This little hole-in-the-wall with take-away Italian is BOMB! Whether you're a carnivore or a veggie-lover, this place loads up the toppings and leaves you feeling crazy good. I really like their veggie pizzas ( I sometimes add goat cheese- VERY YUMMY) and my bf enjoys their chicken alfredo. The chicken was slightly smaller than my iPhone and just about as thin. Breading was ok but had no seasoning. Pasta was so over cooked you smash and smear it into a paste with a fork. Marinara was horrible. Was very sweet. Only one distinguishing spice which was very overpowering. No garlic, onion, basil, oregano, etc. we discussed it at length and couldn't figure out the one spice. She thought tarragon, but I think just a huge amount of rosemary. I called about 11:30 to order and the wait for delivery was 40-50 minutes verse pick up in 20 minutes. So I drove 15 minutes round trip from me to get it. It's very tasty and fresh! Just ordered delivery from here. The food looks great, however, the customer service is AWFUL. Let me start by saying I work in the food service industry. Upon delivery, our order seemed a bit short. We ordered a calzone with pepperoni and cheese AND chicken parm. We received chicken parm with pepperoni and extra cheese...that's fine, mistakes happen. The driver told us to call the store and he will bring it out to us. Called the store and explained the situation. The person on the phone immediately said, "But you didn't get charged for a calzone." And then asks if I can hold on for a second. Another person gets on the line and asks how he can help me. I said another person was just helping me thinking he might have picked up a line on hold and he rudely said, "I know I'm trying to figure out what's going on." I explain to him the situation, and he again takes the order for the calzone. Not ONCE was I apologized to, and I was basically blamed for my order being wrong because "I wasn't charged for it." He asked if I would be paying cash or credit, and I acknowledged that I feel like I should be offered something considering my order being incorrect with no apology was not my fault. The guy argued with me about how he's not going to send out free food (which is NOT what I was asking for), so I said forget it. NEVER going to order from here again. read more

UGH! Terrible! We ordered lasagna (comes with a side salad and garlic bread), and a medium pizza with mushrooms, garlic, and peperoni. The lasagna was apparently baked in the round silver tin that it was delivered in and was awful. It was like they threw some flat pasta noodles in the tin and slopped on some bland pasta sauce and covered the whole thing in mozzarella. My husband couldn't even eat it, and he'll eat anything. The side salad was inedible, as 90% of the leaves were limp and browned on the edges. The garlic bread looked decent, but I soon discovered that it was drenched in grease. Surprisingly fast delivery (just under 30 minutes to the Banister/Ben White area at 7 pm on a Tuesday) and surprisingly HOT hot wings. Man, I love my hot wings hot, but these things burned off a thin layer of epithelial cells. In another word: Awesome. Too bad they served it with coagulated ranch-esque dipping sauce rather than the customary bleu cheese and celery. Oh well. Our pizza (half cheese and half spiced beef/sundried tomato/basil) hit the spot. Hot, fresh, not too greasy ... All we were missing was a six-pack of cheap beer. This pie's not gonna win over any connoisseurs, but it's better than the big chains, Rockin' Tomato, or Austin's Pizza, and on par with Southside Flying Pizza. Well, I don't have have a colorful and glossy flier to blame for ordering a couple pies last night from Milanos. In fact, it was regular yellow paper with black type, and quite unimpressive, but it did have three coupons on the bottom. That, and it was the first time I had heard of the place, and the name made me think maybe it was Italian style pizza. Which, if that's what I wanted, I could have ordered from Mangieri's, so I guess it was the coupons that sucked me in. Or, it could have been the mexican martini my neighbor made for me. Okay, it was a combination of all the previously mentioned factors. So, I was halfway to good and ripped after three more mexitinis (or is it margatinis? I like the former better) when the pizza arrived about an hour and 20 minutes later. I had called to ask where the hell the pizzas were, got put on hold, and found out from the driver that the guy who had me on hold made the driver stay on the phone with him until he got there. He also told me that said guy made him deliver to a different address first. The pizzas were warm at best, and totally unremarkable. I don't get pizza delivered often, but this was the worst I've had in Austin. I could have gone to the store and picked up three or four (tastier) frozen pies (for less), cooked and eaten them, mixed up another drink, and read some poetry during that time. But I'm a happy drunk, so by the time they finally did arrive, I didn't really care, and I had basically forgotten that I was pretty damn hungry. Abridged version: Ordered online. Called after waiting an hour and 15 minutes. Guy at shop sped through excuses of why my food was late but promised "it was coming". Delivered 20 minutes later by delivery guy who clearly hates his job. Open box. See the great cold and soggy pizza of disappointment. Microwave and attempt to eat. Spit out and throw everything in trash. Everything was gross. Breadsticks were smothered in sesame seeds with no other discernible seasoning to be found. Pizza was bland from crust to toppings. I cannot sufficiently explain how excited I get for weekend pizza, and Milano's has taken my gastronomical joy and stomped all over it. When I had needed a pizza fix, my goto spot was Papa John's ....not because it was good, but because it was easy. I can't imagine having a better neighborhood pizza shop than Milano's Pizza. Fast, good, and the pizza is always hot. I ordered the XL Mediterranean Pizza on the $9.99 any pizza any size coupon. Although the shop is close to my house, I couldn't be bothered to drive to pick it up. The $1.50 delivery charge is worth it sometimes. They said the delivery would be 45 minutes to an hour. About 30 minutes later, my pizza arrived. It looked just like the picture on the flyer, full of toppings, and the pizza just barely fit in the box. Yeah. It was almost too hot to eat still. This place has great pick-up and delivery specials. They also have salad (I don't recommend, just iceberg with Cisco-type dressings), pizza rolls (highly recommend), calzones (recommend), pasta dishes (okay), subs, deserts, and wings (haven't tried the last three). They really need to fix their website. If you order online they won't receive it. I've had this happen twice. I waited an hour each time and called them to see where my order was. Both times they told me the delivery man was already on his way, but he wasn't. Total time to wait for these guys is around 1 hour and 25 min. It's a bummer. read more

I put an order in online for a pickup. I quickly called in to get an estimate on when the pizza would be ready for pickup. I was told 20 minutes. Upon arrival, they told me it would take another 20 minutes. My pizza was nothing more than a paper order waiting to be built. I told them this was ridiculous because if they told me 40 minutes on the phone I would have stayed at home. As if that wasn't crappy, they didn't offer me anything for their mess up. Not even a free drink or a discount for waiting. I ended up canceling my order. (BTW: this place isn't the nicest place to hangout and burn 20 minutes). This is my first experience at Milano's. I ordered an XL 3-topping pizza and 7 wings for delivery online and got a wait time of ASAP. After an hour and a half of waiting, we called the restaurant about 5 times and after 3 minutes of non-stop ringing each time, they didn't answer. So I decided to drive down there and see what was up. It only took me about 5 minutes to get there and when I walked in, I heard the phone ringing and of course, no one was answering it. Staff was impersonal and filled with excuses as to why the phone wasn't being answered or why it was taking so long. I was told that the food had already left but they were unsure when it would be there because the guy had to deliver 4 other orders as well. I got back home and about 5 minutes later the food arrived. The wings were soggy but had nice flavor and were juicy. The pizza was warmish-but had obviously been sitting around waiting to be delivered. Not worth the hour and 45 minute wait or the trouble. Order from somewhere else, trust me. There are a lot of not-so-good reviews of Milano's on here but none of them mentioned the AWESOMENESS that is Milano's pepperoni rolls. Seriously folks, the best ones I've EVER had. Better than Rockin's Tomato. Oodles better than Double Dave's. These babies are great! What makes them so fabulous you ask? They actually SEASON the OUTSIDE with garlic and feta (at least I think that's what it is). Mmm. My mouth waters just thinking of these things!! Other things I've had from Milano: pepperoni and mushroom calzone (not good), philly cheesesteak sub (terrible), various pies (decent), jalapeno poppers (just like you buy in the frozen food section at the grocery store) and mesquite chicken sub (tasty but the meat tasted kind of like fake chicken). My friend is absolutely addicted to the Club sub at Milano so that's my next order. Only one time did I ever have to wait more than 30 minutes for a delivery. And every time I pick up my order, the folks inside are super friendly. I'll always go to this place for the AMAZING pepperoni rolls and I bet if you tried them, you'd fall in love, too! read more

There used to be 3 locations, I found this place in 2006 and I have been hooked ever since. Lucky me now I live in Austin but I used to make a special stop anytime I was up here shopping or passing through. Fresh ingredients, handmade dough, and fair prices; what more could you want? You can order online, over the phone, pickup, or delivery. Delivery is pretty slow though from what I have experienced, not sure if that is normal though as I have only used delivery twice. Milano makes one hell of a good pie at a great price in my Southwood neighborhood. An extra-large 2-topping pizza costs just $14 (total) for pick-up. I get mine loaded with mushrooms and black olives. They make a zesty sauce laced with oregano. The cheese they use is creamy and chewy and substantial. I grew up in west Houston and this pie reminds me of Pizza Roma. It is a substantial, cheesy slice..... way better than anything you could get down the road at a corporate box shop for a buck or two less. Plus, you call and they answer the phone, not a recording. I just got my order from Milano's Pizza and everything was very good! We got the XL (3 topping) and wings for $17.99 and added a calzone and 1 topping medium pizza. I was told it would be here in 45 minutes. It was here in 25 minutes! The delivery driver was very cordial and when I asked him if it was busy he said I was his first delivery of the night. He seemed like he was in a good mood. My pizza was very good and my wife had forgotten how hot the wings were! She got those with blue cheese dressing. My son really liked the calzone and it was HUGE! He has 3/4 of it left over for later. My girls both enjoyed their pizza as well. The order was correct and got her fast! The menu selection is very good too! There is something there for everyone. They even have a selection of desserts. My favorite is tiramisu! We would definitely recommend them to others. read more

I moved to Austin from Boston, and had a very hard time finding eggplant parm subs in this town. Imagine my surprise when I moved to South Austin and received a flier from Milano advertising their eggplant subs. I was also pleasantly surprised that they don't suck. The good: Decent eggplant parm subs, breaded eggplant available as a pizza topping, good prices, quick delivery compared to the chain places, pizza that is not as good as Saccone's but is a tolerable substitute for South Austinites, and they recently started taking credit cards. The bad: Salads are mostly composed of iceberg lettuce, the mozzarella cheesesticks probably come out of a freezer, they put tomato sauce _in_ their calzones, and then serve ranch on the side. read more

Their food is garbage. The cheesesteak was just slices of barely cooked frozen cheesesteak meat that wasn't even chopped up. Someone show the chef a YouTube video of what to do with that meat before someone gets food poisoning. And the tiramisu was a pre made frozen cup, not the actual cake-like dish.
