Their food is good but their manager is extremely rude and hostile. We had a pizza ordered wrong, so when we called to get a new pizza they gave us a small when we ordered a large. When we called to get the order right again she gave us attitude and hung up on us. We called back and told us we were wrong saying "who cares whatever you want". We walked down to the store to get our money back and she gave us more attitude telling us we wrong. This is one instance where the food doesn't make up for the service. THE WORST COUNTER HELP on the North Shore and possibly in the entire world! Surly & dumb...a wonderful combination! One star for the pizza. That's it. The service [in person and/or delivery] is abysmal. When calling, you're put on hold immediately before you can even say anything. When you do speak to someone, it's inevitably a distracted young lady who is either hard of hearing or too uninterested to listen to what you're ordering. Then it takes over 1 hour for your order to arrive. If you're that busy, either do not have delivery service or hire some more help! In person, the counter help is a collection of impolite teenagers who would clearly prefer to be somewhere else. DO NOT GET DELIVERY! I get food from Mike's about once a week and the food is pretty good, especially their pizza. That being said they have terrible delivery. I've ordered two times and both times it has taken over an hour to receive my meal and when it does arrive it's almost cold! When you call and order they say it will take 30-45 minutes for delivery which is understandable for a place that gets steady foot traffic. What really upsets me is that when you call after 50 minutes and they say that the driver just left and he takes another 25 minutes to get to you. I have read some not so complimentary reviews here but I would like to add my review. I love their half price pasta Wednesday. I've tried a few of their dishes and my favorite is the baked ziti. Not able to finish the dish so I have it the next day for lunch also. There are a few of us that have made this out work tradition and love it. I've ordered their protein salad small size and the container looked like it would feed a small child but it is packed to overflow. Everything is fresh and properly prepared. I've even ordered the Chicken Kabob salad to bring home for our dinner at the end of a busy work day. Let me start off by saying that the food was decent. That's all I have to say that's good. Called a few days ago and ordered a calzone and a chicken kebab salad. I wanted a steak bomb calzone without salami and mushrooms. The person on the phone taking my order didn't get it. So, then I explained it differently-steak and cheese with peppers and onions. Fine, whatever, every one has a bad interaction. I decide to give them another shot tonight. Simple order. One junior sized calzone, and a small calzone. The person on the phone rushes through the order, I have to explain it a few times, but I figure they've got it. Then when the time comes to give the card number, the person keeps interrupting me. Big surprise, the card gets declined because he didn't close his mouth and let me give him the number. Finally the order is placed, and i figure we're good. They quote me a half hour, and after almost an hour the food arrived. GUESS WHAT? They send me two junior sized calzones. There are a lot of us here. Not nearly enough food. I call, and all I get is "I'm gonna talk to my guy. He's losing ME money by not getting the right order." What the ****? What about the customer? No offer to rectify, no apology...nothing. Guys, do me a favor and give your business to someone like the guy who owns Cabot Street Pizza. Really nice owner who's reasonable, responsible and knows how to treat a customer. Their food is delicious, the prices are fair, and they are quick to complete your order. If you get a calzone, make sure to order the side of marinara and you'll end up finishing it with a spoon when there is nothing left to dip in it. Do not stray from the menu, they cannot handle special orders. I have been ordering a calzone with an added ingredient on a pretty regular basis and have never gotten it. It's become a joke amongst my friends and family at this point. It's correct on the receipt, so I blame the cooks for this one. In the cooks' defense though, I have witnessed a cook yell at a cashier for putting in a steak and cheese sub and saying no cheese because the customer did not specify a type of cheese. Of course the customer assumed he would get american in it. In conclusion, the head honcho seems like a real nice guy and the food rocks. Just don't order anything that is not a standard menu item. We've ordered from here a few times and I've been in a few times. Each order was different and all the food was tasty. Their steak tip salads are fantastic as are their roast beef sandwiches. Prices are okay and inline with any other delivery/take out place in the area. Delivery takes a little longer than other places in the area so pick up is recommended. The food here is great, but can take a while to make, but delivery is almost unreasonable during peak hours, they definitely need more help! Staff is friendly, but always very stressed out, and don't appear to be enjoying the chaos. Especially during the busiest part of the shift, you can almost expect them to be rushed and maybe a tad rude, but honestly it's understandable (if you've ever worked in that type of environment you'd understand too). Come in during off-times and everyone is always pleasant. Despite those nitpicks, the food never seems to pay the price, and I can't bring myself to give them any less than a 4 star. Food is typically very good, great flavors, and pretty good prices (for the quality). The sweet sauce for the pizza is a MUST try! Advice to the business: your menu is WAY too large. if you scale back half of it, you could really focus on the consistency of quality more. Your average pizza and pasta shop. On Wednesday's they have half off pasta entrees, so I got the chicken Parmesan. They're portions are generous and can easily become two meals. I love Mikes! It was the first casual dining restaurant I found in Beverly when I moved here a year ago. They are very accommodating. Delicious pizza, thin crust, cooked to perfection. Subs are my favorite. I order the eggplant with sauce, provolone, cooked onions and peppers. The eggplant is thick, delicious, and plentiful. The bread is warm and crunchy, cheese melted, oozing. Not only did you refuse to help fix it, you spent your time telling me how it was my fault and implying that I was making it all up because I was upset. Apparently this place does not think that you can get covid or give it to others if it is "hot in their kitchen". I went in to get salads. The cashier had a mask covering her mouth and not her nose. The person who prepped my salads and then handed me the bag had no mask on at all. Bait and switch!!!! Beware of website pricing. They have not been open long enough for their site to be that outdated. We ordered a small spinach calzone listed on the website for $9.95. When I picked-up it was $14.49!! Pointed this out to the cashier hoping for some compension and the reply was "I'll let them know". To make it worse, the marinara sauce contained meat (not appreciated by our vegetarian) and the edges of the calzone were so thick they were raw on the inside. Needless to say, we will not return.
