD to give it a go my self. I wouldn't say I'm the biggest fan of cannolis maybe because I haven't a really "good one". But I decided to give it a chance and I was not disappointed one bit. Recommended by a friend we came inside and automatically there was a big line which says a lot! The line went by quickly and there were so many different options! I went for the chocolate chip one and my goodness that was amazing! Definitely recommend this place and I'm sure anything you pick will be great! read more

Their red velvet cupcake was delicious. We al know Mike's Cannoli's are the best in town, but who knew their cupcakes were great too! Wish they had used cream cheese icing but still pretty delicious. read more

A lot of people recommended this as I was a first time visitor in Boston, and I was a bit hesitant because I was scared I would be disappointed by an overhyped restaurant. However, the cannoli was definitely delicious and I'm glad there was this location because the line wasn't nearly as bad as it is in the North End location. I got a plain cannoli with no frills, and I liked the thickness and creaminess of the ricotta filling. It's very large, so I would recommend splitting it with a friend. I also got a Boston cream pie, and I didn't like it as much as I did the cannoli although it was good too. I wish there was more chocolate ganache on the top with less cake, but the cake was spongey and moist, so no complaints there. There's no public restrooms and no parking lot, but it's a really short walk from the Harvard station and right across the Campus Center if you need to find somewhere to eat your goodies. They do take credit card and I only had to wait for two parties ahead of me before I got my order taken. Overall it's a nice spot to take some dessert to-go and get your sugar fix. read more
