We went here in a large group (about 14 people). Now, I enjoyed my meal thoroughly and had a great drink (special was pineapple mojito...it was simply ah-maze-zing). Beautiful restaurant and service was pretty good until the end where we waited about 30 min for a check? Anyways, 4 members of our group ordered the duck...and each one was disappointed. Immediately after trying, one of our group members said the duck wasn't as good as he remembered it last time. One of the kids didn't make it out of the parking lot before he started throwing it up. The third and fourth pretty much picked at their food and stated the sides of potato were cold. Now I loved my linguine vongole and the calamari and brushchetta apps but we probably wont return as it was nothing special and after the puking session and the off taste...not sure if we want to risk it. read more

I enjoyed walking in a seeing such a pretty Restaurant . We were seated right away. Started off with a drink. Ordered Tuna tar tar. It was good but never had such big chunks of Tuna. Pieces to thick for my liking . My husband enjoyed the Oysters. For our entree I went with the fire roasted duck breast. It was cooked to my liking but craved a crispy skin. Came with roasted fingerling potatoes. Very deep flavor but small portion. Maybe 4-5 small potatoes and 5 string beans. The dish was good but on the small size. My husband had the mixed seafood over linguine. Tasty too but he wished it came with more pasta. However my girlfriend ordered the risotto and the portion was huge. Very good I must add. The bread basket was great and the EVOO for dipping was very tasty! Service was good when she got around to us. Not quick to ask if we needed anything. You can definitely take your time here. Where to start....drinks took forever even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. My wife's linguine and clams dish was gritty and the clams were rubbery, nothing like taking in a nice spoon full of sand from unwashed shells. My pizza was burnt on the bottom and the plate was filled with grease and black dust or ash from the oven. Our server somewhat concerned went and got the manager who was not only unhelpful about our concerns or issues with our meals but she was clearly talking bad about my wife and I to the chef at the kitchen counter. The facial reactions from the chef, who appeared to be annoyed with our complaints, was proof. This only added insult to injury to our experience here. Even if you don't agree with our complaints, at least have the decency to go into the kitchen to display your emotions. It wasn't personal, everyone has an off night, we just happened to be on the receiving end and are usually very understanding, however this display was unprofessional. No thanks, Bellini's and D'Raymonds are far better choices in the Latham area. read more

This was our first visit to Milano's. The food and presentation of the food were outstanding. Everything is fresh and the atmosphere impressive. The cuisine is artistic Italian such as the Braised Short Rib Gnocchi with Fiddlehead greens. Phenomenal and highly recommended. read more

I've been here twice and the only reason I came back the second time was because it was just about the only place left to get a reservation on Easter. Wasn't overly impressed the first time - I found the food to be mediocre at best. Our experience today ensured that I will never go back again. Easter brunch was priced at $32.95 per person and there was a very limited selection, the food was cold, they ran out of the only pasta dish on the buffet table, and they added an 18% gratuity - for a buffet! It cost $400 for 7 of us - a total rip off for the amount and quality of the food served. The only thing I will say positive is that the staff is friendly - but not overly attentive as we had to track down the waiter for a second cup of coffee. Really disappointing - but not a surprise after the first visit. Next year I'll be planning far ahead for Easter! read more

This place is an expensive joke of an Italian restaurant. I ordered a Cobb salad which was the size of a side salad for 14 dollars. Then on top of that, they charge PER soda. 3 dollars. But they don't tell you that. So it just appears on your bill. And they won't take it off. Also, it took 35 minutes to get our food (salads and one sandwich) and there was only ONE other person in the restaurant. This place is excellent. I came here for lunch with the most beautiful girl ever. She is a such a sweetheart. We sat down immediately as it was quite empty on a weekday. The restaurant is beautifully laid out and it is quite open. I think the owners make some really great food. I have also been to provence but had some less than stellar service. We ordered the Frutta Adriatica, which is spinach linguine with shrimp, mussels, scallops, roasted peppers, kalamata olives and basil in a white wine sauce. It was delicious. We then noticed a neighbor ordering a delicious looking pizza pie and decided to order that too. I think it was the margherita but I am not sure. That was delicious. I am leaving at 3 stars for now and when I get to enjoy more of this restaurant and its food, I can then give it its proper rating. I enjoyed the ambiance of Milanos with its dim lights and savvy decor. But that wasn't enough to help the entire dining experience. We had a waitress that gave us little to no service throughout the night. At first we thought it was just because the restaurant was busy but then people were seated next to us. She seemed to take care of everyone but us. Food wise: For an appetizer we ordered the calamari, which is sautéed. It came in a spicy marinara sauce. We asked the waitress for more bread at the same time as a couple next to us and received bread at least 20 minutes after them. By the time we got our bread, the sauce was cold and we didn't enjoy dipping it in the leftover sauce. My boyfriend got the Hanger Steak, which actually looked amazing and he said it was delicious. I ordered the Linguine All'Cappa Santa and the noodles were undercooked, which seems to be a common theme if you read more reviews on here. We finished with vanilla bean creme brûlée, which was delicious. Overall it was up to us to make the most of the dining experience and not rely on service and food. Always love the food & atmosphere in a convenient Latham location

We went there for date night. The atmosphere is very nice. The food was phenomenal! I got the braised short rib special and it melted in your mouth and the risotto was paired with was delicious. My wife got the shrimp Rossellini the shrimper big and cooked perfectly the pasta and sauce were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. I have come to Milanos a number of times in the past couple of years. The location is good for me and that is my plus. Tonight, I dined alone and the service was wonderful. It's hard to feel really comfortable as a female dining alone. It can be done, but it is special. I have to qualify my review because I only had an appetizer of the Crab Cake with a special salad. Maybe because I am from Maryland, but the Crab Cake was 95% bread crumbs. I really tasted no crab. Not good. Salad was fine with cubed fresh mozzarella , red peppers, kalamata olives and arugula, but too much oil. For the price, they need to ramp up the culinary offerings. read more

The waitstaff here is lovely, but unfortunately the chefs don't listen to them. The food served to my family was terrible. The pasta was bland and inedible, the fish was dry and over cooked and the chicken looked and tasted like it was two weeks old. Not to mention I ordered my meal without pancetta and the chef ignored the waitress not once but twice request to have it removed. Save yourself and get a burger at five guys. read more

Five of us for dinner on a Tuesday night. We stayed on the lighter side of the menu with most ordering salads and pizzas. I had the mussels as an appetizer again on this visit and they were excellent. Fennel, leeks, tomato and saffron make a great broth for mussels. Nicely done and this is the only reason for my 3 star rating. The pizzas were so so. I had the con pollo which is a favorite of mine. Nice thin crust but it was a dry and needed more toppings. Chicken was diced and there was very little of it. It was also cold which seemed odd since the place was not crowded. Not good. Inconsistency seems to be an issue. Service was ok. read more

I've been to Milano many, many times. I have never had a bad meal there yet. To the consternation of most people, Milano is more of an authentic, northern italian restaurant and when comparing it to typical American/southern Italian restaurants like D'Raymonds or Cafe Capriccio most people find the difference a bit jarring. What do I mean by authentic and northern Italian? I mean smaller servings, and more meat and fish than just pasta, pasta, pasta. Here's some highlights: - I particularly love the minimalistic decor of the interior. The open wood-fired oven is also fun to see. - The wood-fired pizzas are the best in the capital region. - I love that fact that they provide you with a mini menu of that nights specials instead of just describing them. I never end up forgetting the specials that way. - The wine list is extremely impressive and extensive. - Their salads are some of the most creative outside of All Good Bakers. I see a lot of people suggest that the place is too expensive. What you get for that price though is some of the best Italian food in the Albany and the capital region as a whole. The food is of excellent quality, and the price follows suit. But if you're willing to throw down $17-25 for a really nice meal, this is certainly on your list. Average. Had dinner on a Saturday night at 8. Place was full - made a reservation online at Open Seat. The place is divided by the bar into 2 areas; one is quieter with regular tables, the other is noisier and called the 'lounge' area with taller tables and a few booths. Reserve according to your preference. The food was fine, nothing special. We had: mussels, beet salad, prosciutto/arugula pizza and pasta bolognese. I appreciate that they offer smaller portions for some of their entrees plus they have some gluten free choices. We had gelato, sorbet and creme brûlée for dessert; all were good, not great. Food prices were fine. But the wine prices were absurd. $12 for a small glass of average Malbec? The service was s l o w. Wait staff were polite and friendly but it took an hour to get our appetizers and it was a long time after we finished dinner before anyone showed up to offer dessert. The ambience was nice enough. The crowd was mixed between loud 20-something's and older couples and groups. Doubt we'd go back. I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. It was ok, nothing special. read more

We met some old friends for dinner Saturday evening. My with and I arrived first and sat at the bar for drinks. I ordered a Scotch neet, with ice water on the side, my with wife, a Scotch and water. The bartender, brought my Scotch in a snifter type class. I usually ask for a Rocks glass, but had forgotten (my bad), but when I asked, apologetically, for a Rocks glass, her eyes rolled back in her head. She grabbed my glass and dumped it into a Rocks glass without saying a word.. She was obviously upset at my request. The waitress treated us like children as well. Mothers day Reservation for 6 people for $39.99 each buffet. When 5 of us showed they tried to sit us at small 4 top, told us they did not have our table for 6. Really? Tables so crammed 3 people had to move so 1 could get food, made folks miserable Omelette took 20 min and came partially raw, rest of party was done eating. The filet mignon was cold, sitting on a cutting board no heat lamp. Girl serving meat was texting on her phone with latex gloves then right back to serving- we lost our appetites. Add to that we think they forget to open flue for pizza oven place was filled with smoke. It triggered my mother asthma and we all smelled like a camp. $250 later I was embarrassed I had selected tis restaurant - no one enjoyed it. read more

My wife and I have been going to Milano's since it opened. I should have written a review before this,but never thought of doing so until now. It is definitely our "hang-out". The pasta is made on the premises and is delicious. My only complaint is that the menu has remained fairly static throughout the years as has the daily specials menu . Notwithstanding , the other evening the chef made a lamb with Brussels sprouts appetizer that was extraordinary. It should be placed on the menu as a main course. When Milano's excels it outdistances almost every restaurant in the Capital region. I would be remiss if I didn't make special mention of Anna the bartender. Anna makes the best drinks in the area. My favorite is the blood orange margarita which is unparalleled. In addition, the entire wait staff is welcoming and accommodating. If one is looking for an enjoyable evening with good food in a pleasant atmosphere, Milano's would be an excellent choice. read more

Best Italian food in the Albany area. Service staff is very friendly and is never a let down. Honestly the best Neapolitan style pizza I've ever had. Granted I've never been to Italy, but I used to live in New York City, and as good as the pizza was, nothing was better then a Margherita pizza from Milano. Specials are always creative, seasonal, and delicious. The desserts here are the best in the Albany area. Best creme brûlée and cheesecake I've ever had in my life! I would also recommend the chocolate flourless , olive oil cake or any of their gelatos or sorbets, always on point. Ask for rob the server, very knowledgeable and friendly. First let me say the food is good. The portions aren't generous, but I don't consider that a requirement. My party of 3 dined at Milano a few nights ago. My complaint with this restaurant is that the staff seems to lack the desire to please the customer. The chef refused to accommodate a simple (and I mean 'simple') request. It was early on a week night and the restaurant wasn't busy. There was just no reason for him to be so ornery. Then someone else mentioned that the same thing happened to them a while ago also. In retrospect, when we asked the waiter if the chef would do it, the waiter acted like he already knew what the answer would be, so I suppose this chef is just isn't committed to customer satisfaction. I agree with some other reviews that the seating leaves a lot to be desired. They have a curved bench and when they put a table for four up against it someone has to be sitting too far from the table. It just doesn't work. We frequently go to Milanos 1x a week and always have a wonderful time- we choose to sit at the bar bc of the extra little app menu that is offered- if we have friends or family we sit at the tables- food is consistently good and timing for when food arrives never overlaps which is a Big thing for me- sometimes entrees can take a little longer than liked if the kitchen is busy. ..but totally understandable and doesn't affect the 5 stars im giving this lovely place read more

Mother's Day was my first and last visit to Milano's. We had a 12:00 seating for brunch and were led to our table and then returned to the entrance. Our table was not ready.. We were given another table and a chair was added. The food was not unique and they ran out of cream cheese that went with the lox. I am sure that more would be provided but not while I waited. We were told that omelets would be ordered at the table. We ordered and finished our brunch and still no omelets. What would you do? Have dessert or wait for the omelet. Dessert was a bust. The chocolate covered strawberries were gone. Of course the typical cheese and raspberry danish were numerous. You know the ones that you buy in bulk. I remember seeing other items when I arrived but did not see any of that when it was time for dessert. Maybe it was a mirage. We spoke about the omelets to our server and were told that they had to make hundreds of them. I called later to express my concern and was told the same t thing. As a matter of fact I was told that we cancelled the omelets. This seemed to be our fault and the seemed quite piqued. Well, count me out on Milano's. LT read more

This place is so worth coming for their pasta dishes but it hurts to see the cost of how much these pasta dishes are actually worth. I am a fan of the Gnocchi alla Bolognese, primarily because I am a fan of Italian meat sauce on my pasta and this restaurant got my taste buds right. I first tried this place back in 2010 when I moved to the central region of NY and the prices did grow since then. I moved out of NY ever since 2016 but I come back annually and when I do, I always stop by at this restaurant. It's nice to see improvements since some of the menu items have changed. I think this place still has got their Italian quality and improved on some of the Antipasta dishes as well. A few more favorite dishes that I'd recommend would be the Linguine Adriatica (a seafood pasta dish simmered with a white wine sauce), Tortellini alla Bisanzio (a tortellini pasta dish with a tomato basil sauce)! read more

This place was a waste of money compared to other Italian places around the area. The portion sizes are ridiculous for the prices. They have regular and small portion sizes. The waitress told us the regular size was about the size of the tray, but she failed to mention the plate was about the size of the tray, not the food on it. There was all of one layer of tortellini for the regular size which was priced about $17. The other 3 Italian restaurants I've been to, their plates have been at least $5 cheaper and came with soooo much food. My tortellini was undercooked, and bland. We left hungry. The tables are also way to close to each other, I had to say excuse me to the guy next to me just to get up. Never going here again. read more

My company gets catering from here a lot so I decided I would finally try their actual menu. The starter bread they give you is wonderful. Nice and crusty on the outside but soft in the middle. The wheat was my favorite of the two they give. I ordered the Rigatoni Con Salsiccie Piccanti: Hot Sausage, Roasted Garlic, Roasted Peppers, Spinach, Wild mushrooms and Chianti with Rigatoni. For starters the sausage was not hot. It didn't even tasty spicy to me but it was fresh and did taste very good. The wild mushrooms were huge and all throughout. Same with the roasted garlic, huge chunks were everywhere. All that said, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the sauce. It was very soupy. I was hoping for a sauce that actually stuck to something. I didn't think it was very flavor-full and the leftovers (bc they only offer that in the large portion) that I brought home I did mix a little heavy cream with before I reheated and it was great. My fiance ordered the Filetto Con Funghi: Grilled Filet Mignon with Marsala cream, grilled portobello mushroom, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. They served it with asparagus. This meal was outstanding. The filet was perfectly cooked, the potatoes and mushroom had so much flavor. The sauce they put over everything was incredible. I have been to Mortons Steakhouse and Prime 677 and I think this steak was better than either of those places for a fraction of the price. The place itself is kind of small and I wasn't crazy about the seating they had. The chairs were wooden and kind of small and uncomfortable. The tables were close together so you could be in your neighbors conversation without even knowing it. The plus side of being so close together is seeing what everyone else orders. The pizza looked great. Nice REAL wood fired oven pumping out great thin crust pies. It is a cool aspect that you can literally see the chefs prepare all your food as the kitchen is on the floor with you. Service was okay but the food is what will have me back. Our bill was $60 with the 2 meals and 1 glass of delicious white wine. They are on opentable.com too so I made reservations right from my iphone the previous night! read more

Terribly rude service- got takeout here for my mom's birthday and had to wait 15 mins for anyone to even acknowledge my existence. I saw a takeout bag sitting at the bar so I finally asked the girl behind the bar if it was mine and she brushed off and said she didn't know and I'd have to wait for the bartender- who, for whatever reason, was not behind the bar. When she finally came back she made me wait another couple minutes while she poured four or five drinks, THEN decided to do me the favor of taking my credit card. Wow. Seriously reprehensible service from a restaurant that touts itself to be fine dining. To make matters worse, the $10 salads we ordered (with no meat) were barely the size of side salads. Seriously pitiful portion sizes. My mom got ONE crab cake for $10. The $10 bruschetta sampler had 3 pieces of bread. And no, the food wasn't that great. I had dinner here last Thursday and the place was packed! My date and I started out with the calamari. I was a little hesitant about it not being the traditional breaded and fried variety, but it was the BEST calamari I have ever had. The menu does not boast many staple "classic Italian" dishes, ie no meatballs, no veal parm ect, but what is does have is a large range of seafood, entrees, and light sauces more typical of a Mediterranean restaurant. For my main course I had a shrimp and pasta dish. The sauce was amazing, and the pasta is homemade. For dessert I had the flourless cake, it was like I had dies and gone to heaven! My overall experience was very very good. The service was prompt and professional. The only criticism I would have is how loud the place gets. On a busy night with an open kitchen it could be hard to hear our server at times. read more

I live in Latham so going to Milano's Restaurant is so convenient because it's four minutes away from my house. I love the industrial look that Milano's has. They always have fresh flowers and nice lighting. I just feel comfortable when I'm in there. There has been some changes with personnel recently so I could not give them a 5 rating. My wife and I went there on February 15th for Valentine's Day. Well, we were celebrating that Saturday, rather than Friday, which was Valentine's Day. It was crowded so my wife and I went to the bar and had a glass Turley Zinfandel wine for $14 a glass. Within 20 minutes our table that we requested was ready. Amanda , the bartender was awesome! She is friendly and very personable. She made the first part of our night very pleasant. My wife and I started out with the special the octopus salad. It was cooked to perfection so tender . It had a light citrus dressing , which was refreshing. Before we did get our appetizers our waiter John came out with some bread and basil oil and butter. The bread was hot and fresh. John was very attentive, but not smothering. For dinner my wife had the homemade gnocchi in a bolognese sauce and I had the duck. My wife love her pasta and my duck was cooked as requested , medium rare. Neither one of us had dessert. Milano's is a nice place to meet for drinks or have a very nice meal. They have great wood fire pizza(thin crust)and will try to accommodate you by making something up for you if you like. I sometime order a duck confit pizza with fingerling potatoes, roasted red peppers, with fontina cheese.(awesome) So my wife and I had two glasses of Turley Zinfandel wine, appetizers, and main entrees. It would have cost us about $70 a person, but they have a loyalty points program so every time you spend $350 you get a $35 credit. I saved my until I had a $70 credit so our bill was about $70 for the two of us. Milano's is an Italian Restaurant with ambiance. You're not going to get a huge portion like some Italian restaurants, but the place is classy, comfortable, friendly, and of course great food. I would recommend Milano's to anyone who enjoys great food with great atmosphere. read more

My husband and I purchased some city dinning cards in effort to support local restaurants. Since we live in Latham, we were happy to try Milano. We started off with sharing the calamari, I have to say it was good, however it is really small. Then we moved on to pizza, which was okay but not overly special. The bad part came when check came. I was not told during the meal that there were no refills on soda, so the two refills I had were an extra $6. It would have been nice for the waitress to say something while we were ordering. I doubt I would go there again, while the food is okay the price is really too much for what you get. read more
