I moved to Austin from Boston, and had a very hard time finding eggplant parm subs in this town. Imagine my surprise when I moved to South Austin and received a flier from Milano advertising their eggplant subs. I was also pleasantly surprised that they don't suck. The good: Decent eggplant parm subs, breaded eggplant available as a pizza topping, good prices, quick delivery compared to the chain places, pizza that is not as good as Saccone's but is a tolerable substitute for South Austinites, and they recently started taking credit cards. The bad: Salads are mostly composed of iceberg lettuce, the mozzarella cheesesticks probably come out of a freezer, they put tomato sauce _in_ their calzones, and then serve ranch on the side. read more

I'd give this place 5 stars but i'm a New York thin-crust type of guy, HOWEVER, the deliciousness of this pizza makes up or the un-thinness of the crust so they get a solid 4 stars. This place is five minutes from my house so I thought I'd check out when Friday found me with an empty kitchen & no desire to leave the comfort of my couch. Way better than I expected. My expectations were low - my neighborhood has not really caught on to central Austin's demand for real, high quality ingredients - most places around here serve food that is processed, frozen, cheap & unhealthy in every possible way. I thought I'd be getting something like Pappa Johns. I ordered the Mediterranean & Margarita. Both arrived hot & loaded with veggies including basil leaves & real garlic. So far, so good! I discovered this little gem after starting a new job in the area. I'm a born and raised Chicago girl and have yet to find a good pizza joint. While this is not Chicago deep dish, it's very good! The sauce is sweet and tangy, seasoned perfectly. I have had the Mediterranean pizza, DELISH!! (Although I wasn't crazy about the artichokes, I love artichokes, but not on my pizza.) Today I ordered the eggplant parmigiana pasta meal, comes with salad and garlic bread! It was a dark and stormy night...and I of course wanted pizza. I threw a dart at the online map that is Yelp and found Milano's. I ordered an XL pepperoni. Simple but a great way to see how much effort is put into the basics when you're trying a new pizza place. I arrive, pick up my order and the pizza had, get this, pepperoni on it! It seems like a difficult thing for most pizza places in Austin to understand but Milano's got it right. Each slice had multiple pieces of pepperoni, plenty of cheese and just enough of a sauce with a little kick. It tasted exactly as it was presented, a solid pizza that was a good value. It also passed the taken to work for lunch test and still tasted good and was without the coagulation that hits many other pizzas. I will say that the dough was a little chewy for a thin crust and already headed to being cold even though from online order to walk in pick up was only twenty minutes. I've ordered from MILANO dozens of times for delivery. Price is comparable to the chains, but the pizza is FAR better than any chain. I've never been disappointed. We are lucky to have them in the area, and they've been here for at least 10 years (I've heard much longer). I just get pepperoni, mushroom, and green bell pepper. The delivery to me has always been prompt and very friendly. As for the negative reviews... just make sure they repeat your order back to you to confirm they've got it right and that should solve most problems (which one should do everywhere, anyway). I always order from Tony's, formally Viddy's, formally Milano's on south Manchaca. I love their pizza. On a whim, i tried out Milano's on Stassney. Pizza arrived over 1 hour 10 minutes after order. No explanation or apology. Temperature was a good deal below luke-warm. So, we had to wait another ten minutes to heat the oven and bake it back into a hot pizza. Which I burned a tad, due to the same busy-ness that lead us to order delivery. :) They also forgot the garden salad. So, we also had to eat some snacks to feel sated. Now for a bit of weirdness. My bill was $16 and some change. I gave the driver a 20 and he straight turned and left. After a step, though, I said, "Hey, can I get a dollar back?" (For similar totals, I usually tip pizza delivery two 1-dollar bills plus whatever change would have came back.) He told me, yeah, but he had to go back to his car. After we looked at each other for a couple seconds, I said, "Could you?" So, he went to go get the change. Well, that was a new one. Either he was very scattered-brained that day; or this is a method to pull a little extra scratch. I am not cynical; also I have never, ever seen a driver go to the door with zero change, nor be hesitant to give me my change. So, I am split on which it is. After all that craziness, 90 minutes after two starving and exhausted (from LD travel) people--ordered a West Coast pizza, they rather enjoyed their meal. The pizza was tasty. The vegetables looked healthy and tasted fresh. And, I liked the taste of the crust. Though, there were less toppings (including chicken), then is shown on the online menu. Their picture has the pizza smothered by it's toppings. Also, the chicken was dry; but that could have been the result of the extra baking we had to do. Don't expect any level of customer service if you have any issues. I cut the roof of my mouth on one of two 1" pieces of wood in my pizza. The manager (Jamal) tried to tell me it was something to do with the mushrooms on my order. Mushrooms don't contain fiber, let alone 1" pieces of wood. He had me text him pictures to his personal cell and the hung up on me when I called to get more information. The restaurant refused to give me the name of the owner so I could request a call back. My credit card has yet to be refunded. I am astounded at the lack of concern for a customer who nearly ingested a large foreign object that they didn't seem to have any concerns in identifying. So here I sit, blood in my mouth and they won't answer their phone. Avoid this place at all costs. After being a repeat customer for over ten years, this is how they treat people. Just look in the delivery guy's car next time you take out food to get a glimpse of what their kitchen must look like. I cannot fathom how they are still in business. Oh milanos! So i first smelled this deliciousness coming from my roommates dinner. So i thought i had to try it. So i've ordered from milano's a few times already, and i love this place, i think it is my favorite pizza place. On tuesdays they have the two for one special, I get an extra large pizza and get a free one for my boyfriend, which works out perfect because I'm vegetarian and he is definately a meat-atarian. The specials they have are awesome. And i they offer ALOT of toppings. I love the variety of choices on the menu, the cannoli's are awesome. I havn't had anything else they offer but i definately would be up for trying it. I would give a five, but delivery hasnt been the fastest and they forgot my cannoli and had to go back and get it. This place can be hard to find if you are not sure where exactly it is. It is tucked in the corner of small shopping center with a gas station on the end near the Pizza Patron. I walked in and the place looked closed. You roll up to this large window and they take your order. I ordered a specialty pizza a medium pepperoni. The place could some new new paint and the door looks like it was kicked in because there is a board on either side of it holding it together. That does not take away from the quality of the pizza at all. I get the pizzas home and it quite good. The pizza oven they had is one where if you are not sure what you are doing, you can cook the pizza too hot and burn the pizza. (Take notes Pizza Classics in Kyle.) The crust was soft and chewy and not over cooked. The sauce was sparse. There is just a hint of it, which I good. I hate when there is way too much sauce on a pizza. There was tons of cheese on these pizza's. I was impressed because many pizza places give you a good deal but they skimp on the cheese. I noticed they also have Calzones and other things on their menu that I might have to sample the next time. I drove by this place a million times and never noticed it was there. A friend from work told me about it and I was happy it was so close to my apartment. Ordered a pizza for the first time here on Sunday 10/15/17. They had a carry out special XL 1 topping for $10.99. I arrived 20 min after I called and my pepperoni pizza was ready. Older gent back there and a younger fellow with glasses both of them greeted me and were very nice. Pizza was phenomenal! I would classify it as NY style which is what I was hoping for. Crust was on the thinner side which I like. Plenty of cheese and both the cheese and crust had those tiny but flavorful little burnt spots from the oven that give it that authentic flavor. This pizza had a great cheese to sauce ratio. Sometimes too much sauce overwhelms the flavors of the other toppings but this sauce/cheese ratio was right on point. There are a lot of questionable reviews here, which tells me that there must be some serious pizza snobs here, or that their experience was much different than the 3 times I have ordered from Milano Pizza. In fairness, I have ordered pizza all three times, so I cannot speak for anything else on the menu. I have tried their Margherita, Mediterranean and West Coast specialty pizzas....and all three were excellent. You can definitely tell that is is pizza made from scratch...hand tossed dough, spice-filled pizza sauce, fresh ingredients and cheese. This pizza is exponentially better than any chain joint like Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, etc., but its also better than a lot of local places. I prefer their pizza over Home Slice, would rate it on par with South Side and Austin's Pizza, just to name a few. If you live in South Austin, there simply isn't a better pizza joint. You can't beat this pizza for the price! The staff is very nice and can make a mean pie. Plenty of cheese and toppings, the right amount of yummy sauce and a hint of garlic. I usually fall for thin pizzas with a crispy crust. Milano's crust is a bit thinner than your typical hand tossed thickness and is soft with good chewiness (?) but crispy towards the end. I'm a freak about mushrooms and every place gets skimpy with them but when I order a $6 medium pizza, it is loaded with a tasty amount of FRESH mushrooms - the amount that should be used everywhere in order enjoy a mushroom taste. Milano knows how to do it right, so right, I stopped people in HEB to tell them abt Milano when I overheard them talking about ordering Mr. Nastys (Gattis). Milano is cheap and 3x better. Shame the other locations are gone. Next time you're thinking about ordering from a bland chain, get on milanos site and check out their awesome deals. You deserve it read more

Ordered the Spaghetti with meatballs for the kids, a Philly Roll for myself , and the Tiramisu to share. Spaghetti sauce was very tasty - what little there was of it. It was literally a huge pile of noodles, with a little more than a dollop of sauce. The sandwich was ok but nothing to write home about. My biggest disappointment was the Tiramisu. It is by far my favorite dessert so I was appalled by what passed for Tiramisu here. This should NEVER have been called Tiramisu!!! There was no cake, no mascarpone, no liqueur. It was basically vanilla ice cream, some flavoring, and chocolate powder sprinkled on top. My girlfriend and I ordered food from Uber Eats. We're moving this weekend and I didn't feel much like cooking. She wanted pizza and I was in a pasta mood. I'm not the biggest fan of pizza. Food got here pretty quick and her pizza looked great but as soon as I opened my pasta I knew we had some issues. I ordered chicken Parmesan and I wanted the side of pasta to be with Alfredo sauce instead of spaghetti sauce (I get really bad heartburn if I have red sauce too late). The whole plate was basically just four, what looked like frozen chicken filets covered in Alfredo sauce and no marinara. I'm like ok no big deal maybe we didn't write the instructions clear enough, could of been my fault. So I try it and I knew right away it's canned sauce. Ugh it was so bad. I get maybe pasta isn't your main thing but you guys have to take into consideration there are people like me who aren't huge pizza fans. You could have at least thrown it in a pot and put some garlic in it and tried. I grew up pretty poor and I can make Prego taste pretty damn good. There was like ZERO effort out into it. My girlfriend however really enjoyed her pizza and my mozz sticks were good. Hopefully you take my review into consideration because having a well rounded menu and making sure each person is happy with their item is pretty important. I'm no middle yelper, I give great reviews and poor reviews, to let people know what they're missing, or should pass up. This will my first update review, where all stars are revoked. So here goes... I would like to preface this with the fact that I have only ever worked in restaurants my whole life, and as far as customers go... I'm very much on the pleasant end of the spectrum, (don't modify much, and I tip fat) because I live customer service. So my brother and his lady come over and we decide to get some pizza, so I suggest Milano's because it's my go to. My brother's lady says she likes chicken and artichokes which I don't normally order so I pull up the website. Well the website is down. under construction. So I just call to see if they have chicken and artichokes because I already know the rest of the order. them: Milano pizza.. me: Hi, your website is down, do you have chicken and artichokes? them: let me put you on hold..................................................................... them: Milano's. can I help you? me: yeah, I was just wondering if you have chicken, your website is down. them: is this a delivery or a pick up? me: delivery. them: ok, whats your address? me: blah blah blah them: ok what can i get for you? me: I just want to know if you guys have chicken them: let me put you on hold............................................................................................ them: ok, so what I get for you? me: do you have chicken? them: YEAH. He says he's the owner. I said "You're the owner, and you treat your customers this way?" he said yes and to have a nice night. He doesn't care to keep his customers. My brother's lady called in a pizza with NO CHICKEN for pick up. I tried to talk to the owner about how awful their customer service was and that I had been a loyal customer for years and that they should have patience for a single question when their website is down. He simply said "you said a profanity so I hang up." Not a single profanity slipped my mouth until the 5th time I was put on hold. Then while I was talking to the owner himself in a store with 5 other guys around him, he completely disregards me by answering the phone instead of letting an employee answer it. I give up. I tried more than I should have and still was treated poorly. Then I get the pizza home and it was totally under cooked. So good bye forever Milano's. And water your FUCKING plant. this place use to be great with the original owners great food and outstanding customer service now it would seem that the now owners and workers obviously don't care or know what they are doing and when they say they will replace the messed up item for you they turn around and the actual person you spoke to acts as if you never spoke to him and/or they try and tell you some other story also the prices differ from on line and at the store so they tell you you must be looking at doordash prices as if doordash prices could ever be lower priced than them plus everytime i order from them their own workers have done the delivery huh i will not be going back there and i will forsure spread the word of their terrible food and service especially since i am part of the hospitality industry you get no stars milano's pizza on stassney even though one is mark you have to pick a star so you can post kinda sh!++¥ since they deserve none on my behalf read more

I really wanted to like this place and gave it a few chances before I decided to write this review, but it failed 3 times over the last 6 weeks. I live less than 3 miles from Milano - Stassney and the delivery times were roughly 50 min, an hour and last night over an hour and a half. That's right... over an hour and a fucking half. The pizza is average. Not good, not bad and it does the trick. Thick tomato sauce is the only difference between this pizza and every pizza you've ever had. This isn't Homeslice good or East Side Pies good, this is about Conan's Pizza level. A little better than the chains like Domino's and Gatti's, but never will you say, "Wow, this is amazing pizza." More like, "Yep, this is pizza." The wings are hot. I've had them twice and they've varied in hotness although I ordered the same thing. The first time they were so hot I could hardly eat them and I love spicy things. I did eat them all though and paid the price. The next time they were slightly less hot, but still hotter than most places. This is a good thing for me as I enjoy a REALLY hot wing, too bad you have to wait forever to get them. And that's the only problem with this place, SLOW DELIVERY! Dear Milanos: Get your shit together and hire another driver or whatever it takes. Also, if it's going to take more than an hour, no... more than 45 minutes to drive a couple miles with a pizza, how about letting someone know? When I was in college @ UNT in Denton I worked as a delivery driver at Flying Tomato Pizza and sometimes we got busy. You know what we did? (This shit is gonna blow your fucking mind Milano). We got on the phone and said something like, "Hey... thanks for your order. We're really busy right now and it might take an hour or so for us to get you your pizza. You cool with that?" OR if we failed to say that at the beginning and a customer had been waiting an hour for their pizza we got on the phone and said, "Hey, I know you ordered a pizza an hour ago and it's still not there. Sorry man. It might be another 15 minutes because we're swamped over here. I'm gonna throw in (enter something / anything here) for your trouble." You know why? If you don't and you average 50-135 minute delivery to someone who lives 2.8 miles away you'll get a shitty review on Yelp. read more

Unfortunately, while the pizza was nice, my delivery experience was less than satisfactory. The initial delivery arrived an hour late- a fact I tend not to let bother me too much- but was then delivered to the wrong door (who took it and ate it, though that is a reflection on the character of my unfavorable neighbors). The re-fire would arrive two hours after my initial delivery time and I was offered no discount, no coupons, and no refund of any of the fees, merely had an "extra cheesecake" (something I had previously told them I was uninterested in when they called to let me know the cinnamon sticks were unavailable) included in the delivery without my consultation. This left me with two cheesecakes, which I will not eat, after I had requested tiramisu as the cinnamon sticks substitute. I understand that mistakes happen, but this was an overall extremely disappointing experience and a significant time-waste. Based on customer service and response to mistakes, I would have to say I am not inclined to return business to them nor recommend them. read more
