So this place is pretty awesome. There is a whole bunch of really good BBQ in the mountains. Mikes ranks right up there with the best. What made this place stand out was we came in 10 minutes before closing and they treated us like family. We were out all day hiking and we were super hungry. Mikes cane through big time. Now they were out of a few things and were a little thin in the sauce department, but the brisket and chicken I had was really good. Beans and macaroni and cheese also very good. Sweet tea was on point. I loved it!!! They were so nice. Very small place in Blue Ridge. Family enjoyed their meals as well. read more

Only 3 stars because the portions were extremely small for the cost of $8.21 and I had water!!!!!! I had the lunch pulled pork sandwich which comes with one side and 2 prices of pickle. The sandwich was about 4" across and 2" high:could have had more pork(average taste could have been warmer). Side order was beans in a small cup about 2"x2"(tasted like strait out a can). Pickles:2 about size of quarters. I would put the value about $4.50 due to the small portions Taste-wise;Sandwich was good,beans-nothing special,pickles are pickles. I'll not ever return too $$$ for what you get. I had are their before and it was much better but their portions had always been small and much better overall tasting. Great little spot in Blue Ridge. Decent amount of parking for the allotted seating, maybe 4-5 4 place tables inside and additional porch seating. Ordered the pulled pork plate with slaw & beans, received pork, slaw & mac-n-cheese. Service was super fast, pork was juicy with a light smoke flavor, sides were piping hot with just a little bit of crusting on the mac, beans had good flavor. Two sauces available, reg/sweet & spicy, both straddle the safe middle of the road where most patrons will be happy with either (an offering of Trappey's Peppers in Vinegar especially for the pork would be nice). Only downside was the slice of garlic bread that came with the plate, lots of butter (good), lots of garlic flavor (good) but all from garlic salt so very salty & I like salt (maybe a half & half mix of powder & salt). Just under $14 for the meal w/tax & excluding the gratuity. ps please remember to tip your wait staff it has been especially hard for them the last year or so read more

I went to get pulled pork today. Was even willing to pay grossly overpriced bbq because they were the only ones open. I asked for 2 lbs, they said they couldn't do it (they had it). Then I ask for 1lb. She said that they weren't selling by the pound today .....because too many tourist? Thanks for thinking of the locals. So if I would have ordered 6 meals for my family, would you have refused that also? Seriously learn how to run a restraunt. We will not go back. Stopped in after visiting the Falls. What a hidden gem! The food was FANTASTIC! Because of Covid we've been taking food Togo wish we could have ate in, simply because the staff was so friendly. If you are vacationing, this is a great local spot. Our family of 5 had a sampling of it all - pulled pork, ribs, baked beans, slaw, and a hot dog for our youngest. On the Yelp app it said that Mikes BBQ was closed on Sunday but it was open :) ,the walls were covered with things to explore. We ordered from the laminated menu but didn't realize the menu was o both sides. We got the $10 pulled pork plate it comes with two sides and a thick slice of Texas buttered toast. The baked beans , and slaw were sweet and very good and the potato salad was very good . It has thin sliced celery in it which I don't prefer but I really liked it anyway. The food was brought out to us 5 minutes after we ordered it so that was a surprise plus. The Health score has been an A every time they've gotten inspected. The sauce on the table wasn't labeled but the red one is spicy sweet the other is regular and both perfect., the spicy is definitely spicy. The portions were a little larger than I've seen at other restaurants. The waitress was very attentive, well dressed and fast . Nooo complaints about any part of this experience. read more

Don't waste your money. They didn't pull off the membrane off the back of the ribs. The ribs were over cooked in the smoker very dry. The baked potato was 90% raw. And they charged for the sides. The only thing that was good was the coleslaw. There's got to be a better BBQ restaurant in blue ridge, so don't waste your money. read more

BBQ is good and the brisket is very, very tender and delicious. It is hard to find good Texas-style brisket and this place has it, but I have never been able to get any by the pound. They sell out and won't sell by the pound but will still sell you a brisket 'plate'. Anyway, it is the best and I have tried 2 other BBQ places in Blue Ridge. Potato salad and green beans are good too. My only complaint is cook more brisket so I can get some by the pound! read more

Excellent hole in the wall, side of the road place. Menu has a ton of combos and options. We enjoyed the macaroni and cheese, polish sausage, pulled pork, and brisket. Everything is tender and smokey with just the right amount of melty fat to make it awesome. The only issue is the parking lot and they run out of things quick. While staying in McCaysville, GA, we knew that we would find good BBQ, and this place was a great find! All of the reviews that are on here are 100% accurate, and I'm glad that we followed their advice. The smoked jumbo wings are like nothing I've ever had before. Going to kill the 5 star run. TL:DR version: BBQ cooked in the Saharan Desert Ambiance: Just another rustic looking bbq joint. Service: Not so great here. There was one lady working the front and you would think someone just crapped in her cornflakes that day. Was complaining to customers about her lack of help, which I honestly didn't understand at all as there were maybe 12-16 total customers with at most, 4 tables and she had someone in the back helping. She was clearly trying to make everyone in the joint understand that she was put out. Drink refills, nope. Too busy sitting in the back complaining to the cook. I went to go refill my own glass after a while only to find out that the cooler that they put the ice in for drinks was completely empty. Food coming out of the back took over 30 minutes to get to the table, not sure how that is possible at a bbq joint that essentially pre-cooks the food before service times. Don't expect much here. Food: Got a combo basket of some sort with ribs / pork and with cole slaw and the mountain dew apple and a brisket sandwich. Also got an order of mac and cheese, and a wing basket for the two kids. The meat portion of my brisket sandwich was good, unfortunately they gave me more of the fat cap than brisket. Pork: Dry Ribs: Dry Mountain dew apples: Sounds interesting but they are pure sugar. Mac and cheese: average kraft style mac and cheese. Wings: Dry Summary: All meat served was dry minus the fatty pieces of brisket. Could see the brisket being the only reason I go if they could pay attention to how they trim it out for serving. Sauces average. Service, which I rarely grade on, abysmal. I can deal with slow, I can't deal with somebody crying about their lack of help, yet not really doing anything at all service wise for such a small amount of patrons at a time. read more
