In addition to the screens disintegrating within a year of installation, the locks not working (the windows can be easily opened from the outside even when in locked position), I now have one that is jammed open and they are refusing service for several months. I took one off the tracks to clean the outside, and the metal clip that derails them snapped, jamming the window half open and immobile. I filed a request for service and around a month later got a reply that "many customers elect to replace the clips themselves because our service takes too long" without even an offer to send a new clip. WOW. So my window is jammed open, it's the rainy season in Oregon- early October. I asked for a service visit anyway, and the schedule me for late December. They are electing to allow our house to have an open window for 3 months to let in all the rain and cold. I hope they don't mind the bill for water damage and electrical. It may be time to talk to a lawyer. read more

Their warranty support is a sham. I reported a window repair under warranty on January 25th 2021. Of course due to COVID and the boom in renovations, they said it will take 4-8 weeks for making the glass replacement. Finally they setup an appointment for 2/26 (6 weeks). The appointment window is 4 hours wide which means you have to take time off from work to wait for them. When the technician came, he measured the window and said he had been given the wrong part. He said he will talk to the office and try to expedite the replacement part. 3 weeks pass and no word on what is happening with my case. So I finally call them and they say they will get it corrected and send another technician. Also this time they noted that even the frame has to be changed which is a paid service. I readily paid for it and I got an appointment for 5/10. A whopping 7+ weeks. I guess that's their definition of expedite. I called and asked if they can do it any sooner and the response was a flat NO. When I reminded them that the last time the person came with the wrong size part, and to make sure this time that mistake does not happen, the lady on the support call assured me that they will make sure the correct size parts are sent. Guess what? on 5/10 another technician (Tommy Villanueva) came and both the parts (glass and frame) were wrong size. They were off by an entire 3/8". The technician was nice enough to give it a shot and see if the wrong size frame could be installed with some adjustments but he finally gave up. He got on the phone, (on the speaker phone), the lady from the office read out the specs for the window and they were exactly off by 3/8" from the parts given to the technician. He made the same assurances of expediting and talking to the office etc. etc. another week passes and no word from Milgard. Finally I gave up and called them not waiting for 3 weeks like before. This time the support service person said that the lady handling my case was on another line. I left a message for her to return my call. I did not get a call but did receive a repair appointment for 7/9. Now it is 8 WEEKS. So every time they come out to fix it the weeks will keep adding and I am positive the next time again they will get the wrong size. I am emailing them separately. If they do not make this a priority and resolve within 2 weeks, I am talking to my lawyer and making them take back all their windows (the entire house) and pay for replacing them with a competing brand. I spent close to $40K to get doors and windows from Milgard installed when I did my entire renovation about a year ago. I would imagine they would take care of customers who spend a large chump of change with them. I am also surprised how Home Depot keeps such a brand which has a crappy warranty and deceiving customer service. I think their strategy is to frustrate the customer enough so that they go somewhere else to get their window fixed so that Milgard doesn't have to. read more

I had two appointments canceled and they said they would call me in a week and it never happened. Several skylights and windows have problems. I told them my skylights are leaking a damaging my drywall and I need them to come out now and after several emails and phone calls still no response. I bought there windows because they are nice and the warranty is lifetime but the service is terrible. Next I may have to get legal advice on how to proceed if they dont resolve this soon. This has been going on for about 6 months. If I dont get some results soon I may go on social media so others can know. There are plenty of platforms that can get the word out. read more

Milgard is a top of the line company when it comes to lifetime warranty for original customer service. I had my windows installed 12 years ago and today Ray & Lyle came & changed out three defective (foggy) ones. They were fast, courteous, and professional. I also have a Window-master (Jeld wen) sliding glass door that was installed the same time. The fogging is so bad that one side is totally shot. I contacted Jeld wen and they wanted $500 to replace it; so much for them standing behind the product. As for the negative reviews; you can't expect a product to be guaranteed indefinitely through multiple generations of people/occupants. Buy Milgard, don't move & Get real. Milgard dominates almost all the glass windows and doors in my 2 story home. In the 15 years that these products have been residing here, I only have had 2 experiences where I needed service. Both times, a repair tech did come out and solve the problems. One stationary window of a horizontal slider had a seal leak creating an atmosphere between glass panels. That required a replacement dual glazed panel assembly. The other was defective balancers which required two new parts. I'm very satisfied with the cheerful repair people and their repair work. Could have been 5 stars but the service is sometimes slow in getting out to you for making a confirmed appointment. Once they make an appointment they keep it and make a confirming phone call a couple of days before the appointment too. If your not in a rush, their system works and their promises are kept. In spite of the slow speed for service, Milgard is still a quality product and a good value. read more

Ordered windows through a glass shop four months ago.. they were not made correctly by Milgard so they had to replace two of them.. took them a month and a half to even get the new ones here and only one of the two were made - have been waiting now another month to get the last piece and told them I could not be away from my office any more and since this was their fault I need a Saturday - they said no and put my order on hold. The worst company I have dealt with in a very long time - poor glass company isn't getting paid until the windows are done correctly - buyer beware and find a different window manufacturer if at all possible.. read more

I have no idea how old my windows are, but two of them, including a sliding patio door, obviously sprung leaks. I admit that it was a little hard to get through to them by e-mail, but I contacted Milgard by phone, and they arranged to have my windows replaced at no cost. Indeed, when the estimator came he noticed a third window that was similarly leaky, and they replaced it as well. The Milgard personnel said that my windows were nearing the typical lifetime of any such double-paned windows, and they would replace them under warranty as needed. I have no real complaints but note that after I submitted a form over the Internet I got no response until I telephoned. I give them 4 stars, not 5, only because of their failure to answer my e-mails. read more

EXTREMELY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - specifically customer service representative Danette from Temecula (who did not want to give her last name because she said that she's the only Danette in the company). Milgard sent out two technicians at approx. 10:30am on Tuesday 04/03 to replace four windows, of which two had fogged up. There were NO crack in any of the windows before the technicians came. Before they left, the technicians let us know that one of the windows had a hairline crack and that they will be in touch with us to have the window replaced. They did not contact us. I sent out an email yesterday evening 04/04 at 6pm to let them know that the hairline crack had cracked further from edge to edge throughout the day, with two photos attached. I did not receive a response as of this afternoon. This afternoon 04/05 at 3:45pm, I had called in and had the worst phonecall experience with Danette. First, she lets me know that there has been an appointment scheduled for 04/27. I told her that it was too long wait as the window has cracked from edge to edge and could possibly shatter anytime. I mentioned that I had sent in an email with photo evidence and she insisted that she did not receive them. When she finally found the email, she had asked me if the crack was inside or outside. I told her that the windows were high up (we have a very high ceiling home which requires a long ladder) and that I could not tell. She then tells me that the window will not crack, and if the crack is on the outside, it will shatter outside the house and not inside. To which I asked, what if the crack is on the INSIDE?!?! Is Milgard or Danette going to be held liable if it does shatter and someone in the home gets hurt!?!? She does not answer my question. Next, she tells me to CLIMB UP and TAPE THE CRACK so that it does not eventually shatter!?!?! I had told her we just had an earthquake this afternoon here in California and again asked if she or Milgard will be responsible if anyone gets hurt inside the house!?!?! She then tells me they were there to reseal the the windows and if it's a cracked window I should have let them know before they sent out technicians, to which I tell her that's the point of this phone call?!?! That the technicians messed up?!?! She eventually tells me that she will send out a technician tomorrow morning to TAPE THE CRACK to hold it until the scheduled 04/27 appointment. I agree to this and asked what time I can expect the technician. She then responds that she is unable to give me a time as she has already tried to "squeeze you in on an already very tight schedule". WOW THANK YOU DANETTE. I told her I can't take the day off to be waiting around all day for a technician to come in for 15 minutes without ANY time frame!?!? She tells me she starts work at 6am and that she can give me a call or email. So I said ok, 6am tomorrow I will be expecting a phonecall. She then tells me she would have to speak to the scheduling manager, so I had to ask again what time can I expect a phonecall!?!? to which she finally says between 6am-8am. And finally, when I asked for her name and last name, she tells me "it's Danette with a D and you don't need my last name, I'm the only Danette here" THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!! read more

10 years ago I purchased Milgard windows for my cabin in Big Bear. I was charged higher price for the windows because they said they had to have the windows treated for higher altitude and weather changes. Two years later one window broke, Milgard came out and replaced the window at no cost to me. This weekend another window broke and when I called Milgard the customer service representative from the warranty department ( Linda) said that the window is not under the warranty and she sent me to the local dealer in the area. She also said that the notes in the system says that my contractor called back in 2009 and that the window was paid for. In fact I was the one calling the company and I didn't pay for the window because the technician said that clearly it was a defect from the inside of the window that caused the damage. I asked Linda to send me the warranty for my order and she sent me a link to a general warranty from their website that said that broken glass is not covered. I would understand that if the glass broke due to misuse or abuse, but not when your window explodes without anyone touching it. Linda keep saying that it was mother nature, but I don't think mother nature has anything to do with it, when it was perfect weather, 69 degrees. read more

We installed a Milgard garden window installed in our kitchen 12 years ago. The seal on one pane has broken and it is full of humidity. Even worse is that laminated base board has deteriorated and cracked and it is difficult to find someone to repair it, The warranty was only good for 10 years - windows should last 30 years, not 10 - DO NOT BUY THIS INFERIOR product. read more

My windows were installed by the builder in 2001. I have replaced a total of eight windows due to condensation in between the glass panels. Since then, I have remove shutters from the remaining windows and have noticed another 10 windows with condensation. I have called warranty, and they do not cover anything since I am the second owner of the house. They have told me they no longer provide warranty work at cost to the owner because they are so busy fulfilling other newer warranty orders. This tells me that their windows are very unacceptable since their warranty department is so busy. I do not recommend Millguard Windows. Windows should last more than 17 years. And lifetime warrantee means nothing. Not many people will stay in the same house for a number of years. Windows need to stand up to a number of years. Our contractor put in a Milgard window in our kitchen when we remodeled 8yrs ago. Started to discolor on the inside between the panes. Put in a warranty request on their website. Had a response in a couple of days with a date for a technician to come out. I figured just to look and see if it was under warranty. Turns out, he replaced the glass with no questions. The job was fairly quick and everything was cleaned up. Other than the fact that they look new, you would not have known any work was done in the area. The service tech said that since that window takes full sun for a major portion of the day, it may happen again. If so, just open another warranty order and they will replace again. I have Pella windows also and even with fairly new windows, when one failed they charged $150 for service to come out and diagnose! Be warned!!! Do not buy Milgard windows. We bought our home with milgard windows (probably installed approx 9 years ago) and 4 of them do not longer open due to faulty balancers. Last Dec, I called Milgard and they referred me to the local dealer. The dealer ordered my balancers (after I paid for them), and finally came out to install them. THey were the wrong parts, and the dealer claims Milgard doesn't make the part any more and refused to refund my money. I called Milgard and they said they will do NOTHING to support me. They said I have to go back to the dealer if I have nay issues. Well, it's difficult with a dealer that doesn't support you! Milgard will not support you if you are not the one who installed the windows. I'm going to have to install new windows now since Milgard claims they don't make the parts any more. This review is in regards to Milgard warranty service. Our home is 17 years old and all of our windows are Milgard. From time to time we have had various double pane windows lose their interior seal and require replacement. In each situation, I filled out my claim online and scheduled an appointment time for window replacement. A Milgard technician comes to my home at the appointed time and replaced the windows in less than an hour. He also checks the other windows to verify they are ok. I might be a bit disappointed in the longevity of Milgard windows but there warranty service has been top notch. read more

Warrantee Repair....Milgard replaced 2 windows 1 sliding door that had fogged up, repaired a track on another sliding door and repaired a couple of window cranks. We had to schedule a visit from their consultant to survey the warrantee repairs, which took a couple of weeks to get him on site, and another 2 months to schedule the repairs. This was timely but they were on time for our scheduled appointment, and did a very good job in making all of the necessary repairs in a timely manor. Their service people could not figure out how to solve my problem so I asked for another service that was set for eight weeks from date I called. Mariana, the customer service rep, finally got me an earlier date of 12/7 that I just cancelled. I decided to do some research online and found gaskets, selected one, ordered it thru Home Depot for $15, just installed it and tested it with the hose and water, it works just fine. The reps couldn't figure it out but I am female and 78 years old and fixed it. All these years I've put up hanging a plastic bag out from underneath door to keep rain out instead of leaking onto my hardwood floors. read more

I recently had a sliding door replaced and chose a Milgard door from its Tuscany series. It is beautiful. Sadly, there was a scratch on the inside of the double-paned glass. I called the company and they immediately arranged a date to come and replace the glass. They confirmed the appointment a few days ahead and the technicians arrived on time and made the replacement. Six years ago I replaced all of the wood frame original windows and French doors in my 50 y.o. home with Milgard products. It has been a great investment. My home is much better sealed against the weather and the sunlight UV is now well controlled. I have needed two minor service calls since they were installed, one to readjust a door and the other the replace a discolored window pane. The company rep came by and said it may have been temperature and wasn't an impact as there was no signs of anything hitting it. Later found out he said something hit it. Liar! We know for a fact it broke for no other reason than it was defective and our warranty should be honored. Well it's not. You should look at ALL the reviews on here and get the point that your defective products and lack of integrity are earning you a horrible reputation contributing to business going to other companies. They are cheap defective windows. I bought my house from the original owner back in 2010. The home was built in 2004, so it was only 6 years old. My home is 3,500 square feet with many windows. Seven of the milgard windows were bad. I have no warranty b/c I'm not the original owner. Milgard replaced the seven as a one time good gesture; however, I had to pay 700.00 in labor. Later I replaced two more my self that I ordered and paid through Milgard. We were involved in a class action law suit with the home builders and milgard. In the end we only got a mere $1,300.00 in settlement. Then about 6 years later the Milgard windows I ordered and paid for started to fog up. Milgard refused to honor that warranty b/c I took part in the class action law suit, even though they were windows bought and paid for by me. Basically all the milgard windows in this home have failed miserably. I've been dealing with an independent glass company ordering the windows myself and installing them. The glass comes form Central Valley glass and looks like much better quality glass. So far so good. Milgard does anything to weasel their way out of replacing their overpriced defective products. read more

If you live near the ocean, DO NOT buy Milgard doors and windows. The screen doors are made not by Milgard, but Quanex. If you need to replace the roller wheels which rust out completely in a year, the replacement parts from all the hardware stores do not fit. when contacting Milgard customer service, they lie and say the wheels are not replaceable, nor covered by their warranty, so you have to pay Milgard to come out for $300 to measure, and then purchase all brand new screen doors. When trying to contact Quanex, they list Milgard's phone number and say to contact them. They do show my parts online to purchase, but no way to contact them or purchase them. Both sides point the finger at the other one and nobody cares or helps. Completely unacceptable customer service, the worst in my entire life. read more

Purchased 11 windows and 1 slider; Ultra fiberglass models; black interior and black exterior paint. We are 6 months from installation, and paint is already showing signs of wear with normal use. The screen of the slider does not flow smoothly, and has already chipped the paint off the track. The slider handle and frame nick extremely easily, exposing the white fiberglass underneath. Even taking extreme precaution when painting our new construction, we used the recommended tape, which proceeded to pull the paint off every single window. For the price of these windows, I expected and was told the quality far exceeds the competition. I'm now debating going to the competition to replace all of our less than 6 month old windows and slider! read more

In the process of installing 29 Milgard Ultra Fiberglass Windows and Doors at our house. Still waiting on three windows to arrive. I love these windows. But I must say we've had a few quality issues that should have been caught in the manufacturing process. I think Milgard needs to tighten down on their quality control at the factory. I've had two cracked windows that needed to be replaced, a picture window that was manufactured "Out of Square", and the lower track of an expensive Sliding Door that had glaring problems at each side of the lower track. exposed metal that should have been incorporated into the track itself. Customer Service is good, and windows are being replaced. However Milgard Field Representative told me the Service Department Manager said the Door Track issue was normal, and told the Field Representative to tell me "to just paint it black"! Terrible answer that should be fixed by Milgard!!!! I still love the windows, but I do think Milgard has some problems going that need to be rectified. read more
